Former W.A.S.P. Guitarist Chris Holmes Recalls Touring w/ Iron Maiden on Their Bus

Jimmy Kay from Canada’s The Metal Voice spoke to former W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes in Montreal, Canada as he was prepared for his upcoming Screening/Mini-Tour/Signing dates.

When asked about his lack of payments in his time in W.A.S.P.
“Honestly I would just like to get paid for what I created, that’s it.  I don’t want any more. I don’t want to take any more.  I created what I created and I don’t want any more than what I did. I’m not about stealing stuff. I just like want what came out of my heart which is on records that I created. There was a lot more stuff than I was credited for but that’s the way it is you know. I wouldn’t change it.  I would change a few things growing up but you can’t you can’t change the past, you can only change the future.”

When asked about the support from fellow artists when he has going though cancer treatment
“Blackie could have helped to pay for some of my treatment he didn’t but Nikki Sixx did. Nikki Sixx he gave me a lot of money, he was the first one he gave over 500 bucks. I love the guy for it thank you Nikki. I love him for that. Around the first month I was sick (Chris Holmes got  video messages) and on message went,  Chris this is your Metal God, Rob Halford and it was kind of cool Rob talked a little bit on there and then the Guitar player that took Tipton’s gig (Richie Faulkner) said nice words because Glenn’s sick and he’s got Parkinson’s Disease, that’s really sad. Tons of people um gave good wishes but nobody from W.A.S.P. did. It’s kind of weird but that’s ok but Glenn Hughes did we were good drinking buddies (in the past). “

When asked about speaking to Steve Grimmett the night before his passing
“He sang on a song that I had written called ‘Playing with fire’ which is written about Covid.  About three weeks ago Sarah my wife gives me the phone and it’s Steve, hey what’s up Steve, how are you getting along with the Covid blah blah blah because we played some shows together and we spoke. Within 10 hours after call we heard he was dead. Shocked shot the crap out of me big time. He had an exceptionally exceptionally voice.  Top-notch, unbelievable man, I wish I could sing a tenth what he does. Steve will be missed. It is sad he’s gone you know. Rest in peace Steve.”

When asked about what he thought about Iron Maiden as a band
“If somebody’s asked me who’s the favorite band I ever toured with? That would be Iron Maiden. Who was the nicest band, they were the coolest guys I’ve ever been around in the rock business. I traveled on their bus because of the same management. I went on Steve Harris’ bus with Bruce (Dickinson). Dave (Murray) and Adrian(Smith) had a bus themselves. Also Bruce flew a lot of times but I always was on their bus. And of course they had they loved me because I’m from Hollywood, California. When they’d say something they’d end the question with dude for some reason. My nickname with all the Maiden guys is chewie because one time we were I think we were at the Cat and Fiddle in Los Angeles and somebody said something about Star Wars and i went AHHHR (Like Chewie) and it’s just  stuck you know, so that’s all right that’s my nickname Chewie you know. Iron Maiden just some of the greatest guys you know in this business yeah the coolest guys that I’ve ever met.”

PEARL JAM Hosted 9/11 First Responders at Madison Square Garden on 21st Anniversary of Terrorist Attack

“9/11 was horrific, traumatic, despicable … but in some ways, 9/12 was awesome. 9/12 people came together as one. We were supported by the rest of the planet. And most importantly in our country, we supported each other. There was a time when we supported each other. That’s the part that we cannot forget. We can stay together. We don’t have to wait for another terrorist attack and suffer this thing of being divided.” – Eddie Vedder, sharing a conversation with First Responder Lt. Michael O’Connell, FDNY

On September 11th, at Madison Square Garden, PEARL JAM honored the first responders of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the 21st anniversary of the tragedy. Frontman Eddie Vedder talked about meeting with a group of first responders before the show and being reminded of the importance of September 12th as a day when everyone came together in solidarity.  He called out the incredible work of John Feal, a retired construction worker who lost part of his foot while working at Ground Zero in the aftermath of the attacks and founded the FealGood Foundation to benefit responders who have suffered from numerous health issues ever since.

That same solidarity is needed now to ensure that the heroes of September 11th continue to receive the treatment they need for the significant injuries and illnesses sustained on and stemming from that horrific day, many caused by the toxic dust generated by the collapse of the World Trade Center towers.

After 17 years of hard work from survivors and advocates, Congress finally responded to this crisis by creating the World Trade Center Health Program. Today, it encompasses more than 117,000 responders and survivors, most of whom are being treated for more than one illness. World Trade Center Health Program provides critical care but is facing an impending $3 billion budget shortfall.

Unless Congress acts by the end of the year, the program will be forced to stop accepting new members who are sick and to make additional cuts in services. The Bipartisan 9/11 Responder and Survivor Health Funding and Correction Act would ensure the program gets the funding to meet the medical needs of 9/11 responders and survivors.

For more information and to contact your elected officials, visit Renew911health.org. You can also join Vitalogy Foundation in supporting The FealGood Foundation to benefit 9/11 first responders.

“So let those events we got through together all those years ago and that these men and women are still courageously healing from – let those lessons be remembered as our solidarity to come together and keep this country straight … this country that we love.”  – Eddie Vedder

“Livin’ In Muddy Water” is a southern groover with singer TJ Lyle’s vocals yearning, “How can you walk through muddy water, and come out cleaner than before, how do we see through broken windows, is it the pane or something more.”

Talking about the song TJ Lyle says, “The lyrics were written from my own experiences. Everyone has their bad days and hardships. The Bolts want to get the message out to those who sometimes feel helpless and let them know there’s always someone there to talk to and they will never be alone.” Bassist Zach Everett adds, “Livin’ in Muddy Water’s driving rhythm makes you want to bob and weave on the highway at great speed.”

The young rockers will be touring Europe for the first time. The band have cut their teeth live with Blackberry Smoke, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, Molly Hatchet, The Cadillac Three and Deep Purple. They released their incredible debut album Can We Get A Witness in 2021 on Mascot Records which features the tracks “Looking For And Old Friend, “Lend A Hand”, and “So You Want To Change the World.”

Talking about the tour, the Thunderbolts guitarist Riley Couzzourt says, “We would like to send out a huge thank you to our friends and brothers, Black Stone Cherry, for this wonderful opportunity to tour mainland Europe. Many of you have been supporting the Bolts from afar, and we can’t wait to play for y’all and make new friends. Let’s rock Europe!”

The Georgia Thunderbolts are going to bring their Southern rock flavour to the historic streets of Europe and show how they party, Georgia style.
