WHITE WARD Unveil Lyric Video ‘Phoenix’

“Frigid birds fly onward the north, surpassing the distance and gravity
They yet don’t know that there is no home, no place to build a nest
The rest no longer matters; the sacred land fell prey to fire
And someone’s evil will” (lyrics taken from ‘Phoenix‘)

Denoting the importance of the conceptual layer in their Art, Black Metal innovators WHITE WARD created an emblematic lyric video for their song ‘Phoenix‘. The burning tree operates as a symbol for the true and gruesome story of nature’s destruction and the abuse of power. However, as the phoenix rises from the ashes, hope must never be abandoned.

Giving musical life to this narration, WHITE WARD perfected their uncanny formula of merging the harsh aggression of Black Metal fury with melodic as well as dramatic guitar arrangements, subtle saxophone elements and spoken passages. Watch the clip below and immerse yourself in the cosmos of ‘Phoenix‘:

The 3D animation was done by Gabriele Panci, while Stepan Burban/Palindrom took care of the video editing.

Composer Yurii comments on the video:

“The tracks ‘Phoenix‘ and ‘Cronus‘ from “False Light” are both based on real and tragic events. The song ‘Phoenix‘ tells the story of Kateryna Handziuk, a Ukrainian activist, involved in the investigation of the purposeful mass forest fires in the Kherson region that were sanctioned by local officials with ties to organized crime. 2018 saw an acid attack and the subsequent hospital death of Kateryna. We decided to create additional content for these songs to motivate people so they would dig deeper into the lyrics and themes of the compositions. The reason why I mention two tracks is the fact that we planned to make a music video for ‘Cronus‘ as well. However, our plans were destroyed by war…“

“False Light” was released on CD, vinyl and digitally with fitting merch on June 17th. The album is available from the label’s EU, US and Bandcamp shops.

WHITE WARD, from Odessa, Ukraine performs intensely deviant music of a noir shade.

Formed in 2012 and taking root in raw depressive Black Metal, the band rapidly shed all boundaries, taking inspiration from an array of dark atmospheres including the writings of H.P. Lovecraft and I.M. Banks. The band’s excellent early recordings were compiled into the “Origins” compilation released in 2016.

First full-length “Futility Report” was released in 2017 by Debemur Morti Productions to instant critical acclaim. Exploring themes of borderline death states, aberrant afterlife worlds, and strange mental disorders, the WHITE WARD sound had evolved into a unique mix of Post-Black Metal, deeply emotive soundscapes and expansive dark-Jazz atmospheres utilising perfectly fitting saxophone motifs.

WHITE WARD continued to evolve in distinctive directions with 2019’s much-admired “Love Exchange Failure“: the dark-Jazz aesthetics more vibrant and deeper than before, the elements of blackened Death, Progressive and Black Metal – propelled by new drummer Noctum – now more furiously intense and complex. Lyrically the record explored more universal, less-abstract dimensions, diving into the abyss of the human psyche atop the band’s most lush and professional sound to date.

In 2021, WHITE WARD composed and recorded two new songs to celebrate the 200th release of their label Debemur Morti Productions. A continuation of the band’s progressive Black Metal experimentalism, the new EP “Debemur Morti” features Lars Nedland (BORKNAGAR, SOLEFALD) on additional vocals.

Just one year later, in June 2022, the Ukrainian Black Metal innovators are prepared to unleash their third album, “False Light“, incorporating and intertwining various influences into a potent and dystopian mix. “False Light” is an indispensable record from a stunning band at the top of their game, skillfully giving form to urban angst and the writings of Mykhailo Kotsubinsky, a famous Ukrainian writer of the early 20th century.

TANELI Release First Single in English ‘When the Stars Begin to Fall’

Helsinki based rockers TANELI are releasing their anticipated first single in English. When the Stars Begin to Fall is now available on every relevant streaming platform. Watch the lyric video below.

The bands first single “Nakna” was highlighted as best of the week in Finland’s largest music magazine SOUNDI’s demo section and was described as a mixture of Red hot chili peppers, Kings of Leon and the Swedish rock band Kent.

The bands mutual love for Kent was also a reason that the vocals initially were in Swedishbut now it’s time to take the music to an international audience. Nevertheless, the stroke of Nordic melancholy is still very much present and the new single carries a heavy yet important message.

An unspeakable family tragedy in the beginning of 2022 made vocalist Daniel Jakobsson numb, feeling like he would never be able to make music again. But the bass player and creative motor Taneli Tulkki kept sending demos, believing that the power of music at some point would give some energy in the crisis his bandmate and friend was going through.

  • Suddenly this song just broke through all my barriers. I felt this was a tool to tell something important. A story that needed to be told. I didn’t think I would be able to write music again, but this song wrote itself, says Jakobsson.

The song speaks about how we’ve built a world with impossible standards, an irresistible mirror wall that tells us how to be and what to strive for, and it’s impossible to live up to the fake ideals that we’re facing every day in feeds, commercials and TV series.

  • The youth of today are facing an enormous challenge just to figure out who they are and what their role is in this strange world. At some point the struggle can just be overwhelming and on a personal level I’ve seen the consequences and whatever we can do to change this is a necessity.

TANELI was born during the pandemic from the love of making music and the fear of creative lockdown.  Bass player Taneli Tulkki (Jessica Wolff), had a constant flow of musical ideas that needed to take form and when he met the vocalist Daniel Jakobsson (Superdiesel) the pieces came together.

  • The heart of our music making has always been about groove, rock and joy and this song is no different, even if the circumstances when it was made was very special, says Tulkki about the song.

When the Stars Begin to Fall will be the start of the journey of TANELI, a journey fed by the love of making music and the hope of making a change in this world even if it’s only by giving  someone a better Friday night with a kickass live performance. And that, my friends, is something that TANELI will deliver – at all times.

BAD WOLVES, the critically acclaimed and multi-platinum band, released their new single “The Body” today via Better Noise Music, along with a lyric video for the song. The track haunts the listener, talking about how far one must go to commit an unthinkable crime. It is the first new offering from the band’s upcoming EP, set for release this summer. They have been working on new music as they gear up to head out on the Rockzilla Tour with Papa Roach, Hollywood Undead and Falling In Reverse again, but this time with their new guitarist Max Karon. The second leg kicks off in East Providence, RI on July 27 and ends in Nashville, TN on August 31. They will also be touring Europe this fall, performing in Germany, Finland, and France, to name a few. See below for a full list of dates and visit HERE to catch them on tour. Listen and watch “The Body” HERE.

“When we were writing this song we had a goal of trying new things,” said drummer John Boecklin. “The slap bass and clavichord instantly was new territory for Bad Wolves. It feels good to know this track sounds like nothing we have ever done before. It’s a fun track that feels like a mix of Faith no more with a dash of Daft Punk. Enjoy!”

This May the band announced their new guitar player, stating, “It’s with great excitement that we announce our new permanent guitar player is Max Karon. The funny thing is that Max isn’t new to us, he started the band with founder John Boecklin in 2014 and was a major writer/player on all three Bad Wolves albums. Being a key ingredient to the Bad Wolves sound, this was a no-brainer decision. There is no other person on this earth that would be a better fit for Bad Wolves than Max.”

“Words can hardly express how thrilled and grateful I am for this opportunity, and how right it feels to be here,” shared Max. “Having been part of Bad Wolves since the very beginning, I’m so proud to be joining in full. It’s amazing how far this band has come, and I’m so excited and driven to see how far we can go. I’m looking forward to everything about this new chapter of my life. I’ll see you out there!”

This past May, Bad Wolves confirmed that they would be rejoining Papa Roach, Falling In Reverse, and Hollywood Undead on their North American tour this summer. Rock out with Bad Wolves in cities such as El Paso, TX and Milwaukee, WI. The band will also be in Europe this fall, touring with Volbeat, Napalm Death, and Skindred from October 15 to December 9, hitting cities such as Copenhagen, Madrid, and Vienna. All upcoming shows and ticket information can be found at: https://badwolvesnation.com/pages/tour.

“If Tomorrow Never Comes (featuring Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills),” which will appear on the soundtrack for THE RETALIATORS, a Better Noise Films production, out this fall, rose to the Top Five at rock radio this spring. The band previously premiered a new video for “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” the second single off of their acclaimed third album DEAR MONSTERS, and released their new EP If Tomorrow Never Comes in March. The EP’s title track “If Tomorrow Never Comes” quickly became a fan favorite track, and now both the original and remix collectively boast over 11 MILLION streams to date. The official music video includes footage from the film, offering a different look at what fans were shown in the original “If Tomorrow Never Comes” visual, in addition to performance footage of Spencer Charnas. Watch “If Tomorrow Never Comes (featuring Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills)” HERE.

GOTHMINISTER Releases Epic Music Video for Brand New Single ‘Pandemonium’

With his captivating debut ‘Gothic Electronic Anthems’ in 2003, GOTHMINISTER Bjørn Alexander Brem took the dark music scene by storm, unleashing a thunder of pitch-black magic. Powerful metal riffs march relentlessly arm in arm with huge orchestras and heavenly choirs, while the master himself reveals an astonishing range of vocal art: from the deepest gothic-dungeons up to the higher spheres of steaming rock. It’s the overwhelming combination of catchiness and darkness; a thrilling craft of composing within the marrow of gothic, industrial-metal and electronica, that became Gothminister’s trademarks ever since.

With tracks like “Devil” (Gothic Electronic Anthems 2003), “Monsters” (Empire of Dark Salvation 2005), “Darkside” (Happiness In Darkness 2008), “Liar” (Anima Inferna 2011), “Utopia” (Utopia 2013), the last single from the CD/DVD horror movie concept album which even reached the national finals of the Norwegian Eurovision contest, “Ich will alles” and “We are the ones who rule the world” which both entered the Top 10 of the German Alternative charts and brought thousands of fans together on a tour across Germany together with ASP, Gothminister has gotten a significant following all over the world through the years. Today, the Norwegian industrial metal act has suprised them with an epic music video for a brand new single!

“Pandemonium” takes us back to the new gothic era around 1880 AC, where we find the city and kingdom of Gothminister under attack from its own inhabitants. The old, mighty and evil king, played by Gothminister himself, faces chaos and uproar among his own. The band mastermind reveals:

“A lot of the scenes in the music video were recorded in an old gothic church, «Jakobs Culture Church» (Kulturkirken Jakob) in the city center of Oslo, Norway. The church was built in 1880 and in 1980 the bishop of Oslo wanted to tear it down. The church was saved and preeeved by the Directorate for Cultural Heritage, and is now home for rock and metal concerts every weekend.”“«Pandemonium» is one of the heaviest but also one of the longest songs Gothminister has ever released. We are excited to see what the fans think about this new sound. In a time where TikTok and other social media channels promotes music snippets lasting only a few seconds, we wanted to do the opposite by introducing the new album with a more than 5 and a half minute long opening track…”

One can be sure, the new Gothminister single creates a hunger for more, and a new album slated to be released on October 21, 2022 through AFM Records.

BEHIND YOUR FEAR Release Video for First Single ‘New Ways’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on July 2, 2022
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: BEHIND YOUR FEAR. Leave a comment

Twenty years after her work with the gothic metal band FLOWING TEARS, Stefanie Duchêne‘s iconic voice can finally be heard again on her band’s debut album BEHIND YOUR FEAR. Together with experienced musicians from a wide spectrum of metal (Victory, My Own Ghost, Crimson Moon), BEHIND YOUR FEAR manage to revive the spirit of gothic metal of the 90s and 2000s that was believed to be lost.

The first single from the upcoming album “Anthropocene” bears the catchy name “New Ways” and convinces with groovy-heavy as well as melodic parts that get under your skin. The song makes you think back to the music of the 90s by bands like Paradise Lost, Anathema, Katatonia and Co. The production easily plays along at major level, because none other than David Buballa, who has been at the mixing desk for bands such as Powerwolf, Crematory or Flowing Tears for decades, had his fingers in the pie here. This collaboration was so harmonious that David took over the bass for Behind Your Fear himself from the moment the recordings were made.

Watch the video below.

Order the debut album “Anthropocene” at https://behindyourfear.bandcamp.com/album/anthropocene

BEHIND YOUR FEARS are:
Stefanie (ex-FLOWING TEARS) – Vocals, Piano
Michael (VICTORY, MY OWN GHOST) – Drums
Moritz (HORN, CRIMSON MOON) – Guitar
David (ex-FLOWING TEARS, LEAVE) – Bass
T. (CRIMSON MOON) – Guitar, Keys
