OAK Release Second Single ‘Quiet Rebellion’ from Upcoming Album

Karisma Records have released a second single from “The Quiet Rebellion of Compromise”, the upcoming third full-length album from Progressive Pop/Rockers OAK.

Titled  “Quiet Rebellion”, the single  can be downloaded or streamed from a number of services at
https://link.karismarecords.no/OAK_QuietRebellion

“The Quiet Rebellion of Compromise” is easily OAK’s  most dynamic album yet, and showcases the wide range of influences that have gone into developing the band’s sound.  With a sharper edge and some surprising  twists and turns, the album is still unmistakably OAK, with its members making ample use of their diverse backgrounds ranging from classical piano, to electronica, to prog and hard rock, thereby creating music that references both the  alternative scene as well as the progressive rock scene.

Recorded  in Ljugekroken and mixed at the Ghostward Studio by David Castillo (KATATONIA, LEPROUS OPETH, etc.) “The Quiet Rebellion of Compromise” was mastered by Tony Lindgren at the Fascination Street Studio.  Offering  subtle hints to both past and future songs in the OAK universe,  track listing is as follows:

1. Highest Tower, Deepest Well
2. Quiet Rebellion
3. Dreamless Sleep
4. Sunday 8 AM
5. Demagogue Communion
6. Paperwings
7. Guest of Honour

“The Quiet Rebellion of Compromise” is set for release on the 11th November in CD, Digital and Limited Edition white vinyl formats, and is now available to pre-order from the following:

“The Quiet Rebellion of Compromise” is an extraordinary album  in respect of its subject matter, because, in it, the band explores the subject of mental health, concentrating particularly on the aspect of suicide. Having chosen to write about two highly important, but very controversial subjects, and cognisant of the fact that music as an art form is very open to interpretation, OAK did not want to treat the matter in the  “sensationalist” way it is so often tackled.  Rather, wanting to make sure  that the message came across clearly and respectfully, they sought advice from experienced scholars.

Even the cover design by Remi Juliebø / Deformat for “The Quiet Rebellion of Compromise” is a very poignant reference to the concept, in that it is based on the death mask of “L’Inconnue de la Seine”,  an unknown drowning victim from 1880s Paris (photographed by Anne-Marie Forker), whilst the font is partially based on handwriting from two real suicide notes.

Starting out as a folk-rock duo, OAK’s lineup has expanded to include Simen Valldal Johannessen on vocals, piano and keys, Øystein Sootholtet on bass, acoustic and electric guitars, Sigbjørn Reiakvam on drums, percussion, programming, keys and guitars, and Stephan Hvinden on lead, rhythm and slide guitars.

OVTLIER‘s latest single “Living Dead” has reached #15 on Octane’s Big Uns chart!

“’Living Dead’ is the embodiment of everything telling, dark and fun. An animated and colorful song that sticks out from everything in our discography. A spoken word opening by the legendary Vincent Price sets the scene that dives into a riff-driving intro, leading to a heart pumping verse, a monster chorus that will have you singing along by the second go-around and a bridge that brings the heavy. ‘Living Dead’ is the beast that keeps on killing!” says Joey Arena.

He adds, “The music video for “Living Dead” captures the animation behind the lyrics. A dark, witty, campy horror-comedic short. Inspired by classics like Frankenstein, The Last Man On Earth and The Three Stooges ‘Dizzy Doctors’, ‘Living Dead’ is an over-the-top three minutes and sixteen seconds of pure ‘Hell Yeah’!”

Sleep Signals, have garnered a dedicated following through relentless touring, their explosive live performances, and their ability to blend catchy hooks with their high-energy songwriting style.

In 2021 the band released a new EP, Ethereal, featuring the single, “Fireproof,” which garnered the band’s first commercial radio success. The single was featured on Sirius XM’s Octane and received spins on 80+ US FM radio stations, spending 11 weeks on the Billboard Active Rock radio chart.

Unfortunately, 2021 also saw the band experience a severe bus accident on tour with POD, From Ashes To New, and All Good Things that left several members in the hospital and rehabbing injuries for months. The band released the music video for “The Return“ to commemorate their comeback from the accident and look to get back to the touring circuit as soon as late 2022.

Founded in 2014, the band hit the road in early 2015 and has since played over 500 shows in 45 states. Prior to the accident, the band was coming off of major full US tours with heavy hitters Hellyeah and Nonpoint, as well as Atreyu, Memphis May Fire, Ice Nine Kills, All That Remains, Attila, Escape the Fate, and Like A Storm.

“Sleep Signals embodies the same DIY hustling ethic that Ice Nine Kills has used since the beginning. Great songs, and a work ethic that is quickly making this band stand out” says Spencer Charnas of (Ice Nine Kills).

Alex Varkatzas (Ex-Atreyu) adds, “Seeing Sleep Signals’ tireless work ethic and energetic live shows nightly, it’s only a matter of time before this band is a household name.”

The moment you hear it, you know it’s NECRODEATH. Formed back in 1984, the Italian act is one of the real iconic black-thrash metal bands. With an ongoing career of almost 40 years, the band has helped to shape the Italian metal scene and the international underground as it is today. NECRODEATH released a cult-demo tape titled “The Shining Pentagram” and obtained an incredible success in the underground. Tons of tributes in major magazines, fanzines and other underground outlets highlighted the release of the first two legendary albums “Into The Macabre” (1987) and “Fragments Of Insanity” (1989). And today after many full-lengths, EPs and side projects the long voyage to hell is not over yet.
