Ahead of a run of UK live shows this December, SLYDER SMITH & THE OBLIVION KIDS have released a heart pounding cover version of the iconic 80s hit, ‘The NeverEnding Story’.

The song is accompanied by a new music video, with band performance filmed by Wills Audio at the famous Buckley Tivoli theatre and transformed into a fun concept video with additional footage & editing by producer Darren Stockford paying homage to the bombastic 80’s era.

Without a shred of tiresome irony, Slyder Smith and the Oblivion Kids boldly reimagine Giorgio Morodor’s 80s cult classic. Whilst staying true to the original, the power trio bring a dynamic commercial rock feel to Limahls’s electronic pop hit with guest vocals from Nina Courson of Healthy Junkies. With their debut album, ‘Charm Offensive’, released to critical acclaim from press, media and music fans alike earlier this year, ‘The NeverEnding Story’ is another thrilling chapter for Slyder Smith & The Oblivion Kids.

GREEN KING Release Final Single ‘Steel on Ice’ from Debut Studio Album

Finnish heavy metal outfit GREEN KING share the third and final single from their upcoming debut album “Hidden Beyond Time”. “Steel on Ice” is inspired by the immortal metal era of the ’70/80s, and features galloping riffs, melodic dual- guitar arrangements and fierce vocals. The single is released on The Sign Records today, the 25th of November.

Green King on “Steel on Ice”:
Steel On Ice is one of the first songs that shaped Green King’s music into what it is now – up-front guitar harmonies and riffs that make your fingers wiggle. The song tells a story about love towards ice, warrior’s urge to destroy one’s enemies, war and love at the gates of hell. Behind all this is Sega Megadrive, NHL97 and many hazy nights spent at our practice place’s dirty couch.

DOCKER’S GUILD Release ‘K475 W.A.M.’ Single + Video

Today DOCKER’S GUILD release their sixth video and fourth single from the new album “The Mystic Technocracy – Season 2: The Age of Entropy”. K475 W.A.M. is a reworking of Mozart’s Fantasy n. 4 in C. The video gives the opportunity for a rare glimpse of the core band hard at work in the studio and features Joel Hoekstra on lead guitar.

SLEGEST Reveal New Single + Video ‘Innsikt’

Having recently announced the much-anticipated new album from SLEGEST, Dark Essence Records have revealed a first glimpse into the kind of no-nonsense Heavy Rock that fans have come to expect from the band, and that which, on their latest full-length “Avstand”, is there in spades.
 
The first dip into the album comes, in fact, in the form of both a single, and a video for the opening track “Innsikt”, which is a heavy, huge, straight forward, and frankly unstoppable piece that was written during the winter of 2021 in the midst of the sublime wilderness of Western Norway. As the band explains:

The universal truths that life and the world is built upon, can best be discovered and described via the language of fine arts, not via the rational language of science and mathematics nor the Christian perspective for that matter. “Innsikt” means insight. This one is for following the natural, untamed and instinctive life force, and for not suppressing it. Play loud!

Inspired by Nietzsche’s The Birth of Tragedy, “Avstand”, the band’s fourth full-length album, is unmistakably SLEGEST doing what SLEGEST does best, but this time they have upped the tempo a bit, giving a freshness and originality to their hard-hitting heavy metal sound which is imbued with Black Metal and classic 70’s and 80’s heavy rock.

SLEGEST was originally formed by Ese back in 2010 as a solo project and didn’t become a full recording and live band until 2013. Today’s lineup comprises Ese on guitar and vocals, Sør on guitars, Hövard on bass, and the newly announced drummer Chris, who had previous experience playing live with the band, and whose arrival meant that “Avstand” would be the first album on which Ese did not play drums himself.

With the band raring to go and bring its latest work to a live audience, a first series of dates has been announced which will see SLEGEST and KAMPFAR in the new year in.

Finnish progressive rock/metal band VARJO-ORKESTERI released a first single Suunnistaja from their upcoming second studio album which is set to be released on January 20th 2023 via Inverse Records. 

The Band comments the video and album:
““Suunnistaja” is the first single release from the upcoming Varjo-Orkesteri´s album “Seremonia”. The opening track of the album describes pretty well the musical and lyrical line of the album. 

“Suunnistaja” is a medium-tempo and melodic echo and a warm glow in the landscape of progressive rock. It´s catchy, but still weird enough to be different and feel new. When the compass needle spins like crazy deep in the dark wilderness, you can surrender to the spirits of the forest and the creatures of the underworld. Maybe you’ll get lost even more, or maybe you’ll find your roots!”

Varjo-Orkesteri is a Finnish speaking quartet, flavored by rock, prog and grunge. The band is a strong collective of the familiar “Karhula scene”, a malleable and transformable product. The band has already reached the threshold of another long play during its rather short history. The debut album “Prima Volta” appeared in the beginning of 2022, when the new, nobler than the previous album “Seremonia” was gathering its strength.

The new album was built quite effortlessly, and the 11-song “Seremonia” is a piece of consistent quality from start to finish and perfectly describes the style of the Varjo-Orkesteri. Lyrically, the band leads the listener from the viewpoints of nature, the afterlife and eastern philosophy to man himself, to the vanishing understanding of being part of the universe.

The members of Varjo-Orkesteri are familiar to many who follow metal and rock, or at least to the rockers in Southeast of Finland. Background from the members can be found in bands like Omnium Gatherum, Total Devastation, Manitou, Kaihoro, Return To Void, Demonic Death Judge, etc.

Long-running South American metallers CULTURA TRES are back with a bang!
 
Finally, the brothers Alejandro and Juanma Montoya break the silence announcing the new album “Camino De Brujos” due for release on April 7th 2023 via Universal Music in the Americas and Bloodblast in the rest of the world.

Today there is only good news from CULTURA TRES’ camp! Getting a second wind, the band is more than happy to welcome none other than SEPULTURA’s bass player Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. in their ranks.
 
“Something we’ve learnt while listening to Andy Wallace’s albums (he is God in our little world) is that if you can’t imagine the band performing while you listen to a recording then you are just listening to a computer. And we are not interested in letting fans hear a computer… We’d rather invite them to hear 4 people playing their hearts out on a record. This record”, comments the frontman Alejandro Londono Montoya.

“In 2019 after hearing about the plans for a new Cultura Tres, I offered Ale and Juanma to join the band. The music is very organic. There are a lot of influence from the 90’s and a little bit of hardcore as well. Personally [In this album], I got inspired by the bass players who I’ loved the most back in the 70’s”, enthuses Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr.

To celebrate their comeback CULTURA TRES unveil the first single taken from the upcoming full-length. Sounding like a train on fire – filled with ammunition – heading towards you, “The World and Its Lies” is the opener of the album and is about making an “easy to follow” statement about most of the things this world has to offer… only to the privileged people.

In the studio the band explored new ideas and found a musical common ground. The resulting style retained elements of the psychedelic-sludgy past, but incorporated the groove of a more metal oriented vibe that Paulo brought in with his SEPULTURA influence.
 
So, how should South American heavy music sound like nowadays? The answer is easy – just listen to “Camino De Brujos”, an album which explores both new and old musical textures. The power of thrash metal meets the eeriness of sludge and the melancholic feel of classic rock.

“The album title ‘Camino de Brujos’ can be roughly translated as ‘Trail of Witches’. Do you remember the little story about letting your subconscious make artistic choices? Well this is one of the best examples, ‘Camino de Brujos’ is the main line sang on top of a nasty slow riff, the song is filled with tribal ritual percussion, typical from south America’s black magic practices. The phrase didn’t only end up being the only lyrics sang on the song but it also gave the name and identity to the album”, explains Alejandro Londono Montoya.
