MOTOR SISTER Release Video ‘Coming For You’, New Album Out Now

MOTOR SISTER have released their highly anticipated new album Get Off, out now via Metal Blade Records. The band has also shared a new music video for “Coming For You,” directed and produced by Travis Shinn.

Get Off features recent singles “Right There, Just Like That” and “Can’t Get High Enough.” The album is available digitally as well as physically on digipak-CD, 180g black vinyl, crimson red w/blue smoke vinyl (US exclusive) and pale blue grey marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies). To stream / purchase, please visit: metalblade.com/motorsister

“Our first record “Ride” was a collection of songs we re-recorded from the band Mother Superior which was great, but I’m stoked that we had this chance to actually get into a room together and write this batch of all new material,” shares bassist Joey Vera. “We keep in mind where this band originated from but we get to take it to totally different levels.”

Vocalist/guitarist Jim Wilson adds: “We wanted to make a high energy, kick ass rock & roll record from top to bottom. All killer, no filler.“

Concludes guitarist Scott Ian: “Get Off is the best hard rock record since Appetite For Destruction.“

The band will be celebrating the release of the new album with a live performance at Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles on May, 15th. More information is available here. Fans can also catch Motor Sister at Welcome To Rockville in Daytona Beach, FL on May 22nd.

Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Jim Wilson (Mother Superior), guitarist Scott Ian (Anthrax), bassist Joey Vera (Armored Saint), drummer John Tempesta (White Zombie, The Cult) and vocalist Pearl Aday (Pearl), Motor Sister was originally formed as a Mother Superior covers band made up of diehard fans – and aided by sharing the same frontman – playing the songs for the love of doing so. Catching the attention of Metal Blade, the label offered to put out a record and the result was Ride (2015), a collection of live-in-the-studio takes cherry-picked from Mother Superior‘s back catalogue.

Now, they step beyond those parameters, returning with their second album, which is almost entirely brand new material. “The record of covers was already done, so there was no need to do it again,” says Aday. “We’re a bunch of songwriters with so much passion for the same kind of music, it just makes sense that we would make new music together, and it was easy as usual to follow Jim’s lead on this one. He was overflowing with songs and ideas so we all happily jumped right in.” Adds Wilson, “We definitely wanted to continue with the spirit of my old band and it’s not difficult really because everything Mother Superior did was done with heart and soul and I think soul is an important word. Not necessarily ‘soul music’ but the feeling that comes with it.“

The result is aptly described by Vera as “no bullshit hard rock and roll“, the record containing eleven originals and rounded out with a cover of Mother Superior‘s “Rolling Boy Blues”, which has been a live staple. Kicking off with the compulsive, high octane “Can’t Get High Enough” they immediately put the pedal to the metal, likewise on the pure rock n’ soul of “Bulletproof” and the swaggering “Excuse Me, Your Life Is Exposed”. They slow things down a little on the singalong glory of “Sooner Or Later” and the more plaintive “Pain”.

As with Ride, the band entrusted Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Steel Panther) with production, and this time headed into LA’s Studio 606. “It’s a great sounding room and we got to track on the Sound City Neve, which is perfect for our sound,” says Ian. “And some really cool people – who took great care of us – own it.” Also in common with its predecessor, Get Off was recorded live in the studio, with all five members in the same room, vocals and leads redone after the basic tracks were laid down, but tracking was interrupted mid-process by Covid-19. This put things on hold, resuming a year later as the band added the finishing touches to the record, but this interruption definitely did not harm the feelings of exuberance and spontaneity that bleed from the speakers. Now, the band are looking forward and excited to play these originals live alongside the covers they are known for, and with shows getting booked for 2022 it’s time for fans to lose their shit and get off to one of the greatest rock and roll bands operating today.

Get Off Tracklisting:

02. Coming for You

BEAST IN BLACK Release Lyric Video for Single ‘Broken Survivors’

On May 6th, 2021, the world of Japanese manga lost Kentaro Miura, one of their most important artists and the creator of the epic manga “Berserk”. “Berserk” has sold over 50 million books worldwide, making it one of the best selling manga series of all time.

For BEAST IN BLACK fans, it is no secret that mastermind and main songwriter Anton Kabanen drew his inspiration from “Berserk” and you can find these elements in every BEAST IN BLACK release.

Today marks one year since the untimely passing of Kentaro Miura.

Kabanen shares a few personal thoughts:
“We all hurt, we all break, we all feel sorrow and profound pain, for that’s the price of being fragile and delicate. But with this same fragility and delicacy we may open ourselves to kindness, gentleness, joy, understanding, empathy, caring, longing and love. I believe Kentaro Miura knew this very well, as he imbued his characters of Berserk with these qualities, and complex yet accessible emotional depths. He knew how to make hearts beat, and how to make souls resonate, because he could feel it. This is what made Berserk meaningful to me, and undoubtedly to many other devoted admirers as well. Hence we, Beast In Black, aimed to prepare something unique to encapsulate the warmer and gentler side of Kentaro’s humanly vulnerable characters. With eternal love and respect for Kentaro Miura, we proudly present you: BROKEN SURVIVORS!”

Check out the beautiful animated lyric video, honoring Kentaro Miura:

Unique Swedish rock band GAUPA are excited to announce that their sophomore album “Myriad” will be released on November 18th, 2022. The album features eight diverse and exquisitely crafted songs that keep strolling around between progressive rock, psychedelic & stoner rock, doom and folk. An eclectic and unpredictable, yet very mature record by a band that is destined to win over any open-minded music enthusiast from each branch the heavy rock spectrum has to offer. The pre-order for “Myriad” has started today!

To give you a first taste of what you can expect on the album, GAUPA have released a gorgeous video for its first single, “RA,” which you can watch below.

GAUPA – Myriad
Release Date: 13 November 2022

  2. Diametrical Enchantress
  3. Moloken

With surreal lyrics, an energetic, very unique singer, and an addictive sound that combines progressive stoner rock with doom, folk and psychedelic rock influences, GAUPA released their self-titled debut EP in June 2018 and have since made a name for themselves in the international underground rock scene. The “GAUPA” EP was well received and led to the band playing one of their first live performances at Scandinavia’s biggest rock festival, Sweden Rock. GAUPA then got a chance to release the EP on vinyl via German label Kozmik Artifactz in October 2019 and went on to playing a good number of shows and festivals. Critics were impressed not only by the studio recordings and their diverse & complex arrangements, but also by the level of intensity the band displayed live.

In April 2020 GAUPA, which means “lynx” in Swedish dialect, followed up their debut EP by releasing their first full length album, “Feberdröm,” gaining even more attention from both, an international audience as well as the world’s biggest metal label: NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS. Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R at Nuclear Blast Records Europe stated: “While most newcomer bands struggled during the Corona pandemic, GAUPA managed to grow in quality. Their unique sound hasn’t remained unnoticed and word of mouth spread fast. Once we had seen their live stream show and had some video conferences, we knew they would sit well in an artist roster that contains some of their favourite bands, even if GAUPA isn’t very metal at all. But it’s that attitude to tear down boundaries between genres – just for the sake of art. We are proud to welcome them in good company.”

In 2021 GAUPA re-entered the studio to record their second full-length album “Myriad,” which will be relased on November 18, 2022. GAUPA are currently focussing on the Swedish festival Summer 2022, but they are already working with great excitement on tours that will bring them to new venues all over the world.

IBARAKI Unleash “Rashomon” Album & Share ‘Kagutsuchi’ Video

Trivium singer and guitarist Matthew Kiichi Heafy has released Rashomon, the long-awaited and much-anticipated album from his IBARAKI project today, May 6, via Nuclear Blast.

Get Rashomon, selected by Revolver as one the most anticipated releases of 2022, on CD, vinyl, cassette, and T-Shirt + CD bundle here: https://www.ibarakiband.com/rashomon

Listen to the album on all streaming platforms here: https://ibaraki.bfan.link/rashomon

Ibaraki have also shared the “Kagutsuchi” video. Watch it here:

The song is a very important one in the project’s history.

“‘Kagutsuchi’ is the turning point in my relationship to black metal,” says Kiichi. “Before crafting this piece, I believed I needed to stick to all the tropes of tradition — I didn’t believe that I was able to attach my name to keep something legitimately black metal.”

He continues, “Befriending Ihsahn and having him as a mentor showed me that being true to oneself is far more important than being true to a genre. Ihsahn freed my mind and encouraged the sharpening of the tools needed to begin Ibaraki properly.”

Kiichi finishes, “The very recorded guitar tracks in this final album are actually from 2010/2011. This album is an auditory time-capsule of my journey in creating Ibaraki. ‘Kagutsuchi’ was the first song I wrote after I had begun my tutelage under Ihsahn.”

“Kagutsuchi” features a guest bass solo by Trivium’s Paolo Gregoletto.

ÆON SPOKE (Ft. Paul Masvidal) Release Debut Album Digitally, Share Music Video ‘Emmanuel’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 7, 2022
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: ÆON SPOKE, Paul Masvidal. Leave a comment

To celebrate the Bandcamp Friday, post rock band ÆON SPOKE released their debut album digitally! A vinyl counterpart will be released at a later date by Season of Mist – more info to be revealed soon! In the meantime, the record can be streamed and downloaded exclusively via Bandcamp at THIS LOCATION.

In conjunction, the band is now sharing a music video for the song “Emmanuel.” “Emmanuel” is the song highlighted at a crucial, dramatic moment in the remarkable film ‘What the Bleep Do We Know?’ starring Marlee Matlin, and contains interviews with Joe Dispenza, John Hagelin among many other notable thinkers. The film was a smash hit in the states, and the DVD release sold over a million units, which included a special edit of the “Emmanuel” video, featuring scenes from the film along with the band performing. The song and video can be found at THIS LOCATION.

“I think these are some of the best songs I’ve ever written,” says guitarist Paul Masvidal of post-rock band ÆON SPOKE, who formed after CYNIC‘s first breakup in 2004. Masvidal is a founding member of progressive metal pioneers and the highly influential Season of Mist group, CYNIC, and was also a member of the legendary band, DEATH on their best-selling and seminal record, Human. Rolling Stone magazine listed the album as one of the greatest metal albums of all time.

ÆON SPOKE’s album contains three bonus songs from the original independently released album ‘Above the Buried Cry’ and ten tracks from SPV Records original 2007 release. Masvidal continues, “I took this record offline after Sean Reinert died. It was too much for me in the wake of everything that happened and I felt too raw to keep the music out there. I needed to bring it closer to home as one of the precious things we shared when we first got back together.”

“Lyrically the record explores the depths of spiritual isolation that underlies the human condition,” explains lead singer and lyricist Paul Masvidal. Paul had worked as a caretaker for the dying while writing the songs for this record, doing music therapy for transplant patients and other critically ill people. “I came to find out what was most important about living through working with the dying.”

The album features guest appearances by:
Rex Brown (Pantera, Down, Cavalera Conspiracy)
Paul Hepker, Academy Award winning film and TV composer (Tsotsi)
R.Walt Vincent (Cynic, Liz Phair, James Blunt, Pete Yorn)
Evan Slamka (Marjorie Fair)
Chris Tristram (House of Lords, Marjorie Fair)
Chris Kringel (Cynic, Portal)
