ELVENKING Premiere Lyric Video for Epic New Single ‘The Hanging Tree’

April 28, 2023 will see the masters of heavy metal, pagan, folk and melodic death metal, Elvenking, return to fantasy with their epic, new album “Reader Of The Runes – Rapture”, through AFM Records! The band’s eleventh studio album marks the sequel to their 2019 blockbuster record “Reader of the Runes – Divination”.

Elvenking set sail to horizons more distant than ever before, boldly taking the world by storm with their quintessentially unique approach to heavy, powerful music. As guitarist Aydan and vocalist Damna recently revealed, “Part 2 is darker, it needed to be tragic and violent and this gave us the chance to fully breathe the soundscape we already had in mind as we started to write songs in early 2020. We feel that with this album, we have cast a milestone and set a further limit in what we can do by mixing wisely what we deeply love in metal. We are very satisfied with all the shades that compose these eleven songs; altogether they make a canvas we are very proud of.”

But give ear, following the previously-released, first album single “Rapture”, today, Elvenking premiered a haunting lyric video for the epic track “The Hanging Tree”! Watch the new clip here:

Get the song on all digital platforms HERE!

Says the band: “The Hanging Tree is a song that sets a violent darker tone as we dive deep into the core of the story narrated in the second part of the “Reader of the Runes” trilogy. If “Rapture” was more epic, slow paced and filled with many different shades and textures, “The Hanging Tree” is a merciless fast cavalcade that goes straight to the point with a heavy fast riffing, melodic yet aggressive vocals, big choirs in the chorus, two insane guitar solos and a folk break in the middle that our dear EK fans will definitely love. It will surely be a highlight in our forthcoming live shows.”

Ever since their inception in 1997, Elvenking mastered their way to their own identity with courage and bravado, leaving behind the shackles of genres step by step before they truly broke out with their 2014 monument “The Pagan Manifesto”. Elvenking have been defying all genres, now feeling quite at home in their very own enchanted realm. With “Rapture”, the Italian collective delivers part two of their monumental “Reader of the Runes” trilogy, and an epic metal quest of woe and despair, wrought with mysterious figures, dark magic and an altogether mesmerizing autumnal flair reminiscent of a forest glade during an Indian Summer. It’s more than just a metal album. It’s a moving story set to fabulous songs, bridging the gap between fantasy and reality. Many times before, Elvenking have weaved powerful magic into the world. This time, they truly came into their own, wresting their best effort yet from a global pandemic.

“Reader Of The Runes – Rapture” was written between 2020 and 2022, and was recorded between May and October 2022 by the band and renowned producer Scott Atkins (Cradle of Filth, Behemoth) who also took over mixing and mastering duties.
Set to be released on April 28, 2023 through AFM Records, the album pre-sale is available at THIS LOCATION!

Finnish GOLDEN ROT Release Debut Single ‘Reap What You Sow’, Out Now

Finnish alternative metal band GOLDEN ROT was formed during the spring of 2022 by the guitarists and lead vocalists Pauliina Vuolanne and Ville Haavisto. What started out as a duo, quickly grew into a strong four-piece band with the addition of Olli Paajanen (bass) and Samuel Arola (drums).

The band members each have gained experience in various projects in heavy music and brought different influences and styles with them. The songs ring out with a fresh blend of 90´s alternative, metalcore, progressive metal and early 2000´s catchy radio rock.

Their debut song revolves around the environmental chaos we are bringing forth.

“Reap What You Sow” was written by Pauliina and Ville to express the choices that we make as a society that have brought us to this point, and which we never seem to stop making.

“While the riffs and the themes are quite dark, there is a sense of comfort in the idea that we are all in this together”, the two said.

The heart of the song lies in the vastly different, yet beautifully merging voices of Pauliina and Ville, both of which seamlessly navigate through gentle clean parts to raw and aggressive screams.

This is backed up with heavy hitting band instruments and discreet electronic production.

The singer duo had been making music together for several projects, but with the addition of Olli and Samuel the group really became whole, and the writing process is now a joint operation to voice each one’s feelings and ideas. The band is planning to hit the stages in the near future, while working on some new material.

Italian Avantgarde/Folk Entity POSEIDON to Release Debut Album in February

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 20, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Poseidon. Leave a comment

Brucia Records is proud to present POSEIDON‘s highly anticipated self-titled debut album, due out February 28th, 2023 on digital and CD + notebook edition including postcards.

POSEIDON
is the eponymous collaboration album between Argento, Azoth (both SPITE EXTREME WING, IANVA) and Algol (HIEMS, FORGOTTEN TOMB, KIRLIAN CAMERA).

POSEIDON started to take shape in 2006 when Argento and Algol were visiting Le Tombe beach on the southwest side of the island of Elba.

On that rugged and uncontaminated shore made of black serpentine stones blending into the dark abyss of the night, near the site of ancient Etruscan tombs, they both shared the ambition of being able to replicate the hypnotic poetry of the Sea, mystically uniting Sky and Earth with its repetitive yet ever-changing flow of music.

And just like waves, POSEIDON’s music moves, wanders and becomes one with the singing Sea, flowing effortlessly, and blending beneath the underwater currents of its stream a unique mix of Acoustic Black Metal, Folk Music, Psychedelic Rock and Avantgarde.

POSEIDON’s music is vastly improvised: written and recorded during ritualistic night sessions, using a vast range of unorthodox mediums and instruments such as mellotron, tube radio and various folkloristic frame drums.

A phenomenally multi-layered work, coming from the depth of the ocean like a message in a bottle containing a sacred ritual spelled in ancient tongues, and aimed at those souls that are curious and adventurous enough to go out to sea, leaving the land behind.

The CD edition comes with a special notebook written through asystematic narrative path with Alessia Brunello, and inspired by “Burn After – A performance Book” by Elenia Depedro.

Tracklist:

I. Aphros
II. On the cave of the nymphs
III. Metamorphosis
IV. The Flying Dutchman (Algol remix)
V. Ci vuole un legno or Le radeau de la Méduse (Feat. Void)
VI. Opalescence 101
VII. A Saturno

Tracks I, II, III, VI composed and recorded in a ritual night session of August MMVI.
Tracks IV originally composed and recorded for Spite Extreme Wing (Ultra) in a ritual night session of December MMVII, remixed by Algol.
Tracks V composed and recorded in a forgotten night session (featuring Void on bass).
Tracks VII composed and recorded in a ritual night session of December MMVI.

Algol – guitars, percussions (bodhran, congas, cymbals, drums), voice, sea samples
Argento – guitars, tube radio, mantra samples
Azoth – bass, keys (Mellotron, Yamaha EX7, Korg Microkorg)

All music by POSEIDON.

Guest bass on Track V: Void
Cover Photo by Roberto Ridi, Le Tombe (The Graves) beach, book Pianeta Elba. Printed by Edizione Immagine, 2019.
Notebook written through Asystematic Narrative Path with Alessia Brunello. Inspired by: Elenia Depedro, Burn After. A performance book printed by Libri Aparte, 2011.

Italian doom/sludge stalwarts GRIEFBRINGER have unveiled the new lyric video for “Ghosts of the Desert”. The song is taken from the band’s debut album, “The Horrible Wilting”, out now via Church of Crow Records.

Watch the video at THIS LOCATION.

Invisible Oranges hosted the exclusive premiere of the album HERE.

GRIEFBRINGER is a doom/sludge monster ready to roar: if you like to drown in grieving sounds made by huge distorted walls and bleeding ballads, this is for you.

“We’re all from the gloomy and dark side of the Italian scene, with 30 years of international experience in bands such as MONUMENTUM, HAUNTED, SCHIZO, HELL OBELISCO, just to name a few.
Collaboration with the previous projects convinced us to get together and explore the depth of the soul in this new creature. Darkness and godliness of places and images are our most important source of inspiration.`
After years of recording and mixing and mastering and sacrificial offers to the gods of dusk we’re ready to finally unleash ‘The Horrible Wilting’. The beast has been mastered by the Grammy winner Giovanni Versari at La Maestà studio, plus reamp by Marco Mastrobuono at Kick Recording Studio and recording, mixing and wisdom by Marco Paradisi at Boat Studio.
8 fresh new songs, 8 chances to freak out. Enjoy”.

Tracklist:

01. Blind Harbinger
02. Disfigurement
03. A Warlock
04. Ghosts of the Desert
05. Grimace of Madness
