THE DAMNED Announce Live Album “A Night Of A Thousand Vampires”

On October 28th, 2019, THE DAMNED took the stage at London’s prestigious Palladium Theater for a very special immersive musical and theatrical experience – performing songs of their 40-year rich catalog. A true event from showmen supreme, it was a historic night in the history of a storied band and a special evening for fans and band alike. It was also a fond farewell for drummer Pinch, his final gig with his compadres after 20 years.

The long awaited Live-album “A Night Of A Thousand Vampires” teams the first Punk-Band with The Hammer House of Horror and the cast of The Circus of Horrors. With the band and audience in full vampire attire, David Vanian transforms from Dracula into Nosferatu, “Neat Neat Neat” morphs into “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”, and fire-eaters and trapeze artists dazzle to a set that includes classics such as “Wait For the Blackout” and rare performances of appropriate covers like “People Are Strange” and “Eloise.”
A night to remember for those of us amongst the living… and the undead!

Pre-order the album “A Night Of A Thousand Vampires” HERE

Following their formation in 1976, The Damned became the first UK punk band to officially release a single, “New Rose,” and an album “Damned Damned Damned”. With 10 studio albums and several UK chart singles, the band are pioneers who emerged from the London punk scene, earning an ever-expanding fan base fueled by legendary live shows. Their dark lyrics and Dave Vanian’s rich baritone vocals also catapulted The Damned to the forefront of the Goth-Rock Genre. The Damned of today defy any categorization and the ease of which songs from all phases of their career fit together in this groundbreaking spectacle is absolute proof.

A BURDEN TO BEAR Release New Single ‘Ascension’ Feat. Spencer Charnas; New EP “With Empty Eyes and Hollow Hearts” Out on September 16th

A BURDEN TO BEAR released their brand new single “Ascension” (feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills) to all major platforms. The single, mixed by Robin Leijon, is from their EP With Empty Eyes and Hollow Hearts due out on 9/16/22.

The band states, “‘Ascension’ was a song that came together very organically with all five members in the room throwing out opinions and building off each other. Spencer Charnas’ feature came about very naturally as well, as it stemmed from a conversation between Spencer and ABTB guitarist Wyatt in Kleaver Klothing’s booth at Warped Tour. While hesitant at first to work with a producer, Justin Aufdemkampe proved a trusted source of advice and inspiration for ABTB. His studio, Refraze Records, in Dayton Ohio quickly became a home away from home for the band.”

“Ascension” (feat. Spencer Charnas) can be streamed/downloaded at: https://withkoji.com/@abtbofficial

Fort Wayne, Indiana’s own A BURDEN TO BEAR is much like the calm before a nasty storm – captivating audiences with beautiful harmony and melody just to bring them crashing back down to Earth with a display of utter aggression and power. A BURDEN TO BEAR is the product of the hardships and triumphs of five young men who have devoted their life and soul to the music they create.

In 2020 A BURDEN TO BEAR released their single “Forlorn Hope,” and it was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback. “Forlorn Hope” has managed to amass over 180,000 streams on Spotify and over 180,000 views on YouTube in just over one year. The band looks to continue to improve and build upon this initial success with every song they release.

A BURDEN TO BEAR’s upcoming EP With Empty Eyes and Hollow Hearts is more than just a rebirth, it is a statement of who they are becoming as both people and a band. “ABTB” is building their legacy from the ground up with this fresh, new take on melodic metalcore. The band has been working with producer Justin Aufdemkampe (Miss May I, War Of Ages) to craft and perfect their most riveting and impressive release to date. “A Burden To Bear’s new single ‘Ascension’ is a perfect blend of crushing guitar riffs, melodic melodies and heavy breakdowns wrapped up in one big present for the masses. It was a pleasure to produce and work along side the band with this catchy tune!” says Justin.

Adds Spencer Charnas, “It sounds like they have an early Unearth and It Dies Today influence and that is really cool.”

ABTB Show Dates:
Saturday 7/23 @ Legends in Cincinnati, OH
Saturday 9/17 @ Piere’s in Fort Wayne, IN EP Release Show w/ Monuments

A Burden to Bear are:

Frontman/Harsh Vocals: Joe Contreras

KING BULL Release New Single ‘Never Seen You Smile’

‘Never Seen You Smile’ is the latest single from Canadian synth rockers, KING BULL and is available on digital platforms via Riot Records and is the follow up to the recently released track ‘Don’t Want You to Know.’

Stream/buy ‘Never Seen You Smile’ HERE

King Bull’s latest hit single ‘Never Seen You Smile’ does not sound like Metallica. The distorted vocal would likely be considered ignorant by most people, but there’s a chance Iggy Pop would maybe like it. If you have the gout you’ll probably be able to relate to the lyrical content.

King Bull began to really build a name for themselves globally with the release of their 2020 EP What Happened Here which was described as ‘’sonically cohesive throughout, featuring snarling guitars, growling bass, thunderous drums and vocals that sound similar to a jet engine that isn’t working properly.’’ You get the drift. King Bull continue to develop their already sophisticated yet eclectic sound in 2022.

BIRTH (ex-Astra) Drop New Music Video ‘Long Way Down’

Southern California psychedelic/progressive rock unit, BIRTH, released its full-length debut LP, ‘Born‘, on July 15 via UK rock label Bad Omen Records (Wytch Hazel, Spell, Satan’s Satyrs). Featuring members of San Diego’s revered retro rockers Astra, along with current or former members of Joy, Radio Moscow, and Sacri Monti, Birth owns a cavernous cache of credibility rarely found in developing musical groups. Described as “a magic-eye journey into kaleidoscopic sound“, and “a dystopian take on the here and now“, ‘Born‘ is available for purchase at: bit.ly/3O4sdC2

Proof of Birth‘s growing greatness is in the proverbial pudding as the band’s debut has landed on the Billboard charts in its first week of release. ‘Born‘ placed at #17 on Billboard’s Top New Artists Albums, #19 on its Current Hard Music Albums, and at #66 on the Independent Albums Chart. Simultaneously, the album earned the #12 position on the Official UK Independent Album Breakers Chart, #16 on the Official UK Rock / Metal Album Chart, and the #31 spot on the Official UK Independent Album Chart while also scoring the #31 Hard Music Album on the Canadian Billboard Chart and #110 on its Top Current Albums ranking. In its review of the debut, San Diego Magazine called Birth‘s sound “head-trip wizardry” and stated, “Born’ showcases the kind of cosmic journey four seasoned veterans can conjure up when they get into the same room together.“

In celebration of the record’s debuts, Birth unveils a video for the album’s penultimate track “Long Way Down”. The clip, created by Vince Edwards (Behemoth, Motor Sister), sees the band performing the track amidst a kaleidoscopic, Beat-Club setting. View Birth‘s “Long Way Down” below:

“‘Long Way Down” is one of the darker tracks on the album. It was written out of frustration at the state of the world,” says Birth’s Conor Riley. “It’s really about watching the slow decline and trying to hype myself up for the end of it. For the video, we wanted a vintage vibe that captured the darker and chaotic theme of the song. We worked with Vince Edwards who really helped us develop that vision.“

Featuring guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Conor Riley and lead guitarist Brian Ellis, musicians who burst onto the prog-psych scene in the late aughts with Astra, a formidable, foundational group hailed as “prog goliaths” (AllMusic), who would shape the sound of things to come alongside co-conspirators such as Earthless, Diagonal and Dungen, and whose albums ‘The Weirding‘ (2009) and ‘The Black Chord‘ (2012) stand proud as two of the greatest progressive achievements of this century thus far, there is a palatable excitement surrounding Birth and the group has been pegged as one to watch in underground circles, an excitement which kicked into a new gear once a now-deleted demo ep was unleashed, on a pay-what-you-will basis, on the Bandcamp platform in 2021, which marked the spark of creation for the Birth universe and delivered a blast of vibrant progressive rock rich in cinematic scope and psychedelic intensity and laid the groundwork for what was to come.

“Life and death appeared to me ideal bounds, which I should first break through, and pour a torrent of light into our dark world” . So wrote Mary Shelley in Frankenstein, arguably the first science fiction tale. A full 204 years later, the quest remains – how best to elucidate our daily lives with some form of inspiration that moves the spirit beyond its earthly shackles? On ‘Born‘, Birth musically and creatively constructs a science-fiction-inspired sound-world in which bleak tumult and skybound rapture co-exist. The result is an intoxicating album haunted by earthly concerns while its sonics aim simultaneously for the stars.

“I’m a scientist by trade and I read a lot of dystopian sci-fi, which I believe is relevant to many of the events that have been occurring lately,” notes Riley. “These views feed a dark, spiritual and mystical relationship that I have with scientific thought“.

Track listing:
01. Born
02. Descending Us
03. For Yesterday
04. Cosmic Tears
05. Another Time
06. Long Way Down (watch VIDEO)

Birth features Conor Riley (vocals, keyboards, acoustic guitar), Brian Ellis (lead guitar, keyboards), Trevor Mast (bass), and Thomas DiBenedetto (drums). Drums on ‘Born‘ performed by Paul Marrone.

GOATWHORE to Release “Angels Hung from the Arches of Heaven” Full-Length on October 7th

Storming into their twenty-fifth year as purveyors of the most ruthless extreme metal,  GOATWHORE  return with their long-awaited new full-length, Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven, set for release on October 7th via Metal Blade Records!

Unquestionably their strongest, most accomplished album to date in sound, concept, and execution, Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven emits forty-seven desolating minutes of the band’s trademark fusion of death, black, thrash, and classic metal. Delivered with breathless intensity and an unapologetic bloodlust, the twelve-track offering stands among the most thrilling records to come out of 2022. “I would describe this record as being very raw, but clarity is shaped within the chaos,” reflects vocalist Louis Ben Falgoust II. “It’s a journey of everything we’ve done and some new approaches as we advance forward. When we write, we mainly focus on the music and what we enjoy about playing it. We don’t write just to appease others. We want to enjoy playing it in a live setting as well, especially night after night on the road.“

Featuring ferocious beasts like the maniacally thrashing “Born Of Satan’s Flesh,” the oldschool, crossover flavored “Death From Above” with its guttural chorus, and a monolithic title track that is as haunting as it is heavy, the band – Falgoust, guitarist/vocalist Sammy Duet, drummer Zack Simmons, and bassist Robert “TA” Coleman (his first recorded output with the band) – covers a great deal of sonic terrain while retaining that signature, nefarious GOATWHORE aura. With an overall tone described by Duet as “dark and evil” with a perpetual sentiment of “impending dread,” the record allows little light to cling to.

Lyrically, Falgoust draws from a wide array of influences. “Death From Above” is loosely based on the “Nachthexen,” or Night Witches, a group of female Soviet aviators in a bomber division deployed in 1942, a period during which women were in fact barred from combat. Then there’s the multifaceted title track, on which Falgoust ventured into an idea of emotional despondency within older texts and writings, feeling like several of these writings missed an element of human nature/emotion. The title of the record – like all of the band’s releases – is both deep and direct. “It’s a basis of human despondency, the arc of life, and its relationship with the personal abyss of overwhelming emotion and thought,” elaborates Falgoust. “It’s mixture of esoteric ideas and biblical scripts and the journey to the places some people care not to venture on mental paths… The rise and fall of the self and how the abyss can be a turning point for some and a passageway to oblivion for others. It’s blunt and to the point, just like countless aspects of life.“

Teaming up with producer Jarrett Pritchard (Exhumed, 1349) for a second time and tracking primarily at Studio In The Country in Bogalusa, Louisiana under pandemic restrictions, GOATWHORE knew they were in good hands. Praising Pritchard as a great person to work with both in the studio and the live setting, Falgoust notes, “He has a good vision of what we are doing and trying to present. He tests you and forces the best performances out of you. Not in a bad way, just that he knows what each person could do prior to us entering the studio, so he has a level of expectation to push each one of us to our own individual performance levels.“

Additionally, the band recruited acclaimed producer Kurt Ballou (Converge, High On Fire, Gatecreeper, Code Orange) to mix the record, a decision that truly enhances Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven‘s auditory superiority. “Kurt actually brought a lot to the table,” says guitarist Sammy Duet. “He had some opinions on a few of the song structures, which was a first for us because we never had an outside ear giving ideas. The sound of the record speaks for itself.” Final mastering duties were handled by Grammy-award winning engineer Ted Jensen (Ghost, Gojira, Cult Of Luna).

The band also invested greater meaning in the visual components of the album through the use of sigils created by longtime collaborator Jordan Barlow. “We give him an idea and then he just goes with it,” says Falgoust. “We used sigils in the past with our name and other small details, but wanted to make this album more rooted in it. It adds a deeper aspect to our visual presentation. It creates interest and with that inspires questions. We want the listener to delve into this musical journey with us both by sound and vision.”

In advance of Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven‘s official unveiling this Fall, today GOATWHORE unleashes a video for first single, “Born Of Satan’s Flesh,” directed by David Brodsky. Declares Duet, “Prepare yourself for an unabashed violent onslaught of Satanic unsoundness of mind! All hail his Luciferian force and might!“

Adds Falgoust, “Welcome to the manifested curse of our latest offering. During the past five years since our Vengeful Ascension release, entwined with a state of isolation within that period, we have been communing with our inner abyss for inspiration. Idle time is truly the Devil’s workshop. Feast your eyes (and ears) on this latest display of chaos, which is but a fragment of our impending full length release out in October!“
