Icelandic Ambient Rock band KONTINUUM are now premiering their brand new song, “Hafið Logar!” The song can be heard at THIS LOCATION.

KONTINUUM comments:

“Continuing our works inspired by the sculptor Einar Jónsson, we bring you, Hafið Logar.

“The song grew from his statue ‘Mold (Earth),’ which depicts our final resting place in the arms of the earth. At the time of writing, we had a different war in mind. Iceland’s long-standing history of its fight against the sea.

“A brutal and ruthless enemy, we depended on for our survival.
Our journey is always destined to come to an end, right back where we started from.
But today, there’s a different meaning hiding in there.
Another time, another war, another villain.

“Ми знаходимо спосіб вижити. Ми боремося.”

“Hafið Logar” can be pre-saved on digital platforms HERE.

KONTINUUM‘s previous album ‘No Need to Reason’ was released in 2018 and can be listened to in full HERE.

KONTINUUM have the rare ability to create dark music that at the same time comes with an embracing warmth and emotional appeal. The Icelanders’ forthcoming third album, ‘No Need to Reason’ continues the thread spun on previous full-length ‘Kyrr’, but expands the possibilities and range of the band’s musical horizon.

Ambient, rock, wave influences and other stylistic sources of inspiration melt into a melancholic yet glittering masterpiece. Like the blue ice, black beaches and other spectacular landscapes of their North Atlantic home, ‘No Need to Reason’ keeps changing and shifting, while KONTINUUM seem to keep an underlying epic and mythical theme.

KONTINUUM were conceived with the declared aim to create hypnotic and spiritual musical noise in Reykjavik, Iceland in the year 2010. After sending demo tracks of their debut album ‘Earth Blood Magic’ to a few labels, a first deal was quickly struck. KONTINUUM wasted no time and entered SIGUR RÓS’ Sundlaugin Studio in the town of Mosfellsbær close to the Icelandic capital to record their first full-length, which was released in 2012.

‘Earth Blood Magic’ received rave reviews across the board and was voted rock album of the year in Morgunblaðið, Iceland. KONTINUUM followed up on their quick success and played numerous shows in 2013, which established their reputation as a powerful live band.

KONTINUUM released the first single of their next album, entitled “I Huldusal”, in 2014. This led to substantial radio play in Iceland and even topping the charts of the island’s largest alternative rock radio station.

Their sophomore full-length, ‘Kyrr’ hit the stores in April 2015 alongside new single, “Breathe”. Following the release of their second album, KONTINUUM embarked on two tours in Germany and performed at several festivals including the prestigious Roadburn Festival and Eurosonic Festival in the Netherlands, Germany’s Summer Breeze, Icelandic Airwaves and Eistnaflug Festival at home as well as Lithuania’s Devilstone Festival.

Now the Icelanders return with their amazing third album and the world firmly in their sight. ‘No Need to Reason’ is bound to turn KONTINUUM into a household name for friends of intelligent dark music. Press play, lean back, and enjoy!

Italian alternative metal band VIOLET BLEND just dropped their new full-length album Demons and revealed a new music video for the song “La Donna Mobile“, taken from Giuseppe Verdi’s  Rigoletto opera. In the video, Violet Blend are conducted by world-famous Maestra Gianna Fratta at the historic Teatro Verdi in Firenze, Italy.

“La Donna Mobile” is the fourth music video from the band’s new full-length album Demons, which was just released worldwide on April 1, 2022 via Eclipse Records. Aside from being a timeless classic originally written by Giuseppe Verdi, the song has been adopted as the theme of “La Donna Mobile – Campaign against gender discrimination and violence”, a non-profit project to promote equality, empowerment, education, and information, focused on the role of women in the world of work. The campaign is promoted by Violet Blend, with the patronage of Municipality of Florence, the Department of Equal Opportunities of Florence, the sponsorship of Teatro Verdi of Florence, Biblioteca Riccardiana of Florence and Viper Theatre of Florence, in support of AIDOS – Italian Association of Women for Development, that since 1981 has worked throughout the Italian territory for the rights, dignity and freedom of choices of women and girls in the world. Learn more about the campaign at this location.

“As a classical musicologist, I’ve always had to study and deal with music written by men, where women were always secondary characters with little to think or say,” says lead vocalist & composer Giada Celeste Chelli. “La Donna è Mobile is one of the most famous arias of 19th century Italian opera, but I realized that very few people really knew its meaning. It is misogynist and discriminatory, and even if it was written during the 19th century, I find it terribly current. We wanted to underline the importance and relevance of a reflection on the role of women, focusing on the world of work, where still today there is a dangerous and frightening gender gap. With this project, we wanted to gather and show the public the testimonies of these wonderful women that work and succeed in professions that are socially still linked only to men. We asked women to help us spread a message of gender equality and the women responded!”

Demons contains thirteen hard-rocking tracks that personify discontent, passion, beauty, and rage. The lyrical subject matter of the album explores the human soul by investigating its contradictions and ambitions. The album was produced by Alessandro Del Vecchio (Quiet Riot, LA Guns, Nanowar of Steel). Demons will be released worldwide via Eclipse Records on April 1, 2022. Singles from the album include the powerful debut “Rock DJ” which describes the primordial sense of joy and freedom that music transmits. The second single entitled “Among All These Fools”, is about asking the music to guide you through some wicked people that try to surround you and prevent you from reaching your goals. The third single “Need” is about a situation of great uncertainty, where you must decide if you should abandon the old life for a new one. The last single “La Donna Mobile” is part of a prominent social campaign to raise awareness against discrimination and gender-based violence, featuring AIDOS (Italian Association of Women for Development) and the Municipality of Florence, Italy. Altogether, Demons is an exciting record with something for everyone, from the superlative vocal to the rhythm-chops which seem to echo the true pulse of the world. Get ready to rock!

Chicago Heavy Rockers SOiL Honor Late TAYLOR HAWKINS with Cover of FOO FIGHTERS’ ‘Monkey Wrench’

As the music world continues to mourn the loss of Foo Fighters drummer and joyous soul who touched millions of lives, Taylor Hawkins, we are reminded that the sounds and experiences created by Hawkins and his fellow bandmates continue to live on and inspire new generations of music fans the world over. Today, Chicago’s own SOiL release a kinetic cover version of “Monkey Wrench,” the song that was, for many, their first introduction to the bleach blonde hurricane of arms and drumsticks that was Hawkins, who made his debut as the Foo’s skinman in the incredibly popular video for the song.

SOiL’s version of the track maintains the extreme high energy level of the song and offers a sneak preview of the band’s next full-length album. “So it’s time to let the cat out of the bag” SOiL states. “We completed an 11-song covers album in September of 2021 and have been delayed in releasing it due to vinyl manufacturing shortages. In that time we have experienced the tragic loss of Taylor Hawkins. On our upcoming album, we had proudly covered the Foo Fighters’ classic song ‘Monkey Wrench,’ which was an inspiration to us early on in our career. We had the pleasure to meet Taylor on several occasions and he was the most down to earth and genuine person one could imagine. He was such a fun person to be around. The world didn’t just lose one of its best drummers, it lost one of its great human beings as well. We’d like to release our version of ‘Monkey Wrench’ early to pay tribute to Taylor and the Foo Fighters. We hope it adds a little light in this dark time.”

SOiL drummer TJ Taylor added: “Taylor’s energy, talent, and unmistakable presence behind the drum kit was second to none. Nobody hit those skins harder but with such finesse. He had a smile that could be seen from the back of the stadium. You can see his pure joy and infectious enthusiasm behind the drum kit and microphone. He was the backbone and the heart of one of the greatest bands of this century. My heart goes out to his family and band. I hope they will find comfort during this difficult time. This is our tribute to Taylor, and to the Foo Fighters. RIP Taylor.”

BLACK STONE CHERRY Release New Video ‘Ringin’ In My Head’ & to Tour Europe in Autumn

BLACK STONE CHERRY and Mascot Records / Mascot Label Group present the official music video for “Ringin’ In My Head,” from the band’s most recent album THE HUMAN CONDITION. The album is a massive global success with over 43.5 million cumulative streams, with Ringin’ In My Head now approaching 3 million.  The official video was directed by Tom J. Flynn and Mike Watts (Vudu Studios) and can be screened below.

The clip was filmed on the Young family farm in Edmonton, KY. The location might be familiar to some viewers via the session for the Magic Mountain packaging and publicity portraits captured on the land, and most notably the Kentucky Headhunters’ video for “Walk Softly On This Heart Of Mine” which was filmed partially in the same barn forty years ago. To view, click here: https://youtu.be/PFJ0EfWgZ3c.

Chris Robertson shares, “In 2020, when The World seemed to be falling apart, an older song we had started a few years earlier struck a nerve with us.  Lyrically it seemed too close to the times not to try and make the song something special. The result is guaranteed to give you a Ringin’ in your head.”

On August 27, 2021, Black Stone Cherry and Mascot Records released an expanded edition of the band’s seventh studio album The Human Condition digitally.  Amongst the new recordings was a cover of Tracy Chapman’s classic “Give Me One Reason.”  The official music video can be screened here: https://youtu.be/kcOhH9CbPRc.  At the time, the band shared, “Tracy Chapman’s voice and songs are absolutely timeless. We have always been fans of her music, especially ‘Give Me One Reason’. Chris has always sounded so great singing this song, so we decided to record a quick version in the studio.”

The album was completed mere days before the COVID-19 lockdown was imposed and as events progressed, it became apparent that the album the Kentucky band were completing featured lyrics that were eerily prescient. At the time of the album announcement, drummer John Fred Young offered, “There was a real urgency and fear of the unknown during those sessions – it was a scary time.  Every song on this album tells a story of the experiences we all go through – our happiness, our struggles, and how we have to adapt.”

In September and October, the band will stage a tour of Europe:
12 Sep     E-Werk, Cologne – Germany
13 Sep     Q Factory, Amsterdam – Netherlands
