Metal Blade Records 40th Anniversary Celebration Continues with Metal Blade Museum + Live Shows

“We are excited to celebrate 40 Years of METAL BLADE with 3 shows. Two in Las Vegas and one in New York! More details coming soon. Also we will open the METAL BLADE Museum to the public very soon as well!” Founder Brian Slagel

Metal Blade Records continues its 40th-anniversary celebration in 2022 with a slew of new events and a kickass exhibit. The fiercely independent label that launched Metallica, Slayer, Armored Saint, Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth, and dozens more iconic heavy metal bands, invites fans to live shows in Brooklyn, New York, and Las Vegas, Nevada, home to the Metal Blade Museum.

Technical death metal merchants RIVERS OF NIHIL headline the first Metal Blade Records 40th show on August 6th at Brooklyn’s famed St. Vitus venue, with a DJ set from REVOCATION‘s Dave Davidson.

SACRED REICH, an integral part of the thrash movement still churning out classics on Metal Blade, tops the bill on September 17th at The Space in Las Vegas. A Metal Blade Records 40th show at the Las Vegas House Of Blues on October 5th will feature a major headlining act to be announced later this summer.

At each of these events celebrating the label’s history, Metal Blade will raffle 40th-anniversary swag bags. Fans can purchase celebratory shirts and other merchandise, including the “decade” themed tees launched alongside the Metal Blade 40th Playlists, collected here: metalblade.com/40thanniversary

Las Vegas is the site of the METAL BLADE MUSEUM, a specially curated exhibit stocked with timeless memorabilia and artifacts spanning the label’s history, from 1982 through the present day. Check out Part 1 of a special video tour of the Metal Blade Museum right here:

The Metal Blade Records 40th-anniversary celebration kicked off earlier this year with a flurry of activity centered around the label and the extreme music community it represents. Earlier this month, Metal Blade Records was the main sponsor at Decibel Magazine‘s Metal and Beer Fest in Philadelphia, headlined by one of the most important death metal bands in history, Metal Blade‘s own CANNIBAL CORPSE.

A 40th-anniversary edition of the Metal Massacre compilation, featuring all of the songs from the original first and second pressings, quickly sold out 2000 copies on clear vinyl through the Metallica website. A Ruby Red-colored vinyl variant, limited to 5000 copies, is available at: metalblade.com/40thanniversary

The ’80s and ’90s-themed shirts can be found at: indiemerch.com/metalbladerecords. New shirts celebrating the following two decades will be announced later this year.

About Metal Blade Records:
Founded upon owner Brian Slagel‘s enduring drive to find great bands and get their music out to as many people as possible, since 1982 Metal Blade has brought wave after wave of powerful, innovative, and often genre-defining music to the ever-hungry metal masses. It is this ethos that has seen Metal Blade build up a stunning and diverse catalogue, weather the various storms facing any independent label, and in an age of declining record sales boast the most successful years of its existence as it celebrates its fourth decade.

Metal Blade Records launched Metallica, Slayer, Armored Saint, Fates Warning, GWAR, Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth, Whitechapel, The Black Dahlia Murder, Cattle Decapitation, and dozens more genre giants, shaping four decades and counting of hard rock, metal, and extreme music culture. Brian Slagel worked as a record store clerk when he founded Metal Blade in 1982, reserving a spot for a young Lars Ulrich on his Metal Massacre compilation series. Metal Blade grew from humble beginnings in Los Angeles to become an international powerhouse, selling millions of albums while remaining fiercely independent. In 2017, Slayer‘s Kerry King inducted the label into the Hall of Heavy Metal History. Slagel‘s For the Sake of Heaviness: The History of Metal Blade Records arrived the same year.

SUPERSONIC BLUES MACHINE Reveal Official Video for ‘Too Late’, New Album Out Now

SUPERSONIC BLUES MACHINE have revealed an official video for “Too Late”, taken from the new album “Voodoo Nation”, released last Friday, June 24th via Provogue / Mascot Label Group. The new album features special guests Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke), Eric Gales, Joe Louis Walker, Ana Popovic, Kirk Fletcher, King Solomon Hicks, Josh Smith & Sonny Landreth

You can watch “Too Late” here:

Also, watch the videos for “8 Ball Lucy” ft. Sonny Landreth | “All Our Love” ft. Charlie Starr

At the core of the band is producer/bass player Fabrizio Grossi (Steve Vai, Alice Cooper, George Clinton, Slash) and drummer Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, Meat Loaf, Brandon Flowers, John Fogerty, Red Hot Chili Peppers) with British rocker Kris Barras replacing Lance Lopez as singer-guitarist. Barras has a recent UK Top 30 album chart hit in March himself, and he is leading the pack of the British hard rock revival with several A-list singles, BBC Radio appearances and sell-out shows.

Talking about the song Kris Barras says, “’Too Late’ originally started life as a potential Kris Barras Band track, but as I was writing more and more towards the Heavy Rock direction, I felt that this song might be more suitable for Supersonic Blues Machine. I sent it over to Fab to see what he thought, and he loved it. He put his own spin on it, I call that “supersonicify-ing’, adding a funkier bassline, soulful BVs and of course, Kenny laying down a fat groove. So, although I wrote the bare bones to the song, it really came to life once everyone had put their own spin on it. The lyrical meaning behind the song is a story of not being able to change the past and not wanting to forgive someone that has done wrong by you. The video kind of takes this story a bit further, showing that maybe holding grudges and not forgiving someone, can ultimately lead to regret. The video was produced in a mixture of places. The band scenes were shot in a Californian desert, the acting scenes were filmed in Serbia and the video was actually edited and colour graded by myself in sunny old England!”

Voodoo Nation is the band’s third studio album. On their evolution, Fabrizio says, “Kris comes from this British school of hard rock and blues. This is a different sound to Kenny and me with the Allman Brothers, Sly Stone & The Family & Mountain. On Californisoul (2017), we were going more West Coast Funkadelic 60s and overall jam vibe. Blues but with more of a hippy flower power.” “With Kris, we wanted his footprint there, so that’s why you hear Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Gary Moore. Kind of a Union Jack imprint over a Star-Spangled Banner.”

The lyrical front on Voodoo Nation is less forgiving than everything in the past. “I’m not saying fuck flower power because that’s always the message,” Grossi says. “But there are very introspective things and a lot of the theatrics that we are dealing with on this record which I would say are fairly common in the blues but are dealt with a twist. There is a lot of Devil’s stuff in this record.”

BLACK STONE CHERRY Unleash “Live From The Royal Albert Hall…Y’All!” + New Live Video, to Tour Europe in September/October w/ The Georgia Thunderbolts

On Wednesday 29 September 2021 – the year of the band’s 20th Anniversary – Kentucky’s favourite sons, BLACK STONE CHERRY, realized their childhood dream of playing at the legendary Royal Albert Hall, London. Sat on the stage at the iconic Victorian building, singer-guitarist Chris Robertson pauses, looks around and says, “When you’re a kid, and you see your heroes’ playing places, and then all of a sudden you find yourself sitting on the stage, it’s pretty emotional. But we’re gonna royally rock it this evening. You better believe that.”

Watch “Blame It On The Boom Boom (Live from the Royal Albert Hall)” below, taken From Live From The Royal Albert Hall… Y’All OUT TODAY Via Mascot Records / Mascot Label Group.

Throughout the set they tear through an impressive back catalogue, playing songs from their most recent studio album ‘The Human Condition – “In Love with the Pain,” ” and the previously released live tracks “Again” and “Ringin’ in My Head” – through to their biggest hits and fan favourites. “Blind Man,” “Hell and High Water,” “Blame it on the Boom Boom,” and “White Trash Millionaire” rock the building alongside moments of tenderness such as the touching rendition and emotional performance of “Things My Father Said.”

Talking about playing the Royal Albert Hall, drummer John-Fred Young said, “To be honest, I was terrified. It was heavy walking in there. You think about how many great acts have played this place. The prestige behind it. We’ve wanted to play the Royal Albert Hall since the first UK tour in 2007.” He continues, “Dudes from the middle of the country in Kentucky to go out here and have built an amazing group of people that we care about and come to our shows and support us. To know that with all that hard work and dedication we have put into Black Stone Cherry, we’ve accomplished something here. Walking in that place, it’s just breath-taking. You walk on that stage, and you say, we did it, and it’s a feeling that I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

On the Blu-Ray, the live footage is dotted with behind-the-scenes interviews, fly on the wall footage and archival insights into the band as kids first starting out, snippets of their first ever UK tour and heartfelt moments of reflection. But ultimately Live From The Royal Albert Hall… Y’All was about bringing rock ‘n’ roll to London, Kentucky style, and they tore the roof off that mother.

IRON SAVIOR Announce “Reforged – Ironbound (Vol. 2)” & Share Re-Recorded Version of Band Classic ‘Solar Wings’

German power metal masters Iron Savior have been active for a quarter of a century now. Consistency and high quality delivery have earned the band around Piet Sielck a large and loyal fanbase.

In 2017, the band started a special project: Their first five studio albums were no longer available at that time (but the band could not simply re-release them for legal reasons), so they decided to re-record some highlight tracks of the Noise Records years. The result, “Reforged – Riding On Fire”, was received positively throughout and made the fans ask for more.

The history of Iron Savior is full of highlights, and there are many more gems that were not selected for a re-recording at that time due to capacity reasons. Thus it quickly became clear: “Reforged” goes into the second round, and Reforged – Ironbound (Vol. 2) will be coming out on August 26, 2022 via AFM Records! Today, Iron Savior has shared a video for the re-recorded version of “Solar Wings”, watch the new clip right here:

“This time we picked 23 songs, which is significantly more than the first “Reforged” part had”, says bandleader Piet Sielck. “The very positive response to “Reforged – Riding On Fire” made us consider a second part. Through direct fan feedback, we then also became aware of how many songs were still slumbering there, which deserved to be suggested for a remake.”

The 23 tracks of the new double album Reforged – Ironbound (Vol. 2) represent a real bastion, both quantitatively and qualitatively. “I am very satisfied with the result,” Sielck states. “It’s always up to the fans out there to evaluate something like this, but in my opinion our second part of “Reforged” surpasses its predecessor. It was great fun to approach the songs again.” Piet adds with a smile: “I’m especially happy that both Jan and Piesel as well as Kai (Hansen) were able to play or sing their original parts. And with the guest solo by my godson Tim Hansen, the whole thing has somehow become a cross-generational family album.”

Reforged – Ironbound (Vol. 2) was again produced by Piet Sielck himself in his Powerhouse Studio, the pre-sale has just started at THIS LOCATION!
