MALEVOLENCE Release New Video for ‘Higher Place’

With their critically acclaimed new studio album Malicious Intent, MALEVOLENCE have staked out their place as one of contemporary metal’s heavyweight acts.

These rising UK stars are now out to conquer the world, undertaking a huge run of major live dates this summer and into 2023. After blowing away audiences at the likes of Download Festival UK, Knotfest Germany and the Bring Me The Horizon Malta Weekender, following on from a UK arena tour with Architects and Sleep Token, the British bruisers are pleased to announce more shows.

Malevolence have revealed two new headline shows this August, in Colchester (UK) and Paris (FR), before they launch into two German shows supporting Lamb Of God, followed by an Australian run in September with Thy Art Is Murder, Carnifex and I AM. The band will also be accompanying Trivium on their extensive EU tour leg, with Heaven Shall Burn and Obituary, following on from the UK shows.

To support these dates, the band have today released a brand new video to accompany album highlight ‘Higher Place’. Showing off their creative breadth, the single breaks with their usual aggressive metal swagger. ‘Higher Place’ is a show stopping, southern groove flavoured ballad.

Front-man Alex Taylor commented,
“Higher Place focuses on a subject which everyone will deal with at some point in loss; death/bereavement. This is one most heartfelt songs we have written as a band, however once we began writing this song, it came together very naturally. This song is a huge step outside our comfort zone, we hope you enjoy it!
The visuals for this song was our first venture into a narrative driven video, filmed in our hometown of Sheffield. We worked closely with Enon Films to bring the concept to life.”

Video Director Gabriel Fernández-Gil commented,
“The song inspired sorrow, drama, and a dark epicness, which is what guided us in the making of this video.
In the story you’ll be able to identify themes of loss, revenge, and UK’s knife-crime epidemic.
As the lyrics and instrumentation, our characters “ascend” to different metaphorical planes of existence, or lack thereof.”

To accompany the video, the band have released an alternative acoustic version of ‘Higher Place’ digitally, giving fans yet another glimpse into Malevolence’s bottomless artistic flair.

LOST SOCIETY are known for being a killer live band – their energetic, neck-breaking shows tickle even the crankiest people into becoming moshpit berserkers.

With their third single from upcoming album If The Sky Came Down (out September 30th via Nuclear Blast), they deliver the ultimate banger for festival crowds.

Frontman Samy Elbanna states:
“With festivals finally back in action, we’ve had the pleasure of playing some of the biggest ones this summer, and we wanted to honour this by filming our biggest show to date and making an absolute monster of a music video out of it! Sam Jamsen, the mastermind behind the video, really captured the intensity of an LxSx live show, and the video is a perfect way of continuing the story of the new album.”

Dealing with mental health issues in the lyrics throughout the album, this song addresses addiction.

Samy Elbanna explains: “The human mind is one of the most complex things we know, and our curiosity towards the unknown is powerful. “What Have I Done” is a story of what can happen when you push that curiosity to an absolute extreme, and you realise you’ve become addicted to something you know is not right.”

IN FLAMES Release Thrashing New Track ‘The Great Deceiver’

Last weekend, Sweden’s foremost metal legends tore down the stage at SLIPKNOT’s German KNOTFEST edition with their world-renowned live show. IN FLAMES continue to surprise their fans with a new offering of their mindblowing skills: Gothenburg’s finest release a brand-new track titled ‘The Great Deceiver’ – a crushing piece of high-class modern metal, carving IN FLAMES’ unique mark deep into the current scene’s foundations.

Together with ‘The Great Deceiver’, IN FLAMES announce their return to the European stages with an extensive tour in late 2022 supported by AT THE GATES, IMMINENCE and ORBIT CULTURE. All tour dates can be found below.

The band states:
“The Great Deceiver was born out of frustration, basically a reaction to false flags but since then it has grown to represent several meanings. There’s a line that says “Bend the truth to fit your opinion” and I feel that speaks a lot to the narrative happening online, between people, and nations etc. today. We are more a part now than ever before yet it’s easier to communicate than in any other time in history.”

This August, IN FLAMES gloriously return with their very own live show – following the huge success of the event’s debut at Borgholm’s castle in 2018, this year’s edition will be held within the walls of a former limestone quarry in Dalhalla on August 6th. MUNROES THUNDER – Feat. Former Metal Church Vocalist Ronny Munroe – Sign With RFL Records, Announce New Album “The Black Watch,” Out October 28th

The unparalleled voice of metal, Ronny Munroe and MUNROES THUNDER, have inked a Worldwide deal with RFL Records & Entertainment for the project MUNROES THUNDER; Announce new album “The Black Watch,” set for an October 28th release.

Six years in the making and well worth the wait, the project known as Munroes Thunder, prepares to unleash “The Black Watch.” It’s a journey where melodic power metal tells the tale of darkness, betrayal and bravery during the reign of one of history’s most recognized Queens, Mary Queen Of Scots. Mary Queen of Scots, original name Mary Stuart or Mary Stewart, (born December 8, 1542, Linlithgow Palace, West Lothian, Scotland—died February 8, 1587, Fotheringhay Castle, Northamptonshire, England), queen of Scotland (1542–67) and queen consort of France (1559–60). Her unwise marital and political actions provoked rebellion among the Scottish nobles, forcing her to flee to England, where she was eventually beheaded as a Roman Catholic threat to the English throne.

The story is one of history’s most recognized tales and Munroe, coincidentally, has ties to the legendary history of the Queen:

Ronny Munroe – Munroes Thunder, “The Black Watch,” is loosely based on my family heritage, as some of my ancestors were actually in the black watch who guarded Mary, Queen Of Scots. Finding that out intrigued me enough to do a concept record about my family heritage.

The story of Mary and the watch who guarded the queen is only one piece of this album and secondary in a sense. During the writing of the album, the person who spearheaded the project, Ronny’s wife, J Von Hughes Munroe, was experiencing terrible pain in her abdomen. She was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer which had spread. The project was put on hiatus as the Munroe’s set in for a battle which J Von eventually lost in June of 2019. This album has a piece of her within its music and its journey will be heard now through these songs. It’s Ronny’s ultimate tribute to her and that sentiment reached the performers on the record, deeply.

David Mark Pearce – I was asked to be the guitarist and musical director for Munroe’s Thunder by my dear friend, J Von Hughes-Munroe. Ronny, Justin, BJ, Oliver and myself, have put our hearts and souls into this however, sadly, Joy never got to hear the final version. So – play it loud when you get to hear it!  I am very proud of this album and the immense talent I was lucky enough to play with. My thanks go to Jon and everyone at RFL records for believing in us and finally letting the world know that MUNROE’S THUNDER has arrived!

Jon Marchewka (Marhefka) RFL Records: “I am honored to be the label to release “The Black Watch.” My friendship with Ronny and J Von is something that I will always cherish. Ronny and Joy cared enough to support me and Joy was a wonderful human being who is sadly missed by so many. Six years ago I was offered to release the album, but the stars did not align for a young label and a major release. Ronny remembered that we discussed releasing it and brought it to me again. This time we are ready to share this with the world and J Von will finally have the chance to experience it with all of us. My wish is that she is smiling down from heaven.”

The album consists of 11 tracks that will melt your face and deeply take you on an epic journey. It is Ronny Munroes finest work.

Ronny Munroe – After a very long wait, this record is finally finished and ready for you all to hear. I am very proud and elated by all the hard work that went into it, from the hours of research to the countless hours from DMP behind the board and all the remarkable talent that is on the album. Thank you so much to Jon and the team at RFL Records for having faith in our vision and for finally bringing Munroe’s Thunder to the masses.

Ronny Munroe is an American singer, most noted as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Metal Church. Ronny recorded three albums with Metal Church before the band decided to call it quits in 2009. His second tenure with the band lasted from 2012 when the group reunited until 2014, where he left to “pursue other interests.” In October 2011, Munroe joined the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, as a vocalist, which further defined his prominence as one of metals elite. In July of 2022, Munroe was announced as the new lead vocalist for the power metal titans, Vicious Rumors.

Munroe has an extensive background as a lead singer and has fronted acts such as Zero Discipline, Madhouse, Moxi, the Seattle band Paladin from 1986 to 1988 and also the band Farcry in the early 90’s.

Munroes Thunder meshes Metal Church, Savatage, Vicious Rumors and Iron Maiden and there is something for every metal fan here. Munroes broad vocal range and power highlight the album and its easy to see that there is still plenty of fire left in the heart and voice of the talented rocker.

Munroes Thunder “The Black Watch” releases on October 28th, 2022 via RFL Records with album details and tracklist to be announced soon.

Lineup:

Ronny Munroe – Vocals
David Mark Pearce – Guitars
BJ Zampa – Drums
Justin Zych – Guitar

UMBILICUS Release Video for New Single ‘Gates Of Neptune’

UMBILICUS have released their third single, “Gates Of Neptune”, from their upcoming debut album “Path Of 1000 Suns”, with an accompanying video. Fresh onto the scene, the quartet have put their death metal chops aside, and embraced their collective love of 60s and 70s hard rock.

On “Gates Of Neptune”, Nordberg said: “Gates is definitely one of my favorite songs on the album.  It’s a pretty simple song, but it says so much and is so incredibly dynamic. It really takes you on a journey.  Brian’s vocals are also absolutely beautiful on this track, and really made it go from a neat song to an epic one! Though we made the band to make some classic hard rock, one of the things that made all those old bands so good was because they were able to be dynamic and have a “ballad” track on an album. “Dream On” I rest my case! We hope you all enjoy this song.

“Path Of 1000 Suns” can be pre-ordered at umbilicusband.bandcamp.com

“Path Of 1000 Suns” will be out September 30th on Listenable Insanity Records, and was mixed and mastered at Smoke & Mirrors Productions by Taylor Nordberg. The “Gates Of Neptune” music video was edited by Daniel Wahlström at Heavy Groove Media.

Path Of 1000 Suns track-listing:
1. Hello Future
2. Umbilicus
3. Gates Of Neptune
4. I, Human
5. Stump Sponge
6. My Own Tide
7. Life On The Sun
8. The Call
9. Traveler
10. Gathering At The Kuiper Belt

The group is comprised of drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz (CANNIBAL CORPSE), guitarist Taylor Nordberg (DEICIDE, INHUMAN CONDITION, THE ABSENCE), bassist Vernon Blake (ANARCHUS, NAPALM DEATH – live), and vocalist and lyricist Brian Stephenson (FORE).  The instrumentalists grouped together in the summer of 2020, crafting the music for what became “Path Of 1000 Suns” throughout the remainder of the year, then tapping vocalist Stephenson the following year to complete the lineup.

Blues Rock Guitar Legend PAT TRAVERS Releases New Album on August 19th, Shares New Single ‘Ronnie’ in Tribute to His Friend RONNIE MONTROSE

Posted by tarjavirmakari on August 5, 2022

PAT TRAVERS, the blues rock icon and guitar-slingin’ wizard is set to return to center stage with a masterful new studio album to be released worldwide on August 19. The Art Of Time Travel is a solid testament to the magic of Travers’ unique brand of classic blues rock, which has that supernatural ability to transport listeners into the not-too-distant past when rock was king and guitars dominated the airwaves – all while still sounding as fresh and relevant as ever.

Indeed, The Art Of Time Travel harkens back to the muscular playing of Travers’ late ‘70s heyday, when the artist was topping the charts with smokin’ hot albums such as Crash and Burn and the live Go For What You Know album, yet still tackles current topics such as the COVID quarantine (“Breaking Up In Lockdown”). One of the standout songs is Travers’ emotional and cathartic tribute to his friend and mentor, the late Ronnie Montrose. Montrose was one of the most gifted and influential guitarists of his time, whose profound impact on Travers can be heard on the single “Ronnie” and throughout The Art Of Time Travel.

Stream the single: https://orcd.co/pat_travers_ronnie

Travers had this to say about his relationship with Ronnie: “I was hugely influenced by Ronnie Montrose as a guitar player and band leader. I first saw him playing guitar for Edgar Winter. I just loved his attitude as the lead guitar player. He always had this intense look in his eyes like he was ready to bust out a smoking guitar riff at any second. He became a good friend and it was always a blast to talk with him on the phone. I mentioned to him once about his intense gaze when I had seen him live and he told me that his brothers called him ‘Captain Hi-beams’ when they were kids. I thought that was funny. Ronnie was a very, very nice guy and I miss him.”

Order The Art Of Time Travel now on CD, vinyl or digital!

Track List:

  1. The Art Of Time Travel
  2. Ronnie
  3. No Worries At All
  4. Over And Over
  5. Push Yourself
  6. Move On
  7. Full Spectrum
  8. Breaking Up In Lockdown
  9. I Feel Good
  10. Natalie
