After a year of deep creative focus, Symphony of Sweden is preparing to enter a powerful new chapter with their new album âStand My Groundâ, a release that builds directly on the musical foundation of their acclaimed 2023 album âHauntedâ, but with renewed force, energy, and refinement.
According to producer and keyboardist Evan, the band deliberately chose continuity over reinvention when shaping the new album. The goal was evolution rather than disruption: âPeople will not get a nasty surprise. We focused on improving the songwriting, the performances, and the production, making each album better than the previous one.â
A Year in the Studio: 2025 as a Creative Turning Point
Throughout 2025, Symphony of Sweden made a strategic decision to step back from the stage and fully commit to studio work. The absence of deadlines allowed the band to explore ideas without pressure. âIt was a good choice,âEvan explains. âWe had the time to finish the album without too much stress.â Frontman Lee echoes this intensity, describing the new songs as the strongest material the band has ever created: âWe are always creating, always pushing. These songs are the best weâve ever made.â
Sound Evolution: Faster, Heavier, and More Powerful
While the band maintained their signature cinematic and organic sound, subtle shifts define âStand My Groundâ. Lee pushed for a more aggressive direction: âI wanted faster and more power. More upbeat and more rock. Evan and I put our heads together and created something awesome.â The result is a sound described by Evan as âorganic, powerful, and epicâ, larger than life, yet grounded enough to avoid artificial excess.
From Studio Precision to Live Energy
Even in production, perfection was not forced. Some of the albumâs defining moments came from inspired early takes rather than overworked mixes. âSometimes the first raw mix is the best one,âEvan admits. âDonât fix what isnât broken.â
Also contributing to the album were the musicians Henrik Bodin-Sköld (Guitars), Niklas “Bullen” Bengtsson (Drums) and Erik Arkö (Bass).
Now, with the studio chapter complete, the band is looking firmly toward the stage. 2026 marks the return of Symphony of Sweden as a live force, with Sweden as the starting point for upcoming performances.
Live Return Confirmed: May 30, 2026 â Platens, Linköping
The band has confirmed a special intimate but high-energy live show on May 30, 2026, at Platens in Linköping, Sweden. Despite the smaller venue, the promise is clear: âIt will be personal and intimate, combined with full blast energy from the stage,â says Evan. Lee adds with a grin: âBigger, better, harder, faster.â
Also confirmed is the open air rock festival Skogsröjet in FinspÄng Sweden  30 July-1August, 2026.

Just a few days ago, German folk metal institution SUBWAY TO SALLY bid farewell to the old year in thunderous style â with their Eisheilige Nacht tour. Continuing on in a more intimate and emotional vein, the Potsdam band will kick off the third part of the NACKT concert series on March 27, 2026 in Berlin under the banner NACKT III â LĂŒgen & Legenden (Naked III â Lies & Legends). SUBWAY TO SALLY set the mood today with a reinterpretation of their cult song âFeuerkindâ â stripped down and more haunting than ever.
The accompanying music video perfectly captures the intimate, fragile, and at the same time powerful atmosphere of the NACKT concerts. Between closeness and tension, melancholy and eruptive emotion, the band displays their exceptional versatility: acoustic, emotional, and visual.

âFeuerkindâ originally appeared on Nord Nord Ost, the bandâs eighth studio album, which entered the official German album charts at number five in 2005. To this day, the track is considered one of the most emotional and intense moments in the bandâs repertoire. It exemplifies what SUBWAY TO SALLY has stood for for over three decades: the ability to retell stories, reveal emotions, and constantly reinvent themselves without losing their core identity. The single is not only a tribute to their own history, but also a powerful sign of things to come.
In 2006, SUBWAY TO SALLY laid the foundation for an extraordinary live experience with their first NACKT tour, which proved so popular that it returned for a second round four years later.
