Progressive death metal entity HORRENDOUS has completed work on their fifth studio album, which will be released later this year by Season of Mist! More info will be revealed soon!

Additionally, the band will be performing a slew of shows in the United States, including appearances at Subterranean Dissonance Fest in Philadelphia, PA and Northwest Terror Fest in Seattle, WA! The full itinerary can be found below! Fans who attend these shows will get an exclusive first look at the new album as HORRENDOUS will be performing several new tracks!

HORRENDOUS Live U.S. Dates:
02/10: Brooklyn, NY @ Saint Vitus [TICKETS]
02/11: Philadelphia, PA @ Subterranean Dissonance Fest [TICKETS]
05/25-27: Seattle, WA @ Northwest Terror Fest [TICKETS]

HORRENDOUS will be following up 2018’s ‘Idol,’ which was named one of the best albums of 2018 by Pop Matters (#4), Invisible Oranges (#5), Metal Injection (#9), Revolver Magazine (#24), Decibel Magazine (#28), and Pitchfork.

‘Idol’ also found itself scoring several placings across the U.S Billboard charts, peaking at #16 Current Hard Music Albums, #25 on the Heatseekers chart, #55 on the Record Label/Independent Current Albums chart, and more.

‘Idol’ can be ordered, streamed, and downloaded HERE.

Drawing inspiration from both personal and national crises, ‘Idol’s’ music is a methodical and unapologetic take on dynamic, progressive death metal. The album sees HORRENDOUS at the highest echelon of  their musical creativity to date. Thematically, the ambitious new album is an exploration of defeat, of the gods we build in our minds to escape the responsibility of action and change as we relinquish our agency. The music in ‘Idol’ mimics this act of deity building, with sprawling compositions that are imposing in scope and mirror the great turmoil of our times. Tracks such as “Soothsayer,” “Golgothan Tongues,” and the monumental “Obolus” position the band in a league of their own, as one of the death metal’s leading new entities.

HORRENDOUS formed in 2009. The band’s three founding members (Damian Herring – guitar, vocals, Matt Knox – guitar, vocals, Jamie Knox – drums), driven by a desire to capture and rekindle the mystique of a bygone era in the history of metal, fused elements from progressive metal, old school death metal, and more, into a cohesive sonic landscape. These initial compositions resulted in the of release their debut full-length ‘The Chills’ in 2012. The album received critically acclaim upon release, and was cited as “a preposterously flawless debut album. The old school just got schooled.” (Metal Injection).

Following the release of ‘The Chills’, HORRENDOUS began to expand upon their traditional death metal leanings, conjuring a bolder, more sophisticated musical approach from a wide-cast net of elements beyond the limitations of any genre. This lead to the back-to-back releases of ‘Ecdysis’ (2014) and (after relocating to Philadelphia,) ‘Anareta’ (2015). Both albums were incredibly well-received by both the heavy metal underground and critics alike. Each successive record marked a new step in the sonic evolution of the band and carried them further on their adventurous journey of musical awakenings.

Upon the release of ‘Anareta’, HORRENDOUS saw significant acclaim from mainstream music journalism, as the record was championed as “stunning” by Pitchfork, “A momentous and unconventionally poignant achievement… Anareta is death metal painted not with just reds and grays, but with the palette of human experience.” (SPIN), and saw the band “fearlessly reaching skyward, peeling off guitar leads that climb like clock towers or church steeples: intricate constructions resulting in monuments that are breathtaking to behold from afar, and almost impossible to believe when examined up close.” (Stereogum)

‘Anareta’ went on to top many best-of lists in 2015, making appearances in Stereogum, Consequence of Sound, SPIN, Decibel Magazine, Apple Music, Yahoo Music, and countless other publications, blogs, and websites.

DISMINDED to Release “The Vision” Album on March 3rd

The third longplayer of the German death band DISMINDED will be called “The Vision” and will see the light of day on March 3rd via Black Sunset/MDD!

The new longplayer was recorded in summer 2022 at Tim Schlichting’s Flashback Recording Studios, while scene icon Harris Johns was responsible for mixing and mastering. The result is a no-frills ode to the melodic old school death metal of the nineties. 10 songs full of fervour and devotion with dragging, almost everything rolling down melodies, blast speed parts, pleading and cursing growls and screams – and all that in a contemporary garb, without pandering to “modern” genre expressions.

“The Vision” is a musical statement performed without compromise, which will make fans of the genre click their tongues! More infos and first samples soon, stay tuned!

WITCH RIPPER Release First Single + Video ‘Enter the Loop’

WITCH RIPPER have released the tongue-in-cheek video clip ‘Enter the Loop’ as the catchy first single taken from the forthcoming album “The Flight after the Fall”. The sophomore full-length of the American melodic sludge metal outfit is slated to hit stores on March 3, 2023 via Magnetic Eye Records. Watch the slightly spaced out video for ‘Enter the Loop’ now streaming here:

WITCH RIPPER comment: “We wanted to start off our new album with a musical bang, and ‘Enter the Loop’ is clearly making a statement about this band”, guitarist and vocalist Curtis Parker writes. “Yes, we can play heavy riffs with pummeling drums, we all know that. Yet with the addition of Chad on guitar and co-vocals, we’re now able to execute big dramatic musical passages inspired by bands that we love like Queen and David Bowie. ‘Enter the Loop’ represents a launching-off point for us both in lyrical and musical terms. It lets people know that they’re in for something special, and that this musical journey is just beginning.”

“The Flight after the Fall” is available to pre-order at THIS LOCATION!

Tracklist

  1. Enter the Loop
  2. Madness and Ritual Solitude
  3. The Obsidian Forge
  4. Icarus Equation
5 .Everlasting in Retrograde Pt. I & II

WITCH RIPPER have created a loving pastiche of the legendary pulp science fiction stories of old. The story told on their sophomore full-length “The Flight after the Fall” has all those tasty ingredients: a mad professor, his dying wife, cryogenic chambers, a black hole as well as themes of love, failure, loss, and acceptance.

Musically, WITCH RIPPER have packed “The Flight after the Fall” with as much aggression and barely tamed electricity as anybody knowing them would expect, but there are also fleetly intricate guitar interplay touches of subtle synth, and cosmic atmospherics as well as unshakably catchy clean vocal hooks. In short, WITCH RIPPER maintain their brutal roots while embracing the arena rock bombast of QUEEN and DAVID BOWIE, the exuberant modern prog of COHEED AND CAMBRIA, and MUSE.

Born and raised in the city of grey skies and loud music, Seattle in 2012, Washington’s WITCH RIPPER have seamlessly welded together the contemporary heaviness of such hard-hitting acts as MASTODON, GOJIRA, and BARONESS with the anthemic quality of classic rock artists.

With a self-titled EP “Witch Ripper” (2012) and the debut full-length “Homestead” (2018), WITCH RIPPER garnered both critical acclaim and a strong buzz in the underground metal scene. WITCH RIPPER have performed alongside heavy rock outfits such as MONOLORD, CONAN, and RUBY THE HATCHET as well as modern metal acts including SLIPKNOT, GOJIRA, and KHEMMIS among many others.

WITCH RIPPER approach their music in true American fashion: big riffs, bigger hooks, and damn, that drummer! With “The Flight after the Fall”, available as translucent sea blue vinyl and as Digisleeve CD on March 3, 2023 through Magnetic Eye Records, this heavy Seattle outfit re-emerge boldly into the guitar-driven US metal scene.

WITCH RIPPER is:
Chad Fox – guitar, vocals
Brian Kim – bass, vocals
Curtis Parker – guitar, vocals
Joe Eck – drums

EMPIIRES, the four piece modern rock band based out of Dallas, Texas released their single “Invincible” back in September 2022. They have been  heard on radio stations across the world.

Today, they would like to take this time to thank and share the Anime Music Video that was created by TC, founding member of Crim Radio.

Crim Radio, short for CRIM’inal started as a way to break from the corporate controlled music industry and to help shine a light on the independent bands trying to get noticed.  Over 8 years later it is still going strong broadcasting these bands around the world as on CRIM’inals would have it.

The love of Anime and of Anime Music Videos (AMV) sparked an idea of making AMV’s for these independent bands opening up a new demographic area for them.  AMV’s are loved and enjoyed by many younger people and by using the power of attraction to Anime’s in hope to further shine the light on these bands.

Crim Radio is dedicated to the streaming of new artists and the sharing of their passion.  For more information visit: crimradio.rocks

NANOWAR OF STEEL Announce New Album “Dislike To False Metal”

Masters of parody-infused heavy metal NANOWAR OF STEEL are thrilled to announce their fifth studio album, Dislike To False Metal, out March 10, 2023 via Napalm Records. Gathering their genius minds for the next chapter, the level of their comedic delivery has risen to its very best. With featured guests like Sabaton singer Joakim Brodén, the band puts the multi-faceted and much too often self-important universe of modern heavy metal to the test with this collection of ten entirely brand new tracks.

Sing and laugh along to the band’s brand new single, “Winterstorm in the Night” – a powerful, mighty anthem exploring the flaky depths of dandruff and scalp hygiene – featuring vocals from Madeleine Liljestam of dark symphonic metal band Eleine. NANOWAR OF STEEL continue to showcase their quick-witted lyrical ingenuity and amazing musicality with dance-worthy melodies, and have once again crafted a video of the highest quality to go along with the new single.

NANOWAR OF STEEL on “Winterstorm in the Night”:
“After dealing with the number one problem of metalheads in the recent single “Armpits Of Immortals”, we continue the metal & personal hygiene saga with a brand new track dealing with another headbangers’ nightmare: dandruff. Mr. Baffo was plagued by it until he found a solution, so we hope all of you pandoro-headed metallers out there will follow his advice on how to solve it!”

NANOWAR OF STEEL on the new album:
“Dislike to False Metal is our declaration of digital indignation to all that isn’t as metal as we would like it to be.
We’re getting old and slowly becoming metal boomers, roaring through the net disliking, unfollowing and unsubscribing all that is False Metal.
Though the album itself is full of non metal influences – like swing and Backstreet Boys – the backbone of our music is still made out of pure stainless steel!”

Gaining millions of views and streams with their famous hits “Norwegian Reggaeton” (ft. Charly Glamour & Gigatron), “Valhalleluja” (ft. Angus McFife) and the party song “Uranus” (ft. Michael Starr), NANOWAR OF STEEL are ready to prove their status as one of the genre’s most unconventional bands to watch. With their fifth studio album, Dislike To False Metal, the band arrives with a disturbingly addictive collection of entirely new tracks. Expertly exploring a mind-boggling amount of entirely different metal subgenres on 10 hilarious anthems, NANOWAR OF STEEL never cease to amaze with an equally-impressive dose of intelligently fresh comedic delivery that’ll have listeners rolling with laughter, and undeniable songwriting skill that’ll have their fellow genre-mates scheduling more practice sessions. Dislike To False Metal is beyond a comedy album – it’s a disconcertingly masterful showcase of above-the-bar musicianship, creative lyricism and boundless imagination.

NANOWAR OF STEEL raises the curtains of Dislike To False Metal atop the seven seas with “Sober”, marauding as the world’s first health-conscious, mineral-water chugging pirate metal collective on the hunt for Bitcoin treasure! “Disco Metal” pays homage to the club sound of the 90s with a metal techno rager for undead partygoers clamoring for a scary good time. Keyboard warriors around the world will unfollow NANOWAR OF STEEL after being triggered by “Metal Boomer Battalion”, but only after powering through maritime metal masterclass “Pasadena 1994“, as combat-ready Sabaton frontman Joakim Brodén tells the harrowing tale of one of the most heroic battles ever fought in the infamous summer of 1994… when Italy faced Brazil in the World Cup soccer final, of course! These soon to be earworms are just a taste of the tear-jerking hilarity to be found on the album, as NANOWAR OF STEEL’s dual mastery of comprehensive, eclectic performance styles and quick-witted, satirical concepts makes Dislike To False Metal a sonic metal meme worth posting about – and then some!
