ROTTEN SOUND Drop Atomic New EP “Mass Extinction”, Out Now

While the state of the world falls further into disrepair, after three crust-ridden decades, Rotten Sound are still grinding. After outrunning the apocalypse on their last full-length, the Finnish vets are back with another devastating burst. Take cover, metalheads. Mass Extinction lays waste to societal plagues with take-no-prisoners grindcore.

“Mass Extinction is a nine-minute rail crash of an EP”, says No Clean Singing. “Rotten Sound have the art of frenetic annihilation down to a science and you want to be a witness to the next demonstration of them practicing what they know so well. Mass Extinction more than answers that call”.

“Rotten Sound is hands down one of the greatest grind bands ever”, writes Your Last Rites, “Mass Extinction is absolutely a great addition to their catalog”.

Mass Extinction was released on Friday, December 12, and you can hear all eight explosive tracks by listening to the full album stream on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.

Order the album at https://orcd.co/rottensoundmassextinction

With each release, Rotten Sound spew uncontrollable chaos, but there’s a method to their madness.

Since signing with Season of Mist in 2012, the band has followed each full-length barrage with a short but no less deafening statement. Like a mushroom cloud, Mass Extinction arose from the immediate aftermath of their previous album Apocalypse. All six off-the-rails tracks were laid down during the same recording sessions before getting mixed at Rain City Recorders and later mastered by Brad Boatright.

But Rotten Sound’s new EP is  no half-life mutation. Mass Extinction opener “Recycle” whirs and churns with the all-consuming power of a supply chain. “Napalm Death and Nasum have both done longer albums, but that’s their thing”, explains the band’s vocalist Keijo Niinimaa. “Our thing is we want to be straight to the point”.

Rotten Sound know how to get their point across, too. In just under 10 minutes, Mass Extinction chews through toxic consumerism, labor exploitation and other plagues on society. Lead single “Brave New World” pushes for unity over divisive politicking behind a barrage of blast beats supplied by drummer Sami Lava. While our leaders certainly need to clean up their act, there’s nothing stale about this band’s high-speed blend of classic D-beat punk and Swedish death metal. Even the slightly optimistic “Idealist” gives way to Mika Aalto’s downright hostile groove upon Niinimaa’s screaming command.

“Wake up!” With so much atomic force, it’s impossible not to heed Rotten Sound’s warning on Mass Extinction.

more dates coming soon…

The state of the world has only fallen further into disrepair, but after three crust-ridden decades, Rotten Sound are still grinding. Despite production slowing to a halt during the pandemic, the Finnish vets outran the coming apocalypse on their last album. Now, two years later, they’re back with another brief but no less devastating burst. Take cover, metalheads. Rotten Sound are laying waste to social plagues with Mass Extinction.

“We like to make concise statements”, Keijo Niinimaa says about their whopping 11th EP. While the band’s longtime raging vocalist still has hope for the future, when it comes to our current state of affairs, his outlook on Mass Extinction is more dire than ever. “Bringing about real meaningful change seems to take forever. Misinformation, polarization, conspiracy theories and censorship have made everyone more distrustful”.

Few extreme bands have enjoyed the shelf life of Rotten Sound. Since emerging from underground Vaasa with their debut album Under Pressure, the Finnish exports have cultivated a reputation as one of the larger scene’s most pungent yet stabilizing presences. Niinimaa first grabbed the mic not long after guitarist Mika Aalto started the band back in 1993, while drummer Sami Lava has held the throne since 2004, when original stickman Kai Hahto left to found Wintersun. Early albums Murderworks and Exit are still widely cited road maps for grindcore, though their high-speed blend of classic D-beat punk and Swedish death metal has only sharpened with each successive stab in the studio.

“…an absolutely essential listen from a legendary band”, Invisible Oranges wrote upon the arrival of Apocalypse, Rotten Sound’s eighth and latest LP. “This is the sound of a band who have mastered the genre’s machinations and are now immortalized in its cannon”.

Each Rotten Sound release spews uncontrollable chaos, but there’s a method to their madness. Since signing with Season of Mist in 2012, the band has followed each full-length with a short statement. Like a mushroom cloud, Mass Extinction arose from the immediate aftermath of Apocalypse. All six off-the-rails tracks were laid down during the same recording sessions before getting mixed at Rain City Recorders and later mastered by Brad Boatright. But their new EP is  no half-life mutation. “Recycle” whirs and churns with the all-consuming power of a supply chain.

“Napalm Death and Nasum have both done longer albums, but that’s their thing”, explains Niinimaa. “Our thing is we want to be straight to the point. After all the recording was done, we decided which songs would go on Apocalypse and which ones made sense together for Mass Extinction”.

Rotten Sound know how to get their message across. In just under 10 minutes, Mass Extinction chews through toxic consumerism, labor exploitation and other plagues on society. Lead single “Brave New World” pushes for unity over divisive politicking behind a barrage of blast beats. But while our leaders certainly need to clean up their act, there’s nothing stale about this band’s filthy brand of grindcore. Even the slightly optimistic “Idealist” gives way to a downright hostile groove upon Niinimaa’s screaming command.

“Wake up!” With so much atomic force, it’s impossible not to heed Rotten Sound’s warning on Mass Extinction.

VAN ZANT Release New Music Video ‘Awesome God’ from Latest Album

Southern rock icons Van Zant are pleased to release today the new single and official music video, “Awesome God”, taken from their latest album, “Always Look Up”, out now via Frontiers Music Srl.

Commenting on the track, Donnie stated: “We have a song called ‘Awesome God’ and it was actually written in my mind about Johnny, and from that moment on, he sort of gave his life to Jesus and he became a Christian. God saved him. He got baptized and I could see the spirit of the Lord [in his life]. He sounded different to me. Again, as Christians our job is to go out and to shout to the world with God’s truth”.

Order “Always Look Up” HERE

The new album from Johnny Van Zant (Lynyrd Skynyrd) and Donnie Van Zant (.38 Special) is their first in nearly two decades, and the first to be focused on Christian music, while holding firm to their southern rock roots.

The Van Zant musical dynasty built its foundation firmly on family. Donnie Van Zant co-founded .38 Special and brother Johnny Van Zant is the current lead vocalist for Lynyrd Skynyrd after the passing of their brother Ronnie Van Zant, who fronted and co-founded the iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame rock band.

But throughout their four decades of climbing the southern rock and country charts together and separately, faith has stayed just as important of a factor in the equation, so much so that the guys decided to finally share their inspirational side with the upcoming new album.

“This has been on our bucket list for quite some time to do a gospel record,” says Donnie of the sessions that started during the pandemic. “We’re both big believers in Jesus Christ, so that’s really how it started.”

In spite of their enormous successes, much of what makes Van Zant so relatable is the fact they’ll be the first to admit their flaws and struggles.

“I’ll be honest with you, the devil was my best friend at one time,” says Johnny. “I’m not gonna lie about that and there ain’t too much that I didn’t try over the years, but I always kept hearing our dad speaking the Bible [in my mind]. Our dad should’ve been a preacher, because boy when he started talking the gospel, you didn’t get up and move. Of course as kids, I think we listened to half of it and tried to consume what we could, so that was always in the back of my head. I always believed in Jesus Christ, but I wasn’t saved and I felt like I had my personal connection, just like the song ‘It’s Up To You’ that’s on this new album. Over the years, that voice of my dad was reminding me to try to be a better person. I made lots of mistakes, lots of things that hopefully I don’t get to the pearly gates and they’re closed for me. I’m trying to get through them now!”

Adds Donnie: “We’ve tried our very best to just write about truth, about people, about problems and situations and just try to be true to ourselves. We don’t write nothing that’s B.S. We try to touch people emotionally and spiritually. If we can do that, I think we’ve done our jobs.”

“Always Look Up” Track Listing:
1. Awesome God
2. Stand Up
3. Warrior
4. There You Are
5. Speak His Name
6. Why God Brought Me Here
7. Praying
8. It’s Up to You
9. Holy Moment
10. Leaning on the Cross

EVOCATUS Unleash New Music Video for ‘Devoted To Inevitable Death’

Melodic Death Metal legion EVOCATUS has unleashed the official music video for their monolithic title track, “Devoted to Inevitable Death.” This aggressive, animated single arrives as a new visual chapter from their uncompromising album, INEVITABLE DEATH, out via WormHoleDeath.

“Devoted To Inevitable Death” is a thunderous ode to fate, warfare, and the inescapable end that comes for us all…

Vaughan explains: “I wrote the main riff for this song just after recording finished for our last album, Path to Tartarus, not quite making it in time for that release. I was listening to a lot of Beyond Creation at the time, and this main riff was inspired by the chunky intro on Omnipresent Perception. I aimed to combine this with the soaring highs and churning lows of the choruses to really give it a contrasting ‘triumph through tribulation’ feeling. This song also has my favourite solo on the album, very happy with how it turned out.”

The new music video is illustrated, animated, and edited by @VKI-ILL, bringing the track’s intensity and emotion into a visual world of war-torn myth and looming finality.

NEW MISERABLE EXPERIENCE Release New Single + Video ‘The Devil We Know’

New Miserable Experience, featuring an all-star cast with members of Rivers of Nihil, Rosetta, ex-Revocation, Model Prisoner and Rivers of Nihil, have revealed their new single ‘The Devil We Know’.

‘The Devil We Know’ is taken from the band’s new album Gild The Lily, due 23rd January via Pelagic Records.

Pre-order Gild The Lily and stream ‘The Devil We Know’ here: https://orcd.co/newmiserableexperience

New Miserable Experience are a Philadelphia-rooted collective that reshapes heavy-music rigour into expansive, melody-forward songs through alternative synth-rock. What started as a file-trading collaboration between vocalist/bassist David Grossman (ex-Rosetta) and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Mahesh Kost (Model Prisoner) expanded into a full band that now includes Rosetta drummer Bruce “B.J.” McMurtrie Jr., technical-metal bassist Brett Bamberger (ex-Revocation), and guitarist Brody Uttley (Rivers of Nihil).

Each member of New Miserable Experience contributes a distinctive sonic fingerprint. The vocals act as the emotional centre, delivering lines that feel confessional and immediate; synths and guitars are constructed with shimmering arpeggios and decisive motifs; percussion and production choices blend groove and tension within electronic nuance; and bass work often functions as a countermelody, lifting refrains and anchoring transitions. Together the five players emphasise careful craft over spectacle, shaping a song that rewards patient listening.

Across the twelve tightly arranged tracks of 3rd album Gild The Lily, the band pares its palette to essential elements: clear melodies, precise dynamics, and richly textured production. The album trades overt bombast for craft, building emotional weight through small gestures and patient arrangements rather than moments of spectacle.

Elements of Gild the Lily combines alternative synth rock with chorus-tinted guitars, and a rhythm section that alternates between taut propulsion and roomy, reverb-soaked space. Elements of artists as lauded and disparate as Crosses, Ulver, The Black Queen and more combine to irresistible effect.

Tracklisting:

1.    Heartsick
2.    Ordinary People
3.    The Devil We Know
4.    In the House of Denial
5.    Infinite Sadness
6.    Payback From God
7.    Yours to Bury
8.    Perfect Things
9.    Letters to Insomnia
10.    Perfect Blue
11.    Running the Fear of it Dry
12.    Ataraxia

New Miserable Experience are:
Josh Kost (multi-instrumentalist)
Brody Uttley (guitar)
Brett Bamberger (bass)
David Grossman (vocals)
BJ McMurtrie (drums)

IT’sALIE Share Visualizer for New Single ‘Believers Of Leaders’ from Upcoming Album “Wild Games”

The Italian rockers IT’sALIE share today the new single and accompanying visualizer, “Believers Of Leaders”, the second one from their upcoming studio album, “Wild Games”, set for release on February 27, 2026, via Frontiers Music Srl.

The band described the new single by saying: “For us, it’s one of the tracks that best captures the spirit of the album, and it was also among the most fun to record, play, and sing. A blend of influences with a touch that echoes Ozzy’s No More Tears era, it’s set to become one of the most explosive moments of our live shows!”

Pre-Order “Wild Games” HERE

Talking about the record, the band said: “With this chapter, we wanted to set the stylistic coordinates of a Hard & Heavy sound that starts from the blues and returns to the blues. Giorgia’s voice – carrying within it all the power of the great rock singers of the ’70s (Janis Joplin, Ann Wilson, Aretha Franklin, …) – brings a unique color to a sound that bridges Lynch Mob, Black Sabbath (Dio–Martin era), and Southern Rock”.

“We entrusted the production to Mat Sinner (who, from this album onward, also plays bass in the band), while Magnus Karlsson handled the mix and mastering. We are very satisfied with the result and consider it a major achievement to place it in the hands of the Frontiers team!”, they continued.

“Wild Games” Tracklist:

1.    Waiting For The Rain
2.    One Way To Rock
3.    Living In The City
4.    History Remains
5.    Believers Of Leaders
6.    Rebels
7.    Bring It On
8.    Gates Of Faith
9.    Wake Up Call
10.    Death Road
11.    Spirits

IT’sALIE are a dynamic hard rock band fronted by powerhouse vocalist Giorgia Colleluori (also known for her work with Eternal Idol and Rock Meets Classic). With her commanding voice and magnetic stage presence, Giorgia leads the band through a mix of melodic hooks, crushing riffs, and pure rock attitude.

Since their formation, IT’sALIE have built a reputation for delivering explosive live performances and crafting songs that fuse classic hard rock roots with a modern edge. Their debut album introduced the band’s fierce energy to the world, and now “Wild Games” pushes that sound further – bold, passionate, and unmistakably IT’sALIE.

Now they are back with their brand-new album “Wild Games”! The powerhouse hard rock band IT’sALIE return with a thunderous new album that captures the raw spirit, energy, and attitude of pure rock ‘n’ roll.

“Wild Games” is a high-octane ride through anthemic riffs, soaring vocals, and pounding rhythms – an unfiltered shot of adrenaline that cements IT’sALIE’s reputation as one of the most electrifying acts in modern hard rock. Produced with the help of Mat Sinner and mixed by Magnus Karlsson, Wild Games takes listeners on a journey through the real r’n’r emotions!

Each track showcases the band’s unmistakable chemistry and signature sound: bold, unapologetic, and made to be played loud. IT’sALIE are here to remind the world that hard rock is alive, dangerous, and louder than ever.

The band was founded by rock singer Giorgia Colleluori (Sinner, Rock Meets Classic, and former Eternal Idol), who teamed up with Mat Sinner, the band’s manager and co-producer, and drummer Camillo Colleluori (former Eternal Idol).

In 2020, their debut album “Lilith” was released via ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records, earning excellent reviews from major European rock and metal magazines and webzines. Giorgia was quickly recognized as one of the most outstanding voices in the scene, further showcasing her commanding stage presence during the Rock Meets Classic tours and in the band’s first two videos, “Fire” and “Wind,” both included on Lilith.

On December 1, 2021, the band returned to the studio to record their second album, “Emosphere”, which was released on December 9, 2022, again through ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records. The band began performing on national stages in support of the release, receiving excellent feedback and reviews not only for the album itself but also for their fully live show.

In 2023, with the addition of talented guitarist Leonardo Duranti, the band solidified its lineup. Mat Sinner took on a dual role as producer and bassist, and during the same year, the band began writing their third album, collaborating with Magnus Karlsson on three songs.

Line Up:
Giorgia Colleluori
Leonardo Duranti
Mat Sinner
Camillo Colleluori

Thanks to the success of PAUL DI’ANNO‘s posthumous album ‘In Memory Of’, released by Metalville, it was possible to donate €1,000 to the non-profit charity organisation METALITY.

Several members of the METALITY Chapter Cologne/Bonn visited Metalville to accept the donation chèque. We are grateful and happy that so many people still carry Paul in their hearts and love his music.

We believe that donating this money to such a special charity organisation as METALITY would have been in line with Paul’s wishes and his big heart for all people who are not always on the sunny side of life.
