Some bright mind within the STRUCTURAL camp decided to use the lock-down phase of the pandemic to ponder the question: What would Louis Armstrong‘s “What A Wonderful World” sound like, desecrated, broken down and re-structured into progressive, technical death metal?

The result, dear Corona-world, is something like this! “What A Wonderful World” – a bright light in a world, where death, pandemic and global warming-destruction is looming.

Shani Friedman (guitars) on the video:
We wanted to take the time to remind you what a wonderful world we truly have, even if sometimes it looks chaotic, so we present to you today the happiest song we’ve ever played!

Finnish Poetic Core Act MARTO Release Lyric Video ‘Solus’

Finnish poetic core act MARTO have released a lyric video for Solus, which is taken from the upcoming Sine Nomine EP. The video can be viewed via Rockhopper Music YouTube channel HERE.

Hailing from Pori, Finland, Marto was formed at rehearsals by four members of post-metal band atlases (signed to Lifeforce Records) less than a year ago. After spending years playing atmospheric metal, the members decided to do something different and started to create music that blends extreme grindish elements with different shades of metal. Instead of writing about guts and skeletons, which are commonly used in this kind of music, the band decided to use Finnish poetry in their lyrics.

Soon after writing the material to Sine Nomine EP, the band was signed to Rockhopper Music, a label that had been on a hiatus for a decade.

LineUp
Nico Brander – guitar (Atlases)
Ville-Veikko Laaksonen – guitar (Atlases, ex-Oceanwake)
Arttu Leppänen – drums (Atlases)
Jesse Simola – vocals (Atlases)
Ville Vuorinen – bass

Despotz Records is very happy to announce their latest signing with PORT NOIR. The band will  release  their first track December 3rd ‘All Class‘ from the upcoming album that will be release next year, 2022.

Port Noir is one of those rare bands that, try as you might, are impossible to fit into a neat box. Mixing edgy, contemporary dark pop, R&B, and rock into a sound that is both unique and refreshing. Hailing from Sweden, the band have released three critically acclaimed albums (the brand-new album is imminent) and toured extensively, including support shows with the likes of Karnivool, Leprous, Kaiser Chiefs, In Flames, Vola, Pain of Salvation, as well as prestigious festival appearances including Eurosonic ESNS.

Now, 2021 – Port Noir returns with a glorious slice of progressive dark pop/alt-rock on new single ‘All Class’ taken from their upcoming new album, the band once again push the envelope with a track that blends the electro/rock influences of Enter Shikari with direct pop suss of recent Royal Blood. Driven by a powerful percussive backing, elevated by wonderful vocals and an unforgettable hook, ‘All Class’ is Port Noir 3.0 in technicolour perfection!

Vola Witness Tour Scandinavia 2022, Port Noir on tour support;
19.03.22 – HELSINKI (FI)
20.03.22 – TAMPERE (FI)
22.03.22 – STOCKHOLM (SE)
23.03.22 – OSLO (NO)
24.03.22 – GOTHENBURG (SE)
25.03.22 – COPENHAGEN (DK)

PORT NOIR’s previous album (‘The New Routine’) saw a significant increase in listeners/streams, pushing the band’s support of over 7 million streams, as well as garnering fantastic support across the press and radio. They have been reviewed by Distorted Sound Magazine, Lounder Sound, Gaffa,  Metal.de,  Everything is Noise, Time For Metal, World of Metal to name a few. Like everyone else, everything came to grinding halt with Covid for the band, but, undeterred, they utilized their down time and began working on new songs and new ideas, all which culminated in some of the band’s most diverse, eclectic, and powerful new material to date. As you’ll witness when the new album arrives in 2022.

Members: Love Andersson (Vocals, Bass), AW Wiberg (Drums) and Andreas Hollstrand as a session musician (Guitar). Produced by Port Noir / Vocals & Synths/FX recorded by Port Noir. Recorded by Daniel Bergstrand (Devin Townsend, In Flames, Behemoth) alongside Fredrik Thordendal (Meshuggah). Mixed & Mastered by Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna).

Subsound Records to Re-Release ABORYM Debut Album “Kali Yuga Bizarre” on Vinyl And Tape

Set for release on January 28th, Subsound Records has announced the reissue of ABORYM‘s debut album “Kali Yuga Bizarre”. Originally released in 1999, with “Kali Yuga Bizarre” ABORYM have created a work full of surrealism and emotions, containing nine tracks with the band’s intense and very own mixture of industrial soundscapes and atmospheric black metal. A powerful epic and highly varied opus, and one that, in retrospect, also reflects the grandiose and determinedly avantgarde direction extreme metal was taking at that time, its dramatic synths and soaring, clean vocals providing a nod to progressive music.

At this time, and as a result of the departure of vocalist Yorga SM during the finalization of the album, the band sought a new singer to complete the last few tracks of the album, soon finding a replacement in MAYHEM vocalist Attila Csihar, who became the sole vocalist on the band’s follow-up, 2001’s “Fire Walk With Us!”.

In a way, “Kali Yuga Bizarre” in particular was prophetic for the high-level experimental industrial rock mood ABORYM reached through the 2021’s worldwide acclaimed album “Hostile”, through which the band consolidated its definitive uncompromising abandonment of extreme metal music style and its so called “scene”.

Fabban of ABORYM about the album and the re-release:

“It was 23 years ago. In 1998 we entered the Temple of Noise studios to record what would be the first Italian experimental extreme metal album ever released, Kali Yuga Bizarre. The record was released on April 1st. 1999 through Scarlet Records, and we owe so much to Stefano Longhi who believed in us and who signed us up! Maybe not the best production ever, but it was the start of a long long career in music that we wouldn’t have wanted to be without! Fortunately we found our own sound later on, but this record will always stand there as a homage to our roots! Now you can get your vinyl version, thanks to Davide Subsound Cantone and Subsound Records“.

“Kali Yuga Bizarre” line-up:
Fabban (bass, synths, programming)
Yorga SM (vocals)
Sethlans (guitars) | Nisrok (guitars)
Attila Csihar (vocals on Darka Mysteria, The First Four Trumpets, Hellraiser)

Set for re-release on January 28th via Subsound Records, “Kali Yuga Bizarre” will be available worldwide and for the first time ever in the following formats:

  • black vinyl
  • limited blue vinyl
  • ultra limited splatter vinyl
  • tape

Pre-orders now open at the following locations:
