Quinn Gardener-Kane is best known as the charismatic singer of Australian funk/hard rock band, DEFRYME. He recently returned with a new project THE BLACK SKELETON and released the killer single ‘The Ledge’, and has now backed it up with new track ‘All Around Me’, which is out now on all digital platforms via Golden Robot Records.

Quinn Gardener-Kane has been making what started as a fun journey of writing and recording with other super creative friends, into an emotive rock ‘n roll beast all of its own. 

The Black Skeleton is a window to the inner thoughts and stories of Quinn’s life experiences; some dark and haunting, but always personal. The themes and depth of this collection of songs will resonate, provoke and have a different point of resonation with each listen.  

Quinn has sought after and secured some of Australia’s most accomplished musicians to assist in the final recordings, and form the live band to showcase these amazing, kick ass songs. 

GENERATION STEEL Sign with El Puerto Records, New Album Coming in Early Summer 2023

German metallers GENERATION STEEL have signed a worldwide deal with El Puerto Records! The follow-up to their debut “The Eagle Will Rise” is announced for early summer 2023.

Bandleader Jack the Riffer explains: “We anchor in a new harbor and are proud to join EL PUERTO RECORDS. We are looking forward to work with a dedicated and capable team that believes in our music and takes us to the next level!”

GENERATION STEEL stands for heavy metal with an anthem character, true to the tradition of Teutonic steel metal. The history of GENERATION STEEL is characterized by power and passion and begins in 2019. The former DEAD MAN’S HAND and BULLET TRAIN guitarist Jack The Riffer succeeds in winning four excellent musicians and thus giving new impulses to Teutonic heavy metal, including Michael Kaspar ( ex-SQUEALER) on bass.
The band’s artistic producer is none other than Uwe Lulis (ACCEPT).

Gunshine is a rock n roll band hailing from Pensacola, FL. PUPIL SLICER Premiere Video for New Track ‘Thermal Runaway’, Feat. Cara Drolshagen

PUPIL SLICER have shared a music video for new single, Thermal Runaway, via Kerrang! The track – which features Cara Drolshagen from The Armed on guest vocals – premiered via the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show this past Sunday. Thermal Runaway will be released as a digital single this Thursday, February 3  – ahead of PUPIL SLICER‘s first live show in over two years. The digital single also features remixes of Wounds Upon My Skin – a track from debut album, Mirrors – by Nadja, and Marble Girl.

Of the track, vocalist/guitarist Katie comments: 
“The idea behind the track was to capture the experience of being in a catastrophising cycle of anxiety and depression that keeps getting worse no matter what you do, through metaphors of thermal runaway that occurs in stars which leads to supernovas.”

Of Cara’s contributions they continue: 
“We are huge fans of The Armed and really love Cara’s vocal work with them. I wrote the track with Cara in mind and approached her with the title and some general themes already established. She took the ball from there and laid down her vocal parts which established the fantastic core lyrical drive on the chorus which I then expanded.”

Cara adds: “It’s pretty incredible what you can do creatively now even being miles apart. We had such a great time collaborating on this song. Pupil Slicer were amazing to work with and really gave me the chance to mould my style with theirs in a really unique way.”

Timed to coincide with their first live shows since 2019, Thermal Runaway retains the hallmarks of Mirrors’ grinding mathcore, but gives a clear indicator of the direction that PUPIL SLICER are moving towards. With writing well underway for their sophomore album, Thermal Runaway stood out as track that warranted immediate attention. PUPIL SLICER enlisted the talents of producer Lewis Johns (Employed To Serve, Blanket, Svalbard) at The Ranch studio in Southampton, The track features guitarist Frank Muir, who will also be joining the band on their upcoming live dates.

OH HIROSHIMA Share New Music Video for Epic Single ‘All Things Pass’

March 4, 2022 will see Swedish post-rock duo OH HIROSHIMA release their haunting fourth studio album, Myriad, via Napalm Records. Following their latest magnum opus, Oscillation (2019), and due to pandemic lockdowns, the band channeled all of their time and creativity into delivering an epic successor. It’s that mixture of emotions – from infinite sadness to moments of clarity and heart-rending melodies blending into a rumbling volcano of aesthetic noise and ferocious power, but also the unique use of trumpets, cello and trombones throughout – that sees OH HIROSHIMA outclass and grow renowned not only in post-rock circles, but beyond.

The mournful key-based intro of their brand new single, “All Things Pass”, leads into the darkest, bleakest facets of OH HIROSHIMA’s epic sonic universe, while its glistening guitar lines and the otherworldly voice of Jakob Hemström match the imposing melancholy of the track and throughout the record. Says Jakob Hemström:                
“‘All Things Pass’ is a song about the constant flow of time and an embracing of the endless chain of changes it brings. We thought it would be nice to have a song with a clear chorus on Myriad, as that’s something we haven’t really had in the past, and we think this one did the trick. The video was once again directed by the band and filmed and edited by our drummer, Oskar.”

Upon becoming a duo due to former bassist Simon Forsberg departing the band in early 2021, OH HIROSHIMA were provided a challenging chance to step up their songwriting game. There is still a hefty dose of post-rock to be heard on Myriad, but brothers Jakob Hemström and Oskar Nilsson managed to kick down the creative walls of the band, making use of a much broader musical palette.

Recorded by Kristian Karlsson (pg.lost, Cult Of Luna), and once again mixed and mastered by Cult Of Luna’s Magnus Lindberg, with Myriad, OH HIROSHIMA demonstrate outstanding ability – melding captivating melody with epic, fulminating fervency, and delivering a majestic masterpiece that will undoubtedly be an early album of the year contender!

ANCIENT SETTLERS Release New Single + Video ‘Cast in Gold’

‘Cast in Gold’ is the 3rd single from international technical modern melodic death metal outfit ANCIENT SETTLERS. Here, the power of the band turns to a set of spiritual melodies and speed. Sonically, the track starts with a modern synthesizer, before moving into catchy guitar riffs with plenty of harmonies, accompanied by a cohesive drums section, rumbling bass guitar and deep, clean vocals.

‘Cast in Gold’ is out now digitally across all platforms through Crusader Records, along with an accompanying video. It is the follow up to recent singles ‘Into The Depths I Ride’ and ‘Library Of Tears’, and was also produced by the legendary Fredrik Nordstrom.

ANCIENT SETTLERS was founded in 2020 by Carlos Chiesa-Estomba & Herman Riera (former Haboryn), Rene González (former Aesthesis), Emmy Reyes (Blackbeer, former Gamalyel), and Antony Hämäläinen (Meridian Dawn, former Nightrage & Armageddon), a group of musicians with more than fifteen-years of experience in the European and American metal circuit.

The band started their journey with the intention to explore the frontiers of modern melodic death metal, including catchy guitar riffs, the use of synths & keyboards, and a variety of different sounds and rhythms, trying to develop their own music personality.  

From a lyrical point, the band gets inspired by the recent tragedies that affect the earth and human race. They try to spread their message over all those who want to listen.   

Despite this, the band needed to modify their starting plans, due to the pandemic outbreak. They pushed ahead and in January of 2021, the band released their first digital single ‘Diamond Eyes’, along-side a limited edition 7″ vinyl. The following February, the band released their debut album Autumnus. Both were recorded in Portugal, France, Spain and the USA, and requested the service of Daniel Cardoso (Anathema, Anneke Van Grisbergen) to mix & master the album, as well as Gus “Perkele” Sazes (Angra, Kamelot, Gus G, Firewind, Arch Enemy) to design the artworks. 

In April 2021, Miguel Herrera joined the band as a full-time bass player. The band started to develop a live-session tour, including venues throughout Portugal, France and Spain.  

Ancient Settlers have just signed to Crusader Records to release their killer 10–song album, produced by worldwide Grammy awarded Fredrik Nordstrom.
