96 BITTER BEINGS: Release New Single ‘Wish Me Dead’

Fresh off the road from their first U.S. tour in years, Los Angeles rock band 96 BITTER BEINGS has dropped a brand new single, ‘Wish Me Dead’, from their highly-anticipated second full-length album, “Synergy Restored“, that’s due on November 4th from Nuclear Blast.

Founding songwriter, vocalist and guitarist Deron Miller says of the song:

“At some point in their lives, many of us come face to face with that special someone that actually puts more time and effort into attempting to get us to fail than they do into trying to succeed themselves. Jealousy is so baffling because it is too transparent of an emotion to deny. There’s nothing else you can call it…whether you are the recipient or the one dishing it out.
We knocked it out of the park on ‘Wish Me Dead‘. Instantly you recognize that classic CKY sound; and a song I am this proud of has only come around once or twice in my whole life.”

Years in the making, 96 BITTER BEINGS’Synergy Restored is 11 songs of relentless power and vibe. Four-on-the-floor, fuzzy and visceral, proper rock n’ roll made by an actual band, rather than a bunch of over-processed samples and otherwise stale shenanigans. Songs like ‘Vaudeville’s Revenge‘, ‘90 Car Pile-Up‘, and ‘Wish Me Dead‘ offer vivid reminders of the truth-telling prowess of guitars, bass, and drums. Miller is on fire, weaponizing the same knack for memorable musical epiphanies behind projects like FOREIGN OBJECTS, WORLD UNDER BLOOD and CKY.

“Synergy Restored” Tracklisting:
1. Vaudeville’s Revenge
2. Wish Me Dead
3. Fire Skyline
4. Throw Yourself Inside
5. 90 Car Pile Up
6. Bedtime Story
7. Bloodrock Mania
8. Slither Away
9. Taken By Surprise
10. Adios Amigo
11. Conditioned Or Unconditional

About 96 BITTER BEINGS:

Deron Miller gives his life to the riff. Unrestrained by industry expectations and genre limitations, the boundlessly prolific guitarist and voice behind multiple beloved projects is best known as the founder, frontman, and songwriter in CKY. His authentic and effortlessly hooky heavy rock obsession returns with 96 BITTER BEINGS. Reinvigorated and ready to rumble all over again, Miller roars back with the same reverence for riffage that made underground hits out of CKY anthems like “Flesh Into Gear,” “Escape from Hellview,” and “Disengage the Simulator” from 1998 till 2011.

The familiar warmth, feel, groove, and unapologetic honesty which drove the song “96 Quite Bitter Beings” to 54 million streams (on Spotify alone) permeates the pair of albums unleashed by 96BB.

A successful crowdfunding campaign saw Miller, guitarist Kenneth Hunter, bassist Shaun Luera and Shaun’s brother, drummer Tim, conjure up 2018’s Camp Pain in limited release. North American touring followed, wrapping up shortly before the COVID-19 shutdowns.

“After CKY and a short break, I decided to continue, without changing the sound,” Miller explains. “Because that’s what I do. It’s what I love to do and what people say I do well. All of the guys who got in the band with me are great musicians. And each of them is hungry. They have priorities and ambitions about being in a rock band, no matter the grim state of pop music out there. If we can bring rock and metal back to the mainstream, in some way, that’s the dream.”

96 BITTER BEINGS Lineup:
Deron Miller – Vocals/Guitar
Kenneth Hunter – Guitar
Shaun Luera – Bass
Tim Luera – Drums

CANNIBAL CORPSE continues to tour in support of their critically cherished Violence Unimagined full-length, released last year via Metal Blade Records. Comprising eleven tracks, Violence Unimagined is state of the art death metal played with passion and breathless precision, making for another flawless addition to what is inarguably one of the premier catalogues of the genre. While they continue to do what they do with aplomb, the one substantial change to CANNIBAL CORPSE is the addition of guitarist Erik Rutan to their ranks, joining bassist Alex Webster, founding drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz, guitarist Rob Barrett, and vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher. Known for his roles in Morbid Angel, Ripping Corpse, and most notably fronting the mighty Hate Eternal, Rutan has long established himself as one of the most dynamic forces in contemporary death metal. Simultaneously, he has built up a reputation as one of the most in demand producers in metal, having previously produced four CANNIBAL CORPSE albums (in addition to Violence Unimagined), alongside the likes of Goatwhore, Soilent Green, and Belphegor. Filling in live on guitar since 2019, in 2020 he became a full member, contributing to the writing process.

“The overall richness of this release is stunning, be it the staircasing whorl of ‘Slowly Sawn,’ the weird spatial patterns of what should’ve been the album closer, ‘Overtorture,’ the thematic red herring of ‘Follow The Blood,’ or the fact that the latter’s lead at 3:03 evokes – against all fucking odds – Crimson Glory’s Transcendence.” – Decibel Magazine

“…no death metal band maintains such a pure, vibrant energy.” – Pitchfork

“CANNIBAL CORPSE doesn’t simply continue to prove its relevance with Violence Unimagined, they’ve offered an album that’s as good as anything death metal fans could hope for in 2021. They sound as savage as a new band that’s trying to make its mark.” – Blabbermouth

“…the Floridians’ fifteenth studio album serves as a periodic reminder that, no matter how many pig-squealing, crypt-plundering, meat-sculpting scavengers follow in their entrail-strewn wake, nobody will ever topple them from atop their flesh-embroidered throne.” – MetalSucks

Co-Founder and Former SORROWS PATH Guitarist Kostas Salomidis Forms New Band DISTORTED REFLECTION

Sorrows Path have released four power-doom albums and are considered one of the most well known Greek metal bands. When they were ready to record their fifth album, the co-founder and guitarist Kostas Salomidis decided to leave the band for musical reasons.

Kostas formed his own band DISTORTED REFLECTION. hey are totally dedicated to his unique doom vision, but even more heavy. Distorted Reflection is not a new story. Back in 1993, when Takis Drakopoulos formed Sorrows Path, Kostas suggested to him two band names: “Sorrow’s Path” and “Distorted Reflection”. Takis selected “Sorrows Path”, so “Distorted Reflection” is Kostas’ musical path. He will also have vocal duties for the very first time and Distorted Reflection will announce some great musicians very soon.

The famous Tomas Arfert (Candlemass, Krux) created the logo and he will also take care of all the artwork for the first album of the band. This will be titled “Doom Rules Eternally” and will be released next year. The recording of the album will take place at Fragile Studio with producer Vangelis Yalamas and will start late September.

Doom Rules = D.R.

Distorted Reflection = D.R.

Eternally…

NILE Mastermind KARL SANDERS: Releases Animated Music Video for ‘The Disembodied Yet Slither Among Us’

Posted by aliblackdiamond on August 30, 2022
Posted in: Int. News. Tagged: 'The Disembodied Yet Slither Among Us', Karl Sanders. Leave a comment

Last month, NILE mastermind and multi-instrumentalist KARL SANDERS unleashed the acclaimed third installment of his haunting Eastern-ambient Saurian solo project, “Saurian Apocalypse” via Napalm Records.

Now, he has revealed another brand new, eerily styled animated music video for album favorite “The Disembodied Yet Slither Among Us“, created by video animator Mahmud Geceksu, and Joshua Ward, who provided additional video FX and titles, both building upon the album’s incredible artwork by Michal Xaay Loranc. The video perfectly coalesces with the track’s hypnotizing tribal auras and foreboding ambience, creating a companion piece that accents the original mystery of the music itself.

KARL SANDERS says about “The Disembodied Yet Slither Among Us” and its accompanying video:
“I am very happy to present music fans with a new video for “The Disembodied Yet Slither Among Us”. The psychedelic, mind melting video was a labor of love by personal friends of mine.
“The Disembodied” video has original artwork by Saurian/NILE artist Xaay, animations by Mahmud Gecekesu, and additional FX and titles by Joshua Ward. The video has a super immersive vibe, really melding with the mood of the song.

I was fortunate to get to know Mahmud when we worked together on  the Serapeum project – Nader Sadek, Mahmud , Derek Roddy and I collaborating in Cairo. I really enjoyed his guitar work, and had hoped to also have Mahmud play guest Oud and Saz on the Saurian album, but his busy schedule and the pandemic  worked against us. It eventually turned out, however, that Mahmud was also totally on board for a video collaboration. Despite his busy schedule, Mahmud found time to do some incredible, mind bending interpretations of the song via animating Xaay’s Saurian album artwork. I am really happy with how the video  turned out.
Super appreciation and thanks to my Metal Brothers Mahmud, Josh and Xaay.”

Check out the video:

“Saurian Apocalypse” arrives 13 years after the release of its predecessor, 2009’s Saurian Exorcisms, and nearly 20 after 2004’s equally lauded Saurian Meditation. The musical and lyrical themes on the album detail the vexing fictional journey of Dr. Eduardo Lucciani, one of very few survivors of mankind’s self-destruction, who descends into madness after discovering the violent horrors occurring at the hands of the Saurian Masters.

Emphasized by unique instruments like the baglama saz (Turkish lute), Ancient Egyptian Anubis Sistrum, Dumbek (Middle Eastern goblet drum), glissentar and gongs, the album’s score weaves cinematic auras and deep grooves, accented by the tribal percussive stylings of original NILE drummer Pete Hammoura and returning Saurian vocalist Mike Breazeale. A wealth of musical growth and refinement, both in Sanders’ guitar technique and compositional development, is strikingly evident. Eons more than just an album of interludes or ambient scores, “Saurian Apocalypse” is a shining advancement in the Saurian series, and the most dynamic, detailed KARL SANDERS solo release yet.

Order “Saurian Apocalypse” HERE.
