British metal singer BLAZE BAYLEY has been inducted into the Metal Hall of Fame, where he now sits alongside the likes of Judas Priest and the late great Ronnie James Dio who was Blaze’s earliest influence prompting his ambition to be a heavy metal singer.

Amongst his fellow inductees in the recent ‘virtual’ ceremony were Paul Di’Anno and Derek Riggs (like Blaze, both members of the Iron Maiden family) plus members of KISS, Triumph, Stryper and also Marty Friedman.

Blaze says… ‘This is wonderful for me to be inducted into the same Hall of Fame as Ronnie James Dio, my inspiration. Thank you very very much indeed’

Blaze recently released a lyric video for the title track from his critically acclaimed ‘War Within Me’ album released in April this year, celebrating a return to playing live shows with a UK tour now in course with the following 2021 dates coming up…

September

18: Blackpool, Waterloo
19: Stoke, Eleven
24: Norwich, Waterfront
25: Sheffield, Corporation
October

Blaze started his career in Wolfsbane before being poached in 1994 as the new singer in Iron Maiden, a position he held until Bruce Dickinson’s return in 1999. He subsequently carved out a solo career for himself, proving especially prolific with 7 releases (4 studio, 2 live, 1 acoustic) during the past five years sparked by the success of his Infinite Entanglement trilogy. The latest in his now impressive body of work is ‘War Within Me’ which has attracted very positive media comments, for example…

His best to date… hints of Iron Maiden and the precision of classic Megadeth’ – Malcolm Dome, Metal Hammer

‘Blaze Bayley is making the best music of his career right now, and War Within Me is an object lesson in passion and potency’ – Dom Lawson, Blabbermouth

Blaze is joined on the UK tour by special guests Absolva who have made a name for themselves in their own right as melodic British metal exponents, whilst doubling as Blaze’s backing band from 2013 to present date. Absolva frontman/guitarist Christopher Appleton is also Blaze’s co-writer and co-producer.

Looking ahead to 2022 there is a European Tour planned with several dates already announced, and more to come, whilst the release schedule is awaiting further confirmation soon. Blaze’s website is http://www.blazebayley.net

CRADLE OF FILTH Release New Single + Music Video for ‘Necromantic Fantasies’

After shaking the world in its foundation with the announcement of their 13th manifesto, “Existence Is Futile”, that will see the light of the day on October 22nd, CRADLE OF FILTH gather again to bring their next sacrifice to the devilish forces of Dark Metal: Today, the band reveals the second single of their new album to come – “Necromantic Fantasies”.

Directed by Vicente Cordero, this video was shot back-to-back with his previous work for the band, the horribly apocalyptic ‘Crawling King Chaos‘, though both are remarkably contrasting.

Dani Filth had this to say of the latest video to enter the Cradle catalogue:
“This is a very different video from its predecessor, sporting more of a narrative amid leaning back toward a dark Victorian gothic vibe, showcasing the second of many unique tracks on this, our 13th album.
It’s very cinematic, much like Crawling King Chaos, but walking a much more ‘dark faerytale’ path. The director Vicente has done such an amazing job bringing the storyline together with the band and the incredible sets. It looks gorgeous. And the song is pretty good too!”

Preorder “Existence Is Futile” here: https://bfan.link/existence-is-futile.ema

Pieced together in isolation, at Grindstone Studios in Suffolk with studio guru Scott Atkins (Devilment/Benediction/Vader), the band’s latest chef-d’oeuvre is a pitch-black, perverse and at times absurdly brutal and extreme masterpiece following a truly nihilistic concept:

“The album is about existentialism, existential dread and fear of the unknown,” frontman Dani Filth explains. “The concept wasn’t created by the pandemic. We’d written it long before that began and it is really but the tip of the mountain as far as the way the world is headed, you know?I guess the title, »Existence Is Futile«, does sound a little morbid. But again, it’s more about recognising that truth and saying that everything is permitted because nothing really matters, which mimics the occultist Aleister Crowley’s maxim. We all know we’re going to die, so we might as well indulge life while we possess it. The final track on the album – ‘Us, Dark, Invincible’ – really drives that point home. Also, the artwork for this record was created by the Latvian visionary Arthur Berzinsh, who also dressed the last two albums, and that reeks of the exceedingly beautiful yet apocalyptic too.”

Diehard fans will be thrilled to learn that horror icon Doug ‘Pinhead’ Bradley makes a welcome return to the CRADLE fold, lending his dulcet tones to the band’s most politically astute song to date, the epic ‘Suffer Our Dominion’ as well as the album bonus track ‘Sisters Of The Mist’, which is the conclusion to the ‘Her Ghost In The Fog’ trilogy that started over 20 years ago on the infamous and classic “Midian“.

“Existence Is Futile” consists of 12 new tracks with a total playing time of 54 minutes:
The Fate Of The World On Our Shoulders
Existential Terror
Necromantic Fantasies
Crawling King Chaos
Here Comes A Candle… (Infernal Lullaby)
Black Smoke Curling From The Lips Of War
Discourse Between A Man And His Soul
The Dying Of The Embers
Ashen Mortality
How Many Tears To Nurture A Rose?
Suffer Our Dominion
Us, Dark, Invincible
Sisters Of The Mist (Bonus track)
Unleash The Hellion (Bonus track)

DION Releases All-New Album “Stomping Ground” on November 5th

DION is following up his critically acclaimed and commercially successful 2020 album release Blues With Friends with Stomping Ground, a new album that finds him collaborating yet again with music greats with whom he shares mutual admiration. Set for release on Friday November 5th, Stomping Ground was produced by Wayne Hood with Dion and will be released through Joe Bonamassa and Roy Weisman’s KTBA Records. The album will be available digitally as well as on CD and as a two-LP vinyl set and can be pre-ordered HERE.

Most of the album’s songs were written by Dion and his song writing partner Mike Aquilina.  Guest artists appearing on tracks with Dion include Boz Scaggs, Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, Patti Scialfa, Bruce Springsteen, Billy F Gibbons, Keb’ Mo’, Sonny Landreth, Joe Menza, Mike Menza, Marcia Ball, Jimmy Vivino, Rickie Lee Jones, Wayne Hood, Joe Bonamassa and G.E. Smith with Pete Townshend’s liner notes which Dion describes as “amazing.”

The album was preceded last month with the release of “I’ve Got To Get To You,” a track featuring Boz Scaggs along with the father and son guitar team of Joe and Mike Menza.  This week marks the release of “Take It Back,” on which Dion is joined by Joe Bonamassa. Watch the official music video for “Take It Back” HERE.

Next month (10/13) will see the release of “Angel In The Alleyway” that features Patti Scialfa (vocals) and Bruce Springsteen (guitar and harmonica).

The album’s notes include a foreword by Pete Townshend, which reads, in part:

“Dion, like a circling star that never fades, generates the energy and fire we need to pull ourselves up and start again.  Dion is a star who knows well how to start again, how to keep shining.  He looks at his watch every few years. Damn, let’s make a record!  Take care. This one will blow those little white things in our ears right into your brain.”

Beyond Townshend’s literary contribution, Dion provides a track-by-track description of all the album’s 14 selections, the sole non-original being “Red House,” the Jimi Hendrix song that has become a blues standard. On Stomping Ground, Dion is joined by Keb’ Mo’ on that song.  Dion notes, “We had a blast grooving on ‘Red House.’ I’m honoured to have him join me on this Jimi Hendrix cover/tribute.  We did it as only we could. I think Jimi would approve!”  It’s worth mentioning that the follow-up single release to Dion’s 1968 smash hit “Abraham, Martin and John” was “Purple Haze,” serving to underscore the connection that Dion has long had with the legacy of Jimi Hendrix.

There’s more Dion news. The Wanderer, a musical based on the life and music of Dion will stage its world pre-Broadway premiere at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ on March 24, 2022.  Michael Wartella (Wicked) stars as Dion, alongside Christy Altomare (Anastasia) as Susan, Dion’s wife. Original New Kids on the Block member Joey McIntyre (Waitress) plays Johnny, Dion’s best friend.  The Wanderer was written by Charles Messina (A Room of My Own) and directed by Kenneth Ferrone (Cruel Intentions) and choreographed by Sarah O’Gleby. Tony Award-winner Beowulf Boritt is the scenic designer. The Wanderer is produced by Paper Mill Playhouse in association with Jill Menza and Charles Messina.

‘80s Metal Heroes AUTOGRAPH Release Their Treasured Collection Of Demos On Deluxe 2LP Gatefold Vinyl

Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: AUTOGRAPH. Leave a comment

In 2011, Steve Plunkett, founder and lead vocalist for ‘80s metal guitar heroes AUTOGRAPH, shocked the world with the release of a monster collection of early demos recorded before the band’s 1984 debut album Sign In Please. Titled The Anthology and released only as a 2CD set, the collection included an early version of the band’s signature hit song, the unforgettable hair banging classic “Turn Up The Radio,” with one noticeable difference: in the song’s chorus when Plunkett implored listeners to “turn up the radio,” he apparently wasn’t content to just repeat the line and instead insisted we also “turn up the tape machine!” Later, when the band re-recorded the song for Sign In, the lyric was changed and the rest is history. But that’s not all there is – these fantastic recordings contain no less than six demos of songs that would appear on their 1984 landmark album, plus several tracks that were never released anywhere else!

Now, this treasured collection has come to vinyl in a super deluxe gatefold jacket with full liner notes from Plunkett explaining the origin and history of each track. Turn Up The Radio – The Anthology is available in your choice of RED or BLUE vinyl!

THEATRES DES VAMPIRES Release New Album ‘In Nomine Sanguinis’ on November 19th

Horror metal prophets Theatres Des Vampires are back with their long-waited new album ‘In Nomine Sanguinis’, which will be released on November 19th by Scarlet Records.

Tracklist is as follows:

1.          Death in Venice
2.          Endless Darkness
3.          Christina
4.          The Bride of Corinth
5.          Lady Bathory
6.          My Cold Heart
7.          In Nomine Sanguinis
8.          Golden Cage
9.          The Void Inside
10.    Till the Last Drop of Blood

Theatres Des Vampires return to the scene of the crime with an extraordinary effort: stylish cinematic and horror orchestrations, smart dark electro sounds and lush catchy/poppy vocal lines will resonate in your head through all these meticulously crafted ten new songs.

Written and produced by Riccardo Studer (Time Collapse Recording Studio, Rome) and beautifully illustrated by Francesco Benvenuti (photo) and Francesca Colella (graphics), ‘In Nomine Sanguinis’ combines the sensual touch of the Italian band with renowned songwriting brilliance and elegance, shaping the ultimate gothic metal pinnacle.

Some of the intriguing lyrics conceived by leader and frontwoman Sonya Scarlet have roots in decadent romantic literature such as Goethe’s ‘The Bride of Corinth’ and Francis Marion Crawford’s ‘For the Blood Is the Life’; others represent a descent into the abyss of the human soul and the very esoteric nature of life.

Overall, ‘In Nomine Sanguinis’ is the quintessential modern vampiric manifesto.

HATE Release Epic Video for New Single ‘Resurgence’

On October 15th, HATE will release their new album, Rugia, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the record, the epic video for the 2nd single “Resurgence” can now be viewed below.

The previously released title track can be heard at: metalblade.com/hate – where Rugia can also be pre-ordered in various formats.

No one combines death and black metal quite like Poland’s Hate. With unflinching viciousness and a sense of atmosphere unique to the band, on Rugia, their twelfth full-length, they push the boundaries of their craft even further. “It was clear to me that it should build upon and evolve from our previous record, ‘Auric Gates Of Veles’ (2019), both musically and lyrically. However, every Hate record stands as a separate journey, and never twice to the same place. You never know exactly where it will lead you,” states vocalist/guitarist ATF Sinner, who has led the band since 1991. Fresh blood in the band’s line-up also helped contribute to Rugia‘s unique sound. Pavulon (drums), who had played with the band since 2014, was forced to step down from the band due to serious health issues. The band tapped Nar-Sil (Neolith, Virgin Snatch, Embrional) to take his place. “Working with a new drummer this time around was a fascinating experience for me. Nar-Sil’s technique and presence are quite different from Pavulon’s, and that definitely comes across. I believe we managed to construct a refreshing new chapter to our discography, composing nine truly sinister onslaughts of pure rage.”

The band elected to once again track the album in the Hertz Recording Studio in Poland, and it was recorded, mixed and mastered by the Wiesłaski Brothers (Behemoth, Decapitated). Everything was laid down over about two to three weeks, with longtime collaborator Michał Staczkun providing the ambient elements of the band’s sound. The only struggle came about at the mixing stage, where the final character of the record emerges. “Here we encountered many problems, contradictory visions too. The producers had their own idea for the overall sound, which differed from what I had in mind, so we were trying to find a good compromise and it took us a few months.” Given how strongly the personality of the record shines through, it is safe to say that the compromise reached was definitely in its best interest, standing as perhaps the best sounding record in the band’s long career. Hate is also celebrating thirty years of activity with Rugia, Sinner affirming he is as driven as ever. “Well, the fire is still burning! I’m proud that I have built a band with such strong energy, that’s lasted for a long time in spite of numerous line-up changes and obstacles in our way. We are still here and we create with ever growing consciousness and dedication. The energy speaks through us. Honestly, I think of the band as something much bigger and more profound than the individual people involved in it over any given period of time. I believe we create a channel for energies that surpass us.”

Rugia track-listing
1. Rugia
2. The Wolf Queen
3. Exiles of Pantheon
4. Saturnus
5. Awakening the Gods Within
6. Resurgence
7. Velesian Guard
8. Sun of Extinction
