Israel born and LA based heavy rock artist OHP (OREN HALMUT) has dipped into broader pop-culture with his newest #metalcover of the KATE BUSH single, “Running Up That Hill.” Having taken US pop fans by storm, the Hounds of Love single is reinterpreted by the enigmatic metal madman, moving fast from pop-poetic to guitar driven brutality.
Oren started his musical endeavor at the young age of nine in Tel-Aviv Israel. After playing and recording with numerous artists in his home town, he relocated to California in early 2000. Since then, he has been a prominent musical figure in Los Angeles, across the west coast and the nation. He owns H2O studios in North Hollywood, where he works as a producer, drummer and guitar player depending on the needs of each individual project. In 2016 oren started the “ohp metal” channel on youtube which features weekly metal covers of popular songs ranging from pop ,country, hip hop and RnB .The channel has gained over 10000 subscribers and growing weekly.
Oren currently lives in Los Angeles and is endorsed by Vater drumsticks, Dean Markley Guitar Strings and Moody guitar straps.
American Metal Brigade CORNERS OF SANCTUARY (COS) have released a new music video for their unique tribute cover of Def Leppard’s classic track, “Bringing on the Heartbreak”.
The video marks the second single released from the band’s recent EP, “Defying,” following “Mirror, Mirror” earlier this year.
The “Bringing on the Heartbreak” video has been sponsored by: Vinyl Closet Records, Sunlight of the Spirit House, Castle Blakk Radio, Sol Angel, The Cosmick View and Keep it Metal Promotions
“The impact that comes from doing a cover version of such a popular song can be daunting in my opinion,” said COS guitarist and founder Mick Michaels. “Essentially the best way to approach it is to make the song your own and do it as you only can…this way it’s never just a cheap imitation…it’s your interpretation.”
“Defying” is available on Sonic Velocity Records and was mastered by longtime L.A. producer Bill Metoyer (Slayer, Armored Saint).
In addition, Corners of Sanctuary has also unleashed “Metal Never Dies,” their second “best of” installment; now available digitally on most popular online platforms and streaming sites through Sonic Velocity Records.
This “best of” compilation clocks in at over an hour and a half and contains 20 tracks spanning the band’s 11 year career; old classics and new favorites which were treated with updated versions and recordings. All newly remixed and remastered. The collection also includes two brand new tracks, “Here We are Kings” and the instrumental “At the Gates.”
“Having the opportunity to give these songs a well needed polishing is exciting to us,” said Michaels. “Things change over the years… we have changed and so has the music. So it’s great to be able to get another shot at them.”
“Metal Never Dies” follows 2016’s “Declaration of Metal,” the band’s first compilation outing. Several of the same songs do appear on both releases, although this latest installment features more contemporary incarnations of those tracks.
“Metal Never Dies” encompasses more of who and what this band is today,” added Michaels.
COS has made the compilation’s first single, “On the Hunt 2022,” available for free, for a limited time, exclusively on their website at www.cornersofsanctuary.com.
A limited number of “Metal Never Dies” CDs are also available and can be purchased only through the band, either at their live shows or by ordering directly here.
With a list of show dates set; see below, and more new music on the way as the band is currently working simultaneously on material for an EP as well and continuing working on their next full length, Corners of Sanctuary has definitely shown that for them, the metal never dies.

Following up on the release of their critically acclaimed, thrash-masterpiece, Electrified Brain, Richmond’s hard-charging, metal maniacs MUNICIPAL WASTE have released an epic new animated video for their single ‘Grave Dive’ created by Pierre Mousquet, in which the band summons an army of dead fans for a hell-raising concert with cameos by the Toxic Avenger, Lemmy, The Ramones, Skeletor and countless others.
Commenting on the video, vocalist Tony Foresta says:
“We are very excited to premiere another video off the new record. We thought it would be a good idea to bring back Pierre and IMOV studios for another animated film since we loved the last one so much. This video has more Easter eggs than the holiday where Jesus died.”
Animator and director Mousquet adds:
“Almost ten years after “You’re Cut Off,” I had the chance, once again, to dive into Municipal Waste’s awesome universe to create the “Grave Dive” animated video. The song gave me endless inspiration resulting in too many ideas to fit in a 2:32 long video. So don’t blink!”
It’s time! Time to get a taste of that new WASTE! After months of anticipation, Richmond’s hard-charging, thrash metal maniacs MUNICIPAL WASTE have released their 7th studio album, Electrified Brain, today via Nuclear Blast.

Dutch vocalist/composer CHARLOTTE WESSELS continues her successful solo journey by releasing another new single, the bittersweet “Human To Ruin”, cut from her upcoming second full-length album, Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II, out October 7, 2022 via Napalm Records.
Within this lavish realm of rock, pop, metal and beyond, instruments and vocals were performed/programmed/produced by Wessels herself, also featuring delicate guitar work by Timo Somers (also ex-DELAIN). The second single, “Human To Ruin”, starts with a sweet melody that breaks into a propelling metal track, in which calmer parts alter with powerful break outs. Her inimitable and charismatic voice creates an intimate and mystical atmosphere and underlines CHARLOTTE WESSELS’s versatility! The song is underlined by an atmospheric visualizer to set the perfect mood for this auditive experience.
CHARLOTTE WESSELS on “Human To Ruin”: “With ‘Human To Ruin’ I wanted to make a song that has an old school symphonic feel to it, but at the same time doesn’t get too polished or “pretty” to reflect the theme of the track. The vocal processing on the choruses is inspired by 90’s grunge and the instrumental middle part gives off something psychedelic, all in all it’s quite eclectic.
Thematically, the words in ‘Human To Ruin’ are the things you say to yourself when you feel undeserving of love, or when you feel like you want love just for selfish reasons. I felt compelled to indulge in this feeling without nuancing it, because when you exaggerate a feeling like that, or make it larger than life in a song, it allows you to shout out the frustration on the one hand but it also reminds you that it is probably not all THAT bad in reality.”
On the exciting new offering, Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II, WESSELS’ styles range from melancholic alt-pop to synth-infused rock and connect atmospheric elements with harder sounds, crossing genre boundaries with ease.
CHARLOTTE WESSELS states: “Since May 2020, I’ve been writing and recording a new song every month down in my basement “Six Feet Under Studio”, fueled by – and released to – my tight-knit Patreon community. This album wouldn’t be there without them. I’m excited to team up with Napalm Records again to release a new collection of these tracks with a wider audience.
With Tales From Six Feet Under, I released my favorite tracks of the first year of this endeavor onto the world in 2021, and Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II is its counterpart, with my favorite tracks from the second year. There are definitely differences between the two, with the second leaning more towards the heavier side, but they do belong together.
Together they represent a time of introspection and solitary songwriting in the basement. A time that has taught me a lot and has been very meaningful to me, but also a time that, as I started this project in the middle of Covid quarantine, has already – thankfully – started changing. Not because I won’t be writing and recording Six Feet Under anymore, but because as the world is opening up again, I too will come out of the basement and out of my shell again with live concerts, and collaborations are on the horizon.”
Starting with captivating synth-flavored track “Venus Rising”, CHARLOTTE WESSELS’ lures the listener into her multifaceted world of sound to be spellbound within the blink of an eye. Following “Human To Ruin” mesmerizes with a sweet melody that breaks into a propelling metal track, where calmer parts alter with powerful break outs. Wessels releases her power on other commanding tracks like “The Phantom Touch” and “Good Dog”, while on “The Final Roadtrip”, she presents the full range of her vocal prowess atop carefully balanced electronic beats and indie soundscapes. “Toxic” comes with an obscure, captivating whispering sound that turns into a strong sonic wall, as the album then fades out with the honest atmospheric gems “I Forget” featuring a cello performance by Elianne Anemaat, and “Utopia”.
This eclectic wealth of songs proves Wessels’ exceptional ability to express the sincerest feelings and emotions within her art and her distinct intuition for the combination of seemingly different genres. Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II is an enchanting portent of CHARLOTTE WESSELS’ further multifaceted endeavors.
Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II track listing: 1. Venus Rising 2. Human To Ruin 3. The Phantom Touch 4. Against All Odds 5. A Million Lives 6. The Final Roadtrip 7. Good Dog 8. Toxic 9. I Forget 10. Utopia
Bewitching Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II will be available as 1LP Vinyl GOLD, 1LP Vinyl RECYCLED BLACK, 1LP Vinyl RECYCLED COLOR (Patreon exclusive) as well as on all digital platforms. Moreover, fans will get a combined 2CD Digisleeve that also includes WESSELS‘s exciting first solo offering Tales From Six Feet Under Vol I, which will be released on CD for the first time now! With this eclectic wealth of songs, she debuts a song in her native language with Dutch rocker “Afkicken”. For this occasion, CHARLOTTE WESSELS recently presented a breathtaking full production, cinematic music video. Re-watch this breathtaking work of art HERE!
CHARLOTTE WESSELS will bring her work to the stage on October 23 at TivoliVredenburg – Ronda, in Utrecht, NL, for her first and only live show so far: Tales From Six Feet Under – Live in Concert. Get tickets HERE.
Chicago’s hard hitting rock quartet SOiL are well into their third decade of their incredible music year career. Beginning with their blockbuster major label debut album, 2001’s Scars, which featured two monster hit singles, “Halo” and “Unreal,” SOiL have maintained a devout following by focusing on what they do best, writing and playing some of the most visceral and melodic rock by any modern band on the scene!
Now these veterans are giving their fans a special treat – a new studio album, entitled Play It Forward, consisting of some of the songs that inspired them throughout the years. They’ve already previewed two of the album’s songs, releasing their version of Neil Young’s anthem Rockin’ In The Free World” as well as the Foo Fighters cover “Monkey Wrench,” in honor of drummer Taylor Hawkins. And much more is in store including covers of White Zombie, The Ramones, Leadbelly and more. Today, the band is proud to share an absolutely ripping version of Halsey’s “Nightmare,” accompanied by a suitably sick and twisted music video!
SOiL bassist Tim King adds, “When we were approached by Cleopatra Records with the idea to record a covers album it seemed both exciting and challenging. Outside of the song ‘Black Betty’ we have never really covered any songs before. This gave us a chance to explore some songs we enjoyed growing up on and also taking songs that were never intended to be Hard Rock or Metal and put our own spin on them. It proved to be quite the challenge with our down tuning and figuring out all the different parts and effects in the original versions that you never quite notice during casual listens. The songs we thought were going to be super easy turned out to be the most challenging. In the end we were very happy with the way it all came out and we feel it will give the SOiL fans something to enjoy and have fun with. That was our main goal. To do something fun in the wake of all the horrible things that have been going on in the world.”
Play It Forward will be released on all formats starting August 26. Two album designs were created for the release: a “cassette” design that will be used for the CD packaging and a “skeleton” design that will be used for the first vinyl pressing. A second vinyl pressing featuring the “cassette” artwork will be released in September.
