Polish black metal band MISANTHUR will be releasing their debut record ‘Ephemeris’ on October 15, via Season of Mist Underground Activists! The band is now premiering the second single from the record, “On the Heights of Despair.” Listen at THIS LOCATION.

MISANTHUR comments: The second single ‘On the Heights of Despair’ was inspired by the book with the same title, written by one of the most prominent philosophers of nihilism – Emil Cioran. The dark, heavy and eerie atmosphere is intertwined with the soothing yet cruel cathartic moment. The song expresses the loathing of the passing time but also shows the dimmed fire of hope in one’s mundane existence, which is perfectly connected with the full concept of the upcoming debut album, ‘Ephemeris.'”

Pre-sales are live in the Season of Mist shop HERE.

The artwork for ‘Ephemeris’ was created by Januz Miralles.

1. Enter the Void (07:44)

6. Ephemeris (06:21)

UNDER THE INFLUENCE (UTI) Release New Single ‘Puerto Escondido’

Australian Punk act UNDER THE INFLUENCE (UTI) have today released their new single ‘Puerto Escondido’ via Riot Records on all digital platforms. Once again, there is no holding back as UTI deliver up another scathing punk statement.

‘Puerto Escondido’ was inspired by a surf trip UTI’s guitarist took to Mexico a few years back, where he was violently threatened by locals to leave ‘Puerto Escondido’. This song screams for equality and unity between different countries and cultures alike. We are all connected and need to work together. We’re all humans and the earth is our home. Shared with the animal kingdom, plants and fungi, Earth needs to be protected, respected and shared. If we can somehow find a way to work together there may still be hope for future generations.

Listen/Buy ‘Puerto Escondido’ HERE

Under the Influence (UTI) have released some killer hardcore/punk tracks over the last 12 months such as ‘Moon Flavoured Magnets’, ‘Cobra Spit’, ‘Gone’, ‘Body Parts’ and ‘Crows’, which has further established them as one of Australia’s premier punk acts.

“Here’s the third and final single taken from our EP ‘Nights Of Summer Side’. Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams’ is another masterpiece which we absolutely had to pay tribute to. For the occasion I had the chance to duet with the talented Giorgia Colleluori, probably the best hard rock/metal singer in Italy. We couldn’t ask for better!“, comments the band’s singer and leader Raffaele “Raffo” Albanese.

“Even if Covid-19 pandemic forced us to stop our live and rehearsal activities, we decided to keep us busy. We started recording a cover for the production of the upcoming album. Shortly the project became bigger, and we recorded 3 singles just for fun. Everybody loves those songs and we still headbang when we listen to them! It was really funny, and we hope the listeners will love them as much as we do. And if you are looking for some real heavy metal, don’t worry you won’t have to wait too much…”, comments the band.

FROM THE DEPTH is a power metal band formed in Parma (Italy) in 2008. With the first stable line-up they released the first demo “The Will To Be The Flame” which let them get their first label deal to release the first worldwide distributed album “Back To Life”. With the album going sold out quickly after the release, they toured among many European festival alongside bands like Megadeth, Sonata Arctica, Overkill, King Diamond, Iced Earth, Moonspell, Lordi, Sabaton, Rhapsody Of Fire, DragonForce and more. The band underwent a series of line-up changes that brought the latest members with two guitars and no keyboards, giving the band a more “aggressive” approach. FROM THE DEPTH is currently signed to Rockshots Records and they’re endorsed by Solar Guitars.

HELMET Announce First Live Album “Live And Rare”, Out November 26th

MALIBU, CA – July 12, 2016 – Helmet, rehearsal – photo by Jacob Blickenstaff

HELMET have never released a live album throughout their decades-spanning career. Page Hamilton recalls: “After persuading our label folks in Hamburg to bake these old tapes we finally managed to mix 2 live shows for release. Side 1 was recorded at CBGB’s which was our neighborhood club, a 10-minute walk from home. We all spent plenty of time at CB’s and though this is not our audition night set, it captures the early frenetic energy of the band as well as my lack of scintillating stage banter.

In 1989 I walked in off Bowery through the creaky swinging doors and plastic- slat, meat locker style curtain into the greatest rock club in the world, CBGB’s. Apparently, David Byrne (a musical hero of mine) was not sympathetic to the rent scandal that ultimately forced CB’s to close but I am a maudlin old fool and have great memories from our time there. We became a better band by playing that stage a lot and I saw some of the best shows ever in that room.

Owner Hilly Crystal and manager/booker Louise Parnassa sat facing each other, west and east at desks up front and barely looked up to acknowledge me. Louise, a very pretty and seemingly dour (I got to know her a bit and she is sweet and lovely when she’s not dealing with hundreds of dipshits in rock bands) Jersey girl said “can I help you?”. I handed her our first recorded music on a cassette tape with hand silk- screen torture helmet artwork from a Spanish Inquisition book and an umlaut over the “M”. The songs, Born Annoying, Rumble, Shirley Maclaine and Geisha to Go were done at Don Fury’s 8 track Soho basement studio; she said “I might listen in a couple of weeks. If you wanna play sooner, audition”. She signed us up for the first available date which was that Sunday (maybe Monday?).

We played with a Night Ranger style rock band, one dude wore a thigh bandana and a singer/songwriter girl wearing a long Loretta Lynn kinda dress. Mike Kirkland and Tommy Victor of the band Prong did the door and FOH that night. Mike later told me he wrote in the CB’s notebook ‘cool band, book with Cop Shoot Cop or Unsane’. Louise told me a few years later we were like “ice picks in her forehead” but she thought I was cute (paraphrasing here, think Jersey alphabet…fuckin’ A, fuckin’ B, fuckin’ C) so she booked us almost monthly. “Murder”, “Repetition” and “Sinatra” were brand new, so this show was pre-Strap It On, year zero. Henry probably still had dreadlocks, Peter wore Beatle boots and skinny legged- pants; John and I always dressed like 12-year-olds so no, it wasn’t some brilliant Helmet marketing scheme as a few bitter downtown hipster turds claimed. For $50 the FOH engineer would record your set on CB’s 2” 16 track tape machine. I’m pretty sure our friend Brian Childers who was the singer for a cool band called Crawlpappy was manning the desk.

I’m glad we shelled out the money; if you were one of the 30 people there you helped pay for this live album. Thanks.

Side 2 is part of the set from the Big Day Out festival in Melbourne, Australia. Our first trip down under is a bit of a blur after almost 30 years but the memories I have are fond. A brief escape from the frigid NYC January dreariness was welcome relief. Unbundling at Bondi beach, surrounded by beautiful topless women sunbathing next to the clear, clean, warm water of the Tasman Sea was soundly beating the 6-flight walk-up, grocery-schlep to my east village apartment while wrapped up like ‘Nanook of the North’. The shows, hmmmm. My performance was no doubt effected by all the fun in the sun and copious amounts of alcohol (red label Coopers mate). Someone did manage to run a 2” 24 track tape machine during our set at the Melbourne Big Day Out; thanks are due to those folks. We’ve had these tapes collecting dust in the band locker (New Jersey pre-2001, North Hollywood since) for all these years so we enlisted our talented pal Toshi Kasai to mix some of the set and Golden Mastering to polish things up.”

“Live and Rare” will become available on November 26th, 2021, on Heavyweight Black Vinyl as well as a CD Digipak Edition and Digital.

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE Release ‘Shatter’ Video

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE have released “Shatter,” the third single from their forthcoming self-titled album Bullet For My Valentine, and it’s another absolute rager.

“We’re very excited for you all to hear our new track ‘Shatter,’” the band says. “It’s one of our personal favorites and we’re pretty sure it’ll be one of yours. It’s an absolute sledgehammer of a track with riffs for days. Let the head banging commence!”

Watch the video for “Shatter” here.

The visualiser for “Shatter” is a visceral and instinctive moment in the new Bulletvisual era. For this project, frontman  Matt Tuck collaborated with creative director Fiona Garden and her husband, artist Ben Ashton.

Using tactile optical elements, smashing endless panes of glass, and getting covered in oily black paint, Tuckworked hands-on with Garden and Ashton to create a physical mood that was both “cavernous and claustrophobic.”

Fiona Garden adds, “These hypnotic abstract visuals were then fed into the fearsome and instinctive creative machine behind ‘Knives’ and ‘Parasite’: editor Sara Faulkner and VFX artist Gabriel Thomas Ayache. The clip features, as always, the design edge of Carl Addy (ulcerboy.)”

Bullet For My Valentine will be released October 22 via Spinefarm/Search & Destroy.

“I think it’s the most ferocious side of Bullet For My Valentine that I’ve ever known,” says lead guitarist Michael “Padge” Paget. “It’s time for us to put out a really angry, heavy, aggressive record. I just can’t wait to grimace on stage!”

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE TRACK LISTING:
“Parasite”
“Knives”
“My Reverie”
“No Happy Ever After”
“Can’t Escape The Waves”
“Bastards”
“Rainbow Veins”
“Shatter”
“Paralysed”
“Death By a Thousand Cuts”

Tuck began writing the album in September 2019 before the coronavirus pandemic brought things screeching to a halt in early 2020. But in June 2020, Tuck and longtime producer, Carl Bown, who co-produced the band’s 2015 album, Venom, and produced and mixed Gravity, picked up the pace again. Together, they hunkered down at Treehouse Studio in Chesterfield, where the remainder of the album was written.

Pre-orders for Bullet For My Valentine’s seventh studio album are now live, which include an instant download of singles “Knives,” “Parasite,” and “Shatter,” are available here.

Special bundle options are available, including a unique clipping from the backdrop used on the bands Venom world tour from 2015-2017, t-shirts, hoodies, gold and silver cassettes, and limited vinyl.
