The name is DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY, they hail from Denmark and they play rock’n’roll – and it’s pretty damn catchy! Diplomatic Immunity successfully fuse the best elements of both U.S. and British rock to create one huge sound.
Diplomatic Immunity’s anthemic recent single ‘Now’s The Time’ was recently released to strong critical acclaim and they now follow it up with another brand new single and video ‘Picture Perfect Paradise’ which is out now via Golden Robot Records on all digital platforms.
‘Picture Perfect Paradise’ is a hard-hitting song that sits heavily on you and takes your breath away. The aggressive lyrics speak to how easy it is to get obsessed with the idea of living a perfect life, but when chasing that life makes you miserable, is it really worth it? ‘Picture Perfect Paradise’ is another big, bombastic andarena styled rock tune that will turn a lot of heads. Diplomatic Immunity again deliver absolute rock quality.
Finnish symphonic doom/death metallers DEPRESSED MODE have returned! The band was formed in 2005 and they released two studio albums via Firedoom Music (Ghosts of Devotion 2007) & (..for Death.. 2009). The band went on a hiatus on 2010 but returned on 2020 and are now set to release their third studio album Decade of Silence on May 6th 2022 via Inverse Records.
First official single Endless November featuring Veronica Bordacchini (Fleshgod Apocalypse) is released today and music video for the track is available here:
Vocalist Otto Salonen comment: “Endless November tells of immense loss and sorrow. The song is painted in gloomy waters, the ocean of sorrow, forests of death, and fields of pain. The heart can break from painful memories, and its own existence. The birth of the song was the first of its kind in almost ten years. It went all the way to the mastering of the project under the name of Doom1, and it was great to hear it completely ready, as well as the whole album, of course!Veronica’s contribution to the song was, in my opinion, a pure diamond, and it wouldn’t have become as massive without her.
Inverse Records agreement
In the summer of 2020, when I announced in social media that new music was being made for Depressed Mode, Inverse immediately contacted us about the release. The first draft contract was received in early 2021, but it was left to cook when a few other contract proposals were received at the beginning of the year also. The spring and summer went a little as it went, and negotiations did not progress due to communication problems until the connection was restored in September and an agreement was reached. It felt good and natural to make a deal with Inverse Records, as the same guys do the job as in our previous label, but with a bigger vibe. Now that the album’s release date has finally been set, although not until next spring, it still feels pretty good!”
About one month before the release of MÜTTERLEIN‘s second album, “Bring Down The Flags“, Debemur Morti Productions disclose the closing track, ‘Requiem‘. Driven by drums and wavering ambient loops, MÜTTERLEIN‘s composition unhurriedly evokes a haunting atmosphere of misery. Due to Marion‘s deep and grim screams, the predominant depressive vibe is soon complemented by wallowing pain and frustration. With its nearly twelve minutes length, ‘Requiem‘ develops a hypnotic character and captivates the listener by removing all unnecessary arrangements.
Marion narrates about the creation and background of ‘Requiem‘:
“The writing of what became the lyrics to ‘Requiem‘ was the first thing that opened the concept of the new album itself. I decided very soon that they would be the last words I would say on “Bring Down The Flags“. I do not have much control over my compositional process. It is quite instinctive. Concerning this song specifically: I already had written the lyrics, like I said, and then I went on writing the drum lines and tried to find the right intensity and the right tempo that would fit my intentions concerning the vocals. It just sort of took a life of its own from there. It probably takes a special state of mind to create a song like ‘Requiem‘. I know this ‘Requiem‘ is a successful one because it provided the outlet for the ardor and the emotions that was stirred to the very depths along the whole writing process of this album.“
Conceptually, ‘Requiem‘ was specifically designed to end “Bring Down The Flags“:
“It was always clear that these words would end the whole story, yes. ‘Oblivion‘ being the exact last word you can hear. I also conceive “Bring Down The Flags” as a grieving process and as an attempt at transformation. ‘Requiem‘ would be the ultimate mourning ritual here and it buries much more than this album. It buries all that gave rise to the hurt and the anger it contains. It is a farewell, in fact … it burns it all … with strobes – acceptance … without hope.“
“Bring Down The Flags” will be released on December 30th and can be pre-ordered via the label’s EU, US and Bandcamp shops.
MÜTTERLEIN is the solo project of Marion Leclercq (ex-OVERMARS), composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist.
Adopted in 2014, this pseudonym is a nod to the nightmarish yet fragile work of NICO, who in many ways deconstructed the unbearable myth of ‘femininity’ imposed on us. Musically, MÜTTERLEIN mixes Post-Punk savagery, Doom, Noise, Industrial and Black Metal to create a vast universe of Post-Metal experimentation.
First album, “Orphans Of The Black Sun” – released in 2016 on Sundust Records, a label co-run by Vindsval from BLUT AUS NORD – leaned towards the Post-Punk and Doom registers using minimalist, cold instrumentation to create a record organic and ritualistic as a witch-dance around a fire.
In 2020, MÜTTERLEIN responded to an invitation by the artist LIMBES (ex-BLURR THROWER) to create a mirror piece to his epic 25 minute track entitled “Vérité” (French for Truth) for a split release issued in 2021 by LADLO. The free format allowed MÜTTERLEIN to experiment even further, constructing a slow, desolate dreamscape of doom-laden Dark Ambient.
“Bring Down The Flags“, MÜTTERLEIN‘s second album, will be released in late 2021 by Debemur Morti Productions. Dark, haunting and immediate, the album incorporates more electronic sounds and blackened Industrial atmospheres to serve a more direct subject and voice.
Algerian Brutal Tech-Death act SILENT OBSESSION have released a lyric video for upcoming single “Against The Process.” The single, which features vocalist Redouane Aouameur of Lelahell, will be released on November 27.
“Against The Process” follows the release of this year’s Countdown EP.
Silent Obsession is the brainchild of guitarist and composer Max Marginal. Influenced by bands including Decapitated and Morbid Angel among several other Death Metal bands, Silent Obsession raised the bar in the Algerian Metal scene with its raw sound of unadulterated, brutal metal music intertwined with dark realities. Originally beginning as a solo project in 2017, Silent Obsession transformed over the years into an ensemble of four members and catapulted its popularity, musical philosophy and technically brutal music compositions to another level with the release of its two EPs Lost and Countdown.
Making its mark with the release of its 2020 breakthrough debut EP entitled Lost, a 4-track EP depicting post apocalyptical and dystopian societies concepts within the depths of the contemporary human condition. Wanting to explore such ideologies, Max wrote and composed very precise material to matched these obscure themes visibly on the artwork of the Lost EP and audibly on its tracks including “Paranoia Activity”, “D.E.A.D” and “Destruction of the Spirit”. Gaining much traction, reviews and fandom from the success of Lost, Silent Obsession released its highly anticipated second EP entitled, Countdown on July 15. Themed by “the apocalypse, the end of the world,” says Max, Countdown features 3three tracks, the “Intro”, “End of An Era” and “Exhausted Resource.”
Inspired by the box office cult movie classic “Mad Max”, Max’s artistic expression manifested into the formation of Silent Obsession and delves into the obscure and covertly, dark side of humanity and society as a whole. Emanating from Algeria’s capital city Algiers, Silent Obsession continues to enhance and help build the Extreme Metal Music community of Algeria with every track fuelled by the harsh realities of depression and degradation of the human behaviour, apocalypse and murder.
