Rising experimental progressive rockers RESTIVE NATION have revealed another slice from their forthcoming self-titled new studio album.
‘Red Mist’ lifts the listener to another dimension with a hypnotic tale of alien abduction in the style of Blur’s ‘Parklife’, complemented with a punchy, spiralling, hypnotic, electronic backdrop. Listen to the track here.
The band says of the track: “Red Mist is a psychedelic twist on electronic rock. Surf rock guitar melodies are infused with industrial pulsing synths that provide an unearthly backdrop for an extraterritorial narrative.”
Check out the video here:
This is one of the most experimental tracks on the album which gives the full detailed account of a confused man’s story on how he was abducted by aliens. The storyline was inspired by a book called ‘Omens of Awareness’. It described many UFO abduction scenarios and led to writing a personal take on it.”

Restive Nation are a Dublin-based progressive Rock/Electronic project that expands and pushes the elements of creativity using a wide spectrum of influences from NIN to Massive Attack, Jamie Lenman, Tool, Deftones, Mastodon, A Perfect Circle, Danny Elfman, and beyond.
Their self-titled new album is due for release early 2022. Find out more on Restive Nation via www.restivenation.com.

PUPIL SLICER have shareda new music video for their track,Collective Unconscious, which premiered yesterday evening via Knotfest. The six and a half minute missive is taken from the band’s debut full length, Mirrors, released in March of this year via Prosthetic Records. Collective Unconscious is available as a digital single featuring live versions of Mirrors Are More Fun Than Television and a cover of Converge’s Concubine as b-sides. The highly stylized visual, produced by Cineoteric Films, depicts the band performing within a theatre alongside choreographed dance and performance by Liam Hill – tying together Collective Unconscious‘ lyrical narrative.
Speaking on the song, Kate Davies (vocals / guitar) comments: “The song is about coming to terms with being trans and the amount of vitriol and unconscious bias in society around it, as well as my own internalised transphobia. Basically, after realising I was trans there wasn’t any way to un-learn that fact, so there was only one option: going forward despite knowing how hard things could be.
The idea of the majority of society being conditioned from birth to laugh at and dismiss everything about trans people, and there being no willingness to learn about struggles or to try to help. The way most media paints trans people is as sexual predators, just plain delusional or a threat to everyone around them. A way of coping became dissociation; disconnecting from what people say and how you feel, so that the negativity can’t affect you as much, distancing yourself from your own feelings as much as you can so that you don’t feel anything either way.”

PUPIL SLICER‘s Mirrors captures the frenetic energy that propels the band forward, making their snarling blend of mathcore, grindcore, death metal and more a truly essential listen. Garnering critical praise upon release, Mirrors debuted on the US Billboard Charts in March of this year and the band have since performed exclusive sets for both Knotfest and Mathcore Index – ahead of a planned 13 date European and UK tour alongside Rolo Tomassi in early 2022.
Praise for Mirrors:
“There’s a raft of exciting and innovative bands coming from the UK right now. PUPIL SLICER are on par with all of them.” – Metal Hammer UK
“Davies is such a consistently commanding presence that Mirrors is vastly more immersive and absorbing than any record this fast, furious and fucked up has any right to be.” – Blabbermouth
“Overall, Mirrors is nothing short of incredible. It’s up there with the likes of Vein, End and Fawn Limbs as one of the best and most visceral debuts of recent years.” – Distorted Sound
“PUPIL SLICER’s debut album is a panic-stricken purging of mental anguish, carried out by a blast of cacophonous instrumentation. So in other words, this album rules.” – New Noise
Upcoming PUPIL SLICER tour dates:
6 February – Record Junkee – Sheffield, UK
2022: European tour w/ Rolo Tomassi 10 February – Trix – Antwerp, Belgium 11 February – Péniche Antipode – Paris, France 12 February – Complexity Fest – Haarlem, Netherlands 14 February – Cassiopeia – Berlin, Germany 15 February – Strahov 007 – Prague, Czech Republic 16 February – A38 – Budapest, Hungary 17 February – Arena – Vienna, Austria 18 February – Feierwerk – Munich, Germany 19 February – MTC – Cologne, Germany 21 February – Rescue Rooms – Nottingham, UK 22 February – Club Academy – Manchester, UK 23 February – Fleece – Bristol, UK 24 February – Oval Space – London, UK

Vocalist Patrick Stone shares: ““Ghostlighting”- Facing who we really are can be terrifying. It’s very important to see the person in the mirror for who they really are. You can run, but you can’t hide from yourself.”
Signed to Motörhead Music personally by its founder, the late Motörhead front man Lemmy Kilmister, who previously employed BUDDERSIDE front man Patrick Alan Stone as a roadie, the band released their self-titled debut album in 2016 and hit the ground running appearing on tours alongside Motörhead, Slayer, Anthrax and L.A. Guns as well as being featured on international festivals including Wacken Open Air, Motörboat, Malmö Festival and the Monsters Of Rock cruise.

BUDDERSIDE was formed by vocalist PATRICK STONE following his departure from Adler’s Appetite under the guidance of his mentor and close friend, the late Motörhead front man Lemmy Kilmister. He later enlisted a band of skilled musicians including guitarists Logan Nikolic and Sam “Bam” Koltun (Faster Pussycat, Dorothy), bassist Gabe Maska (currently appearing as Kurt Cobain in the Las Vegas 27 Show) and drummer Jeff Dewbray. Their recent sophomore album SPIRITUAL VIOLENCE was released on March 26 via Motörhead Music/Silver Lining Music. It was recorded with legendary producer Jay Baumgardner (Bush, Godsmack, Papa Roach) and mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage), with guest collaborations from vocalist Carla Harvey (Butcher Babies) and guitarist Phil Campbell (Motörhead).
When it comes to energetic, catchy and soulful alternative rock, you can’t go far wrong with KOSMODOME, who will be releasing their self-titled, debut full-length album on Karisma Records on the 10th December. And, in anticipation of this pre-Holiday treat, the label has today released the track “Hypersonic”, about which the band had this to say:
When you feel like a failure because a hectic life takes you out of balance, music can be the one thing that gives back a sense of control because it takes you to a different, more comfortable place; escaping reality. However, music and music creation can also end up distracting you from truly facing your issues and maintaining control in life, when you’re always lagging behind.
“Hypersonic” can be downloaded or streamed via a selection of services at this location.
Originally formed by brothers Sturle (guitars and vocals) and Severin Sandvik (drums), KOSMODOME’s riff-based Rock sound has distinctive Stoner elements, all of which fit very effectively within a progressive framework. By expanding their live lineup with a bassist and guitarist KOSMODOME are now able to appear on stage as a four-piece.
On “Kosmodome”, which will be available in, CD, Digital and Limited Edition Green and Black marbled vinyl, the clever song writing of the Sandvik brothers demonstrates how it is possible to successfully bridge the gap between what is considered to be melodic, and the explosive drive of bands like MASTODON, as they recently explained:
We aim to draw listeners into the “Kosmodome”, in all its diversity. Throughout the album, we dwell in the melodic and the groovy; a baseline for deep dives into massive, heavy soundscapes and spacy atmospheres. Instrumental sections are central to our musical storytelling, further supported by our lyrical themes; introspection and wonder, ruminations on the human condition, and frustrations toward contemporary society.
With artwork by Mirkow Gastow, track listing for “Kosmodome” is as follows:
1. Enter the Dome 2. Retrograde 3. Hypersonic 4. Deadbeat 5. Waver I 6. Waver II 7. The 1 % 8. Orbit
