Modern symphonic metal outfit AD INFINITUM will pay homage to their beginnings by releasing their spellbinding debut album, Chapter  I – Monarchy (2020), on 2LP gatefold black vinyl for the first time! Under the banner of Echoes of Monarchy, this collection will also feature the debut’s stunning acoustic versions, set to drop on October 7, 2022 via Napalm Records.

Evoking the sounds of their debut in 2020, followed by their second full-length in 2021, AD INFINITUM‘s success undoubtedly echoes throughout the scene, commencing their unstoppable ascent. Charging instrumentals, pounding drums, chunky riffs, mind-boggling solos and enchanting orchestrations build the band’s unique soundscapes as frontwoman Melissa Bonny’s soul-stirring cleans and haunting growls put her incredible vocal range on display – dropping jaws with each line. Effortlessly blending various genres without losing their true metal origins, AD INFINITUM proves their versatility while fanning the flames of their symphonic roots with Echoes of Monarchy.

Vocalist Melissa Bonny says:
“We are thrilled to release, for the very first time, our first album Chapter I – Monarchy and its acoustic version Chapter I Revisited on vinyl. This special edition represents a very particular debut year for the band, in the middle of a global pandemic. But nonetheless the support that we received and the metal family that joined our journey despite those circumstances made this experience a heartwarming one. Thank you!”

Vanilla Fudge was one of the first American groups to infuse psychedelia into a heavy rock sound to create “psychedelic symphonic rock” an eclectic genre which would, among its many off shoots, eventually morph into heavy metal.

Although, at first, the band did not record original material, they were best known for their dramatic heavy, slowed-down arrangements of contemporary pop songs which they developed into works of epic proportion.

Originally, Vanilla Fudge was a blue-eyed soul cover band called The Pigeons, formed in New Jersey in 1965 with organist, Mark Stein, bassist, Tim Bogert, drummer, Joey Brennan, and guitarist, vocalist and US Navy veteran, Vince Martell.

They built a following by gigging extensively up and down the East Coast, and earned extra money by providing freelance in-concert backing for hit-record girl groups. In early 1966, the group recorded a set of eight demos that were released several years later as While the World Was Eating Vanilla Fudge.

In 1969, while immersed in extensive touring, Atco released the expansive, symphonic-tinged record, Near the Beginning. Among the group’s many TV appearances on legendary shows were Dick Cavett, Merv Griffin Show, David Frost, Where The Action Is among others.

The group did a TV commercial for Braniff Air, and also recorded a radio commercial for Coca Cola with guitarist Jeff Beck, a fill-in for Vince who was unable to be there that day. This event gave rise to the eventual creation of a Cream-styled power trio featuring Beck, Bogert and Appice.

Exhausted by the constant touring, the Vanilla Fudge decided that their late 1969 European tour would be their last. Following the release of their final album, Rock & Roll, they played a few U.S. farewell dates and disbanded in early 1970.

Vanilla Fudge reunited in 1984 and recorded a new album, Mystery, which also had Jeff Beck as a guest artist.

In the summer of 2006, the original Vanilla Fudge reunited to tour with The Doors of the 21st Century; it culminated in a VH-1 special, “Decades of Rock.”

The group currently continues to tour in the USA. In August of 2007, they performed at Radio City Music Hall with Deep Purple another opening act for the Fudge in the sixties.

Critics praised the Vanilla Fudge’s performance that night as one of their greatest! On October 15, 2006, Vanilla Fudge were inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame by Felix Cavaliere for their contribution to music history.

They performed on Late Night TV Show with Jimmy Fallon NBC TV on March 28, 2011. The band just returned from The Moody Blues Cruise out of Miami, Florida with 16 other bands, a great time was had by all.

Vanilla Fudge celebrated their 50th year Anniversary in 2017 and are still rocking the world in the current day with one of their greatest hits ‘You Keep Me Hanging On‘ featured in the Quentin Tarantino movie ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.’

Polish GRIEF CIRCLE Announce Debut Album, Release Single ‘Cursed’

Polish doomers GRIEF CIRCLE drop a new single entitled ‘Cursed‘. It is an opening song from their upcoming debut release called ‘Weightless‘.

Stream ‘Cursed’ at bandcamp

‘Weightless’ is an excruciatingly emotional journey into the void, just to ultimately reach nothing, never, and nowhere. Quite contrary to the album’s title, this meaningless escapade abounds with tremendous sonic forces, mercilessly grasping the listener throughout the whole album, giving mere moments of rest. Band drifts between shattered bits of stoner doom and sludgy post-metal.

tracklist
1. Cursed – 6:05
2. Hangman – 9:22
3. Outward Spiral – 9:50
4. Hollow – 8:31
5. Weightless – 6:38
6. Four Words – 8:04
(total time – 48:30)

Recorded in June 2022 at HUGE Studio
Mixed and mastered by the notorious Haldor Grunberg (Satanic Audio)
Artwork by Cvspe: instagram.com/cvspe
street date: Oct 6th 2022

Hailing from southern Poland, the band features Filip Dąbrowski (bass), Jakub Hanusa (dr) (ex-members of post-metal group Forge of Clouds), Jonasz Plaskota (guit.) and Kvass (voc – Psychotropic Transcendental, Moanaa).

Swiss-Italian cinematic/progressive metal outfit VIRTUAL SYMMETRY present a video for “The Paradise Of Lies,” the third single from their eponymous fourth album, which sees release next week through Sensory Records.

VIRTUAL SYMMETRY was founded in 2009 as a solo project of guitarist Valerio Æsir Villa, when the first ideas for the debut album, Message From Eternity, began taking shape. The band’s lineup has since expanded to now include vocalist Marco Pastorino, keyboardist Marco “Mark” Bravi, bassist Alessandro Poppale, and drummer Alfonso Mocerino. Featuring members of Temperance and Fallen Sanctuary, the band is a revelation in the progressive metal universe, stunning their fans and listeners with influences which range from classical music to contemporary metal and a style characterized by epic suites, rich of cinematic elements and balance between melody and technique, leading the listeners through a dynamic and emotional journey in each track.

Between 2018 and 2020, VIRTUAL SYMMETRY composed and produced their third album, Exoverse, which was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in Bath, UK, and featured special guests including legendary drummer Thomas Lang, a return performance by Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess, saxophonist Ruben Paganelli, the symphonic orchestra Sinfonietta Consonus, and Evergrey’s Tom S. Englund. Some honorable mentions among their live shows are 2015’s debut live show with Evergrey and Dream Theater, 2017’s live show supporting Deep Purple’s keyboardist Don Airey.

Featuring eight immersive songs, Virtual Symmetry was recorded by the band then mixed and mastered at Domination Studio by Simone Mularoni (DGM, Michael Romeo, Turilli Lione Rhapsody) and completed with artwork and photography by Kyrhian Balmelli.

The video for “The Paradise Of Lies” was directed by Giampiero Zappa and features dancer Vera Santagata.

SHAKRA Premiere Music Video for New Single ‘The Way It Is’

Since there is a green light for concerts all over the world again, Swiss hard rock act SHAKRA also floods the social media with photos of huge open air stages all over Europe, in front of thousands of people. And yet it seems that the five-piece has skipped something compared to other bands – where is the new album, is there something happening?

Since the “grand opening“, the market has been literally overrun with new record releases, created during lockdown period, only SHAKRA seem to be once again taking different paths and immediately thrown themselves straight back into the live arena. But who is familiar with the band, knows that actually nothing ever happens by pure accident.

After SHAKRA released their new album “Mad World” shortly before the pandemic hit the earth, any live activities had to be cancelled again or partly postponed. Conscious of their duty, as the Swiss are, they immediatly started to get back into the ring and began to play shows, long awaited by their fanbase, and more powerful and intense than ever.

Just recently, the band released a brand new song, entitled “The Way It Is”, and a music video is now available! “I had this song idea that had been floating around in my head forever and it just had to come out,” says Thomas Muster, rhythm guitarist. “We thought the song was so awesome that we just had to record it!” adds Mark Fox, vocalist of SHAKRA. When asked if there is even a whole album in the making, the band keeps a low profile. It is what it is – “The Way It Is”.
