ALIEN ORCHESTRA Release New Single ‘Inside The Worn Shell’

After introducing their cinematic metal universe with “The Last Horizons“, Oslo-based studio act ALIEN ORCHESTRA returns with a new single, “Inside The Worn Shell,” taken from the forthcoming EP “Under My Pale Skin“.

Written and composed by EpicAlien (Jan Batista Mojdis), the track represents one of the most personal chapters of the mini-album – a sonic reflection on rebirth after struggle and the fragile balance between pain and recovery. Driven by Simen Sandnes’ (Evergrey, Shining, Temic) powerful drumming and EpicAlien’s layered guitars and atmospheric orchestrations, the song builds a bridge between cinematic melancholy and metallic intensity.

“Inside The Worn Shell” opens the EP symbolizing the moment of awakening after darkness – peeling away the old shell to reveal a renewed, though scarred, self. The track’s dynamic blend of orchestral depth, heavy riffs and emotional melodies showcases Alien Orchestra’s signature style merging metal, ambient and soundtrack elements into a cohesive and  immersive experience.

The song was mixed and mastered by Drop RMX at Downtone Studio together with EpicAlien going on with the collaboration that defines the sound of “Under My Pale Skin“.

ABOUT:

ALIEN ORCHESTRA is an Oslo-based cinematic metal project founded in 2014 by Jan Batista Mojdis, known artistically as EpicAlien. Initially conceived as an experimental studio act, the project quickly evolved into a unique blend of heavy metal, cinematic orchestration, ambient and trailer music, merging the intensity of metal with the grandeur and emotion of film scores.

Alien Orchestra’s music often draws inspiration from science fiction, cosmic exploration, underwater worlds, and the vast Nordic landscapes, transforming these themes into soundscapes that feel both otherworldly and deeply human.

The project’s early releases, including the debut EP Fall of Mars and the single Dark Nordic Dramæ, established its distinctive atmosphere and storytelling approach. In 2021, EpicAlien returned to writing after a long battle with leukemia and a bone marrow transplant, channeling his experience of struggle and rebirth into a new creative cycle.

The result is the new mini album Under My Pale Skin — a deeply personal work that narrates a journey through pain, healing, and hope. Featuring renowned guests such as Mats Haugen (Circus Maximus) on guitars and Simen Sandnes (Evergrey, Shining, Temic) on drums, the EP marks a turning point where Alien Orchestra solidifies its identity as a metal-driven yet cinematic act.

As EpicAlien himself describes it, Alien Orchestra represents “the meeting point between the human spirit and the cosmic unknown — where heavy metal riffs collide with orchestral emotion and alien soundscapes.”

Stockholm’s high-voltage rock trio Satan Takes A Holiday return with I Can’t Stop Thinking About It, out November 6th via Icons Creating Evil Art — a fierce, swaggering take on The Dirtbombs’ 1998 garage-rock classic, featuring Shady Lady & the Malefactor and Danne McKenzie.

Fresh off a successful Nordic tour, Satan Takes A Holiday keep the momentum going as they continue to roll out tracks from their forthcoming 2026 covers album, Covering Our Tracks. This time, drummer Danne McKenzie steps out from behind the kit and takes the lead vocal mic, channeling raw energy and Detroit grit in equal measure.

Listen on streaming services here

The band shares:

“We’re massive Mick Collins fans — both The Gories and The Dirtbombs are deeply embedded in our band’s DNA. So when we set out on this exciting covers project, paying tribute to one of garage rock’s all-time greats was a no-brainer. I Can’t Stop Thinking About It was an easy pick. We’d been looking for the right track to let Danne take the lead on vocals, and this one had everything: attitude, swagger, and effortless cool.
To take it up another notch, we brought in our friends from Shady Lady & the Malefactor. Shady Lady brought her undeniable energy, while the Malefactor — Stefan Brändström (Henry Fiat’s Open Sore, producer at Studio Dustward) — laid down his signature, legendary guitar vibrato.
If OP were a song — this would be it.”

The collaboration captures the unfiltered electricity of the original while injecting it with Satan Takes A Holiday’s unmistakable sonic DNA — gritty guitars, swaggering rhythm, and an infectious sense of danger.

Shady Lady & the Malefactor, fronted by Shady Lady (vocals/guitar) and Stefan Brändström (guitar/production), are a Stockholm-based act known for their razor-sharp mix of sleaze, punk, and dark glamour. The duo have released a 7”, a 12”, and a string of digital singles, with their debut full-length album due in early 2026 via Push My Buttons and Beluga Records.

I Can’t Stop Thinking About It follows Gettin’ Away with Murder (featuring Nicke Andersson of The Hellacopters, Imperial State Electric, Death Breath), and You’re the One That I Want, marking the next chapter in the band’s ongoing exploration of the songs and artists that shaped their sound.

With previous praise from BBC 6 Music (including Iggy Pop), Classic Rock, Louder Sound, Rock Hard, and Sweden’s P3 and Bandit Rock, Satan Takes A Holiday remain one of Scandinavia’s most thrilling and unpredictable forces in rock.

JIM PETERIK & WORLD STAGE are proud to share their new single, “Between Two Fires (feat. Kevin Cronin),” taken from the upcoming album, ‘River of Music: The Power of Duets, Vol. 1,’ due out on December 12th via Frontiers Music Srl. The new track arrives alongside a visualizer, available to view below.

With ‘River of Music: The Power of Duets, Vol. 1,’ JIM PETERIK — Grammy-winning songwriter and founding member of The Ides of March and Pride of Lions and formerly of Survivor — delivers one of his most personal and inspired projects to date. This new chapter in the WORLD STAGE legacy is a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of collaboration, where each song becomes a shared story told through harmony, emotion, and musical chemistry.

On “Between Two Fires (feat. Kevin Cronin),” JIM PETERIK shares:

“’Between Two Fires’ is one of my favorite song collaborations and vocal duets of all time. Our voices and writing styles have always seemed to blend. In all the many years I have known Kevin, touring with and writing with him, our mutual respect has always shined through.”

Produced by the legendary Ron Nevison, whose name is synonymous with the golden age of AOR thanks to his work with Heart, Foreigner, and countless others, ‘River of Music: The Power of Duets, Vol. 1’ carries the unmistakable warmth and polish of classic rock records, while embracing a sense of intimacy and freshness that speaks to PETERIK’s enduring creative fire.

Across ten tracks, ‘The Power of Duets’ showcases PETERIK’s gift for melody and his ability to connect with artists across generations. On the title track “River of Music,” he shares the microphone with his son Colin Peterik, capturing a father-son bond rooted in music. That chemistry returns in “Slow Lightning,” a moment of atmospheric beauty that blends poetic lyrics with cinematic instrumentation. Elsewhere, PETERIK trades verses with REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin on the stirring “Between Two Fires,” and finds common ground with Jason Scheff (formerly of Chicago) in the contemplative “The Cadence of Things.”

Vocalist Toby Hitchcock (Pride of Lions) brings fire and range to two standout moments — “Soul of My Being,” a soulful duet with Bree Gordon, and a powerful reinterpretation of the Survivor classic “In Good Faith,” sung alongside rising star Kaity Heart. PETERIK and Kaity Heart also deliver “I’m a Survivor,” an original anthem that echoes the resilience and passion at the core of his songwriting.

Other duets include the radiant “Double Rainbow” with Jefferson Starship’s Cathy Richardson, the emotionally rich “Waiting for You” performed by Dave Mikulskis and Bree Gordon, and the uplifting “Everything You Need,” which reunites JIM and Colin Peterik one more time. Backed by a stellar cast of musicians including drummers Denny Fongheiser and Ed Breckenfeld, bassists Tony Franklin and Bob Lizik, guitarists Phil X and Mike Aquino, and keyboardists Kim Bullard and Jim Peterik, the album is as sonically powerful as it is emotionally resonant.

This is only Volume 1: with Volume 2 already on the horizon, the river of music continues to flow, stronger than ever. JIM PETERIK & WORLD STAGE remind us that in music, as in life, true power lies in the beauty of connection.

The 2026 edition of DESERTFEST BERLIN just turned up the fuzz and drifted deeper into the void, as more mind-bending acts join the already eclectic line-up!

From the sunburned deserts of California, NEBULA bring their fuzz-soaked, interstellar riff rituals – pure cosmic fire. Portland’s BLACKWATER HOLYLIGHT summon a dark, dreamlike blend of heavy psych and ethereal melody, where doom meets hypnosis. Sweden’s EF shape vast post-rock landscapes, full of emotion and light, stretching beyond the horizon. Switzerlands fuzz prophets FOMIES channel raw desert spirit through sun-cracked distortion and groove, while FUZZ SAGRADO (ex Samsara Blues Expieriment) deliver hypnotic, groove-driven stoner rock rooted in thick tones and jam-heavy flow. Seattle’s MONSTERWATCH erupt in a storm of grunge and punk fury, reckless and cathartic. And from the streets of Mexico City, CARDIEL will ignite the DESERTFEST BERLIN stage with their skate-punk–meets–psychedelic fuzz revolution – political, wild, and unstoppable.

Today’s new additions crank the line-up to the next level, joining a first wave that already boasts heavy-hitters like RUSSIAN CIRCLES, HERMANO ft. JOHN GARCIA, THE SWORD, KING BUFFALO, ACID KING, TRUCKFIGHTERS, EARTHLESS, and many more!

MASTER to Re-Issue “The Spirit of the West” on Vinyl, Out January 23rd

Metal pioneers Master, one of death metal’s founding bands, have announced the release of Spirit of the West on vinyl, which will be out on 23rd January via Hammerheart Records.

Pre-orders are now available here: https://master.lnk.to/thespiritofthewest

The Spirit of the West blends death metal, thrash metal, punky moments, and even a country song into one diverse offering. Rather than dissecting every track, here are a few highlights to give you a sense of the album’s range. The album kicks off with the thrashy ‘You’ll Be Blamed’, which recalls the earlier Collection of Souls album with strong Abomination tendencies. Similarly, ‘Sign Up’ delivers old-school thrash metal complete with those signature harsh Speckmann vocals. ‘The Serpents Tongue’ is a straightforward, uptempo death metal tune, as is ‘Whatever, Wherever, Forever’. Meanwhile, ‘The Perfect Family’ comes closest to the d-beat Master sound fans came to love on their first two albums. A pleasant surprise arrives with ‘Pistols, Whips and Coyotes’, which channels Macabre‘s riffing style, albeit with slightly simpler drumming. Had Dennis the Menace played on this track, it could easily pass for a Macabre song. The album’s punky attitude shines brightest on ‘Rights of Life’ and ‘Envy’ both of which evoke 1987–1991 era Sodom. The most notable track is the punk-driven ‘Another Day in Phoenix’, which features clean vocals and stands as one of the album’s undeniable highlights. Finally, the closing cover of Johnny Cash‘s ‘Ring of Fire’ trumpets and all, caps off the record in unexpected fashion.

Spirit of the West is one of Master‘s most diverse and surprising albums to date.

Track-list:
1. You’ll Be Blamed
2. The Serpents Tongue
3. Rights Of Life
4. Envy
5. Sign Up
6. Another Day in Phoenix
7. Whatever, Wherever, Forever
8. The Gold Mine
9. The Perfect Family
10. Pistols, Whiskey and Coyotes (The Spirit of the West)
11. Long Knives
12. Ring of Fire

In the genre of heavy music, heavy metal demands your attention with its raw power and pure adrenaline. Through the years, this now classic formula of loud sounds often played in minor keys for that eerie effect has morphed into several subgenres. This form of extreme metal was super-charged and turned into what is now death metal. Make no mistake; Master were the leaders, right from the beginning and continue to be at the top of their game. Master is death metal personified.

There are just a handful of innovators that have proven to have the sheer determination and drive to create the monumental sound of a band armed with their weapons of Master‘s destruction. Paul Speckmann has been there since the very beginning of death metal. A voice of the people and sending his messages loud and clear with constant touring and bringing his music to the world.

Among this group of audio assassins, Paul is gearing up for the next target of annihilation; A steady requirement of endless touring, recording, and writing his view of life as seen through his eyes. Paul creates songs that are topical for an audience he admires and respects. Paul and Master continue to terrorize, obliterate, and demonstrate the need to sanctify and satisfy the audience as this entity continues to grow.

WHITECHAPEL Present New Video ‘Prisoner 666’

WHITECHAPEL is pleased to present their new video for “Prisoner 666.” The track comes off of the band’s Hymns In Dissonance full-length, released earlier this year on Metal Blade Records.

Comments vocalist Phil Bozeman, “‘Prisoner 666’ was the first song we wrote and musically feels like the 2014/2021 WHITECHAPEL morphing back into the 2006-2010 WHITECHAPEL and continuing the 2006-2010 era for the rest of the album. This is the beginning of the narrative of ‘the last living son’ of the Father Of Lies coming to be. Relinquishing his faith, religion, burning the church, and serving Satan, who he believes is his father.”

Adds guitarist Alex Wade, “It’s got heavy ‘Saw Is The Law’ [from the band’s 2014 Our Endless War full-length] vibes in the opening groove; it’s like we took that song and made it more epic and melodic. The ‘beats per minute’ are pretty similar to ‘Saw….’“

WHITECHAPEL will return to US stages next week on the Rituals Of Hate headlining tour. The journey makes its way through over two dozen cities from November 12th through December 14th and will see the band perform Hymns In Dissonance in its devastating entirety alongside some old favorites. Support will be provided by Bodysnatcher, Angelmaker, and Disembodied Tyrant. Find tickets and VIP upgrades at: whitechapel.soundrink.com

WHITECHAPEL‘s Hymns In Dissonance finds the band reinventing themselves, going darker, deeper, and heavier than ever before. Revolver lauded “a blistering attack of ground-fissuring blasts, terror-thrashed guitar melodies and guts-hucking mosh sections.” Metal Injection concurred noting, “it’s heavy as shit, it’s unrelenting, and it will destroy you.” MetalSucks championed, “one of WHITECHAPEL’s heaviest offerings since the glory days of The Somatic Defilement and This Is Exile,” adding, “It captures that same raw energy and mouth-frothing rage in a way that… hasn’t been seen for quite some time, but with a new and improved modern twist borne of the nearly twenty years of experience they have accumulated since then,” while Blabbermouth hailed the band’s “…white-knuckle, weaponized deathcore with brains, brawn, and a point to prove. Hold on to your helmets.”

The record earned the #2 position on Billboard’s Current Hard Rock Albums chart, #3 on Independent Label Current Albums chart, #4 on the Current Rock Albums chart and #7 on the Digital Albums chart upon its first week of release.
