On August 6, 2021, three-time Grammy-nominated hard rock heavyweights and platinum-selling band Killswitch Engage unleashed a streaming event that took fans by storm. The event took place at The Palladium in Worcester in the band’s native Massachusetts, which has been the site of many iconic KsE shows throughout the band’s history. The performance setlist consists of 2019’s Atonement in full, along with their 2000-released, self-titled debut album in full – with some fun and unexpected surprises along the way! This special event was directed by David Brodsky and Allison Woest for MyGoodEye.

This compelling performance will be available for the first time digitally, on 2 LP, and 2 CD/BR on June 3 via Metal Blade. Pre-order here: metalblade.com/killswitchengage

Today, the band has shared the video for “Vide Infra” from the 2000 self-titled release. Watch it here:

“This song has stood the test of time for me, sonically and lyrically,” says singer Jesse Leach. “Sonically, it shows our hardcore roots and the blend of metal. Lyrically, it has words I still stand by and hold close to my beliefs. It’s one of my favorites from our early material!“

CULT OF LUNA Transform Music Video Into Gaming Experience

For more than two decades, CULT OF LUNA have forged a sound that has grown incomparable to that of others. Ambitious, epic, visceral, drenched in emotion, and long regarded as one of Sweden’s premiere metal acts, Cult of Luna has a storied career with nine studio albums to their name, countless tours spanning the globe, and a win for “Best Metal Band of the Year” in Sweden, the band returned in 2022 with ‘The Long Road North‘. Now, they’re releasing an interactive gaming experience for the music video “Cold Burn”.

Instead of a traditional music video, Cult of Luna creates an immersive audiovisual experience in collaboration with creative agency North Kingdom / NoA, where innovation and storytelling stand at their core.

The player’s mission is to help a “lost light” to escape the darkness, and to find its way home through a dystopian maze. The player can also gather other lights and bring them to The Mother Light, at the center of the maze.

The single has been rebuilt in the real-time tool Unreal Engine, to dynamically adapt to how the player navigates the gaming experience’s world. This makes each experience unique in the dynamic version.

The gaming experience can be found on Steam and is created by Swedish creative agency North Kingdom / NoA, with long-running experience of collaborating with gaming and tech companies such as EA, Riot Games, and Google.

“For as long as we have known Linus Johansson of North Kingdom, which spans from the Leave me here video in 2004, he’s always tried to push interactivity and blur the line between the artist and the art. So it came as no surprise to us when he suggested making a video game out of the Cold burn video. “Go right ahead,” we said and now we are as intrigued by the result as we hope you are,” Johannes Persson of Cult of Luna comments.

WAKE Reveal Details for New Album “Thought Form Descent”

On July 22nd, Canada’s WAKE will release their sixth full-length, Thought Form Descent, via Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the album, a new video for the single “Swallow the Light” (directed by Michael Jari Davidson//@MJD_DOP) can be viewed at: metalblade.com/wake – where Thought Form Descent can also be pre-ordered in various formats.

Never a band interested in repeating themselves, WAKE has evolved with every release. 2020’s Devouring Ruin made this clearer than ever, hammering the point home with the Confluence EP in the same year, and now they return with Thought Form Descent – their most dynamic, diverse and emotional release to date. “I’d describe the record as a place to reconsider what ‘extreme’ means. The words ‘brutal’, ‘crushing’, ‘devastating’ are overused adjectives for extreme music. We wanted to force people to confront the idea that ‘brutal’ or ‘extreme’ ideas aren’t just blastbeats or angular tritones, or, more importantly, ‘brutal’ elements alongside pointedly passive elements can create their own experience that can channel both and neither.” The result is eight nuanced tracks that run the gamut from relentlessly heavy to exquisitely beautiful – often simultaneously – and instantly grab hold of the listener, demanding their full attention. However, at the same time, they are lushly textured and densely layered, and offer more with every subsequent exposure, unfurling to show hidden depths, and taking WAKE to a whole new level.

To track the album, the band once again collaborated with Dave Otero (Allegaeon, Cattle Decapitation) at Flatline Audio in Denver, CO. “Dave is someone who does something we love – supersedes what people think of him. Sure, he recorded many successful death metal albums, but his ability to understand pop music and its composition, his knowledge of music theory and his willingness to get right into the movement of a song and its chord progressions, not just the riffs, are things that go way beyond ‘death metal’. He can make hard right turns into wildly different sonic territory without batting an eyelash, and he always has an idea during the deviation, too. He contributed a lot to this record.” Having prepared exhaustively in advance, once in the studio the band were able to try new things, play with ideas and rearrange songs, having the time to go down the proverbial rabbit hole and see where it took them. Kevin Hufnagel of Gorguts also makes an appearance, playing guitar on “Pareidolia” and “Observer To Master”, the latter track one of the most melodic on the record.

Thought Form Descent track-listing:
01. Infinite Inward
02. Swallow the Light
03. Mourning Dirge (Repose of the Dead)
04. Pareidolia (feat. Kevin Hufnagel of Gorguts)
05. Venerate (The Undoing of All)
06. Observer to Master (feat. Kevin Hufnagel of Gorguts)
07. Bleeding Eyes of the Watcher
08. The Translation of Deaths

At the end of 2021, POWERWOLF – the most successful German metal band to date – fascinated with a streaming event of unprecedented dimensions. Those who thought they had seen everything in the live sector were instantly proven wrong with unmatched audio production and visuals that can only be described as simply breathtaking. From battles with clergy to stories of nuns, monks and burning angels, cinematic images immediately capture the viewer.

FOUR STROKE BARON have today released a video for the track Prostitute Part II: Pretty Woman (Makes Money) taken from their third full length album, Classics. The Reno, NV duo recently confirmed a European tour starting in September supporting VOLA, alongside Voyager. Watch the video below.

CLASSICS IS AVAILABLE TO ORDER HERE

Listen to Classics via Spotify | Apple Music | Deezer | Bandcamp

Mixed by Devin Townsend, their 2021 album features ten tracks brimming with catchy riffs and unforgettable choruses –  in other words, classics. Having streamlined into a duo, Kirk Witt and Matt Vallarino cast a sardonic eye over the human condition on Classics – as seen through their own uniquely distorted lens. They are our guides as we traverse the filthiest folds in the dark underbelly of Reno, Nevada; illuminating the darkest corners of their twisted psyches with their upbeat and insanely catchy pop hooks.

Upon the release of Classics, FOUR STROKE BARON hit the road in North America with Sarah Longfield; now they’re setting their sights on Europe with a string of dates that will take them through Germany, Poland, the UK, France and more.
