Swedish glam rockers LIPZ are thrilled to unveil their new single and official video, a new rendition of Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up”, out now via Frontiers Music Srl.
Lipz take on Paula Abdul’s iconic hit and flip it on its head. “Stripping the song down to its core and rebuilding it with roaring guitars and arena-sized energy, we’ve transformed the pop classic into a bold, hard-hitting rock anthem while keeping the unforgettable melodies intact”, they commented.
The Lipz saga started in 2011, with the visionary Klintberg brothers, Alexander (vocals, guitar) and Koffe (drums), and guitarist Conny Svärd. The band’s journey took a transformative turn when Alexander assumed the role of frontman, paving the way for their distinctive sound.
Lipz’s musical journey began with the release of their debut single, “Ghost Town”, in September 2012, followed by the EP “Psycho” three years later. The quest for a stable bass player added a unique twist, leading to a three-year adventure to complete their debut album. Undeterred by challenges, Alexander took on bass duties, exemplifying the band’s unwavering dedication to their craft.
In a ground-breaking move in 2023, Lipz joined forces with Frontiers Records, marking a pivotal moment in their musical odyssey. Their latest album, “Changing The Melody”, was released in March 2024, ushering the band in a new era of glam rock on the global stage.
Renowned for their infectious energy and sonic brilliance, Lipz are rising as trailblazers in the realm of glam rock.

Creatures of the Night, rejoice! While the days are getting longer CEMETERY SKYLINEembark on another quest spreading nocturnal splendour and more “Nordic Gothic”.
Today marks the release of the first out of three remixes of fan favourites from contemporary dark electronical artists. With CEMETERY SKYLINE drawing influences from late 80s and 90s goth metal and rock they were curious what new artists from this vital scene could bring to their music.
First is French multi-instrumentalist Kabbel who mixes the darkness of extreme music and industrial with modern pop influences for a melancholic version of “In Darkness” that is lit by dimmed neon lights. Stream the song on all digital platforms.
“Nordic Gothic (Deluxe Edition)” comes with a full bonus disc with unreleased and rare songs and versions that came together since the original release of the album like the (so far) one of a kind semi acoustic session that the band played in New York City as well as the afore mentioned remixes. The music is accompanied by a booklet with behind the scenes and live photos from their first gatherings as a band.
Markus Vanhala comments: “We’ve been having so much fun in this misery called ‘Nordic Gothic’ that we just decided to release it again! As you notice, we recorded some more songs during the original sessions, so here’s the full ‘Nordic Gothic’ saga shining in the dark. Unreleased material, the standalone single releases, NYC acoustic live tracks that show a different side of the songs as well as something completely different: the remixes by outside artists! This should be a pretty cool deluxe edition with a disc full of unreleased material. N-joy!”

From the dark underbelly of Dublin’s thriving heavy music scene, crossover outfit Droptune return with their most explosive statement to date. Their new single ‘Louder Than War‘ arrives independently on March 27, delivering a powerful and uncompromising call to arms against injustice.
Blending the incendiary spirit of rap and metal, Droptune have rapidly carved out a reputation as one of Ireland’s most exciting emerging acts. Drawing influence from the raw protest energy of Rage Against the Machine and the industrial weight of Nine Inch Nails, the four-piece fuse down-tuned riffs, punishing rhythms and razor-sharp lyricism into a sound that is both confrontational and deeply resonant.
Featuring acclaimed Irish hip hop veteran Richard Lewis, formerly of The Elements and The Animators, ‘Louder Than War‘ pushes the band’s sonic identity even further. The track is a visceral collision of heavy grooves and politically charged delivery, underscored by a message that speaks directly to a generation demanding to be heard.
Frontman Adam Swords explains: “We’re not just playing music. We’re expressing anger, hope, and a demand for change. ‘Louder Than War‘ is about giving a voice to the voiceless and amplifying what others try to silence.”
Formed in 2023 and comprised of Adam Swords, Ciaran Maloney, Conor O’Neill and Leon Guilfoyle, Droptune have built significant momentum in a short space of time. Their debut single All Calm surpassed 20,000 streams on Spotify, bolstered by strong support across major Irish radio stations and airplay on Kerrang! Radio in the UK.
The band continued their ascent with ‘Reaper’, a blistering and unflinching critique of global political unrest. Recorded at Dublin’s Track Mix Studio, the track showcased their ability to combine sonic intensity with meaningful commentary, cementing their reputation for substance as well as power. That momentum has since expanded on an international scale. Droptune’s music has reached audiences across the UK, Europe, Australia and the United States.
With ‘Louder Than War‘, Droptune sharpen their message and amplify their impact. The single encapsulates the band’s core ethos: resistance against injustice, unity through sound, and the belief that music can ignite real change.
This is more than just a release. It is a statement of intent.
Vancouver, Canada’s traditional heavy metal torchbearers IRON KINGDOM proudly announce the release of “Defenders,” the first single and music video from their upcoming sixth studio album, “Shadows and Dust,” due out June 6, 2026. The album is also being released in partnership with Steel Shark Records (France), which will offer an exclusive EU edition limited to just 300 double‑CD copies. Disc 1 will contain the full “Shadows and Dust” album, while Disc 2 will feature a “Best Of” collection highlighting tracks from Iron Kingdom’s previous five releases. In addition, the label will introduce a third vinyl colour (100 copies) available only to EU fans.
“Defenders” sets the tone for “Shadows and Dust” with a powerful blend of speed, emotion, and classic heavy metal grit. Inspired by the Battle of Gdansk, the track pays tribute to the Polish soldiers who held their ground for seven days against Nazi invasion, an act of courage that deeply resonates with vocalist/guitarist Chris Osterman, whose own family history is tied to the conflict. “Being that my family is half Polish, this song strikes a chord for me. I imagined what my great‑grandfather experienced riding with the Polish cavalry in WWII, and I also imagined what people in Ukraine must be feeling right now. Even though the song is fast and heavy, it’s very emotional. It speaks to the courage of those who defend their families, their friends, and their way of life,” says Osterman. Musically, “Defenders” channels the band’s signature blend of classic heavy metal, drawing influence from acts like Tyran Pace and Primal Fear, with soaring melodies, galloping riffs, and a relentless sense of urgency.
“Shadows and Dust” sees IRON KINGDOM exploring darker lyrical themes, death, hardship, impermanence, while maintaining the triumphant spirit and melodic fire that define their sound. “This album plays in a dark realm of topics, but I think that’s what will make it accessible to people going through tough times. The music shows hope for a positive way out. It’s a journey from front to back,” adds Osterman. The album’s artwork by Alan Lathwell was inspired by the track “Blood and Steel” and the Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson, depicting an army marching through a harsh, unforgiving landscape, a metaphor for perseverance through adversity. IRON KINGDOM will celebrate the release of “Shadows and Dust” with a hometown headline show at the Rickshaw Theatre on June 5, delivering the high‑energy, classic‑metal stage show they’ve become known for. Info at https://orangetickets.ca/detalles_evento.php?id_evento=2127 Following the album launch, the band will hit the road across Western Canada with confirmed festival appearances at Armstrong Metal Fest and Loud As Hell Festival.

Celebrating 6 years of existence, THE TROOPS OF DOOM immortalizes its own studio version of “God Of Thunder,” the classic by Kiss, bringing together renowned guest musicians from different styles: Chuck Billy (TESTAMENT), Andria Busic (DR SIN / ULTRAJE A RIGOR), PJ (JOTA QUEST), and Martin Furia (DESTRUCTION / BARK), who not only recorded the guitar solo but also handled mixing and mastering.
Jairo “Tormentor” Guedz explains: “Since The Troops of Doom was formed back in 2020, we’ve used ‘God Of Thunder’ as a pre-intro in our shows. Whenever the audience hears this song playing through the PA, they already know the band is about to hit the stage. It’s almost a ritual for us. We all grew up listening to Kiss, so this track has always held a special meaning.”
The recording features Alex Kafer on vocals, Marcelo Vasco and Jairo Guedz on guitars, and Alexandre Oliveira on drums. This also marks the final collaboration of guitarist Marcelo Vasco, who recently announced his departure from the band and will perform his farewell show on May 1st at CDM Metal Fest, in Campo do Meio/MG.
The legendary Chuck Billy, vocalist of Testament, is one of the biggest names in thrash metal worldwide, with a solid career since the 1980s and albums that have influenced generations. Andria Busic, an icon of Brazilian hard rock, built his career fronting Dr. Sin and currently plays with Ultraje a Rigor, in addition to past stints with bands such as Platina, Cherokee, and Taffo. PJ, bassist of Jota Quest, brings his signature groove and a funky swing that adds a new dynamic to the track. Meanwhile, Martin Furia, producer and guitarist of Destruction, contributes his technique and extensive experience in major metal productions.
“We are huge fans of all the musicians involved. Each one was carefully chosen for representing something we truly admire. That makes the result even more special. Above all, this song is a celebration of what connects us: the love for Kiss and heavy music,” adds Jairo.
The classic album Destroyer, which features “God Of Thunder,” recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. Additionally, during the production process of this track last year, the rock world said goodbye to the legendary Ace Frehley, original guitarist of Kiss. All of this makes this recording a heartfelt tribute to his legacy.
THE TROOPS OF DOOM will perform two shows in Brazil before hitting the road for their upcoming European tour, which includes appearances at some of the most iconic metal festivals in the world, such as Wacken Open Air and Headbangers Open Air in Germany, Alcatraz in Belgium, and Vagos Metal Fest in Portugal, among others.
Before crossing the Atlantic, the band will perform in April at the Wacken Warm Up Party in São Paulo, alongside Korzus, The Mist, and Krisiun. In May, they will take the stage at the CDM Fest in Campo do Meio/MG, sharing the lineup with bands such as Artillery, Viper, and other heavy metal forces.
On the surface, STORMO are a band of musicians, but beneath one’s initial glance lurks a multifaceted outlet of performance art and expression. Formed in 2007, STORMO have become a pillar of the European screamo scene, combining elements of hardcore, screamo and noise, entwined with poetic story-telling, to create emotional music that cuts through with razor-sharp intention. Comprised of Luca Rocco (Vocals) Federico Trimeri (Bass, Electronics) Michael Barletta (Guitar) and Stefano Rutolini (Drums), the band prides themselves on their relentless touring schedule and consistent musical output, releasing five LPs since 2018 and sharing the stage with legendary acts such as Converge, Blind Girls, Birds In Row, as well as performing at renowned festivals, including Roadburn and Fluff Fest.
The band have always nurtured a strong DIY ethic. They create their own artwork/visuals and have booked shows all over Europe, proving that they need not rely on others to make things happen. For this very reason, they decided it was time to create their own record label ANFESIBENA to house their forthcoming LP ‘Sogni Che Invadono il Cielo‘. ANFESIBENA was created in retaliation to the state of the music industry and allowing them the passage to release what they want, when they want and with no chains to hold their creativity back.
Translating to ‘Dreams That Invade The Sky’, ‘Sogni Che Invadono Il Cielo’ is STORMO’s emotionally aggressive follow-up to 2025’s ‘Tagli/Talee’. Written across the span of 2025, this album takes the screamo-infused-hardcore sound that STORMO have perfected over the last decade and introduces elements of black metal, post-rock and noise to showcase a new level of ferocity, driven by the album’s message of finding hope within the wasteland of our modern society and political landscape. The band expands on these themes present on the new record…
“This record is the natural subsequent step of our last work Tagli/Talee; it’s an album that speaks about finding a way to give shape to the future we want, even if the world around us does everything to kill our hopes. It speaks about being able to recognize the beauty that is still present around us even if it’s hidden under layers of darkness, about being able to create networks that can grow even in these terrible conditions and that can resist todays bad weather.
Therefore, graphically speaking, we chose to represent all this with a series of pictures taken in the last 3 years between Ponza island (IT) and Terceira island (PT); two volcanic islands, far away from the coast, with a specific and unique natural environment developed in very hard climatic conditions. Small plants holding on sharpened rocks, against big waves, under a violent sun, still living, still giving shape to a strong ecosystem that brings life to a place where, apparently, death should have won. Now more than ever we need the same strength. And music and art can help us connect through our different roots and branches. We will be dreams that invade the sky leaving dust in their wake.”
Undeterred by the state of the world, STORMO have are on a mission to let their creativity bloom and inspire others to do the same. ‘Sogni Che Invadono il Cielo‘ is out today!
