Canadian powerhouse vocalist LEE AARON has had a lengthy and musically adventurous career that spans many kinds of different styles like rock, jazz, blues, opera and more.
But there’s one project this multi- Juno nominee had considered often but the timing was never right…A Christmas album.
Lee and her band (Sean Kelly-guitar, Dave Reimer-bass & John Cody-drums) had tossed around the idea of a Christmas album over the years, but there was always something – tours/recording/life etc. – that kept the project on the back burner. 2020 and Covid-19 brought a new reality.
With their shows around the globe cancelled there was suddenly an abundance of time. Over the summer, the band began releasing a series of Rockin’ from Home videos for fans, which escalated , so when the Christmas idea came up again in mid-September, it was a definite go.
“Each of us had upgraded our home studios, so we thought, heck yeah! We’d always wanted to do this, the only issue was that we should have started sooner! Realistically, we only had about a month to get all the tracks done, but it became a fun mission – and it kept us all from going stir crazy during this down time!” says Aaron. “…and the last thing we wanted to create was a rehash of the same old songs so many other folks have already recorded. One or two classics maybe, but If we were going to do this, we wanted to make it really unique and different. It was such a blast putting it all together!”
Almost Christmas contains lovingly curated tunes – from the foot-stomping rock n’ roll ride of the feature track “It Doesn’t Often Snow at Christmas” (Pet Shop Boys) to the classic “Baby Please Come Home” to a sassy version of Louis Armstrong’s “Zat You Santa Claus?” – winding down with the introspective “All I Ever Get For Christmas is Blue” (Over The Rhine) and an acapella rendition of Joni Mitchell’s timeless “The Fiddle And The Drum.” You’ve never heard Christmas done quite like this.
She also presents a brand new version of her 1991 hit “Peace On Earth” which likewise, is as relevant now as it was when it was first released.
Aaron explains “There’s a ton of passion and joy that went into these recordings. The album represented something really positive and hopeful that we could all focus on during this unprecedented down-time. It was a gift that lifted our spirits and we hope it has the same effect on others.”
Last year, the album could only be ordered via Lee Aaron’s own shop and will now be available in stores for the first time with the addition of two new songs.

CANDLELIGHT RED released their new single “THE FLOOD” to all major platforms via IMAGEN RECORDS today! This will be their first single off of their forthcoming EP, also titled THE FLOOD.
The Flood marks the band’s first release since 2013 and features Morgan Rose (Sevendust) producing as well as playing drums on the record. It was recorded by Jose Urquiza (3 Years Hollow), mixed by Jay Ruston & Jose Urquiza and mastered by Andy Van Dette.
After an unofficial hiatus since 2014, Candlelight Red entered the studio in East Moline Illinois with Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose, who not only once again produced the band but collaborated on writing and filling drumming duties on the record.
The band toured the US extensively from 2010 to 2013 in support of their albums The Wreckage & Reclamation while their singles “Demons” , “Feel The same” and their cover of Roxette’s “She’s Got the Look” blazed the airwaves. Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro heavy riffers STONE HOUSE ON FIRE will release their third full-length, Time is a Razor, on 28th January 2022 via Electric Valley Records. The maiden track, “Bitter Times,” from the record is available on all digital/streaming platforms.
Stone House on Fire comments on “Bitter Times”: “Time is a Razor’s opening piece, a hard-hitting frenzy surrounded by the late ’60s hazy atmosphere and present day’s bitterness. ‘The future won’t matter to those who survive the present.’”
Find “Bitter Times” on DSPs AT THIS LOCATION and visit Bandcamp or Webstore of Electric Valley Records to pre-order (starts 18 Nov 2021) vinyl/merch.
Stone House on Fire can be described as a Brazilian late ‘60s/ early ‘70s throwback rock band with unique contemporary twists. The group creates its own identity by mixing heavy psychedelic elements, Latin spices with classic fuzzy guitars, some blues, and live jam performances. Paying an homage to both old and new influences with no fear to explore unfamiliar atmospheres, the Volta Redonda four-piece captures the feeling of a familiar, nostalgic place with a whole new flavor added to it, resulting in a visceral, energic sound.
An active live band that relies heavily on jams and experimentation, Stone House on Fire has toured across Brazil with several psychedelic/doom bands. They frequently played gigs arranged by Abraxas (Brazil’s biggest label on the scene), including appearances on Abraxas Festivals as a supporting act for The Flying Eyes and Mars Red Sky. During their European tour, they shared the stage with Samavayo and Atavismo, and played venues in Switzerland, Germany, France, and the Czech Republic.
On the upcoming outing, Time is a Razor, Stone House on Fire went heavier, trippier, and more outré than ever, often retaining and often destabilizing the previous songwriting modus operandi. Throughout the six tracks, the psych contingent roamed about desert highlands, outer spaces, and unearthly territories, like a society of trippers, always ready to journey to the unknown or discover a chorus of delirium from the unreal.
Choose wisely, either enter Stone House on Fire to survive the present or carry the weight of the future and the past.
