HORIZON IGNITED Reveal Video for New Single ‘Beyond Your Reach’

The relentless sextet HORIZON IGNITED from Finland strikes again with another single from their upcoming album “Towards The Dying Lands”, to be released on July 1st via Nuclear Blast.

“Beyond Your Reach” bestows with its captivating, melodic guitars which drive you to a huge chorus, that makes this track a real anthem.

The single comes along with a music video, which was filmed in Ylöjärvi, Finland, under the direction of Tuomas Kurikka and Patrik Nuorteva of Riivata visuals.

Frontman Okko Solanterä comments on the single:
“Beyond Your Reach is about unity. Coming together to bring down tyranny and oppression. A little different subject for our lyrics but they fit the song very well!
The song itself is very energetic and empowering with its catchy melodies, so what did we do to bring a bit more darkness and punchiness to it?
We made a breakdown. First of its kind in this band but definitely not the last!
This is an anthem that we cannot wait to play live.”

The future of British metal lies in safe hands with CONJURER, who will release their long-awaited new album Páthos on 1st July 2022 via Nuclear Blast Records.

A triumphant return from CONJURER following their world-renowned 2018 debut Mire, Páthos is a band flexing their creative muscles, deepening their approach and thought, and expanding their sound.

Today, CONJURER deliver their breath-taking 3rd single ‘Cracks In The Pyre’.

CONJURER comment:
“Cracks is probably the biggest departure from our previously established sound – the working title was ‘Ballad’. For me this is the most affecting track on Páthos, I connect more with it on every listen, and I think it opens up a new element to the band’s identity that will be important moving forwards. The video reflects the themes of the track and was captured on the Scottish coast: the breathtaking landscapes evoke the atmosphere the song is trying to capture, and we’re blown away by the finished piece.”

PRE-ORDER OR PRE-SAVE Páthos & STREAM ‘Cracks In The Pyre’ HERE: https://conjurer.bfan.link/cracks-in-the-pyre.ema

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR ‘Cracks In The Pyre’ HERE:

Páthos is not an album for the half-hearted or faint-hearted. Elements of Sumac, Gojira, old Mastodon and Oathbreaker, the new record is a multi-layered beast – sludge, death, doom, black metal and hardcore influences clash and collide throughout, all masterfully finished by Will Putney’s exquisite mix and master.

The fifty-minute runtime of Páthos is not without its moments of the sublime, with post-metal nods to CONJURER and Pijn’s acclaimed Curse These Metal Hands project throughout. That a band can be at once so triumphantly beautiful and gut-punchingly heavy is testament to CONJURER’s quality, and a surefire sign of their future longevity at the top of Britain’s heavy music scene.

CONJURER have announced their Europe and UK headline tour of Páthos. Tickets onsale now via atonal.agency. Please find the dates below.

Tango Meets Metal – ERICK AVILA Release New Single ‘Por Una Cabeza’

One of Chile’s best-known metal guitarists in Finland, ERICK AVILA – Cold Scandinavian Metal meets hot Latin American rhythms in a new tango single ‘Por Una Cabeza’.

Listen to the song on music services.

Music by Carlos Garde
Lyrics by Alfredo Le Pera
Arrangements by Erick Avila, Tuomas Riihimäki, Aki Kontiokangas, Elias Koljonen
Recorded by Jori Saloranta, Tuomas Riihimäki and Erick Avila
Mixed by Javier Bassino
Mastered by Mika Jussila, Finnvox
Distributed by Playground Music Scandinavia

Erick Avila moved to Finland two years ago for the love of the local music scene and he is now building his new career there. Erick Avila is one of the best-known metal guitarists in Chile. He is also a composer, producer and for a long time he has been the leader of a Chilean metal band Six Magics.

Avila found a band bearing his own name with three Finnish musicians. The group is doing now something no one has ever done before – combining metal and the hot rhythms of Latin America such as the Chilean cueca, Brazilian bossanova and Cuban salsa.

Last year Erick Avila band released their first single ‘Songo‘, an energetic song that combines salsa and metal. Now the band presents its version of the legendary ‘Por Una Cabeza‘, a tango from Argentina. The passion of the Carlos Gardel tango meets the Nordic metal in this new version that has been born in Finland.

Avila’s former band Six Magics has toured also in Europe in addition to Latin America. They have headlined concerts for thousands of people and supported bands like Nightwish and Tarja Turunen. Avila has a vast fan base in Chile for over 20 years of career and he has been an inspiration source for many guitarists in the area.

Now the new band has gained great reception by Chilean and Finnish audience due to the cross cultural videos they published in social media showing how the project and music were born so far away from Chile and how the band leader, Avila himself blended into the Finnish culture.

Erick Avila – The band:
Erick Avila – guitar, vocals
Tuomas Riihimäki – keyboards
Aki Kontiokangas – bass
Elias Koljonen – drums

MOLDER Premiere New Single And Visualizer ‘Decomposed Embryos’

Chicago, IL death metal trio MOLDER are today premiering their new single, Decomposed Embryos, and an accompanying visualizer via Decibel. Decomposed Embryos is the second single to be taken from their upcoming sophomore album, Engrossed in Decay, and recounts a bone chilling and true tale of a malevolent Midwest abortionist.

LISTEN & WATCH DECOMPOSED EMBRYOS’ VISUALIZER VIA DECIBEL HERE.

Decomposed Embryos is available now via all streaming platforms.

Engrossed in Decay is due out via Prosthetic Records on July 15 – available to pre-order here.

Speaking on the album announcement and track premiere MOLDER comments:

“Decomposed Embryos is about Dr. Ulrich Kloper, a Midwestern abortionist accused of preserving well over 2,000 fetal remains. Shortly after his death, the remains were discovered inside the garage of his rural home in Will County, Illinois. 165 additional remains were later found located in the trunk of his vehicle.

“We chose Decomposed Embryos as a single for the simple fact that it’s straight to the point. It definitely stands out on the record as our “less is more” track. Fixating less on technical precision and overwhelming flashiness, and more on brutality, wrecking your neck, and quenching your thirst for gore.”

Conceptually, Engrossed in Decay collects the sonic aesthetics of in-song samples, death-obsessed lyrics, and colorful mucus and blood themes into a cohesively gross package. This is the type of gift found in medical waste repositories or in the aftermath of a kitchen knife rampage. One look at the cover illustrated by Lucas Korte (Blood Incantation, Tomb Mold), and MOLDER’s sordid intentions are immediately evident. This is blood-curdling, gore-hurling death metal from graves licentiously disturbed.

Recorded at Studio Novy with Cheyenne Brandt (Vanished Cadavers, and Chicago Metal Hell Vol 2), Cianide’s Scott Carroll joined the sessions as steward before the final mix went to Philadelphia-based mastering ace Arthur Rizk (Creeping Death, Temple of Void). The result is an engrossing experience, nasty to the touch yet riveting like a chainsaw battle. Glutinous Remains, Chemically Dissolved, Huff the Stench, and the title track are prime examples of MOLDER’s choicest, meatiest cuts.

The next phase of MOLDER’s depraved death metal domination will commence after Engrossed in Decay is unleashed upon metaldom. Until then, they’ll fester wildly in and around Chicago, with the rest of North America suffering perversely with a full-scale bloodbath later in 2022.

You’ve been warned! MOLDER are coming for you, their stomach-churning, mortifying corpses in full-on attack mode.

Engrossed in Decay tracklist:

1. Glutinous Remains
2. Engrossed in Decay
3. Relentless Pestilence
4. Chemically Dissolved
5. Disinhumed Carcass Revived
6. Huff the Stench
7. Unsubstantial Hallucinations
8. Ghastly Mutations
9. Decomposed Embryos
10. Cask of Maggots

WALTER TROUT Releases New Video for ‘Ride’

WALTER TROUT has revealed the official video for “Ride”, title track from his upcoming studio album, coming out on August 19th via Provogue Records/Mascot Label Group.

Pre-order Ride here: https://lnk.to/WalterTrout

You can watch the video here:

Listen to the previous single Ghost Here

Arriving on the US West Coast two weeks before sessions began, Trout settled to write the Ride material in his now-deserted house in Huntington Beach, California. But even in this beachside paradise, amongst the swaying palms and ocean breeze, the past came calling. As long-standing Trout fans know, the Golden State has been the bluesman’s home for 47 years.

In time, Trout joined John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers lineup in ’85, before embarking on an acclaimed solo career from ’89 onwards. But before that came his chaotic, self-destructive years as a jobbing lead guitarist, whether for revered-but-tricky blues pioneers like John Lee Hooker and Big Mama Thornton, or an unhinged tenure in an ’80s Canned Heat line-up controlled by the Hell’s Angels.

Trout’s well-documented excess in this era was darker than a young rock star cutting loose. It could all be traced back to his troubled childhood in New Jersey, he explains, where an unstable stepfather – himself the victim of shocking cruelty as a prisoner of war – was a terrifying presence. As Ride took form, such memories couldn’t help but flavour the music. “This album is obviously what I was going through mentally and emotionally,” he considers. “All I did was express it. I spent a lot of time crying, because I would dig down into my emotional core. I want my songs to have some sort of truth to them.”

Some memories that Trout examines on Ride are long-distant but eternally poignant. Try the deceptively upbeat title track, another song that began as a poem, recounting the locomotive that rattled past his childhood home each night and enticed him to freight-hop to freedom. “That song is about what it felt like to lay there in bed and dream about escaping on that train.”

The stormy Hey Mama takes inspiration from the same period, with Trout debating whether his trauma could have been averted. “I’m not pissed off with my mom and I love her memory,” he says, “but my wife says, ‘Your mom probably could have done more to protect you from your stepdad’. Yeah, maybe she could have. But it’s easy to say that looking back.”

Walter Trout is the beating heart of the modern blues rock scene. Respected by the old guard. Revered by the young guns. Adored by the fans who shake his hand after the show each night, and after five decades in the game, Trout remains a talismanic figure.

But, however fast or far a man travels, he can never truly outrun his past. On his new album he found himself eyeing the horizon and the green shoots of his triumphant late career. There was a new record deal with Mascot/Provogue. A move from California to Denmark with his beloved family. Even now, aged 70, Trout was still writing fresh chapters of his life story.

By now, Trout knows that nobody ever really leaves their old selves behind. But with Ride providing an emotional release-valve – both for its creator and his loyal listeners – perhaps this veteran artist can reconcile with his past, accept his future and live in the present as it unfolds. “I think you can interpret this album title a few different ways,” he concludes. “I mean, this album is definitely a musical ride and I certainly tried to cover a lot of ground. But, really, life is kind of a ride too, isn’t it? And I want to live mine to the fullest.”
