THROUGH THE NOISE Reveal Music Video ‘Aktaion’, New EP Drops January 21st

Swedish post-hardcore metallers THROUGH THE NOISE are back and they have just revealed a music video for their new single “Aktaion“, as well as announcing the availability of pre-orders for their upcoming sophomore EP Tragedies. “Aktaion” is the first single from the band’s new EP which will be released worldwide on January 21, 2022. The music video was directed by Tobias Ohlsson at Night Owl Vision. Watch it right now at this location.

“When we wrote Aktaion, we immediately felt that this song would be an easy decision to highlight for this release,” says vocalist Jowl Nyberg. “In the video, a man escapes a dystopian world for his happy place in virtual reality, but things turn ugly. Since the song obviously was inspired by the Greek myth of Aktaion, there are some elements in the music video which relate to the story, but we’ll let the fans make their own interpretation.” Bassist Martin Lingonblad adds, “We have worked with director Tobias Ohlsson many times now, and he somehow always makes our wild ideas work. He knows how to get us all to do our best for the benefit of the end result. He literally had us spend a whole day making it look like a parked car is moving in the night, with artificial rainfall and streetlights passing by in the background. It was a sight to see, with tarps and garden hoses and people rocking the car back and forth… it turned out great!”

Tragedies is a three-song EP written and recorded by the band while working on their upcoming full-length album which will be released sometime in 2022. During the pandemic the band worked hard on new material and were prolific with their songwriting. When they looked at all the songs they had been writing, they decided to release the three influenced by Greek mythos as an EP and keep the remainder for their upcoming album release. “We just wanted to get something out to the fans quickly since Dualism was released (what seems like a lifetime ago) back in 2019. We didn’t want people to have to wait until mid-2022 when everything else was finished” says guitarist Marcus Skantz.

All three songs on Tragedies were influenced by and named after the characters of classic Greek myths. “Tantalus” is an interpretation of the classic myth of Tantalus and Tantalean punishments when one has good things but are not allowed to enjoy them. “Aktaion” is a classic grass is always greener on the other side of the fence story about venturing into the unknown and suffering horrible consequences. Aktaion was a skillful hunter and follower of Artemis, goddess of hunting and chastity. One day he wanders into a forbidden forest and stumbled upon a naked Artemis bathing in a pond. She is filled with rage and transforms Artemis into a stag (only his mind remains human) and when he tries to run away, his hunting hounds chase him down and tear him apart into pieces. The final track “Lamia” is an interpretation of the classic, Greek myth about a woman driven insane by horrible grief due to the loss of her children, which turned her into a child-devouring monstrosity.

FOZZY Announce New Album “Boombox”, Out April 15th

Powerhouse rockers FOZZY have announced their new album BOOMBOX – their first album in five years – which will be released on 15th April via Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group (ex-US). The album, which includes the US top 10 singles, “Nowhere to Run and “Sane”, was once again produced by Johnny Andrews.

The announcement celebrates the sold-out UK tour that the band are current finishing up with three dates remaining: Tonight at Sin City, Swansea then onto the Rescue Rooms, Nottingham on Saturday 11th and ending in London’s O2 Islington Academy on Sunday 12th December.

Talking about the album, FOZZY frontman Chris Jericho says; “Judas…both the album and the song was a HUGE breakthrough for FOZZY.  It took us to the next level and positioned us as legit players at rock radio and as a live draw.  As a result, we knew that we had to follow up with the album of a lifetime. BOOMBOX is that album!!  You’ve already heard the top ten singles “Nowhere To Run” and “Sane”- kick ass, hooky songs that set the tone for this record.   But it’s, “I Still Burn”, “Army Of One” and “Relax”, that in my opinion are going to take this album and this band even further up the rock n roll ladder!”

“I firmly believe this is the third best album of our entire career!!  (Of course I think it’s our best…but I always wanted to hear a band say that). So crank the volume and hold the BOOMBOX up to your earholes!!  It’s gonna be a wild ride,” he adds.

After touring the world with the likes of Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Iron Maiden, Slash, & Shinedown and building a loyal fanbase for the better part of twenty years, Fozzy is the epitome of what a great rock n roll band should be: catchy, groovy, hooky, sweaty and most importantly, an AWESOME F**KIN TIME!

With six consecutive TOP 30 singles, Fozzy is steadily becoming one of the most successful bands on Modern Rock Radio. It was the band’s 2012 release Sin And Bones, which featured the hit single “Sandpaper” (over 4.5 million views on YouTube), that found the band reaching a level of legitimacy that drew a mass audience to drink in their trademark heavy melodic groove. Their next album, Do You Wanna Start A War (produced by Ward), released in the summer of 2014, really blew the doors open, debuting at #54 on Billboard and giving the band their first top 30 radio single in “Lights Go Out”, which was blared in sports arenas nationwide. Then, in May 2017, came the band’s breakthrough massive smash hit “Judas”, which is expected to achieve Gold Record status by the end of 2021. The aforementioned title track spent 5 weeks at #1 on the highly influential ‘Big Uns Countdown‘ on Sirius/ XM’s Octane channel, amassed over 53 million views for its video on YouTube, cracked the Top 5 on the US Rock Radio Chart and is heard by millions of fans worldwide weekly on TNT Network’s hugely popular “AEW Dynamite” program. The follow up single “Painless” hit number 9 on the charts (over 10 million views on YouTube) with “Burn Me Out” peaking at number 18. With the forthcoming release of BOOMBOX and the top 10 radio success of “Nowhere To Run” and “Sane”, Fozzy is sure to build on their already impressive rock radio legacy.

Rich Ward leads the band and is one of the most versatile, talented riff machines & songwriters in rock n roll today. Chris Jericho’s skills as a frontman are second to none and his vocal style & range are both unique and instantly recognizable. The powerhouse drumming of Frank Fontsere, the blazing solos of Billy Grey and the electric star presence of bass player, PJ Farley, round out the current line up.

These are five legit rock stars, whose energy and charisma light up every stage they play on and every crowd they perform for. It’s no surprise that Fozzy has skyrocketed into one of the hottest rock acts in years.

Fozzy have also just announced their Save The World Tour 2022 US leg.  The band’s headlining tour, featuring special guests GFM, KrashKarma, and The Nocturnal Affair, starts on March 31st in Detroit, MI and wraps on May 16th in Sauget, IL. Tickets are available to purchase, HERE.

Fozzy is Chris Jericho (vocals), Rich Ward (guitars, vocals), Frank Fontsere (drums), Billy Grey (guitars) and PJ Farley (bass).

MORTUARY DRAPE to Release Wisdom-Vibration-Repent Mini Album on February 11th

Cult band MORTUARY DRAPE was formed in Italy in 1986 as a trio, by the visionary Wildness Perversion. Highly inspired by the dark arts & combining early influences from bands such as Mercyful Fate & Celtic Frost, Mortuary Drape developed their own unique style, defining themselves as black occult metal & releasing the demo Necromancy in 1987 which spread their name throughout the underground; though it was not until 1992 that their first official release surfaced, with Into the Drape. This was followed by the debut full-length album, the classic All the Witches Dance in 1994. Since then Mortuary Drape has been revered for their influential and pioneering work in the firm establishment of global black metal which took hold in the early 90s.

The band’s new 5 track mini album entitled Wisdom – Vibration – Repent span occultism, philosophy & blasphemy including a storming cover of the Mercyful Fate track, ‘Nightmare Be Thy Name’. Mixing the best elements of classic metal and at times doomier influences into a venomous concoction of occultic misanthropy, the Italian legends deliver once more with their accomplished old school black metal delivery and signature melodic style.

The cover art for Wisdom – Vibration – Repent appears courtesy of Misanthropic Art.

VRSTY Share New Song ‘Closer’

New York City-based collective VRSTY (pronounced “Varsity“) — Joey Varela [vocals], Javy Dorrejo [bass], Chris Cody [drums], and Paul Gregory [guitar] — have shared the new song “Closer.” Listen here.

The song will appear on VRSTY’s new album Welcome Home, out January 21. Pre-order it here. Please note the release date has changed.

“Closer” is another banger from the band, with thunderous riffs led by Varela’s smooth, R&B-inspired vocal styles and unshakeable melodies. The song explores the notion of wanting to get to know that person you meet and can’t get out of your head.

“‘Closer’ literally came out of nowhere,” Varela recalls. “It started as just a fun idea to get our creative juices flowing in the studio and ended up becoming its own thing. It’s definitely one of the more different songs on the record. Lyrics-wise, it’s also one of the easiest songs to connect to — if you’re an adult, that is!”

Welcome Home is the band’s debut full length for the label and follows last year’s breakthrough Cloud City EP, which has accumulated six million streams in less than a year and yielded the head-turning singles “Shameless” and “Massive.” The latter was the most played on SiriusXM’s Octane for two weeks in a row in late 2020. VRSTY have perfected their seamless and fearless cross-pollination of metallic grooves and R&B-influenced, after midnight vocal swagger on this 14-track offering. VRSTY aren’t just offering their own take on a genre; they have authored a fusion style that is entirely their own.

“Welcome Home is an incredibly personal album to me,” Varela shares. “I know everybody says that, and hey, maybe they’re not lying when they do. I sure as hell am not. It was definitely a task, at first, trying to figure out how to phrase or sing something without getting too personal. But somewhere along the way, I threw that idea out the window and decided to say exactly what I felt. You won’t find me trying to sound cool or using any fancy wordplay. It’s just me in my rawest form, saying exactly what I’ve felt or experienced over the years, which is what has made me who I am today. I think if anybody ever wants to get to know me, this record will give you everything you need to know. No secrets. Just me.”

WELCOME HOME TRACK LISTING:
 “Finesse” (Feat. Notions)
“Soul“
“Closer”
“Sick“
“Paranoid”
“Never Again”
“We, Always”
“Welcome Home”
“Love Sick”
“Hush”
“King of Pop”
“Gravity”
“Only Sad”
“11 a.m.”

SHAKE THE TEMPLE Release New Official Video For ‘The Devil’s Approach’

Melbourne’s finest, SHAKE THE TEMPLE, have released a second official video from their recent full-length release, the self-titled Shake The Temple. The track is called The Devil’s Approach and is accompanied with with a horror inflected video in vintage black and white.

The official statement says; “A cinematic, movie-like setting in a maze of giant timber pillars, the video conjures up memories of 70’s horror and vintage metal that speaks volumes about this new band. It truly is a credit to this trio for bringing such theatre so rarely seen in music videos these days – especially for a band hailing from a usually restrained local rock scene.

According to lead singer John Joseph, the production was originally a pipe dream. “I wanted to capture the origins of the song and I knew it was going to be a big effort. So I started with a storyboard, then shared it with our video director and incredibly he had the balls to take it on!”, laughed Joseph.

This music video reflects the sheer determination of this power trio, but also the creative passion the band possesses. From the ‘Stranger Things’ teenage victim to the evil eyed villain, The Devil’s Approach music video commands attention right to the very end. Incredibly well filmed and edited, supported by a powerful live performance by the band.”

Shake The Temple showcases the band’s deep set vintage hard rock and metal roots. Yet it goes deeper, unravelling the finer song crafting and melody inherent in the trio’s influences. Lead singer Joseph’s ability to deliver a power anthem is evident as is his knack in exploring darker social topics with moody melody and emotion. The album features Shake The Temple’s debut single Huntsman as well as follow up singles Martini and the cosmic Who I Am …read more

Joel explains, “When the pandemic hit, bands stopped touring and the world shut down. I decided to contact some musicians I’ve always wanted to work with and record an album of cover tunes with a hard rock/metal vibe. The songs are some “hand-picked” favorites of mine that I thought everyone involved could have some fun with and the fans would enjoy hearing. It all started releasing two videos in 2020 featuring Last in Line/Lynch Mob vocalist Andrew Freeman and it just took off from there. I recorded the drum tracks in the studio by myself without any music, just a click track and the arrangement in my head. Then I sent the tracks out to the individual musicians I wanted to have perform on the songs. The artists recorded their parts in their own home studios and sent them back to me. It was really cool to hear how each musician interpreted and performed their parts and the songs just evolved. The creative process was absolutely fascinating and I think we captured some amazing performances on this album.”
