ENDSEEKER Release New Video for ‘Merciless Tide’

In April 2021, ENDSEEKER released their latest full-length, Mount Carcass, via Metal Blade Records – which debuted at #22 on the German charts! Now, the band has launched a new video for the track, “Merciless Tide”, which can be viewed below.

Ben Liepelt (guitars) comments: “Merciless Tide deals with a bunch of so called conspiracy theories which are still a big thing and seem to have even massively grown over the past 2 years. It’s one of the first songs we’ve written for “Mount Carcass” and with its heavy midtempo groove we thought it would be a great choice to put out as the 6th video from that record while it’s lyrically more up to date than ever. The video was shot on a cold Sunday afternoon in December of 2021 and we wanted to keep it super simple with a strong DIY vibe. No fancy stuff, just the 5 of us shredding out in our rehearsal room. What you see is what you get.“

Having become one of the premier German death metal bands – and rapidly rising the ranks of the genre as a whole – Endseeker storm back into the fray with Mount Carcass. Building on the groundwork laid down on 2017’s Flesh Hammer Prophecy and having the difficult task of besting 2019’s stunning The Harvest, they have returned with a streamlined, powerful collection that further raises the bar.

Like both of its predecessors, Mount Carcass was recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by Eike Freese at Chameleon Studios in Hamburg, Germany. Going into the record, Endseeker knew they wanted something rawer and more organic than The Harvest, and while Covid was causing global havoc, the band embraced the time they would have otherwise spent touring, using it to rehearse and discuss what they wanted the record to be. From this process they knew they wanted the songs to be quite straightforward and even have something of a “punkish / crust feel, so to speak. The songs are pretty reduced to the core with all the ballast removed. Every part and every riff has a meaning and isn’t just there for no other reason than extending the song. The album is also very melodic. There are a bunch of very strong guitar hooks and vocal compositions that really stick in your ears for days. It’s way simpler and probably more easy to listen to compared to ‘The Harvest’ or ‘Flesh Hammer Prophecy’, but at the same time, it has a very spontaneous and lively attitude with a big chunk of personality.” To keep the genre sounding fresh in 2021, they focused on the production, having just a touch of the old school vibe to remain rooted, and they did not limit themselves too hard to the Swedish death metal style of songwriting they previously embraced, but also let other influences into their songs. “You can hear all kinds of stuff that is inspired by bands like Morbid Angel, Bolt Thrower, Slayer, Dissection, Gorefest, etc. We listen to so many different bands, and somehow, a bit from all of this keeps adding to our music.“

Electrifying garage rock outfit ÅSKVÄDER is back. The Swedish group will launch their second full length album “Fenix” in the spring of 2022 via The Sign Records.

Following the release of their self titled debut from 2020, Åskväder returns with a set of 12 new tracks. Recorded live in studio, “Fenix” captures the essence of the band’s energetic and direct sound. Combining bluesy guitar licks with groovy rhythms and catchy, melodic hooks, Åskväder’s new album brings straight forward, 90’s inspired Scandinavian garage rock to the modern day and age. In support of the new album, the band just released a brand new video clip for the track “Let You Down”.

Martin Gut comments:

“Let You Down is a love song picturing a very close relationship between two people. It describes the will to always be close, to help and to support. Maybe this is an unusual topic in the world of rock n roll and maybe it is not cool, but hey we are not too cool for school anyway. This is a track that we are really proud of and a track that we will be a definite choice for our live shows.“

“Fenix” to be released March 25th via The Sign Records

Tracklist:

  1. Blurry Lines
  2. When We Fall
  3. Let You Down
  4. Old Friend
  5. Claptrap
  6. Head Home
  7. Zealot
  8. Nightcap
  9. Preach for Me
  10. Deadlock
  11. Reap What You Sow
  12. Run out of Time

LIVLØS Reveal Official ‘Serpentine Supremacy’ Live Music Video

After the successful album release of And Then There Were None in 2021, proving LIVLØS to be one of the most exciting up-and-coming acts in melodic death metal, the band chimes back in with the release of “Serpentine Supremacy” and the official live music video, filmed at their And Then There Were None release show in October 2021 in Copenhagen, Denmark’s Pumpehuset.

LIVLØS on “Serpentine Supremacy”:
“We had such an amazing time playing the release show for our new album, that we just had to share it with all of you! Pairing those shots with our 3-minute feral ‘Serpentine Supremacy’ seemed like the obvious choice for bringing the intensity of that night to the silver screen!”

On their latest album, And Then There Were None, LIVLØS are audibly on top of their game: scrupulously ripping through nine tight, hard-lined tracks, the band takes no shortcuts while still maintaining a dynamic songwriting style that keeps listeners on their toes throughout the album’s runtime. Album opener and title track “And Then There Were None” sets the pace with punishing vocals and raging death metal riffs, leading into dramatic choruses and guitar solos that display LIVLØS’ incredibly multi-faceted talent right off the bat. Only very rarely will the band give listeners time to breathe, like on acoustic intermission “Kistefjael” or the slowed-down, stomping “The Purest Black”, which ends the album experience of And Then There Were None in a triumphant, epic manner. Songs like “Seize The Night” are impressive depictions of singer Niklas Lykke’s broad vocal range, reaching from deep and guttural to high-pitched and ear-piercing sections.

Excellently mixed by Jacob Bredahl (ex-Hatesphere) and mastered by Brad Boatright (known for his work with Obituary, Nails and Torche among others), And Then There Were None is an exceptional display of LIVLØS’ confident, modern approach to melodic death metal, meticulously executed from start to finish – revealing more of what it has to offer with every listen. LIVLØS prove that they are here to stay with And Then There Were None!

Finnish alt death -pioneers MEDEIA return with a new single and video A Cross to Bear. This year marks 20 years since the formation of the band.

MEDEIA finish off the Corona season with a heavily mental health -influenced single. Whereas the pandemic has taxed the world’s collective mental health, so has it done to the multi diagnostic group. A Cross to Bear features a co-vocal performance by former The Ocean -vocalist Mike Pilat, who nowadays fronts British heavy hitters Herod.

The song is a reminder, that the cross was originally designed to be a torture device, that many of us symbolically carry in our minds.

The proceeds of this release will be donated to the Finnish Association of Mental Health. You can read more about their work here.

Formed in 2002, MEDEIA is truly a pioneering band in the Finnish alternative metal scene. During their career spanning over two decades, the band has released 5 albums whereas their latest effort and Playground-debut Xenosis saw daylight in 2019. The album reached Top 5 in Finland’s physical album charts and was supported by heavy touring. The band is also no stranger to international waters, having toured with Children of Bodom on their record breaking euro-tour as well as with The Ocean, Raised Fist and with Khroma on a co-headline tour through Europe.
