Finnish Helsinki-based melodic death/thrash metallers DEAD SHAPE FIGURE are currently preparing the release of their upcoming album, which is the follow-up to the 2018 hit album Cacoëthes.
The 5-member ensemble presents their more melodic side with the song Antigone as a follow-up to the imposing opening single Shadowcast. The song represents the band’s more ambiguous, genre-free line, which makes Dead Shape Figure sound exactly like Dead Shape Figure, inimitable, intense, unhumbled and timeless.
Antigone is the most melodic extreme of the upcoming long play, but still makes it uncompromisingly heavy and full of energy. Lyrically the song is a tribute to endless mentors, combining the end-time feelings of Goethe’s Faust and the singer Galzi’s all-time favorite Mark Lanegan’s texts about the dividing lines of personal growth and decadence.
Antigone (5:38) Composed: Sahakangas, Ruuskanen, Flinck, Nummela Lyrics: Kallio
Dead Shape Figure is a melo-death/thrash metal band from Helsinki, Finland. The group entered the worldwide metal scene with their incredibly strong debut album, The Grand Karoshi, released in 2008 by the famed Season of Mist label.
Dead Shape Figure continued to pursue their own path, developing their unique, technical yet catchy take on death metal. Fast forward ten years to 2018, the band scored big on the single The Last of the Bearing Beats, from the album Cacoëthes. After releasing two EP:s independently (Quatuor Post Nihil, 2020, and Refinement of Hatred, 2021), DSF signed with Helsinki-based rising independent record label Rolling Records.
Antigone is the second fruit of the new collaboration with Rolling Records, and a clear indication that Dead Shape Figure is in the best shape of their career.

‘Low Resolution Man‘ is the latest offering from Sydney punk rockers SCABZ, out now via Riot Records, subsidy of the Golden Robot Global Entertainment Group.
From the second the drums come in you know this song is going to be the heaviest track SCABZ has given us so far, with big riffs and breakdowns becoming a part of the band unique sound.
True to form and abiding by their own playbook, SCABZ recorded ‘Low Resolution Man‘ live in an abandoned theatre. The track captures both the intensity and isolation of PTSD with fleeting moments of insanity. If this is anything to go by, SCABZ is not afraid to step out of their comfortable zone and will let it be known that the best is yet to come.
Say hello to SCABZ on their ‘Low Resolution Man‘ single tour! See the tour dates below. Free entry at all gigs except Bulli, check back for tickets HERE
ABOUT SCABZ
SCABZ have officially emerged from 2020 as the ‘shittest band in the world.’
After locking themselves into week of writing and recording at Defwolf Studios, the trio managed to release their debut album Pressure and audiences across the globe were suitably whelmed.
‘They’re like an Aldi Peep Temple, but I don’t hate it.’ – Facebook User
‘We are taking this matter very seriously; discrimination is not something we take lightly and we plan to use all available recourses to make sure that SCABZ stop spreading hate and misinformation.’ – The NSW Police Force
One of the most renowned bands of Brazilian metal, TORTURE SQUAD, released the live album ‘Tortura en La Iglesia En Vivo’, with the unreleased single “The Fallen Ones”, which is accompanied by an incredible and conceptual music video produced by Eric Luchini ( Tilt Filmes) premiered exclusively on the Decibel Magazine website. ‘Tortura en La Iglesia En Vivo’ is available on digital platforms and will get a physical version soon.
About the new single, TORTURE SQUAD comments: “The Fallen Ones is a science fiction song inspired by abduction stories from movies and series like The X-Files (1993) and Signs (2002). The sound of this new song is a powerful blend of elements from Thrash, Death Metal and Progressive Metal. The music video was produced by Eric Luchini, who has worked on major productions for companies such as Netflix, and features a suspenseful plot that stimulates the viewer’s imagination, questioning the truth behind these events”.
‘Tortura en La Iglesia En Vivo’ synthesizes the energy of the headbangers present on July 16, 2022, where the band performed in a sold-out night at La Iglesia, in São Paulo, one of the largest metropolises in the world, and the entire recorded show gave rise to the new live album.

Torture Squad is seen by extreme music fans as one of the most visceral and powerful metal bands in action today. With almost three decades of performance, with excellent live performances including in the most important metal festivals in the world, the Brazilian group gathered legions of fans playing all over the country, Latin America and Europe.
In 2019, while preparing the new album, Torture Squad arrived at one of the biggest music festivals in the world, the Brazilian Rock in Rio, where they performed for an audience of 120,000 people. In a cast filled with metal legends such as Anthrax, Slayer, Sepultura, Scorpions and Iron Maiden, the show was epic alongside Chuck Billy (Testament) and Brazilians Claustrofobia on the Sunset stage, with the set covering songs from their entire career. Torture Squad and Testament classics. After Rock in Rio, came the long-awaited tour of Central America, passing through Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. The highlight was the show at Mexico Metal Fest where Torture Squad was one of the headliners.
In 2020, they released a new single and video called “O Doctrinador”, inspired by a Brazilian comic book character that was also turned into a movie and TV series. The English version of the single and video called “The Awakener” is also available. In 2021 the band celebrated twenty years since the release of their third album “The Unholy Spell” (2001) playing the entire album in Lives and live shows.
In 2022 Torture Squad performs in Brazil alongside great bands like Exodus and Nervosa, and prepares to release the new studio album.
After 4 top 50 Active Rock singles with Candlelight Red, JEREMY EDGE launched The Jeremy Edge Project in 2020 Making a departure stylistically with more blues-based, guitar-based rock.
After extensive gigging in 2021 including dates with Lita Ford, Jackyl, Randy Hansen, Derek St Holmes and Gary Hoey, Edge and crew are back with their sophomore effort Saints and Souls, being released in two volumes. This record was more than a year in the making, recorded and mixed in different locations and is in the spirit of the classic rock and blues albums that first inspired Jeremy to play. The album contains artwork and lyrical imagery inspired by New Orleans and some of the stories and folklore surrounding it. It is named as a tip of the hat to the Haitian traditions of “All Saints Day” and “All Souls Day” as a means of celebrating life and those who have passed. There is a recurring theme of light and dark and a struggle to overcome adversity. Some are personal stories, some are about modern times, and some are based on fiction and folklore but all have this recurring theme.
The band is rounded out by John DeLowery on bass and Ray Gieda on drums with guest appearances by Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Black Country Communion) playing keys on “Move On” and “Hellride”, with select tracks mixed by Kevin “Caveman” Shirley (Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes, Joe Bonamassa, etc…).
