AEON Reveal Details for New Album ‘God Ends Here’, Launch Lyric Video for First Single “Church of Horror”

On October 15th, AEON will release their new album, God Ends Here, via Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the record, a lyric video for the new single, “Church of Horror”, can be viewed at: metalblade.com/aeon – where God Ends Here can be pre-ordered in various formats.

With 2012’s Aeons Black standing as one of the defining death metal albums of the twenty-first century, it has been a long wait for the follow up. In 2021, Sweden’s Aeon finally return with its successor, God Ends Here, and in doing so only up the ante with a record that is bigger, harder and stronger in every way. A darker, even more epic collection, it is everything an Aeon fan could want with a few surprises in store, pushing the genre in new directions, and once again asserting that they are one of the most important bands in extreme metal.

The main reason for the gap between records lies in finding the right drummer, having had a few pass through their ranks in the interim, Dark Funeral/Imperium drummer Janne Jaloma now manning the kit. Making his recording debut with the band is also bassist Tony Östman, who joined in 2013, during the touring cycle for Aeons Black. Guitarist Daniel Dlimi, who departed the Aeon fold in 2013, also returned to the band’s ranks in 2019, which inspired guitarist Zeb Nilsson to write, having really missed collaborating with him.

Drums were recorded in Jaloma’s own Studio Starköl, guitars and bass in the band’s own Rise to Dominate Studio, and the vocals were recorded at Metallfabriken Studio, where some guitar re-amping was also done. Producer Ronnie Björnström, who presided over Aeons Black, once again oversaw proceedings, making sure everything sounded as big as possible. Expanding the sonic palette are strings and choirs, the orchestral elements primarily programmed by Nilsson with Dlimi handling those on “Mephistopheles”, while Nilsson wrote the choir parts. With dramatic artwork by Italian artist Paolo Girardi the final piece of the puzzle, the finished package extends Aeon‘s legacy and gives the genre the push that was intended from the outset. They may have been gone a long time but make no mistake: Aeon are back, and God Ends Here will lay waste to all.

CANDLEBOX Release New Single “All Down Hill from Here”

Seattle multi-platinum rock band CANDLEBOX have released “All Down Hill from Here,” a new single from their upcoming album, Wolves.

Vocalist Kevin Martin co-wrote the song with Christopher Thorne of Blind Melon. The inspiration behind the song came from the two long-time friends musing on the fleeting nature of fame. Martin says, “It can be challenging to be an artist who has enjoyed great success, and then down the line, still has great fans, but never really achieves that great success again. A lot of our friends in bands are in that position now. It’s a story I think a lot of people can relate to, not only musicians. Like the boxer who’s on his last legs, he still has an opportunity. You really can’t count anyone out.”

Stream “All Down Hill from Here” here: https://orcd.co/qqaqjx9

Wolves is Candlebox’s seventh studio album and drops worldwide on September 17, 2021, on Pavement Entertainment. The album will be available on all formats (CD, vinyl, and through digital outlets). Working with producer Dean Dichoso in Los Angeles’ legendary Henson Studios for Wolves, Martin’s goals included creating a different record for Candlebox, which gives Wolves a fresh modernity in terms of sound and explores new territory.

Two songs from Wolves, “Let Me Down Easy” and “My Weakness,” are available to stream now. “Let Me Down Easy” is an aggro, blues-based rocker with a booming bass and edgy guitar riffing, co-written with old Seattle pal Peter Cornell, Chris Cornell’s older brother. “My Weakness” is a love song that melds the honesty of Bryan Adam’s “Summer of 69” and passion of Springsteen’s “Born to Run.”

THE HELLFREAKS Sign International Record Deal with Napalm Records

Hungary’s finest sonic-shifting punk/metal upstarts THE HELLFREAKS just signed an official record deal with Napalm Records!

THE HELLFREAKS on the signing:
“We’re thrilled and proud that we can reveal one of the biggest news in our history – our signing to Napalm Records! The last decade was a hell of a ride for us and especially the pandemic right after our latest album release hit us pretty hard. Who’d have thought that this could turn into such a happy end? But you can be sure that this is not the end, this is just the START! We can’t imagine a better partner of supporting our vision of music, of mixing metal aggression with the attitude of punk ✊

We always stood for strength and were the voice for those who are done with collecting more scars, but now we’re stoked on a whole new level and are ready to make all our freaks and our new label proud!”

With a stellar discography and millions of streams, THE HELLFREAKS have been on the insider tip for many fans around the globe. The band recorded their first demo in 2009, followed by the massive psychobilly-punk hit “Boogie Man” (the video has over six million streams on YouTube) and their debut album, Hell Sweet Hell.In 2014, it was time for change, and the band switched up its lineup, leaving their accustomed sound behind them for good. With more of a focus on punk-meets-metal, THE HELLFREAKS continued to hone their songwriting chops and grow their fanbase at the same time, culminating in the release of their critically acclaimed, fan favorite album, God On The Run (2020).

And THE HELLFREAKS wouldn’t be themselves if they weren’t equally hungry for more – immediately releasing a brand new single/video to announce the signing. “Old Tomorrows” is the perfect introduction with singer Shakey Sue’s trademark catchy sing-along-screams and cleans with the band’s high paced alt metal groove as the backbone, and is destined to become a punk rock anthem for new and longtime fans alike.

Watch the video for “Old Tomorrows”HERE:

THE HELLFREAKS on the new single:
“With “Old Tomorrows” we would like to welcome you in our new era! If “Old Tomorrows” would get manifested, you would face an ageless architect who is planning an indestructible bridge between generations. Most of us grew up being told to respect our elders in any case. The box was ticked. But it’s just not working like that. As the world is changing quickly the gap between all generations is constantly growing. While elders are expecting respect for their experiences, youngsters feel unvalued, as their potential seems to be ignored. We’re pointing out each other’s differences, while not seeing that the disrespect comes from the same root – we’re not doing things the same way. It’s time to accept that we’re not better than the other, but that we can get a better version of ourselves if we open our minds. “Young mistakers, old days chasers, let’s become generation breakers!””

Finland’s very own OCEANHOARSE are about to get set for the release of their highly anticipated debut studio album, entitled “Dead Reckoning“, out this Friday on Noble Demon!
With former and current members of well-known acts like Amoral, Warmen and others, the foursome delivers exactly that kind of album you would hope to get from such experienced people. Featuring 13 tracks, loaded with crushing riffs, vocal harmonies and high voltage arrangements, “Dead Reckoning” shows a band willing to explore things in their very own style, instead of sticking to any kind of average formular.

In support of the new album and to celebrate the upcoming release in glorious style, OCEANHOARSE just unleashed a brand new video clip for the melodic and groove-laden heavy metal anthem “From Hell to Oblivion”!

“From Hell to Oblivion” represents Oceanhoarse at its most melodic, and it just might feature the biggest chorus on the album. The lyrics talk about false lighthouses, the inability to see warning signs in advance and how history keeps repeating itself, usually in pretty depressing ways…” the band comments.

“Dead Reckoning” drops this Friday, August 20th on Noble Demon and is available for pre-save and pre-order at THIS LOCATION

Tracklist:

  1. Headfirst
  2. Locks
  3. Betrayed by Light
  4. One with the Gun

  8. The Intruder

St. Louis horror metal trio THE LION’S DAUGHTER will be performing a concert stream via Knotfest.com’s official Twitch Channel on Friday, August 20 @ 5:00 P.M. PDT/8:00 P.M. EDT! You can watch the stream at THIS LOCATION.

The band is supporting their latest release, ‘Skin Show,’ which is out now!

‘Skin Show’ could serve as the soundtrack to Times Square in the 1970s – the epicenter of sin and salacious misdeeds; a haven for sex, drugs, and crime beneath the inviting glow of neon signs from sleazy adult video stores; a place one would not dare walk alone after midnight unless tempted by devil himself. Its deviant, raw, nasty, disturbing, and yet, the most lively, evolved, and polished version of the trio yet.

‘Skin Show’ can be streamed, downloaded, and ordered HERE.

The band is now sharing the eye-opening and intense video for the second single, “Burn,” which can be seen and heard at THIS LOCATION.

Singer/guitarist Aðalbjörn Tryggvason has always worn his vast musical influences on his sleeve. Be it an ENTOMBED sticker emblazoned on his guitar, queueing up Ennio Morricone before a set, or paying homage to Lemmy Kilmister with his cowboy sensibilities, it’s no secret that his love for music cannot be contained to any one genre. Now, Tryggvason is taking his adoration for crust punk to an exciting new level with his latest project, BASTARÐUR, which channels influences such as NAPALM DEATH, TERRORIZER, MOTÖRHEAD, and DISFEAR.

“The idea of writing death metal in the vein of old ENTOMBED came in 2018,” Tryggvason says on the project’s inception. “Not being able to channel my love for such music through my main band [SÓLSTAFIR], I began writing riffs, and riffs became songs, and all the sudden it had more crust punk elements than I had foreseen.” And yet, despite the apparent departure from SÓLSTAFIR’s sound, Tryggvason’s signature voice and brief moments of atmospheric texture color the record in familiar shades that ring true to his core musical identity.

The band was born during personal turmoil, a prime example of turning a negative situation into a positive opportunity. “Living with my parents after a relationship break up and being unemployed, I set up a small studio in my dad’s garage, and after a few months there was an album of material,” explains Tryggvason. “Me and my good mate Birgir Jónsson, most known for his work with Icelandic metal act DIMMA, had for years talked about making music together, and this seemed the perfect time, so we got ourselves into a studio with former SÓLSTAFIR live sound guy Jóhann and recorded the album in a few days.”

Tryggvason tapped several other co-conspirators to contribute towards his vision. Guest vocals are attributed to Marc Grewe (MORGOTH/INSIDIOUS DISEASE) and Alan Averill (PRIMORIDIAL), the latter of whom also penned the lyrics on two of the album’s tracks. Some of the blistering guitar solos were handled by Ragnar Zolberg, whom SÓLSTAFIR fans may know as he has filled in on bass for the band during occasional live shows, and Thrainn from SKÁLMÖLD. “I dare to call them Hanneman/King of Iceland,” Tryggvason says of the talented pair of axmen.

BASTARÐUR’s debut also takes a cue from Tryggvason’s distant musical past and rudimentary beginnings. “I used to be in a punk band called BÖLVUN, where I played drums,” he explains. “’Afturhalds Kommatittir’ is from that band, so we got Ingi Thor Pálsson and Flosi Þorgeirsson to play on that song. Flosi also does a bass solo on ‘Viral Tumor.’

Now, after three years in the making, BASTARÐUR is finally ready to make its debut via Season of Mist!

Guest musicians:
Guest vocals on “Neonlight Blitzkrieg” by Marc Grewe
Vocals on “Black Flag Fools” by Alan Averill
Backing vocals on “Afturhalds Kommatittir” by Ásgeir Trausti, Júlli T og Siggi Hjálmur.
