Sensational symphonic metal outfit SERENITY have released a new live performance video for their catchy track “Souls and Sins”! The third single off of the recent live release, MEMORIA, was originally released on SERENITY’s latest chart-breaking studio album, The Last Knight (2020), and this time features two exciting guest appearances. The incredible Sascha Paeth, producer of Avantasia, supports the quartet on guitar, while talented Visions of Atlantis vocalist Michele Guaitoli lends his magical voice on the track, bringing fresh energy to SERENITY‘s distinctive dreamlike soundscape.

SERENITY on ”Souls and Sins”:
“This song is taken from our previous album, ‘The Last Knight’, that we released three years ago, and was inspired by the life of the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I. We feel honored to welcome well-known guests like Michele Guaitoli and Sascha Paeth for the performance of this song about the good and evil in our souls by reflecting the consequences of every action we take.“

Symphonic metal unit SERENITY offers a new approach to beguiling the senses with their live performance, MEMORIA, now on DVD and BluRay! Interpreting their illustrious songs anew in a conceptual show, they are sure to enchant listeners and viewers alike. Showcasing incredible hit density, the band embraces their symphonic power and provides a magical feeling throughout the entire performance. From classic folklore pieces like “Coldness Kills” that intrigues with its fairytale-like sound and classic instrumentals, to “Set The World On Fire” with catchy hooks and dashing soundscapes, SERENITY give it all in every single piece. On “Set the World on Fire” and “Broken Dreams”, the unit is joined on their journey by the smooth and magical voice of Marco Pastorino awakening old myths and legends anew. These dreamlike soundscapes are supported with enchanting guitar riffs in “Velatum” and “Souls and Sins” by none other than Sascha Paeth, the producer of Avantasia. This way, the band not only showcases their incredible musical talent supported by talented vocalist Georg Neuhauser, but also their love and dedication for the art of music. Touching ballads like “Journey Ends” and “Fairytales” supported by the incredible vocal range of legendary Visions of Atlantis vocalist Clémentine Delauney forge reminiscence of earlier times, while moving duets like “Changing Fate” refer to multifaceted Scottish mythology. In “Spirit of the Flesh”, Nicklas Müller offers rhythmic support by adding steady drums. As a special bonus on MEMORIA, the band taps Sascha Paeth and Michele Guaitoli from symphonic metal greats Visions of Atlantis for their stage performance of “Souls and Sins” and “Legacy of the Tudors”.

SERENITY on MEMORIA:
“After a long time of waiting, we’re excited to finally release our first live album. We still think back to the evening when we performed this very special show at KulturQuartier in Kufstein and we’re so proud we could bottle the unique atmosphere of this night and release it now under the title MEMORIA. Being able to perform this concert in this terrific atmosphere of a theater with so many guests was a really ‘once in a lifetime experience’ and we’re extremely happy to share it now with all of our fans.”

Australian Heavy Rockers JUPITER ZEUS Return with “Frequency Prison” Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 5, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: JUPITER ZEUS. Leave a comment

Heavy rock veterans, JUPITER ZEUS, from Perth Western Australia will release their third album titled Frequency Prison on January 31.

With each release, JUPITER ZEUS has added another piece to its unique puzzle. Their first EP, 2011’s Green Mosquito, introduced the band in a 13-minute flurry of deeply melodic, groove-heavy rock. Its follow-up, 2014’s On Earth expanded these foundations into an album of mammoth proportions. Eyes On The Prize (2017) brought further expansion still, pushing the band’s mutation of psychedelic doom to new heights. Their most recent release Central Ave (2020) is regarded as the band’s rawest and heaviest record to date, until now. Like with Central Ave, Frequency Prison again revisits the band’s ’90s heritage in much-loved death metal pioneers Nebula with a heavier musical direction. Massive riffs, entwined with ethereal vocals and passing guttural/growl vocal deliveries are openly displayed.

The opening track “Silent Screams” is one of the highlights of the album featuring a haunting piano intro with trademark bone-crunching Sabbath-esque grooves. The title track “Frequency Prison” exemplifies the band’s love of the power of the slow groove. And, needless to say, the record is overflowing with the truest trademark of JUPITER ZEUS: riffs combined with large slabs of stoner rock and doom-infused melancholy. The closing track “Chaos Reigns Supreme” is stripped back, with only acoustic guitar and the unmistakable baritone vocals of singer Simon Staltari at play. Lyrically, this song speaks of the current upheaval that the world is experiencing today. This is the dominant theme that permeates throughout the record.

As a body of work, the fourteen tracks could be regarded as a double album, quite audacious in today’s musical landscape, with the ever-shrinking attention spans of music consumers becoming the norm. The complex spectrum of ideas is itself the definitive sound of JUPITER ZEUS – captured in all its glory. As a band, they never tread the same ground twice, though they have always sounded like themselves. This is the true mark of originality, where familiarity and strangeness collide. Carrying the torch lit decades ago as younger men, Frequency Prison is the perfect snapshot of a time and place JUPITER ZEUS visited on their grand journey into the vast universe of heavy music.

Tracklist:
1) Silent Screams
2) Dystopia Nightmares
3) Stationary
4) Dangerous Freedom
5) No Where To Play
6) Plandemic
7) Falling Down
8) Mark Passio
9) It’s Not Happening
10) Written Off
11) Scientism
12) Frequency Prison
13) Merciful Father
14) Chaos Rain Supreme

Line-up:
Jeremy Graham – Bass
Aaron Smith – Drums
Simon Staltari – Vocals/guitars

Symphonic Proggers CARAVELA ESCARLATE Release New Single ‘Mandala’ from Upcoming Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 5, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: CARAVELA ESCARLATE. Leave a comment

With their third full-length album, simply titled “III”,  due out  on Karisma Records on the 27th January,  Brazilian Symphonic Proggers CARAVELA ESCARLATE  have released another song from the album. This time the chosen track is “Mandala”, which, in keeping with the album’s theme, takes a look at another significant period in history, as the band explains:

The introspective feel of this instrumental song, set over a solid mid-tempo groove, together with the epic moments of the chorus guided by mellotrons, leads the audience on a trip to the old cultures, in which circular forms represent the relationship between humankind and divine things.

“Mandala” can be streamed or downloaded from a number of services at this location.

Drawing inspiration from both English and Italian ‘70s Prog Rock, CARAVELA ESCARLATE was formed in 2011 in Rio de Janeiro.  Today’s lineup of Jove David Paiva on vocal, bass, guitar, Elcio Cáfaro on drums, and Ronaldo Rodrigues (ARCPELAGO, BLUE RUMBLE) on keyboard, create a sound that allows audiences into a world of organs and synthesisers, played over a solid foundation of drums and bass.

It is sound that is not too dissimilar to the exciting prog-rock trios of the 1970s, but there is an essential difference that imbues CARAVELA ESCARLATE’s music with an atmosphere that is original, and uniquely its own – because this is a band whose heritage enables it to take its international feel and blend into it a wealth of traditional and popular Brazilian music.

The Roman Empire, the Medieval  Period, Pre-Columbian Civilisations, and the Age of Discovery  were seminal periods in  the development of humanity and the world as we know it today,  and,  in “III”,  CARAVELA ESCARLATE  use their music to explores each period in a uniquely musical way.

With cover art  by the renowned British artist J.M.W.Turner, chosen for its depiction of a cataclysmic event, namely the eruption of Vesuvius which destroyed Pompeii in AD 79, track listing for “III” is as follows:

01. Bússola do Tempo
02. Castelos do Céu
03. Sonhos Medievais
04. Mandala
05. Cruz da Ordem
06. Ciclos
07. Filtro dos Sonhos

“III” will be released in CD, Digital and Vinyl formats,  is now available to pre-order from various services at
 https://link.karismarecords.no/CaravelaEscarlate_III

More information about CARAVELA ESCARLATE can be found on the band’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/caravelaescarlate/

KURT DEIMER Announces U.S. Shows with TESLA in January + New Horror Film

Singer KURT DEIMER stayed quite busy throughout 2022 – with the arrival of his debut EP, ‘Word Hard Rock Hard,’ which he recorded with his bandmate and creative partner (and Bon Jovi guitarist) Phil X.

And 2023 will see Deimer build his fanbase with further touring in the US.

“We got a couple more Tesla dates in January. I’m also going to shoot my second feature film that I star in, called ‘Scared to Death,’ along with Lin Shaye, she’s known for the ‘Insidious’ franchise and her role in Kingpin with Woody Harrelson, and Bill Moseley, who was in Rob Zombie’s ‘The Devil’s Rejects,’ amongst other projects.

And we already have further tour dates with Tesla in the Midwest with many, many more to come – starting in April, after my movie shoot.”

“2022 was the year we saw the band evolve. We continued to enhance our live show and become a really tight rock’n’roll band. Given that we are direct support, when we hit the stage, we entertain folks at the highest level – with the opportunity we’re given and the amount of space we’re given on stage. And 2022 has been a great bridge and a great training ground – ‘battle ground’ if you will – setting us up for all the big things that are about to happen in 2023. So, 2022 was the year of hard work. A year of figuring stuff out, a year making the necessary changes to continue to grow as a band and continue to grow our audience across the world.”

Deimer has also issued several music videos thus far, which can be viewed via these links:

“My Dad” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oqJpgkxjU0
“Hero” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPzlBPogD1M&t=42s
“Naïve” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sp-7ZopNcwQ
“Burn Together” (featuring Geoff Tate) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYWxNdXZqz4

With 2022 now in the rearview mirror, Deimer looks back upon the past twelve months with fondness. “Favorite moments from the band this year for sure was our five days that we did with Tesla in the beginning of September. Those were epic shows. We had come off the Yngwie Malmsteen tour, which was another great moment. With Tesla, we did House of Blues and auditoriums – we really got to play in front of a thousand plus every night, and converted even more fans. Another great memorable moment with those Tesla shows was when we came out on stage at the last show at the House of Blues in New Orleans, to play with them on ‘Signs.’ To be on stage with other musicians that I admire so much was a big highlight. And another highlight of 2022 was when we played to 3,000+ fans with Mushroomhead, at their big Halloween bash in Cleveland at the Agora.”

Undoubtedly, 2023 is going to be a big year for Kurt Deimer.

KATATONIA Release Official Video for Third Single ‘Birds’

Swedish masters of melancholic metal KATATONIA have released the third and final single, “Birds”, off of their upcoming, highly anticipated 12th record, Sky Void of Stars! The quick and energetic sound of this brand new track once again shows off KATATONIA’s explosive potential and their genre-bending style, carried by Renkse’s longing vocals. Alongside the single, KATATONIA present an atmospheric performance music video that harnesses the song’s energy and desolate power.

Since their foundation in 1991, KATATONIA have experimented with several different genres, slowly progressing from their roots in doom and death metal, while adding post-rock and progressive elements to develop their very own impressively versatile, unique style. After their one-year hiatus in 2018, the band surprised fans with the outstanding 2020 album, City Burials, a powerful combination of progressive rock and metal which stormed the European charts (e.g. peaking at #6 on the official German charts). Three years after their critically acclaimed comeback record, KATATONIA will deliver another hauntingly beautiful album with the poetic masterpiece Sky Void of Stars.

Jonas Renkse on “Birds”:
”The pulse of dereliction. The insatiable need to expire. Here come the birds.”

KATATONIA on the new album, Sky Void of Stars:
“Our 12th album, Sky Void of Stars, is a dynamic journey through vibrant darkness. Born out of yearning for what was lost and not found, the very peripheries of the unreachable, but composed and condensed into human form and presented as sounds and words true to the KATATONIA signum. No stars here, just violent rain.”

Pre-Order Sky Void of Stars HERE

With their previously released first single, “Atrium”, KATATONIA hit with a highly energetic atmosphere, holding a gloomy ambience with epic sounds and poetic lyrics to get lost in. The second single, album opener “Austerity”, provides a potent introduction to the album. Crashing through the dark, it convinces with memorable, mind-bending rhythms as it shifts from one elaborate guitar riff to another, perfectly showcasing the musical expertise and experience of the band. Topped off by the dark, conjuring voice of Renkse and mesmerizing lyricism, the gloomy mood for the album is set. Songs like the down-tempo “Opaline” and the moody “Drab Moon” fully embrace their melancholic sound, while the more fragile “Impermanence” is accented by the band’s original doom metal roots. Like a dark star, these pieces relume the dreariness, creating an ambient auditory experience with memorable hooks while still inducing the crashing sounds of hard guitar riffs and pounding drums. The experimental mastery of the quintet and their atmospheric approach is purely vivid, making this album a thrilling sensation.
