“Ugly… people are ugly because society only accepts you if you fit into the mold and they will always try to shape you if you don‘t fit the standard”, says GHØSTKID about the brand new track “Ugly” that is now available on all digital platforms.
The band comments:
“Nowadays it‘s hard to be different… and it‘s even harder to feel happy and free. People will always try to shape you in order to make them feel superior but nobody can tell you what is wrong and what is right when it comes down to your own individuality. This track is dealing with the struggle of being an outsider. You‘ll always be manipulated by others, you will never be accepted the way you are, so just don‘t give a f**k and never let them change you…”
The visualizer video that is going along with the release was created by GHØSTKID himself and is visible HERE.
STATIC ABYSS is the new mouthpiece for a rotten age consisting of the duo of Greg Wilkinson (Guitars/bass) & Chris Reifert (drums/vocals), both members of legendary American masters of sickness Autopsy, with Greg (also of cult act Deathgrave) recently welcomed as their new bass player.
Static Abyss’ debut studio album, ‘Labyrinth of Veins’, presents an unnerving, multi-layered eerie concoction of dirty doom and death, Chris Reifert states the album themes are to “explore the echoes of insanity manifested through human existence.” The result; a sinister onslaught of, at times, slow and bludgeoning brutal metal whilst at others whipped into a storm of chaotic vile hysterics. The spirit of Autopsy is at times present in the truly titanic riffs swathed in chilling atmospheric guitar leads, whilst Chris’ seemingly bottomless pit of morbid inspiration from the dark & twisted corners of life permeate the release with his highly distinguishable delivery to further the descent into madness.
The band have released the first track – “Jawbone Ritual” accompanied by a lyric video created by Matt Vickerstaff – watch here.
‘Labyrinth of Veins’ was recorded at Earhammer Studios in Oakland, CA, & Great American Music Hall, with engineering, mixing and mastering overseen by Greg himself. With thecover art appears courtesy of All Things Rotten.
On 22nd April, Labyrinth Of Veins will be released on CD, black vinyl LP with printed sleeve including full lyrics and digitally.

Finnish hard rockers MARCO LUPONERO & THE LOUD ONES have released their new single and lyric video for ‘Home To You’.
”I don’t easily write love songs”, says Marco Luponero when asked about the lyrics for his new single, ”Home To You”, which drops on Valentine’s Day 2022. ”Most of them are about some societal problem, religion, war, whatever… But this time it just happened to feel natural, so I wrote a number that I dedicated to my wife.”
So how did Marco come up with the idea for the track? ”I got this simple, clean melody in my head and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I knew I had to create something around it.” To achieve the right feel, Marco took inspiration from bands like D-A-D and The Cult. ”I’ve always loved it when bands apply western-style twang guitar to hard rock songs. With that in mind, I managed to find the unique sound that we use on the main riff.”
”Home To You” is the third single from Marco Luponero & The Loud Ones’ debut full-length album Life & Death, which will be released March 4th.

“BIG” JOHN HARTE, longtime bodyguard for iconic music artists including KISS, IRON MAIDEN, BILLY IDOL, and PRINCE, passed away on Friday, February 11 in Hollywood, Florida. He was 70 years old.
Born John Joseph Harte III in Newark, NJ on November 15, 1951, he was the older of two boys raised in a traditional Irish-Catholic family in nearby Passaic. When Harte’s mother unexpectedly passed away, he helped support his family while dreaming of becoming a famous musician. The rock-and-roll band that Harte played drums and percussion for did not last long, but a chance experience keeping people at bay outside a Grateful Dead concert would change the trajectory of his life.
“I was noticed at that show because I was big, dressed in denim and black, looked tough with my biker’s mustache and could handle a rowdy crowd,” Harte recalled while working on his memoir in 2021. “I soon found myself handling security at Passaic’s Capitol Theater, Jersey City’s Roosevelt Stadium and New York’s Fillmore East for musicians ranging from Gregg Allman to Lou Reed to the New York Dolls. I learned all aspects of the music business ‘ground up’ by ushering guests, tuning instruments for performers and doing whatever was needed to ensure a concert ran smoothly.”

John’s efforts paid off: In late 1975, he was offered the job of a lifetime—traveling on tour with KISS!
“A fella named Rick Stuart, who was already working security with the group, knew I wanted to get on the road as the next step in my career. After the band played the Capitol in October 1975, Rick took me to the hotel room where they were staying. I met tour manager JR Smalling, and was given — or subjected to (laughter) — an impromptu interview. A few days later, I was offered the job by manager Bill Aucoin, soon went on the group’s first European tour and worked an average of six days per week for almost a decade. An experience of a lifetime!”
“Guys like [John] are a rare breed,” states KISS co-founder and frontman, Paul Stanley from his Foreword contributed to Harte’s forthcoming book:
“John was a formidable presence and was rough around the edges for sure, but that never overshadowed the dedication and conscience he would show while babysitting and coddling four spoiled and needy rockstars who were always vying for attention and affirmation that they were his favorite.”
“Big John is a legend in the KISS world, nearly as big as the band itself,” recalls Michael Brandvold, co-founder of KISS-fan podcast Three Sides of The Coin. “Growing up I saw him as this larger than life, imposing figure who was tasked with protecting the identities of the KISS members. But, when I first met him in 2018 I quickly saw John for who he really was… a quiet, gentle giant with a big heart.”
After an exclusive eight-year stint with KISS, Harte spent much of the 1980s touring with British Heavy Metal band, IRON MAIDEN, enjoying more than his share of all perks the music business had to offer— the Rock Star Lifestyle that millions have fantasized about.
“John had worked with us for several years and I recently had a great visit with him laughing and sharing stories together,” recalls longtime Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain. “A great guy and valued member of the family who will be sadly missed!”
Harte’s days with Maiden would lead to a four-decade friendship with Steve Altman, who signed on as bassist Steve Harris’s personal assistant and later encouraged Harte to chronicle his Rock ’N Roll adventures:
“I was young and John took me under his wing, even as we both moved on to other music industry opportunities,” says Altman. “He was a constant ‘go to’ in my life and was always there for me.”
Harte would eventually settle down and marry the love of his life, MaryAnn, and have their son Brian. Although he would give up the day-to-day, grueling schedule required of world touring, Harte would continue working as late as the 2003 KISS/Aerosmith tour. It was then Harte realized that he had his own following of supporters, and would travel to various conventions and an official KISS Kruise in 2017 to meet them.
“John was loved by so many fans of the bands he had worked for,” said his wife. “The admiration that was always shown to him by those whom he met always blew him away. He treasured those moments.”
Harte’s book will be completed and published posthumously in 2023. “John was not only a part of KISStory but, in a sense, also a rock star in his own right,” says Harte’s co-author Robert V. Conte. “He witnessed first-hand how the concert scene evolved from the days of the most basic, often error-ridden performances to the visual and audio spectacles most concerts offer today. John and I spoke often over the past few years developing his book and I promised his memoir would be published no matter what. Despite his terrible loss, I will keep that promise.”
Some 30 years after they disbanded, Wollongong’s seminal pre-grunge rock band THE PROTON ENERGY PILLS are back and ready to fill in the long time between drinks.
In what is best described as an archival recording project rather than an official re-union, THE PROTONS are amazed to announce the release of two-killer new/old tracks, ‘Revolution’ & ‘Tombstone’. Both songs were originally written and performed by the band back in the day, and are two songs out of a bunch of songs the band never had the opportunity to record and release. They sit perfectly in the band’s noisy, long-haired, high-energy rock style.
‘Revolution’ & ‘Tombstone’ are out now on all digital platforms via Golden Robot Records, plus the official music video for ‘Revolution‘ is now available to watch on YouTube – check it out below.

The story of how THE PROTONS came back from the dead is eerily reminiscent of how young American blues fans in the 60’s went south in search of the blues players from the 30’s and 40’s. The Protons were re-born so to speak after some younger Sydney fans/musos went south to Wollongong in search of the band members. These younger fans had long passed live recordings of the Protons amongst each other and formed an idea to properly record the great songs the band never had the opportunity to put down before they disbanded.
The reborn line up of The PROTONS features original singer & guitarist (and main songwriters) Dave Curley and Stew Cunningham with a bunch of younger musicians from a new generation helping out – Brett Hottes on bass, Grant Lawrence on drums and Jonny Turcinskis on 2nd guitar. Both original members are keen to acknowledge it is the ‘not really’ version of the Proton Energy Pills. Original bassist Jay Curley sadly passed away in 2014 making a genuine re-union impossible.
The original line up of THE PROTONS released a couple of seminal 7” singles and an EP circa 1990 on the Waterfront Records label and also toured as support to MUDHONEY and DINOSAUR JR on their pivotal first Australian tours. Earlier in 2021 a re-issued vinyl LP of THE PROTONS original studio recordings on the Music Farmers label made it to #15 in the ARIA charts.
2022 should also see a full album of previously unreleased songs along the lines of ‘Revolution’ & ‘Tombstone’ and possibly even some live appearances throughout Australia.
