FERNANDO FERNANDES Releases Video for Debut Single ‘Horizonte’

After a successful premiere on the 16th edition of the Roadie Crew Online Fest a month ago, the musician and guitarist FERNANDO FERNANDES released last Friday 13th, the video for his debut single “Horizonte” on his YouTube channel. An instrumental track widely praised both by specialized media, as well as big names in the Rock/Metal scene.

Produced, directed and edited at M&H Studios, in Sao Bernardo dos Campos (Sao Paulo/Brazil), and with the images captured at Studio Rising Power, in Santo Andre (Sao Paulo/Brazil), the video features the participation of the current drummer of the band Nigro, Sica Correia.

The guitarist, composer and guitar teacher from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Fernando Fernandes (Mind Dusk, Mortalha, ex-Circo de Fantoches), released “Horizonte” the first instrumental single of his solo career on all traditional streaming platforms on April. Although dedicating himself to classes and his band Mind Dusk, Fernando still started his solo project by recording “Horizonte” in honour of his cousin and guitar teacher, Joao Paulo Schiviatte de Almeida, who tragically died in 2010 after being run over by a car.

Recorded at M&H Studio (@meh.studio), “Horizonte” was produced by Ricky Franco (@h_rickyfranco) and mixed/mastered by renowned producer Michel Villares, with all guitar and bass lines recorded/composed by Fernando, guest drums by Ricky Franco and cover art by designer Emerson Soares.

“Horizonte” brings a sound that mixes in an impactful and very technical way, classic Heavy Metal with more progressive passages and many rhythmic changes, strongly influenced by names like Iron Maiden, Van Halen, Rainbow, Dream Theater and Yngwie Malmsteen, who transport the listener to another dimension.

Fernando Fernandes comments: “I wrote this song at a time when I was in mourning. All the riffs have been improved over the years and inspired by great guitarists whose works still influences me today, such as Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, John Pettrucci, Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, Adrian Smith, Dave Murray and Ritchie Blackmore. My guitar masters and teachers are Marcelo Alves, Joao Paulo Schiviatte (RIP) and Bruno Godinho (Hibria) who taught me melody, technique and improvisation. After the death of my cousin and teacher, one thing that helped me to overcome this loss was music, as I immersed myself in studies with a lot of discipline and always seeking to evolve.”

Raw is the title of the new Nick Mantoan record. Over 13 tracks, big riffs, open choruses and rock n roll attitude mix with modern sounds and flavour. These are straight to the point songs with no jokes and no doubts. Nick is very attached to blues roots and good old rock n roll, but he wants talk with a contemporary language which make the songs and style his own.

On this album you can find tracks about global current issues where Nick points his finger against intensive farming (Stuck Him Up), the brutality of humans not taking care at all of our planet (Ruins) and how television can shape our minds (Raw Test Tv Show).

On some cuts you’ll find really deep, intimate and personal feelings including life stories about fear (Freezing My Bones), the amazing and joyful experience of being a father (Faces and (C’mon) On My Shoulders) and very hard relationships (She Has Gone). Of course, you can also find the rough rock ‘n’ roll songs about pirate attitude (Trouble Maker), explosions (Boom), wild parties (Feel The Beat), life on the road (Stop ‘n’ Go), sex (Sexy Girl) and dream radio (Slam Radio).

“Raw because everybody can understand that, Raw because it is straight to the point, Raw because it is Rock ‘N’ Roll.”

ARTIFAS Release New Single “Cut Me Out”

Hard rock band ARTIFAS released their new single “CUT ME OUT” via Imagen Records! The single is from their forthcoming album titled Reflections due out November 19, 2021.

“Cut Me Out is about cutting toxic people out of your life. Sometimes the most toxic people around you are the ones that are not so easily removed. At some point you have to stand up and say enough is enough, cut me out. The artwork for this record is all about reflection. Whether it’s someone in a dark place reflecting the poor decisions made, or whether someone is reflecting the beauty of the world on front of them” says the band.

Listen to ‘Cut Me Out’ HERE.

American Hard Rock band Artifas was formed in 2011 in Jackson, TN by lead guitarist Cody Criswell and lead vocalist Scottie Somerville. In the months following, the two founders of the group would immediately recruit an assortment of hometown musicians and begin looking to record their debut EP. After having a long and ugly encounter that resulted in the theft of all the bands funds and receiving no album in return, the original incarnation of the group would spend 2012-2013 doing several independent tours and writing music. After debuting with their EP Enemy Inside in 2013 and doing numerous regional/national tours in support of it, the band replaced former members with guitarist Mikey Miller, bassist Anthony Mattox, and drummer Jared Wainscott.

With almost two years of touring with the new lineup under their belts, Artifas inked themselves a record deal and hit the studio to make their first full length album. The 2015 release of the title track, “Inhuman,” would bring the band some commercial success, reaching # 32 on Billboard’s Active Rock chart and sending the band on the road in support of their new album. The band landed tours with established artists like Theory of a Deadman, Shamans Harvest, Pop Evil, Saint Asonia, Aranda, and others. The follow up single from that record, “Blood 4 Blood”, would later get picked up by the World Series of Fighting and subsequently land a feature in the UFC movie “Fight Valley”. The band parted ways with their record label in 2016, and remained on tour throughout the US for most of the following year, also traveling internationally for the first time with the likes of Papa Roach, Hoobastank, P.O.D., Trapt, and Sick Puppies to play for our American Troops.

Multiple tour cycles later, Artifas found themselves back in the studio making new music. The band worked with multiple writers and producers throughout the entirety of 2018, but would ultimately only find themselves frustrated with the recordings that resulted. After a soul search within the group, Artifas elected to embrace their own vision and write/produce their next album independently, free from the creative overreach of outside influence.

After two years of writing, recording, and mixing, Artifas has completed the new album, and plans to unleash it upon the world. With catchy guitar riffs, dizzying drums, and soaring melodies, Reflections will send you on an emotional journey, exploring the band’s semi-prog, radio rock sound while diving deeper into the human complex with lyrics centered around self awareness and the bands own struggles with mental health. The goal for the creation of this album was to make a record that met the band’s expectations and you can rest assured they held nothing back. Mixed and Mastered by Forrester Savell (Twelve Foot Ninja, Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus), Reflections promises to wow you with musical prowess, all the while delivering Artifas’ important message on unity, inspiration, and the sempiternal battle between dark and light.

Staying true to the promise they made their fans, Artifas has been on hiatus since their last show in October 2019, working, learning, and preparing for the release of their new album and the beginning of a new chapter in the ArtiStory.

SHOTGUN FACELIFT Confront Their Critics in New “Bury Me” Music Video & Single

Posted by tarjavirmakari on August 17, 2021

Melodic groove-metal band SHOTGUN FACELIFT have revealed a new music video for their defiant new single “Bury Me”. The music video was directed by Kevin Ackley from Chamber Six Media. Watch it right now at this location.

“Bury Me” is the first single from the band’s second full-length album Dakota Blood Stampede which was produced by Tyler Pilot (Over You, Body By Torture, Anomic) at Red Dot Recording. The album is scheduled for a worldwide release on December 17, 2021 via Eclipse Records. Pre-order or pre-save the album here.

“Bury Me was the perfect choice as our first single from this album. The idea of being chased down, made to dig our own grave, being bound and then buried alive was the ultimate metaphor for the opposition this band has faced in the entire existence of our musical career,” says lead vocalist John Huber. “The idea that our lifestyle and musical brand will lead us to personal ruination is difficult to get away from in such a conservative area of the country. So, rather than fight it, we embraced it!” Drummer Jody Smith adds, “Our guitarist Damian was the lucky member chosen for the task of burying John alive. It was real dirt, and it was really thrown in John’s face in a continuous shot as he screamed the lyrics out loud. He had it in his eyes, up his nose, and a bunch in his mouth, he’s a trooper man… I also got to punch him in the gut while he was being gagged and tied up, sorry brother!“

Dakota Blood Stampede by Shotgun Facelift is an exhilarating album. It was recorded with the band’s live energy in mind, and sought to capture it. As a result, this album is as real as it gets. The band tracked every song playing together, all at once. When someone messed up, everyone had to sit in on a do-over. It was exhausting for the band and their producer Tyler Pilot, but the proof comes through in the recording. The energy there is unmistakable, but more important is the deep and personal nature of the songs on the album… With the first single “Bury Me” the band fires back at the conservative culture in their home state of North Dakota. With so many in the local scene praying for the band’s demise and even wishing actual harm upon the band members for being in a heavy metal band, the song shows their resistance in being able to stand up against them, embrace their hatred, and use it to become stronger. “Suicide Eyes“, is about the eyes of addiction, abuse, and despair. The band takes mental illness very seriously, and they write about it a lot in a non-exploitative manner because every band member suffers from some form of it deeply. “5 Dollar Bastard” is another song which is deeply personal to the band, especially vocalist John Huber. Many years ago, he had a loved one hand him a check for what he thought John was worth, valuing him at just five dollars. He never forgot that moment, how it made him feel to realize what this person really thought of him, and he wrote the lyrics for this song as a statement of conviction to make that individual choke upon that five dollar debt. If there ever was an album where a band “lets it all hang out” while confronting their demons, Dakota Blood Stampede is it!
