SAXON Announce New Album “Carpe Diem”, Out February 4th, Unleash New Single for Title-Track

Life hath no fury like a legend in full roar… and on February 4th, 2022, SAXON will show just that to the world when they release their 23rd studio album, Carpe Diem, through Silver Lining Music, serving notice to anyone who ever felt otherwise that they remain both vanguards and masters of British Metal. Comprised of 10 titanic tracks bristling with steel-clad riffery and proud intent, the Barnsely (UK) born band draw on a variety of ingredients from their career to forge what is their most dynamic release in many a year.

“It all starts with the riff,” says front man and co-founder Biff Byford, “if the riff speaks to me, then we’re on our way. It’s a very intense album, and that’s all down to the fact that the essence of a great metal song is the riff that starts it, and this album has loads of them.”

Unleashing today the title track’s roll-back attack, this is Saxon at their purest and most definitive; aggressively parading the pure metal flag and imploring fans old and new to gather and celebrate the very best of both Saxon and the genre itself.

“In Latin it means ‘seize the day’ and I think it’s a great thing to say;” continues Biff “it’s what the Romans used to say to each other on a regular basis, apparently, never having met one, I wouldn’t know! But we’re gonna do the Seize the Day world tour, the album’s Carpe Diem, this song’s called “Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)” and it’s such a powerful thing to say.”

Listen To/Watch “Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)” here

Carpe Diem will be available in a variety of formats and pre-orders can be placed at this location

Produced by Andy Sneap (Judas Priest, Exodus, Accept and Priest guitarist) at Backstage Recording Studios in Derbyshire with Byford and Sneap mixing and mastering, Carpe Diem strikes the ear as one of the most essential British metal statements of the last few years and not lacking in pace or bite, an album which will ignite the joy in stalwart supporters and attract a whole new legion to the Saxon fold.

“We want every album we make to go platinum,” says Biff defiantly. “We never make an album that we don’t expect to be fantastic because there are no laurels around here, and as a band, we’re always trying to do something a little bit new, a little bit daring. I love fast metal like “Princess of the Night” and “20,000 Feet”, and I try and bring that style of Saxon into the music now, but in a more modern style. We don’t sound like an old band on records because we’re not sitting back on our past success, we’re always trying to make a great album.”

The genesis of Carpe Diem’s fierce intensity lies in two extremely significant life events

“It’s been a difficult two years,” offers Biff with considerable understatement, “because I had the heart attack back in September 2019, so things went a bit pear-shaped for the band. And then Covid hit two or three months later, but luckily, we started writing and recording this album before Covid. We did the drums in Germany and we did the guitars in various places. I was doing a lot of writing while I was in the hospital bed, and we spent quite a long time writing and arranging the ideas that we all had. I do think it’s a very intense album, and maybe some of that intensity comes from the frustration of not being able to do anything in the Covid period.”

AFM Records is thrilled to announce that DYMYTRY and AFM Records will team up for common future and releases. With this collaboration, the self-titled “Psy-Core” act takes the next big step towards expansion. Together with their new singer Alen „A.L.“ Ljubic and AFM Records, the boys from the Czech Republic came to conquer Europe and the rest of the world.

“We’re happy to announce that we have joined the AFM family and we are looking forward to release our first international album “Revolt“ on the 14th of January, featuring our new English-speaking singer Alen “A.L.” Ljubić on vocals.  – DYMYTRY.

With more than 1000 concerts, five successful studio albums and a platinum award for their current album “Revolt”, DYMYTRY is already very successful and well-known in Czech Republic.

For their next big step, the band installed a second front singer Jan “Protheus” Macků, the newest member Alen on board, who re-recorded the album “Revolt”, sung in Czech, into English. The result: DYMYTRY will continue to work with “Protheus” in the Czech Republic, but also with Alen on the international market.  The brand-new English version  of the successful “Revolt”  album will be released on January 14th, 2022 via AFM Records and marks the beginning of a new time period for a band that achieved so much yet and will achieve so much more in the future.

“Four years ago we came up with the idea of expanding our musical operating radius beyond the Czech Republic. We probably wanted to get out of our comfort zone and try something new and different. After translating a few of our tracks into English, we started to look at the option of playing some shows abroad,” explains bassist Artur “R2R” Mikhaylov. After a joint single with German act Hämatom in September 2018, both bands went on tour together in October 2018; these were DYMYTRY’s first shows outside their home country. Mikhaylov: “The tour proved to us that our music also works for an international audience, and in English.” So the band decided to take this remarkable step.

So, Europe get ready for THE successful modern metal band from Czech Republic!

SCORPIONS Share ‘Peacemaker’ Single from 19th Album “Rock Believer”

German rock icons SCORPIONS are set to release their brand-new single “Peacemaker” today, November 4, to whet their fans’ appetite for their upcoming album Rock Believer, scheduled to be released on February 25, 2022  — an amuse-gueule of the rock music variety straight from the metal quintet’s brand-hot kitchen.

Mind you, “Peacemaker” has turned into much more than simply a lead single. It’s a showcase number that has SCORPIONS celebrate their legendary tried and tested DNA in a fresh, tough sonic guise, a musical foretaste of their new album that promises to forge an arc between yesterday and tomorrow.

Listen to “Peacemaker” here.

Does a band whose musical career will span 50 years from the release of their first phenomenal album success Lonesome Crow to the arrival of Rock Believer in February 2022 still have the bite, the toughness, and the brute force that it takes to create and record one or two dozen brand new tracks? Aren’t their 18 studio albums to date, their platinum and double-platinum awards, garnered around the globe, enough for these relentless musicians? Is there still enough gas in the tank to keep going? One of their songs provides the answer to these questions: “Let’s play it louder play it hard / Laid back and a little dark / Give me a dirty riff my friend / There’s gotta be more gas in the tank.”

And indeed, “Peacemaker” sounds like it’s been freshly reimported from the heyday of a legendary hard rock band. “The first thing that came to my mind,” remembers SCORPIONS singer Klaus Meine, who wrote the lyrics to the song (music courtesy of Rudolf Schenker and Pawel Maciwoda) and produced the band with the support of Hans-Martin Buff, “was the hook line. ‘Peacemaker, peacemaker / Bury the undertaker.’ I was just playing around with those words. At a time when so many people have died and are still dying of COVID, from devastating wars and other senseless crimes, it makes you feel that the undertaker must be working overtime. In a peaceful world after the pandemic, it will be time for the peacemaker to rule… that’s an image that really appeals to me,” says Meine.

SCORPIONS are one of the world’s most important rock bands of recent decades, having sold more than 120 million records to date, played over 5,000 concerts, and created a timeless classic in their legendary single “Wind of Change,” which dominated the international charts and still is the best-selling single worldwide by a German artist. Countless awards, a star on the Hollywood Rock Walk of Fame, and more, hits such as “Rock You Like a Hurricane” and “Still Loving You,” among others, followed. Their success to date impressively underlines the influence that the SCORPIONS continue to have on the rock music scene. Their latest album Rock Believer will be out on Universal’s Spinefarm label in the U.S.

Rock Believer, the credo of their new album, will also be the moniker of their upcoming tour. In March and April 2022, the band is set to perform at the Planet Hollywood Resorts & Casino in Las Vegas as part of its residency, followed by a European tour scheduled to kick off with a number of shows in Germany in June 2022 — with more concerts on a global level in the pipeline.

SHOTGUN FACELIFT Start Stampede with New ‘5 Dollar Bastard’ Video & Single

Midwest groove-metal band SHOTGUN FACELIFT have revealed a new lyric video for their new single entitled “5 Dollar Bastard“. The lyric video was directed by Kevin Ackley from Chamber Six Media. Watch it right now at this location.

“5 Dollar Bastard” is the third single off of the band’s second full-length album Dakota Blood Stampede which was produced by Tyler Pilot (Over You, Body By Torture, Anomic) at Red Dot Recording. The album is scheduled for a worldwide release on December 17, 2021 via Eclipse Records. Pre-order or pre-save the album here.

“We didn’t really have any specific destination in mind for this video. We brought the song and lyrics to Kevin at Chamber Six Media and just told him to surprise us… we just trusted in him completely” says lead vocalist John Huber. “After he spent some days listening to the song and reading the lyrics, he came back to us with this idea of a pissed-off herd of cattle, spitting and stomping. Given the cover art for Dakota Blood Stampede and the skull on my mic stand, it was all very synergistic and made perfect sense! “ Rhythm guitarist Matt Person adds, “We knew pretty early on that 5 Dollar would be one of the singles. The energy of that song is crazy! When we play it live, it is certainly a crowd favorite… they chant the refrain really loud. It’s quickly become an anthem for us. It is a song we’re known for, and we’ll probably be playing it live for a really long time, if not leaving it in the setlist permanently.” Curt DeCamp (bassist) also adds, “the song was made to be played live, and that’s always been my favorite thing about it. What you hear on the album is exactly how it sounds in person. Every time that five-dollar-bastard chant kicks in, I don’t even hear John singing his vocals anymore, I only hear those people screaming it back to us. It’s a surreal experience to have the words to your songs screamed back at you by a crowd of people, and that live exchange of energy has always been so special to us!”

Dakota Blood Stampede by Shotgun Facelift is an exhilarating album. While tracking it in the studio, the band shot for perfect full-takes, avoiding overdubs and edits as much as possible. Producer Tyler Pilot was really able to capture the band’s “live energy” as a result and because of that, this album is as real as it gets. Every song on the album was tracked with the band playing together, all at once. When someone messed up, everyone had to sit in on a do-over. It was an exhausting process, but the proof comes through in the recording and the energy is unmistakable. More important however, is the deep and personal nature of the songs on the album. With the first single “Bury Me” the band fires back at the conservative culture in their home state of North Dakota. With so many in the local scene praying for the band’s demise and even wishing actual harm upon the band members for being in a heavy metal band, the song shows their resistance in being able to stand up against them, embrace their hatred, and use it to become stronger. “Suicide Eyes“, is about the eyes of addiction, abuse, and despair. The band takes mental illness very seriously, and they write about it a lot in a non-exploitative manner because every band member suffers from some form of it deeply. “5 Dollar Bastard” is another song which is deeply personal to the band, especially vocalist John Huber. Many years ago, he had a loved one hand him a check for what he thought John was worth, valuing him at just five dollars. He never forgot that moment, how it made him feel to realize what this person really thought of him, and he wrote the lyrics for this song as a statement of conviction to make that individual choke upon that five dollar debt. If there ever was an album where a band “lets it all hang out” while confronting their demons, Dakota Blood Stampede is it!
