The groundbreaking Heavy EDM project of Ragga Ragnars (Netflix‘s series Vikings) and Derek Engemann (Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals & Scour), ECHO CVLT, proudly launch their debut single, “Diamond Hands.”

“Diamond Hands” ignites the dance floor with hard-style EDM intensity, melodic pop hooks, and metallic guitar drive, daring you to hold on for dear life. The debut track arrives alongside an official music video shot in Ragnars‘ homeland of Iceland, available below. The single is available via Arson Theory.

On the new single and her return to music, Ragga Ragnars shares:

“Music wasn’t something I originally planned on doing, but this project felt like the perfect kind of challenge. Jumping into ‘Diamond Hands’ pushed me way outside my comfort zone in the best way possible. It has been so fun, a little chaotic and full of energy. It reminded me that some of the best things happen when you just say yes and go for it.”

Derek Engemann adds:

“This tune pulled me in a new direction creatively. ‘Diamond Hands’ mixes chaos, melody, and hard-hitting dance floor energy in all the right ways. Crank those speakers and Hold On For Dear Life!”

ECHO CVLT emerges at the intersection of distortion and club intensity. With recording officially underway in 2024, ECHO CVLT was founded by “Buzzsaw” (Derek Engemann of Scour and Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals), fusing metallic guitars, hard dance rhythms, and widescreen hooks into a sound built to move rooms and shake foundations. The initial offering, “Diamond Hands,” features a striking vocal performance from artist and actress Ragga Ragnars (History Channel’s Vikings); casting a cold Icelandic tension deep into the track. ECHO CVLT is shaped by concepts outside traditional heavy metal structures, existing as a parallel creative outlet alongside Engemann’s current projects.

“There is a lot of music resting idle in the cellar,” Engemann explains. “Ideas that never quite resonated in the right avenue… until now. The main guitar hook for ‘Diamond Hands’ was actually written ages ago back in 2008. It was never abandoned, it just needed the right track to thrive.” As Engemann began exploring electronic music production, the riff naturally found its purpose eventually taking shape as a hard edged dance driven composition. Unknown at the time, the final piece of the puzzle would begin to reveal itself in 2022 when Engemann met Ragga Ragnars at a biohacking conference in Beverly Hills. Already familiar with her work as an actress, Engemann was struck by her musical depth; especially after hearing her performance on Broken Wings with Kieran O’Riley.

“There was a purity and strength to her tone that immediately stood out. I was blown away.” he says. “Once the music for ‘Diamond Hands’ was completed, I kept hearing her presence in it, almost as if the riffs had already shaped themselves around her voice before she ever sang a note.” When Engemann reached out, the timing felt unusually precise. Ragnars had just put the intention out to return to music, opening that door again the very same week.

“It was one of those moments when the Matrix just aligned,” Engemann notes. “A couple months later she happened to be in San Diego, we tracked the vocals, and the song took on a life of its own.” With the song complete, momentum continued to build. A planned trip to Iceland for unrelated filming turned into an opportunity to shoot the “Diamond Hands” video in Ragnars’ homeland; grounding the project visually in Iceland’s stark terrain and shifting storms and reflecting the tension at the core of the track.

Looking ahead, ECHO CVLT is positioned as an ongoing body of work with a clear forward trajectory, built to persevere beyond passing cycles. Future releases are in motion for 2026 and beyond, with unexpected collaborations and electrically charged tracks designed to level speakers. So it begins…

POST PULSE’s Third Full-Length Album “Lupaus” Is More Rock Than Death

Modern metal band Post Pulse has now released its third album, continuing its musical evolution toward a more melodic, catchy, and bigger-sounding production. While Halls of the Damned (2017) introduced the band’s stripped-down and brutally grooving death metal, and Return to the Halls (2024) revealed a more melodic and sensitive side of Post Pulse, the new album Lupaus (Finnish for “Promise”) shows what the band is capable of when all the rules are removed – once again.

Post Pulse’s music now leans more toward rock than death metal. Clean vocals and distinct melodies take up more space, the band’s Finnish roots are strongly present, and instead of relentless speed, the tempos are oppressively heavy. Lupaus feels like the product of a mature band at the peak of its creativity – a band with a strong identity, roots, and the courage to reinvent itself.

With the new album, the genre of Post Pulse, founded in 2015, needs redefining. Perhaps it could be called modern death-rock.

Lupaus is a five-track, 45-minute work culminating in the album’s closing 22-minute metal monolith, “The Hole.” The album deals with themes we encounter daily in the news and in society, including war, domestic violence, depression, substance abuse, and social exclusion.

The album came together relatively quickly, almost like the result of burst of inspiration after a complete “dry spell”, and it all began with the idea of a 20-minute metal composition. Following Return to the Halls, chief songwriter Antti Karhu felt completely drained, and the musical direction for the next release was unclear – the only certainty was that the same album would not be made again.

The singles “Not My War,” “Lupaus,” and “Incredible Creatures” have previously been released from the album.

The album was mixed by Juhis Kauppinen, known as a vocalist of Merta, and mastered by Miro Kiiski. The album cover is a painting by artist Juuso Laatio.

BLOOD COMMAND Turn Betrayal into a Summer Anthem on ‘Flowers To A Knife Fight’

With ‘Flowers To A Knife Fight’, Norwegian deathpop punks Blood Command turn betrayal, disappointment and emotional exhaustion into a blazing modern punk anthem built for sweaty clubs and massive festival singalongs alike.

Stream here: https://arisingempire.com/bloodcommand

Fueled by explosive energy, razor sharp hooks and the band’s unmistakable blend of punk urgency, pop sensibility and chaotic heaviness, the track captures the moment where heartbreak transforms into defiance. Driven by the instantly memorable refrain “I’m never gonna be that dumb”, ‘Flowers To A Knife Fight’ channels the frustration of broken trust and fading idols into a massive shout along chorus impossible to shake.

Lyrics about stolen light, empty apologies and losing faith in the people once held closest give the song an emotional rawness beneath its infectious energy. Rather than sinking into bitterness, Blood Command turn personal disappointment into something empowering, loud and unapologetically alive. Bursting with punchy riffs, relentless momentum and the band’s signature deathpop chaos, the single balances aggression and melody with effortless confidence.

Since forming in 2008, Blood Command have built a cult following through their fearless genre bending sound, acclaimed live performances and relentless touring alongside artists such as Refused, Kvelertak and Biffy Clyro. With Kerrang! acclaim and multiple Spellemann nominations under their belt, the band continue to push punk into bold new territory.

New Single ‘Elysium’ Sees HOPSYDIAN Embracing Darkness And Divinity

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 31, 2026

Hopsydian push emotional extremity and crushing heaviness to new heights with their latest single ‘ELYSIUM’, a dark and cinematic descent into fractured identity, spiritual abandonment and the violent pursuit of transcendence.

Stream here: https://arisingempire.com/hopsydian

Combining relentless modern metalcore aggression with sacred choir elements, towering atmosphere and beatdown loaded riffs, the track balances brutality and beauty with unsettling intensity. Driven by themes of inner ruin, corrupted faith and self deification, ‘ELYSIUM’ explores the emotional conflict between guilt and empowerment. Lyrics like “Every scar is a vow I survived” and “There’s grace in sin” paint a portrait of someone shaped by pain, no longer searching for salvation but becoming something terrifyingly divine in the process.

The song constantly shifts between whispered confession and explosive defiance, mirroring the psychological collapse unfolding beneath its massive production. Haunting choirs echo like fractured prayers throughout the track, colliding with crushing breakdowns and punishing drums that amplify the tension between sin and transcendence. As the song builds toward its radiant and emotionally overwhelming chorus, Hopsydian create a sound that feels both apocalyptic and euphoric, equal parts spiritual reckoning and violent rebirth.

UK Doom Metal Heavyweights GODTHRYMM Release New Album “Projections”, Out Now

UK doom metal heavyweights GODTHRYMM release their highly anticipated new album “Projections” today via Profound Lore Records.

With “Projections”, GODTHRYMM bring to a close a journey that began with their 2020 debut “Reflections” and continued with 2023’s critically acclaimed “Distortions”. In the years since “Reflections”, the band have steadily built a reputation as one of the most notable emerging acts from the UK’s doom scene, often recognized for channeling the spirit of early-to-mid ‘90s British doom metal – a sound closely associated with genre pioneers such as My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, and Anathema.

Considering GODTHRYMM was formed and is helmed by UK doom metal veteran Hamish Glencross (formerly of My Dying Bride, Vallenfyre, and Solstice) and features drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels (formerly of My Dying Bride, Anathema, and Solstice), that classic UK doom metal DNA is already deeply embedded in the band’s sonic fabric.

This is clearly reflected on “Projections”, which is far from a nostalgic exercise, instead expanding further on the foundations laid by “Distortions”. With its expanded lineup, the album sees GODTHRYMM pushing their sound into new levels of depth, complexity, and dynamic range, while still retaining the colossal, emotionally charged heaviness that has defined the band’s identity since its inception. The result is a work that expands their sound further in both scope and cohesion – arguably their most layered, varied, complex, and aggressive release to date.

Stream the album HERE

As Hamish Glencross explains: “On this new album we present to you songs that channel our passion, our sorrow, our love, our fury – the very essence that makes us who we are, and we hope you find some kindred reflection in yourselves on this journey. Our first album ‘Reflections’ was a rekindling of our passion and fire for the music we love, the second album ‘Distortions’ took that template and evolved it ever further with grandeur and vision. ‘Projections’ takes everything that has brought to this point, and delves into our very musical souls with the appropriate introspection, diversity and contrasts of our emotions that define us. This is who we are, and we project all of this through our new album.“

He continues: “The vision and writing for ‘Projections’ commenced as the recording of the previous album ‘Distortions’ was in its completion. The direction was to push ourselves further in musical scope and complexity, and was then driven further by artistic ambition in a new lineup showcased on ‘The Light’ EP, but also then influenced by life’s challenges and subsequent personal tragedy within the band. The songs are a reflection of love, sorrow and fury which we all feel.“

Tracklist:
01. Trenches Deep
02. Truth In My Own
03. The Sun Never Fell
04. Endure My Skin (feat. Aaron Stainthorpe)
05. Jewels
06. Hope Is Eternal

“Projections” was recorded at various stages throughout the last year at different studios with Andy Hawkins and Glencross at the helm. Cover art was done by Mitchell Nolte.

The album is out now on Profound Lore Records and is available for purchase HERE

FUTURE PALACE Announce New Album “Resurgence” + Share Video for New Single ‘Resurge’

Germany’s FUTURE PALACE are thrilled to announce their forthcoming fourth album RESURGENCE. It arrives July 31 via Century Media. Pre-order it here.

The album is a powerful exploration of isolation, inner conflict, and the struggle to rebuild oneself. Blending post-hardcore intensity with cinematic electronics, soaring melodies, and crushing breakdowns, the Berlin trio dives deep into themes of depression, doubt, and emotional transformation.

Ultimately, Resurgence captures the fragile moment where despair slowly turns into strength — and is proof of the redemptive power of music.

Alongside the album announcement, the band invites fans and listeners to dive deep into their world with the video for the new single “RESURGE.” Watch it here.

The track finds the band playing with nu metal textures and buzzsaw riffs, retaining their ear worm hooks and signature sonic swells.

Vocalist Maria Lessing displays her multi-layered vocals talents, effortlessly shifting from scaled-the-bowels-of-hell screams to stunningly sweet melodic bursts.

“Musically, ‘Resurge‘ felt very nu metal right from the start when writing it,” says guitarist Manuel Kohlert.” So you can call it another experiment since we didn’t do that kind of music yet. Sidenote: When writing the instrumental I had a Japanese video game in mind, which I really liked as a kid, the soundtrack was also phenomenal. It is called ‘Solatorobo.'”

Lessing weighs in, saying, “This song is about doubting everything and every decision you’ve made so far in your life. Thinking about what it would be like if you would completely restart and be a totally different person — but also sacrifice everything and everyone you have in your life currently. It’s supposed to convey deep despair and self-doubt. What would life be like, if you were reborn today?”

She furthers, “It also picks up the music video story from our previous release ‘Deep Blue.’ At the end of the video, the crew of the submarine gets lost in the ocean, after the submarine sank. Their old friend, the siren, which attacked them because of a misunderstanding, welcomes them again in a new world, but the submarine crew has to sacrifice their human form to survive and become a new creature.”

Lessing finishes, “Musically, this song a strong nu metal energy, which has a nostalgic, but also modern feeling to it. It’s supposed to catch you but also portray the despair of the message, which I find the chorus represents best.”

RESURGENCE TRACK LISTING:
“Deep Blue”
“Resurge“
“Supernova“
“Disintegrate”
“The Shades”
“Nixy”

Future Palace, whose lineup is rounded out by drummer Johannes Früchtenicht, embody the emotional highs and lows of human life through a constantly shifting artistic lens. Their songs delve deep into internal struggles and shed light on issues surrounding mental health, topics that remain far too stigmatized in modern society. Over the past years, Future Palace have become one of Europe’s most exciting alternative metal acts, propelled by their intense live energy and a constantly growing international fanbase. Their recent North American tour marked their first major venture across the Atlantic, earning widespread praise and further expanding their global reach. In Europe, their latest headline tour set new milestones with numerous sold-out and upgraded shows across the continent. With a rapidly growing catalogue, rising streaming numbers, and a global fan community, Future Palace are entering their most ambitious era yet.

Future Palace will spend the bulk of 2026 touring, with festival appearances and a fall tour on deck. All dates are below, including a return to the U.S. to appear at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville in September.
