German medieval folk metal force FEUERSCHWANZ just entered the Official German Album Charts on #1. Now, they already releasing their next video – the cover version of O-Zone’s 2004 summer hit “Dragostea Din Tei”, taken from the Memento Mori Bonus album, Die Glorreichen Sieben.

FEUERSCHWANZ once again shows their exceptional ability to make non-metal songs their own. The combination between metal music archetypes and dance rhythms is simply irresistible for any music enthusiast – it is simply impossible not to sing along to this track!

FEUERSCHWANZ on “Dragostea Din Tei”:
“When we decided to cover this song, we also did not know where the journey will go! In the end, it became a horde of Vikings, who row to Mallorca to party hard at the Ballermann! In addition, the song is a special premiere – our first song in Romanian!”

On the now released Memento Mori, FEUERSCHWANZ finally make the step away from the simpler humor of earlier days, to one of the most important bands in German Folk-Rock!

With chanting violin playing, Memento Mori starts its heroic journey with its eponymous opener. The song turns out to be a melodic rock anthem with a well-known medieval character, a blazing guitar riff and life-affirming lyrics. On “Untot im Drachenboot”, the squad around Captain Feuerschwanz sets off for new musical shores in a Viking ship full of undead warriors. “Rausch der Barbarei”, on the other hand delivers a violent, raw voice and driving drumming that send its listeners into unbridled frenzy. On “Krampus”, FEUERSCHWANZ sing in a canon of vocals and instruments about the ancient legend of the demonic companion of St. Nicholas, who is dressed in fur and a horned mask. On the ballad “Das Herz eines Drachen” (The Heart of a Dragon), the medieval folk rockers show their sensible side. In a fire lit by burning guitar sounds and flute melodies, a warrior mourns his fallen father with his head held high. “Hannibal” on the other hand embarks on a raging battle of powerful choirs, swirling violin and guitar solos and driving drums, led by army commander Hannibal. The crowning finale of the almost 40-minute adventure is provided by “Skaldenmet” with its proudly advancing bass.

In trademark FEUERSCHWANZ style, Memento Mori is about great adventures, historic battles and outstanding heroic deeds. FEUERSCHWANZ manage to stay true to their trademarks and at the same time venture into new musical realms. Fans of the band can look forward to an extensive deluxe edition of the album, which extends the running time of Memento Mori by almost double! Two additional CDs feature instrumental versions of all eleven tracks as well as the cover CD Die Glorreichen Sieben (The Magnificent Seven), which includes seven epic reissues from Amon Amarth to Die Ärzte and The Weeknd.

FEUERSCHWANZ on the new album:
“You take nothing with you to your grave, except your coffin… Memento Mori is the direct successor to Die Letzte Schlacht! The world of Hauptmann Feuerschwanz is in flames, overrun by the living dead and scourged by religious zealots… All of this sounds frighteningly real, even in Anno Domini 2021, so it’s time to defy the storm once again and celebrate life. Let’s live here, let’s live now – until death sharpens his knife!”

Memento Mori out NOW!

SETYØURSAILS Joined by Caliban’s Andy Doerner on New Single + Video ‘Nightfall’

Before dropping their second album and label debut, Nightfall, this Friday, German metalcore powerhouse SETYØURSAILS keeps the anticipation high by unveiling the album’s exciting title track today. For this massive sonic experience, the fast-rising act teamed up with Andy Doerner, singer of metalcore veterans Caliban, to deliver THE hard-as-nails kickstart to 2022. The third single comes with a spectacular music video shot within the impressive locale of Brandis Castle near Leipzig, Germany.

“Nightfall” showcases the full straightforward range of Jules Mitch’s vocals, which oscillate between concise and clear, intense screams and expressive growling – all perfectly underlined by the powerful growls of Andy Doerner. With raging drums, heavy guitars and hard-hitting breakdowns, this hefty outburst will heat up the anticipation even more for the unit’s new offering!

SETYØURSAILS about “Nightfall”:
“We are overjoyed to present our third single release with our esteemed colleague Andy Doerner (Caliban). We deliberately named it the same as the album, as it is the centerpiece of the record. ‘Nightfall’ is about the contradiction of being trapped in the darkness and being scared, but at the same time, worshipping the darkness. The crucial sentence that makes this clear is ‘they say the nightfall brings fear, but it’s the sun I can’t stand’. Which means ‘I struggle with my depression, but I’m also drawn to it because the darkness is familiar and makes me feel safe.’ Also, the sun in this case is symbolic of coming to terms with the illness and that it is easier to sink into it rather than fight it. Again, a very personal text that looks deep into Jules’ daily struggle. We very much hope that some people will find themselves in it – and can identify with it, so that they can draw an important message from it: You are not alone!”

Andy Doerner (Caliban) adds:
“Since I’ve known SETYØURSAILS, I have become a big fan. They’re one of my favorite up-and-coming bands from Germany. ‘Nightfall’ is a monster of a bouncer and the chorus really blew me away. I love Jules voice and I’m happy to be a part of it! Give it a spin.”

SETYØURSAILS on the video:
“We had a super nice day at Brandis Castle near Leipzig (Germany). We had the whole building to ourselves and took advantage of as much of it as we could. It was especially great working with Andy from Caliban. He is a great artist and one of the nicest people we have ever had the pleasure to meet. It was all very relaxed and just a lot of fun. To see a well-known and established artist perform your own song with such passion was just great. We are incredibly grateful for all the great people who work with us. At this point we would like to say a big thank you to our videographer Peter Leukhardt.”

Young, enraged and standing steadfastly against hate – SETYØURSAILS perform uncompromising yet melodic post hardcore-influenced metalcore, convincing both live and on record. The unit has already performed at well-known festivals (Reload Festival, Traffic Jam Open Air) and converted fans alongside genre greats like Bullet for My Valentine, Hatebreed, Jinjer and Walls of Jericho with their unbeatable live energy. Their first album, Enough (2018), has attracted the attention of noteworthy outlets like FUZE and MoreCore, and now, SETYØURSAILS are proudly heading for round two.

Nightfall stands as an impressive return for SETYØURSAILS, who once again prove their musical diversity. A mixture of catchy choruses and intense breakdowns are evident on brutally melodic “Why”, the changing spectrum of “Deadline”, and “Into the Storm”, which starts with a crisp deathcore intro. Versatile “Mirror” begins atmospherically before bubbling up to an impressive journey through personal conflicts without losing its undeniably catchy quality. With tracks like “Secrets” and “Forgive Me” the band also presents its softer side. SETYØURSAILS are also full of surprises – together with Mike Perez from No Bragging Rights, they cover “Shallow” (from the film A Star Is Born) by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, and give the ballad their personal touch, once again proving their musical diversity. Nightfall was produced, recorded, mixed & mastered by Annisokay vocalist/guitarist Christoph Wieczorek and songwriter/producer Julian Breucker at Sawdust Recordings. Both have already worked with greats like Beyond The Black, Eisbrecher and Emil Bulls – just to name a few.

SETYØURSAILS about their new album:
“This album is the most honestly written work we could get out of ourselves. It reflects the struggle of dealing with oneself, fear and life itself. It’s dark, it’s loud and it hurts. But most importantly- it’s true.”

Nightfall tracklist:
1. Ghosts
2. Nightfall
3. Secrets
4. Why
5. Mirror
6. Into the Storm
7. Anchor
8. Forgive Me
9. Deadline

Metal vets TRAUMA will be launching their first-ever European tour in May, when they join a bill also featuring ROSS THE BOSS.

Additionally, the band has completed work on their next album, ‘Awakening,’ which will be released at some point this year. It marks the first Trauma album to feature new singer, Brian Allen, who replaced the group’s original vocalist, Donny Hillier (who passed away in 2020).

“Trauma is delighted to be going on tour in Europe with Ross The Boss,” says drummer Kris Gustofson. “As this is Trauma’s first time touring in Europe, we cannot wait to play for the fans! It has been way too long. Fans can expect to hear and see Trauma performing some old tracks – ‘Scratch and Scream,’ ‘From Here to Hell,’ and some tracks from the new album with new vocalist Brian Allen. High energy, Bombastic songs and a true heavy metal experience is what fans will receive.”

Trauma will also be appearing as part of the multi-act Alcatraz Hard Rock & Metal Festival in Belgium (which will also feature the likes of Testament, Hatebreed, Accept, etc.), which runs from August 12-14th.

For more information/to order ticktets, visit https://www.alcatraz.be/en/index.

And concerning Trauma’s new album, it is being heralded as their finest work to date (produced by Juan Urteaga, who has previous worked with Testament and Machine Head), including such songs as “Death of the Angels,” “Meat,” “Death Machine,” and ” Walk Away,” among others.

Originally formed in 1981 in San Francisco, Trauma was part of the same scene that gave the world such thrash notables as Exodus, Metallica, and Testament. And the band’s original bassist was none other than the late/legendary Cliff Burton (who would later join Metallica). 1984 saw the release of the group’s debut album, ‘Scratch and Scream,’ before the band parted in 1985. But in 2013, Trauma reunited, and have been back in business ever since.

And according to the band, fans will not be disappointed with what they will hear from their new music. “Trauma’s new album along with new vocalist Brian Allen is going to melt your face off!!”

TUOMAS ROUNAKARI Finishes Recording “Bear Awakener” Album, Issues Studio Recap

Violinist, composer, ethnomusicologist TUOMAS ROUNAKARI has finished recording his next album “Bear Awakener“, read below his studio recap:

“Jan 13th. The midpoint of hybernation and winter.
A perfect day to finish recording the Bear Awakener album. Most grateful for everything! Working at Verde Studio with Mika Rintala, a legend in audio engineering, was exactly what I was looking after: effortless, fun, inspiring and explorative.
We lost a day from the schedule as the raw-gut violin strings arrived in the very last minute. These strings took the violin modifications to a next level and the sound was a perfect match with the custom equipment by Verde Audio
✨“

At the beginning of January Tuomas posted online a video, expressing his gratitude to all the crowdfunding campaign contributors for the new “Bear Awakener”, which reached its goal in less than 12 hours! In case you missed, watch the video here: https://www.facebook.com/watch?v=2088130888009225

Even though the crowdfunding campaigned ended on January 2nd, the “Bear Awakener” pre-orders go on live at https://igg.me/at/bearawakener

Planned release date of “Bear Awakener” is on March 13th 2022! According to an ancient Finnish bear calendar this date marked the end of winter hibernation and awakening of the bears.

Just recently Tuomas unveiled three Episodes for “Bear Awakener” and its backgrounds and meanings.

What is “Bear Awakener”?
The name Bear Awakener comes from specific songs sung in order to awaken the bear. This album dives deep into the bear myths and is designed to re-awaken or cherish anyones connection with this mythical entity.

The myth of a bear’s origin is identical among the Finns and the indigenous Khanty and Mansi people. Both cultures run ceremonial Bear feasts that last several days. Many songs, dances and plays are performed in honor of the bear. Tuomas Rounakari has studied the bear feast songs of all of these cultures. There are thousands of verses containing bear related myths in the vast archives of Finland and the tradition is now returning among the Khanty and Mansi.

TUOMAS ROUNAKARI is an internationally acclaimed violinist, composer and ethnomusicologist from Finland. He is a one-man-band blending violin, vocals and stomping with ankle-bells. In his performance he enters various trance-states. In this album he will also be playing a traditional Khanty instrument called Ning-juh.

Tuomas is inspired by different forms of dialogue; man and nature, the seen and the unseen world, ancient and future. His first solo album Shamanviolin was a result of ethnomusicological studies of the earliest 20th century wax-cylinder recordings from Siberia. These studies have also led to many collaborations with indigenous artists. He is one of the few artists who have actually returned their art to native communities for evaluation and development.

Enjoy online concert from Kaustinen Folk Music Festival 2020. Shamanviolin at Pauanne is a full-length online concert produced by the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival 2020. The concert was filmed at the magical Pauanne where a community of folk musicians and folk healers used to live in the 1980’s. All buildings are fully hand made with many mythological decorations. This Shamanviolin concert ends with lament melodies in a burnt down sauna. The magic and unique beauty of this place is still strong. A perfect environment for my music.

Ukrainian SPACE OF VARIATIONS Announce New Album “Imago”, First Single Revealed

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 18, 2022

Unstoppable Ukrainian ultra-modern metalcore unit SPACE OF VARIATIONS have made a name for themselves in the international scene, but now take it to the absolute next level with their upcoming in-your-face full-length, IMAGO, officially set for release on March 18, 2022 via Napalm Records.

IMAGO seamlessly mixes gut-punching hardcore riffs and catastrophic breakdowns with colorful electronics, brutalizing vocals and, at times, trance-like synth – exploring elements of djent, hip-hop and even hyperpop influence along the way. The album’s addictively erratic, emotive atmosphere echoes their spontaneous live performance; having previously toured with modern metal giants Jinjer, the four-piece relentlessly smashed European stages while captivating each listener with futuristic stylings reverberating the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Norma Jean and LANDMVRKS.

Today, the band steps up their game with hard-hitting first single “SOMEONE ELSE” –
loaded with aggressive screams, charging transitions and synth elements that leave no room for rest, the track delivers a promising glimpse of what fans can expect from the new album. Keep an eye on this futuristic metal monster!

SPACE OF VARIATIONS on “SOMEONE ELSE”:
“The ‘SOMEONE ELSE’ video is a metaphor. It talks about individualism, talks about the originality of every one of us as human creations. Talks about how we all involved to social life. And how sometimes it feels like a pain. To play a role, and not being your real self is suffering. This video shows how a faceless crowd tries to destroy the individuality of a main character, tries to kill him, and tries to make him looks the same as they are.

In this song, the character goes through stages of acceptance, realizing the facets of all the beautiful and terrible he has inside. Paradoxically, an internal puzzle becomes complete only through disassembling oneself. Acceptance of reality, no matter how good or bad it is, is sobering. This is IMAGO. Just keep your inner fire burning hot.”

Watch the music video for “SOMEONE ELSE” HERE:

Following their 2019 Napalm Records debut, the XXXXX EP, an unbridled SPACE OF VARIATIONS breaks new ground and transcends all expectations with their exciting and undeniably fresh second studio album IMAGO.

Furiously crashing opener “SOMEONE ELSE” sets free the uncompromising spirit of SPACE OF VARIATIONS – instantly breaking down genres and placing a forceful exclamation mark at the start with smashing instrumentation and a feverish vocal and lyrical assault by Dmytro Kozhukhar and Olexii Zatserkovnyi. Devastatingly heavy “1M followers” takes no prisoners from the first second and features a hefty appearance from former Asking Alexandria vocalist Denis Stoff, resulting in a fearless, addictive metalcore banger. Tracks like eponymous “IMAGO” and intense mid-tempo “Serial Killer” emphasize the multifaceted nature of SPACE OF VARIATIONS with sporadically scaled-back instrumentation and emotion turned to 10. On the contrary, previously released penultimate post-hardcore dystopia “Ultrabeat” delivers bone-crushing beats and is by far no stranger to the band’s devotees. Closing with an insane verse from Ukrainian rap sensation ALYONA ALYONA, the track undeniably marks a milestone in the unit’s soon-to-be revered history while representing the seething desire to expand all limits of songwriting and creativity. This mindset embodies SPACE OF VARIATIONS and their sonically boggling ode to the future, IMAGO.

SPACE OF VARIATIONS on IMAGO:
“The main symbolism of the album is hidden in its title – IMAGO. In entomology, imago is the last stage an insect attains during its metamorphosis. In psychology, it’s one of the fundamental concepts, an unconscious mental image a person has of himself, other objects of reality and his blood ties through the prism of his perception. As an insect breaks through the shell of a chrysalis to free itself from the protective cocoon surrounding it, you, too, through inner transformation can really become the new being, which, in fact, you were always meant to be. Imago = new stage, Imago = maturation.

Only in retrospect can one see the imago, which was previously hidden in the shadows. The future is being prepared in the bosom of the past and the present.
Imago is the most complete convergence with yourself that can only happen.
With this album, SPACE OF VARIATIONS are definitely moving to a new round of self-development as a creative organism.“
