GAUPA Release Lyric Video for New Single ‘Moloken’

Today, unique Swedish rock band GAUPA are pleased to share with you the third single from their forthcoming album, Myriad, which will be released on November 18, 2022 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Hauntingly atmospheric tune ‘Moloken‘ emerges disguised as an innocent ballad, before it  ultimately reveals its dark, heavy core. This is GAUPA at their most introverted, striking in their unpredictability, yet they always find the right moment to let loose and simply let the guitars do the talking.

The song comes with a lyric video, which you can watch below.

GAUPA‘s sophomore album Myriad features eight diverse and exquisitely crafted songs that keep strolling around between progressive rock, psychedelic & stoner rock, doom and folk. An eclectic and unpredictable, yet very mature record by a band that is destined to win over any open-minded music enthusiast from each branch the heavy rock spectrum has to offer.

Emma Näslund (Vocals) comments:
“Moloken is a Swedish word that according to Google translate means “the moloch”. Whether this is true, I can’t tell you.  It comes down to the concept of Swedish melancholy – to be downcast and to feel small.
This is a highly Swedish thing and I would say it peaks in November when the fire leafs have fallen and the trees are naked patiently awaiting their winter coat of frost and snow.
This is when you really start to feel the darkness. It seeps into every inch of your being.
I think this feeling is captured in this song, which is not really a happy go lucky tune.
Whether it comes from you, the world, a strung out relationship or just the weather isn’t really important. There is just this feeling.
But as soon as the snow sets, the sky lightens and another wave of hope enters.”

ABOUT GAUPA:

With surreal lyrics, an energetic, very unique singer, and an addictive sound that combines progressive stoner rock with doom, folk and psychedelic rock influences, GAUPA released their self-titled debut EP in June 2018 and have since made a name for themselves in the international underground rock scene. The GAUPA EP was well received and led to the band playing one of their first live performances at Scandinavia’s biggest rock festival, Sweden Rock. GAUPA thengot a chance to release the EP on vinyl via German label Kozmik Artifactz in October 2019 and went on to playing a solid number of shows and festivals. Critics were impressed, not only by the studio recordings and their diverse & complex arrangements, but also by the level of intensity the band displayed live.

In April 2020 GAUPA, which means “lynx” in Swedish dialect, followed up their debut EP by releasing their first full length album, Feberdröm, gaining even more attention from both, an international audience as well as the world’s biggest metal label: NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS.

Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R at Nuclear Blast Records Europe stated: ““While most newcomer bands struggled during the Corona pandemic, GAUPA managed to grow in quality. Their unique sound hasn’t remained unnoticed and word of mouth spread fast. Once we had seen their live stream show and had some video conferences, we knew they would sit well in an artist roster that contains some of their favourite bands, even if GAUPA isn’t very metal at all. But it’s that attitude to tear down boundaries between genres – just for the sake of art. We are proud to welcome them in good company.”

In 2021, GAUPA re-entered the studio to record their second full-length album Myriad, which will be released on November 18, 2022. GAUPA have currently been focussing on the Swedish festival Summer of 2022, but they are already working with great excitement on tours that will bring them to new stages all over the world.

In August 2021, Avant Garde collective THY CATAFALQUE took the stage for the very first time during the Fekete Zaj festival in Hungary. Mastermind and humble genius Tamás Kátai rallied 26 eclectic musicians to lend their talents toward performing 15 songs from Thy Catafalque’s expansive discography. This unique and mind-blowing performance was captured on film and will be available to the world via Blu-Ray on November 25, 2022 via Season of Mist!

The band is now sharing the live clip for the song, “Mezolit,” which can be seen HERE.

In addition to the Blu-ray, the live show will also be available on an exclusive media book and vinyl in various colours. Pre-orders are now live HERE.

Kátai comments: “Last August, a unique and magical event took place at Fekete Zaj Festival. 26 musicians performed 15 Thy Catafalque songs in front of a sold out festival and sparked the live carnation of the project that had been a mere studio entity for 23 years. The concert has been recorded and will be released in November. Re-live the night – this will never happen again in such form.”

The cover artwork for ‘Mezolit – Live at Fekete Zaj’ was created by Tamás Kátai himself and can be viewed together with the Blu-ray details below.

Track-list:
1. Esőlámpás (4:18)

The very first live show of THY CATAFALQUE was recorded in August 2021, during the Fekete Zaj festival in Hungary. 26 Musicians performed 15 songs from Thy Catafalque’s discography which is now captured on this unique Blu-ray ‘Mezolit – Live at Fekete Zaj’!

THY CATAFALQUE’s humble genius Tamás Kátai abandons any and all prenotions of tradition. Intertwining elements from a vast swath of unrelated genres, from jazz to pop to folk, and everything in between, THY CATAFALQUE masterfully crafts an eclectic sound that breaks down any generic barriers or borders. Following the massive success of 2020’s critically-acclaimed ‘Naiv,’ the entity returns with ‘Vadak,’ another esoteric monument in its already storied catalog.

Meaning “Wildlings” in Hungarian, the album title is a deliberate clue to the exotic and feral essence of ‘Vadak.’ Like seedlings scattered throughout the forest by the mere forces of nature, THY CATAFALQUE’s imaginative sound grows with an organic sense of whimsy, cultivated within the vast influences of our megacosm. Thematically, ‘Vadak’ is a foreboding lesson in mortality. Emphasizing the fragility that is shared by man and beast alike, the record explores our Freudian life instincts, in which we inherently fear and run from the ultimate goal of existence: death.

Originally, THY CATAFALQUE emerged as a black metal band founded by singer/keyboard player Tamás Kátai with the aid of guitarist/bassist János Juhász. Following their joined debut ‘Sublunary Tragedies’ (1999), the Hungarians evolved into quite different directions, but steadily gaining more followers in the process through the following albums, ‘Microcosmos’ (2001) and the self-released ‘Tűnő idő tárlat’ (2004).

On their fourth full-length, ‘Róka hasa Rádió’ (2009), THY CATAFALQUE invited Ágnes Tóth from neo-folk outfit THE MOON AND THE NIGHTSPIRIT and Attila Bakos to add their haunting vocals. With fifth album ‘Rengeteg’ (2011), Tamás Kátai finally went solo with the help of guest musicians that again included Ágnes Tóth an Attila Bakos. Dubbing his eclectic musical amalgamation avant-garde metal, the Hungarian explored new sonic possibilities with ‘Sgùrr’ (2015). The sixth full-length turned out to be slightly more complex than its successor, ‘Meta’ (2016), which returned to a more direct approach without losing the steadily growing sonic diversity. In 2018, THY CATAFALQUE continued this path with the release of ‘Geometria’. THY CATAFALQUE delivered another spectacular musical mosaic with their ninth full-length entitled ‘Naiv’, inspired by the “Naïve Art” movement.

At its core, latest release ‘Vadak’ (2021) expresses the familiar hallmarks that are unique to only THY CATAFALQUE, and yet, it is an unpredictable magnum opus, showcasing the latest evolution from Kátai and his esteemed co-conspirators. The album puts forth an elegance that cannot be matched or rivaled by any musical contemporary, taking fans on an adventure that is rife with excitement, drama, and unbridled craftsmanship.

SPIRAL FRACTURE Sign Worldwide Deal with EMG

Extreme Management Group (EMG), home to bands like Suffocation, Cattle Decapitation, Rings of Saturn, and more, has announced their partnership with Richmond, VA rock/metal act SPIRAL FRACTURE.

Out of the darkness and ever expanding genres of music comes the standard of all that is to come. Spiral Fracture reaches into the musical past and modern tonalities by injecting hard hitting drums, intertwining melodies with soul jarring bass hits. The foundation is then elevated with an alto vocal range that solidifies the band to a progressive metal standard.

Based on the fibonacci spiral formula that is reoccurring in nature, the band exploits the human element of disarray that fractures and goes against the grand design. Spiral Fracture pulls influences from Prog, Rock, Death, Black, and power metal. The band fuses raw primal emotion with cold, calculated tactile infrastructure that blurs the genre lines and shapes the melodic, integral spiral that is Spiral Fracture. The name and the music are designed to pull you away from the norm and bring the listener in and experience a new way of understanding the world around us. Our fractured society is blind to each other’s point of view and our music and lyrics are meant to connect us in a way that can unite our fractured society.

Their self-titled release has an array of songs that truly highlight each member’s talents and again reinvents the order of music as a whole. Doug Nunnally with ‘The Auricular’, an online publication, describes Spiral Fracture’s video and music. “The video, directed by Brendan McGlathery, showcases the band in their pummeling, virtuosic glory while also portraying the inner duality of the lyrics. Between a rotating live view of the band’s performance, we see singer Javier Ramos wrestle with haunting visions before tackling them head-on in the climax.”

Lead and rhythm guitar player, David Givens, gives the listener an array  of  melodic and atmospheric riffs that are truly unique. His music education in his early life defined his expansive language of theory. This allows him to explore the difficult progressive riffs that so enchants the audience with.

Brian Fisher who has taken up the mantle of playing drums has a long and extensive career in Richmond, Virginia. His style is unmistakable and cannot be found until you start looking at legends in the field. He is known for his very particular way of playing drums. He is known for flipping his drums in the opposite direction which allows the audience to truly feel and hear a clearer sound.

Bass guitarists are so often overlooked but there is no way to avoid the style that Brian Tanner brings to the table. His approach lends a highly dynamic feel that Fisher’s drum playing captures and enhances the bass sound.  We hear plenty of dynamic movement within the lines that he lays down with complex rhythmic hits that just blow your mind.

Spiral Fracture’s long tradition of prog metal has been solidified  and now has added a rock feel with the addition of lead vocalist, Javier Ramos. His vocal range tends to soften those sharp sounds that he eloquently maneuvers over. As a classically trained jazz musician he can find his way in and out of any cadence the music can offer. We can hear a new vocal approach from him that gives the band a unique sound. The rock vocal aspect redefines what is possible for metal bands as a whole bringing back long standing traditions of writing that seemed to fade away into heavy screaming genres of metal. Directly singing to an audience delivers a more subtle approach and removes deep anger and aggression that metal genres tend to deliver.

The band’s sound is commanding with thunderous landscapes, inspired bass lines added with elevated vocals. There is nothing better than seeing the band live to really see the light within the darkness and the aura of positive energy. They strive to capture the audience and bring them in close to what is already a close knit family. The family has now been added to Extreme Management Group’s artist roster, and the band is excited to see what the future holds in store.

Our fractured society (our fractured children) is what Spiral Fracture wants to amend. We want to leave our listeners with a new sense of purpose and that our music will give one listener at a time a redefined look at our world that so desperately seeks guidance. Our mission is to unite the masses with music by blurring genres and leaving the listener with a sense of a completed journey. “Music is moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” – Plato

Now the band has signed with Extreme Management Group, and had the following to say about the partnering, “Spiral Fracture is excited about our partnership with Extreme Management Group and the potential for growth in our partnership”. EMG said, “Spiral Fracture has done a great job launching the band. We intend to make that hard work count.” Anticipate big things to come from Spiral Fracture and Extreme Management Group.

INGESTED Share ‘From Hollow Words’ Video Feat. Sven De Caluwé of Aborted

INGESTED will release their new album Ashes Lie Still on November 4 via Metal Blade. Pre-order it here: metalblade.com/ingested

Today, the band has shared the video for “From Hollow Words.” Watch it here:

“You ever know one of those pricks that constantly say they’ll do things differently, or say they’re sorry for fucking you about, but then they always just do the same things over and over again? Well, our new single is about those types of arseholes,” says vocalist Jason Evans. “Allow us to present to you ‘From Hollow Words,” featuring our good friend Sven de Caluwé of death metal monsters Aborted. We’ve wanted to work with Sven for a very long time and we couldn’t be happier to show you the result of Ingested and Aborted smashing heads!“

He continues, “This beast of a song is no-nonsense, heavy, aggressive, and is exactly what fans of both bands want to hear! The fast-paced, back and forth, call-and-response style delivery between myself and Sven keeps the energy up to max from start to finish and the blend of our styles compliment each other ferociously.“

Regarding the visual, he states, “As always, Loki Films provides the visuals and has done a fantastic job. So what are you waiting for? Stream the song, watch the video, and blast it until your neighbors are banging on your front door!“

Sven de Caluwé weighed in, saying, “Beyond stoked to have taken part in the new Ingested record, I’ve known the guys for years now and we have toured together a few times; they’re a machine that just hits like a wrecking ball – not the pop type of ‘Wrecking Ball,’ mind you. This new record will turn many heads, I’m sure, and is their heaviest-sounding to date. Check it out and remember what Jack Burton always says: It’s all in the slams.“

Ingested are the flagbearers of modern UK death metal. They have been churning out bilious anti-anthems for more than a decade-and-a-half, dropping a string of releases that have helped shape the genre. They return with Ashes Lie Still, their most dynamic, inventive, and daring release to date, holding nothing back. The band describes it as “a modern essential. It still has the core Ingested elements of groovy slamming riffs, quick drumming, and guttural vocals but there’s also atmosphere, ethereal moments, and some raw old school aggression.“

Over the course of 10 tracks, Ingested hack, slash, and steamroll through everything in their path, and Ashes Lie Still easily stands as the highpoint of an already impressive career.

Founded in 2006 in Manchester, England, Ingested have since toured extensively with Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Nile, Carnifex, and Revocation, and have been seen on European festival stages including Summer Breeze Open Air. Slimmed down to a three-piece, the band feels it is in the best place it ever has been, enabling the members to work at the top of their game.

Ashes Lie Still was mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson. It was co-produced by the band and previous collaborator Nico Beninato, with drummer Lyn Jeffs living close to Beninato’s studio in Mallorca and recording his drums there, while Sean Hynes recorded his guitars at home in the UK with the producer assisting remotely. Vocal tracking was interrupted by Jason Evans falling seriously ill when finally making it to Mallorca and was ultimately tracked back in Manchester. Bass was again supplied by Dominic Grimard (Ion Dissonance/The Last Felony).

Ingested succinctly encapsulate their existence, saying, “We’ve always been the underdogs, always fighting for scraps. Well it’s time to get out of the fucking way, because now it’s our turn to eat at the table.“

You’ve. Been. Warned.

STU BLOCK & PERCIVAL SCHUTTENBACH Unite with OSYRON in New Music Video ‘The Deafening’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 5, 2022
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: OSYRON. Leave a comment

Today, coming directly off the heels of their YYC Award win for Metal Recording Of The Year (Kingsbane Deluxe Edition), Calgary’s own OSYRON deliver a serious punch to the gut with their new music video for The Deafening. Complete with an epic vocal battle between Stu Block (Annihilator, Into Eternity) and vocalist Reed Alton, stunning camera work and a monstrous track featuring Polish band Percival Schuttenbach (The Witcher), the music video is out today. Watch it HERE:

It was directed and edited by Seth Williams of Flip City Films and filmed at Rocky Mountain Film Studios in Calgary, Alberta. The smack you silly metal behemoth is off of the group’s upcoming album, Momentous, out November 4th. The single is also available on digital services providers now: Pre-order the album HERE!

“Seth did an amazing job of capturing the theme of the song visually. The camera work enhances the volatile and hostile nature of what is happening lyrically. We are beyond stoked on how the video turned out. Special thanks to Stu for making the trip out to Calgary to work with us on this”, explains the band.

Coming at you with intricate layers, The Deafening begins eerie and medieval, almost as if it were the soundtrack to Uhtred of Bebbanburg laying siege to Mercia. This section was masterfully recorded by Percival Schuttenbach, who wrote music for The Witcher games. Once the intro lifts, the full band kicks in loud and heavy, bringing the viewer on a journey. An epic battle ensues reminiscent of Geralt of Rivia battling The Striga in season one of the Netflix series. This represents the tug and pull of one’s own consciousness. Once the chorus hits with awesome and dynamic technical work, the video progresses into chaos channelling the power and ferocity of Yennefer of Vengerberg.

Earlier this year Osyron released the first two singles from the album, Beyond The Sun and Dominion Day. The singles saw an incredible response among their fans and the industry alike, bringing their social media following up by over 1,500 in only a few weeks. And: The tracks were added to Spotify’s All New Metal, Exclaim Magazine’s Eh List, idobi Howl, Stingray and received coverage from some of the top media and music publications worldwide such as Bravewords, Metal Rules, Metal Universe, El Cuartel Del Metal, Radio Futuro, The Rock Pit, Heavy Mag, Metal Shock, Metal Heads Forever, The Tinnitist, Heavy Mag, SevillaMetal and more! This is no surprise as Osyron have quickly made a name for themselves and their impressive musical talent.

About Momentous
Mastered by Maor Appelbaum at Maor Appelbaum Mastering (Faith No More, Dream Theater, Voivod, Armored Saint), the album is nothing short of a musical masterpiece. It boasts the group’s technical prowess, fantastical storytelling and outstanding vocal performances that metal fans everywhere have come to know and love from Osyron. Sure to leave listeners in awe, it deals with the many emotions, trials, personal battles, losses and victories that humanity faced during the pandemic. The biggest struggle faced by the band during this time was the struggle of looking inwards at themselves. Many had to relearn to love one another, and even turned against each other. A truly momentous moment in their career, not only for them as people, but for everyone. The album was mixed by Tyler Corbett at Sole Audio (bassist) and the drums were recorded by Josh Rob Gwilliam at OCL Studios in Chestermere, Alberta. All other instruments were recorded by Cody Anstey (drums) at his studio CRM Sound.

Metal outfit KILL RITUAL have issued the second single from their upcoming album “Kill Star Black Mark Dead Hand Pierced Heart”. The single is called “By The Hand Of God”, and is accompanied by a video, watch below.

Listen to the song at https://bfan.link/bythehandofgod-single

KILL RITUAL about the song:

“This song is about the Crusades and how one man – believing he was fighting for god and glory against an evil force and heathen – realizes that the coin is the same on the other side, and those he opposes are just the same as he is in their delusion how they’re both are being manipulated for the gain and power of others. This obviously can be applied to anything from politics, to working for a supposed just ’cause to just being part of a machine and being controlled. In the end you only have one life and die alone.”
