UNDEATH Announce 2023 Headline UK Tour

Following the release of their critically acclaimed sophomore album, It’s Time… To Rise From The Grave, in April of this year, UNDEATH have today announced a headline UK tour with support from UK death metal group Celestial Sanctuary. The Rochester, NY death metal band’s UK Invasion tour is set to take place from January 27 to February 2 and are UNDEATH’s first overseas tour dates, more details below.

Tickets for UNDEATH‘s UK Invasion tour are available now.
It’s Time… To Rise From The Grave is available to listen to and order here.

UNDEATH UK Invasion tour dates w/ Celestial Sanctuary
27 January – The Flying Duck – Glasgow, UK
28 January – Anarchy Brew Co – Newcastle, UK
29 January – The Star & Garter – Manchester, UK
30 January – Rock City – Nottingham, UK
31 January – The Crauford Arms – Milton Keynes, UK
1 February – The Joiners – Southampton, UK
2 February – The Black Heart – London, UK

Speaking on the tour announcement, Alexander Jones (vocals) comments: “We couldn’t possibly be more stoked for our first tour overseas. This has been a long time in the making and, if all goes according to plan, it will be the first of countless trips abroad for us. We’re proper chuffed to be taking the mad lads in Celestial Sanctuary out with us for every show too. Absolute geezers who make positively cracking death metal. Am I doing this right? Fuck it – get your arse to a show and slam a pint or two or fifteen with us. It’s gonna be brilliant.”

It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave, shows the reconfigured quintet—Kyle Beam (guitars), Alexander Jones, Tommy Wall (bass), Jared Welch (guitars) and Matt Browning (drums)—have retained their mind-infecting sonic savagery but weren’t satisfied in their pursuit to improve it through wicked (yet studied) reformulation. It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave isn’t just a contender for death metal album of 2022—it’s destined to be a modern-day classic.

UNDEATH traveled to Philadelphia to record It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave with Scoops Dardaris at Headroom Studios in March-April 2021. Dardaris rough-mixed on the fly during the recording sessions, and then required two more weeks after to finalize the mix. Not ones to sacrifice a working team, they brought on Arthur Rizk (Creeping Death, Enforced) to master.

In four years, UNDEATH have done the unlikely. They have two celebrated, oft-streamed demos, a coveted Decibel flexi disc, two brutish videos (Acidic Twilight Visions,Entranced by the Pendulum), completed a riotous 30-date American tour mid-pandemic with The Black Dahlia Murder, and released a fan-obsessed full-length in Lesions of a Different Kind. To stop now would be contrary to UNDEATH’s diehard, work-hardened ethos. Indeed, they’re forging ahead. It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave undoubtedly levels up UNDEATH. The New Yorkers are the vanguard of the next wave of hard-hearted American death metal. Join the undead army now…march or die completely!

SHAPE OF WATER Reveal ‘Starchild’ Music Video, New Album Out Now

British alternative art rock band SHAPE OF WATER have just revealed a new music video for the song “Starchild“. The video was directed by Luca De Falco. This is the third music video from their new full-length album Amor Fati which is also released worldwide today via Eclipse Records, and is now available everywhere.

“The song Starchild is inspired by determinism and simulation theory,” says vocalist Rox Capriotti. “It focuses upon free will as an unattainable goal while surrounded by an individual’s unalterable personality and society-dictated circumstances. We follow pre-established paths without even realizing it.” Guitarist Luca DeFalco continues, “We picked this song because it is the apex of our expression at this exact moment in time. The structure of the Starchild video identifies the nature of the band itself so… for us was important to make a video about it. The script for the video was different in the beginning but incessant rains in Manchester made it impossible to shoot at the locations we planned for, so we improvised and did something different. We decided to use CGI to implement the figures of a fetus to represent new life and the infinite circle, and the humanoid heads as instances of death. The initial idea for the ending part was to have a full band performance but we fell in love with the scene of Rox singing. The act is empathetic and the tears falling down his face were real. The wind on his face, the color grading, the acting, and everything else were so dramatic that we decided to keep it with no cuts.”

The new album by Shape Of Water is titled, Amor Fati, Latin for “Love of Fate,” alluding to Nietzsche and the philosophy of determinism which would imply that destiny is already written and we must embrace the meaninglessness of our free will. Furthermore, this aesthetic (and rocking) masterpiece delivers a poignant message about isolation as a swansong, speaking to the awesome potential of humankind as we ironically and tragically blend into one another. We wear masks of balance and hope, yet death makes us dust that slips away in the wind. We create powerful machines and build monuments of hope, but we lose ourselves in the process. Musically, the album is as diverse as it is sonically pleasing. Instead of guitar power chords used for punch and dynamics, Shape of Water employs tactical low-toned synths in a fashion similar to John Carpenter utilizing what he called “stingers,” lending impact and potency to the given Michael Meyers sighting. On the mid and high end, the band delivers various styles of expressive, elegant and dynamic keyboards: delicate and refined and soaring and bold. Guitars are used tastefully, so smoothly at times that one might mistake them for keyboards and visa-versa, and the vocals are what Salieri, in the film Amadeus, called an “absolute beauty.”

Video is recorded, directed and edited by Dion Douglas. Buy/stream ‘Out Of The Black’ single at https://ampl.ink/Oldootbsingle

Watch “Out Of The Black” video below.

and sing along:

The storm went on for far too long
It Took her 2 years to know it was wrong
The horror and the shame that she felt inside
It WAS time for HER to end this ride
Digging deep into her soul
He manipulated her with his heart of coal
The devil appears in many forms
He’s not always red with hooves and horns.
How did she forget what the light feels like
Been at war with herself
tears in her eyes
The hatred grew up inside me
It was so blurry I could hardly see
My broken girl on a path to hell
All locked up in an internal cell
Now It’s time to go on full attack
Away from the fire and out of the black!!

(Chorus)

Save me… save me
I took her by the hands
And let her follow me
Save me she cried save me
I’ll never let her down
She is my everything

(Verse)
With all guns blazing attack attack
This darkness wasn’t real
She needs to fight back
Against his anger and suffering
Coz he will never stop with an ego of a king
So, raise your hands if you what it’s like
To feel empty ashamed and wanting to die
Stop living life on your knees
Grab life by the core and don’t say please!!!!

How could she forget what the light feels like
Been at war with herself
With tears in her eyes
The hatred grew up inside me
Made it so blurry I could hardly see
My broken girl on a path to hell
All locked up in an internal cell
Now It’s time to go on full attack
Away from the fire and out of the black!!

(Chorus)

Alex, the vocalist, tells about the song and its story:
“Out of the black is a dark tale of abuse at the hands of the most unexpected perpetrators, your partners and loved ones.
Although its written lyrically man abusing woman, we know it happens in all kinds of settings, including women abusing men or just humans abusing humans.
I wrote this song lyrically a few years ago and I took the inspiration from 2 situations including one of a friend and all I wanted to do was save them, and a previous relationship of my own where I had a scenario where I was being attacked when my partner would drink a bottle of wine and wake up like nothing happened.
Fast forward to 2022, myself and the guys have now turned the song into it’s final form and I hope it’s enjoyed by all music listeners out there.”

Earlier the band shared on artwork:
“The artwork cover is a film still featuring our dear friend Yasmin Raggett who is the star of our video and really captures the essence of the story.”

In addition, ONE LAST DAY will be working on releasing more new music in the coming months.

JOE LYNN TURNER Release Official Music Video ‘Tortured Soul’, New Album Out Now

JOE LYNN TURNER and Music Theories Recordings / Mascot Label Group have released the new studio album BELLY OF THE BEAST.  Today, they present the official music video for “Tortured Soul” which can be viewed below.

Joe Lynn Turner shares, “Today, October 28, 2022, is a very exciting day for me. After hard work and a long waiting period, the album Belly Of The Beast is finally being released along with the main single and video “Tortured Soul.”  The song is one of my favorites. It’s an epic sounding track and the video has the depth and strong subject manner I am passionate about.”

He continues, “Throughout our life, we all encounter problems, difficulties and events that shape and define our lives. These events can have both positive and negative effects on our character and personality. The motivation for the song lyric was inspired by a war veteran friend of mine who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, commonly known as PTSD. I could have never known then how timely this subject matter would be with today’s current conflicts and problems that now threatens the whole world.  The synchronicity that the universe has envisioned for this composition to be relevant during this particular time is amazing, and it reminds me to always trust the energy and guidance from the source that is forever a part of our lives.”

He goes on to state, “As the video concept was being developed, I realized the importance of the broad spectrum of meaning the lyrical narrative contained.  What I mean is that it’s not just about PTSD, but about anyone who has struggled with emotional and psychological issues. No matter how, what type, or how serious the events that occurred.  This is about everyone and anyone who is dealing with mental and emotional damage.  The fear and helplessness one feels, the more likely they will be deeply traumatized. They may even feel the same way they felt at the exact time of the original trauma, as if they were reliving the event.  The mind can trigger a thread and cause a reaction of fear, panic or agitation. Feelings of detachment and confusion or becoming withdrawn, not wanting to connect with others is a common mechanism used to cope with the problem.

In summation, he states, “The individual in the song is lost, afraid and desperate, struggling with a near mental breakdown just trying to regain the basic feelings of humanity. All this is mirrored in the lyrics and messaging on ‘Tortured Soul.’  I hope you enjoy the song and video, and are interested in hearing the full album now that it is available. I’m always interested in your thoughts and opinions so please leave them in the comment section. Blessings to you all!”

The ”Tortured Soul” music video was directed by Agata Nigrovskaya. Prior two songs were presented, both with accompanying videos created by Wayne Joyner. The wildest times call for the freest of voices. After selling millions of records, playing to countless fans, and fronting some of the most influential rock bands in history, award-winning songwriter and vocal dynamo Joe Lynn Turner speaks his mind as loudly as possible on his eleventh full-length offering and Mascot Label Group debut, BELLY OF THE BEAST. Joining forces with iconic producer Peter Tägtgren [Hypocrisy, PAIN, Lindemann], the New Jersey-born powerhouse conjures up the kind of heavy metal that not only makes you throw your fist in the air, but also makes you think.

This chapter saw him make a crucial personal decision too. Diagnosed with alopecia at three-years-old, he began to wear a wig at 14-years-old, dealing with “emotional and psychological damage from cruel bullying in school.” So, he wore the hairpiece throughout his career until finally deciding to go without it.  “In a way, it’s a blessing and a curse,” he admits. “I have nothing to prove, and I can wear a wig—or not. I am free to do what I want. I’m a grown man, and I’m getting to be an older man. Many men in this business eventually come to the decision to continue to ‘’wear hair’’ or shave their head which is very fashionable today. Either way, it takes a lot of personal courage. Assholes in high school trying to kick me around made me stronger and gave me the necessary motivation and strength to rise above the rest. Anger and pain are a great tool. If applied correctly, it could develop you to become the best version of yourself. Instead of running away, I was ‘’hiding in plain sight”.

In the end, Joe has something to say at the pit of Belly Of The Beast.  “Rock’n’roll is about entertainment of course, but I hope you hear the message as well,” he leaves off. “It seems like everyone has sold their souls to major corporations. Once people are rich and popular, they become a part of the establishment. Where are the rebels? Who’s going to say, ‘Fuck you! We aren’t going to take this shit?’ I am.”
