HEIDEVOLK Premiere New Music Video for Album Title Track ‘Wederkeer’

Since the release of their impressive 2005 debut, De strijdlust is geboren, HEIDEVOLK have taken the heavy music scene by storm, conquering stages throughout the world with their very own brand of pagan folk metal. Following their latest offering, the much-acclaimed, VUUR VAN VERZET (2015), February 24, 2023 will see the Dutch band release their seventh studio masterpiece, WEDERKEER, through Napalm Records.

After previously-released first album singles, “Klauwen Vooruit” and “Drink met de Goden (Walhalla)”, today, HEIDEVOLK have premiered a brand new music video for the epic, acoustic album title track!

The band comments:

“Today we proudly present our third music video from WEDERKEER!

The titletrack “Wederkeer” is a powerful acoustic anthem about inner strength, pride and beliefs. In the video we witness a young woman wandering through the cold dark forest. She is lost yet something inside her fuels her quest and tells her to persist. Suddenly a luring hymn draws her to the scene of glimmering flares of a fire through the trees, and shadows of men singing a pure and uncompromising anthem. When she eventually enters the circle of light, the scene she thought she witnessed has disappeared, as if it was never there…

With the release of our new album drawing near this raw acoustic track gives you yet another glimpse of what is coming your way. Join us, for the Pagan Metal Brotherhood is on the rise!”

In a world of myths, nature and legends of the Veluwe region of the Netherlands, the band’s upcoming concept album – based on the interpretations of the runes – is a powerful odyssey of the Self, deeply rooted in metal and folklore. WEDERKEER (meaning to “return” or “revive”) invites the listener to take a step back from the incessant barrage of media and stimuli and look inside to find out who we are, what is driving us, what our values are, and what we’ve learned from life up until now.

With dual clean vocals, irresistibly catchy songs, traditional instruments and fast metal riffing all fueled by their folkloric fire and pagan pride, HEIDEVOLK delivers an uncompromising sound and musical adventure. WEDERKEER, makes no exception, and proves why the Arnhem-based six-piece is one of the best, unrivaled and most exciting bands of their genre and beyond!

The album was recorded at Sandlane Recording Facilities, mixed by Joost van den Broek and mastered by Darius van Helfteren. HEIDEVOLK knows how to perfectly release proud hymns and direct, in-your-face metal songs, and the addition of broad choirs and various folk musicians on vocals, violins, cello, bukkehorns and more traditional medieval instruments, make WEDERKEER not only a bombastic folk and pagan metal record at its best, but a glorious album return for HEIDEVOLK!

EMBRYO Release New Video ‘Darkest Lights’ Feat. Drummer George Kollias

Italian melodic death metallers EMBRYO are sharing the first glimpse of brutality from their forthcoming fifth album “A Vivid Shade on Misery“, which features the band’s recruitment of international drumming powerhouse George Kollias (Nile) for its recording.

Due out on March 17th, 2023 via Rockshots Records, Embryo shares its first single “Darkest Lights” accompanied by a music video. The track is melodic, but with an unforgettable groove.

Digital – https://bfan.link/darkest-lights

“A Vivid Shade on Misery” follows the band’s 2017’s “A Step Beyond Divinity” (Art Gates Records), 2015’s Self-Titled (logic(il)logic Records) that featured Fleshgod Apocalypse’s drummer Francesco Paoli, 2010’s “No God Slave” and their 2006 debut “Chaotic Age“.

Since the band’s inception, Embryo has toured across Europe with Melechesh, Keep of Kalessin, Tribulation, Nile, Immolation, Ragnarok, Monuments of Misanthropy, and Suffocation along with performing on festivals such as Masters of Rock (CZ), and Total Metal Festival (Italy).

Embryo began writing their 5th offering in 2020 with George Kollias and entered the Domination Studio in July 2021 with producer Simone Mularoni, and engineer Simone Bertozzi.

Monolithic, intense, powerful, technical, and melodic this new album features eight brand new tracks and is another concept album like its predecessor “A Step Beyond Divinity”. The band is inspired by historical Italian figures of the Renaissance era and their tormented lives, their absolute genius, and the gifts they gave to the world. While the previous album “A Step Beyond Divinity” was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci, this new work is totally inspired by Michelangelo Merisi alias Caravaggio, an Italian painter active in Rome for most of his artistic life.

“With “A Vivid Shade on Misery” we want to have listeners dive into our world by giving them brutal and atmospheric music melted together in the way we love to do plus having Kollias drum on this new album, one of the best drummers in the world, is just an absolute honour. Overall, fans will find this album has the “Embryo” matrix, there’s no doubt about that. It will be a more direct record and its songs make up a pattern that takes the listener on a journey through torments and anxieties, but which at the same time gives him pure energy.” adds the band.

From the band’s first album “Chaotic Age” (2006) to today, Embryo‘s music has evolved over the years. On the first record, they were more brutal and messier, now their compositions are much more “thought out” and brilliant. If they had to use one word to describe their compositional evolution they would say “sharp”.

Recommended for fans of Strapping Young Lad, Meshuggah, Fear Factory, Death, and Dimmu Borgir, Embryo will be sharing singles and videos in the coming months in lead up to the record’s release.

Progressive doom rock new-comers THE ABBEY, ft. Natalie Koskinen (SHAPE OF DESPAIR), Jesse Heikkinen (HENGET, ITERUM NATA, etc), Vesa Ranta (SENTENCED, THE MAN-EATING TREE), and Janne Markus (THE MAN-EATING TREE), are now revealing another haunting song, “Starless,” along with a music video! The song is the latest single from the band’s forthcoming debut full-length, ‘Word of Sin,’ in which Koskinen’s bone-chilling powerhouse vocals are front and center! The song and video can be found at THIS LOCATION.

THE ABBEY comments on the offering: “It’s the darkest song in the album, both musically and lyric-wise. Composed by guitarist Janne Markus, ‘Starless’ shows the heavier side of the band. The lyrics by singer Natalie Koskinen contemplate the inner emptiness and the loss of will to live.”

In conjunction, THE ABBEY is now launching pre-sales for the CD and digital formats of ‘Word of Sin,’ which are due on February 17, 2023! The vinyl counterpart will be released on July 7 and pre-sales will be revealed at a later date.

Get ready for an apocalyptic journey! March 3, 2023 will see Swedish melodic power/heavy metal act KARDINAL SIN release their forthcoming studio album, entitled “S.A.L.I.G.I.A”, via Massacre Records.

Offering more complex songs as well as darker lyrics about the world situation now and then, and how we push humanity towards the apocalypse through war and environmental destruction – compared to the band’s debut – “S.A.L.I.G.I.A”, promises to feature more elaborate songs and arrangements, and is a musical journey through history from the Middle Ages to present.

Now, the band has shared a music video for their first single, “Siege Of Jerusalem”, featuring Ellinor “Hellinor” Asp on guest vocals! Watch the new clip here:

Get the song on all digital platforms HERE!

“This song is about the siege of Jerusalem in the year 1099 and how King Salahadin’s legions gathered outside the walls of Jerusalem and the anxiety of the Knights Templar holding the city. It’s a mid-tempo song with an Arabic kinda sound to it. KARDINAL SIN are very proud to have the amazing voice of Ellinor “Hellinor” Asp as a partner in crime to Daniel Wikerman, who gives the song that extra edge! “

“S.A.L.I.G.I.A” was mixed by Fredrik Folkare at Chrome Studios, and was mastered by Lawrence Mackrory (Obey Mastering). Slated to be released as CD Digipak, Ltd. Vinyl LP and Digital formats on March 3, 2023, the album pre-sale is now available at THIS LOCATION!

SCHIZOPHRENIA Release New Video for SLAYER’s ‘Necrophiliac’

On February 10, up-and-coming death/thrash metallers SCHIZOPHRENIA will release their brand new tribute EP “Chants Of The Abyss”. “Chants Of The Abyss” is no ordinary EP, instead the new release of the Antwerp four-piece features six cover songs and personal interpretations of timeless classics by cult acts such as Slayer, Judas Priest, Mistfits, Exodus, GBH and Morbid Angel. Bands that paved the way for many out there, shaped an entire scene and whose songs we all know and cherish all too well!

After the release of the first two singles “Maze Of Torment” (Morbid Angel) and “Bullet” (Misfits), the Belgian metallers of Schizophrenia follow up today with the next track – their very own interpretation of “Necrophiliac” by thrash icons SLAYER! The track comes with a brand new music video, which you can watch here:

Vocalist and bassist Ricky Mandozzi comments:

“Slayer has always been one of our main influences so it was an easy choice to pay tribute to them. We did it by covering a song from an album, at times underrated, but that embodies the definition of extreme metal. So here is our take on a song that we feel deserves more recognition due to its morbid lyrics, razor-sharp riffs and pounding drumbeats. Recording this one has been exciting  and challenging at the same time, especially for Lorenzo who had the chance to cover  another one of the most influential drummers, Dave Lombardo, along with Pete Sandoval from Morbid Angel not simply replicating their drum lines but giving his own take on the drums. We hope you’ll enjoy the outcome!“

“Chants Of The Abyss” will be coming out on February 10th and is available for pre-order at THIS LOCATION

Tracklist:

  1. Necrophiliac (Slayer cover)
  2. Maze Of Torment (Morbid Angel cover)
