“’Kintsugi’ is about the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by filling cracks with precious metals. We too can transform all ‘cracks’ – which represent both our weaknesses and the difficult times we sometimes are forced to face – into something that makes us stronger and more unique, without necessarily having to show fake perfection to the rest of the world. We are all human beings and, as such, we are not infallible”. – Chiara Tricarico, frontwoman & lyricist
Recorded by MOONLIGHT HAZE and mixed & mastered by Simone Mularoni at the renowned Domination Studio, “Animus” boasts the stunning performance of vocalist Chiara Tricarico and is graced by the amazing artwork and pictures of Beatrice Demori.
Known throughout the music world as a talented solid bass player for bands like Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, Journey, Ted Nugent and The Dead Daisies to name a few, MARCO MENDOZA has recorded a body of amazing music in his own right. But when his fourth effort in his own name, “New Direction”, hits the streets in September this year, it will be a very special beast of its own.
Working with world-class producer Soren Andersen, owner of Medley Studios in Copenhagen, dubbed by some as ‘the new Mutt Lange’, the partnership that has already produced the career-defining “Viva La Rock” 2017 album has created in “New Direction” another future masterpiece together.
As it often happens, demanding times produce special opportunities, and writing and recording amidst a pandemic was a trigger for Mendoza’s creativity.
With Andersen himself handling guitars and keyboards as a background for Mendoza’s top-class bass lines and superb vocals, Tommy Gentry (Gun) stepped in for guest guitar solos in selected tracks, while drumming duties were split between Morten Hellborn (Electric Guitars) and Allan Tschicaja (Pretty Maids). A super-team surrounding Marco. But then again, the bassist/vocalist is used to working with the best of the best, and wouldn’t have it any other way in what is clearly the tightest set of songs he has ever recorded in his own name.
“New Direction” will be released on digital, CD and LP (black and turquoise vinyls, each limited to 500 units) via Mighty Music on September 16th, 2022. Pre-orders available here.

Monterrey Mexico hard rock sister trio THE WARNING have revealed their anxiously awaited full-length debut album, ERROR, via LAVA/Republic Records. Listen to ERROR—HERE.
On the new album the band said, “ERROR is an album about how we perceive the world as a generation and how we experience things in this new age- Love, technology, social life, media, politics; losing our sense of humanity and everything in between.”
To celebrate the arrival of the record, the group just uncovered the music video for the hard-hitting and hypnotic new single and title track “ERROR”, which went liveon Facebook this past Friday. On the track the band said: “ERROR” is a song about technology coaxing humanity for control- slowly manipulating us into giving it more and more power over us as time goes by.” Once again, the girls reveal an intensely pummeling cinematic visual befitting of the powerhouse song itself. Watch the music video for “ERROR” HERE.
The album features seven never-before-heard songs and highlights the group’s deft balance of airtight thrash intensity, stadium-size hooks, and instantly relatable lyrics. Across the album, they examine the trials and tribulations of growing up in the 21st century. They confront technology, society, the generational gap, anxiety, suppression, and love head-on. It includes previously released fan favorites such as “DISCIPLE,” “CHOKE,” “ANIMOSITY,” “Z,” “EVOLVE,” and “MARTIRIO” in addition to the recently revealed “MONEY.” Beyond plugs from LoudWire and more, Guitar Girl Magazine hailed “MONEY” as “seismic.” Plus, it cracked the Top 30 at Active Rock Radio!

Swiss djent metal prodigy MYCELIA have just revealed a new music video “Towards the Melting Library / The Librarian and the Flock of Birds” for their latest single. The video was directed by Theo Benjamin, and it is the first of a two-part music video double feature which introduces the overarching storyline of the band’s new neon-soaked cybercrime concept album In A Late Country.
“This is the first of a two-part musical short film which tells the story of In A Late Country” says drummer Marc Trummer. “This video focuses on the friendship between protagonists Marvell and DiPrisco, as they search for the enigmatic Ava Kessler in a futuristic dystopia. Working with Theo was an absolute blast: Not only did we get to live out our childhood dreams of starring in an epic science fiction movie, but his artistic take on our album’s narrative gave us a whole new perspective on our own songs. The shoot itself was a pretty intense experience, the highlight of which was definitely setting up an impromptu Cyberpunk black market in a parking garage – while it felt like herding a bunch of cats at the time, we are really happy with the result.”
Mycelia’s upcoming release entitled In A Late Country is a fifteen song post-apocalyptic djent metal concept album which tells the story of a young man trying to find his lost girlfriend during a government-controlled evacuation program to deal with an overpopulated city. The vocals throughout the album are the lines from the characters in the story, sung as if they were playing out in real time. While every song on the album tells a bit of the overall storyline, the singles highlight the most pivotal twists and turns of the plot. “The Beginning of a Long Hangover” sets the stage for the concept album, introducing the main character Marvell. We discover he is accused of murdering his girlfriend and he asks his friend Di Prisco for help to find out what really happened to her. After discovering Ava was seen with the member of a terrorist organization called the Ultrahydraulists, the second single “Towards the Melting Library” has Marvell and Di Prisco attempt to communicate with the Ultrahydraulists through the librarian named Al-Kitab. After finding out that Ava wasn’t really killed, but she left the city as a part of the evacuation program, Marvell follows a lead by visiting an address. In the third single which is entitled “In A Gas Station at the Outskirts of the Meth Desert“, he discovers the police commissioner who admits that the evacuation program doesn’t exist after all, and it is actually a ruse to cover for a government-controlled genocide to reduce the ever-growing numbers of an already overpopulated city.

RIVERS OF NIHIL released The Work last Fall on Metal Blade Records. The band has never fit neatly into a box, but with 2018’s Where Owls Know My Name, they transcended all labels applied to them. Returning in 2021 with The Work, they’ve forged further into new territory, delivering an album that’s as cerebral as it is visceral, and that covers a staggering sonic range, definitively placing them in a category of their own. Inarguably a dense, heavy collection, The Work is far too dynamic to be considered a solely metal record and there is a genuine warmth that shows through, particularly tracks like “Wait” and the gorgeous “Maybe One Day.” Additionally, the band has incorporated far more clean vocals alongside the screaming that tears through many of the record’s heavier tracks. Courtesy of their friend Zach Strouse, saxophone once again adds extra layers of atmosphere to the collection, utilizing baritone, soprano, and alto saxes to great effect.
