New York death metal pioneers SUFFOCATION will release their new live album, Live In North America, on November 12th via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, the band releases the track video for the second single, “Pierced From Within”. Watch the video featuring photographs taken by Mike Randall, below.

Terrance Hobbs comments, “Hope you all enjoy this live version of ‘Pierced from Within’. This song has always been a staple of the SUFFOCATION arsenal as it’s one of our favorite musical pieces to play. When going through the live recording and figuring out which songs to tease this release we didn’t even have a second thought when it came to ‘Pierced from Within’ and we couldn’t be more proud of how this live version sounds. This song has transcended almost 3 decades and still holds its potency in our set to this very day as well as being intricate with breaking major ground for us in the death metal world since its original release. SUFFOCATION created the template for the brutal death metal genre in the early 90s. Landmark albums such as Effigy Of The Forgotten and Pierced From Within also went on to inspire the birth of the tech-death and slam death metal genres. With the departure of original vocalist Frank Mullen, the band marks an end of an era with a live album recorded live during his last North American tour. Mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson (BEYOND CREATION, CRYPTOPSY) this release plays like a “best of”, and is the perfect farewell to one of the most influential singers in extreme music. The artwork for the album was created by Jon Zig.

OBSCURA Forced to Postpone European Tour

Virtuosic extreme metallers OBSCURA have their sixth album “A Valediction” on the way, set to be released on November 19th through Nuclear Blast Records and the German combo around mastermind and founder Steffen Kummerer is more eager than ever to finally hit the stages again.

But unfortunately, these times are still challenging, and the tour had to be postponed to 2022.
Together with Andorra’s prog masters PERSEFONE and Germany’s progressive melodic death metallers DISILLUSION, OBSCURA will now hit the stages in September and October 2022 with an extensive run including 22 dates.

Steffen comments: “Unfortunately, we have to announce to postpone our European tour to September next year. Thanks to everyone involed the shows got moved, not cancelled. We are eagerly looking forward to celebrate our brand new album “A Valediction” on stages across Europe and see you soon.”

BEHEMOTH Release ‘Bartzabel’ from “In Absentia Dei”

The event was said to set a new standard for streaming events in the future and this was something BEHEMOTH set out to achieve from the start. Produced by Grupa 13, “In Absentia Dei” was presented as a show of four parts, woven with high-production theatrics and even a hellish flames emanating from all parts of the sacred building.

SWEET, featuring original guitarist Andy Scott, have released their new single Everything 2021 today, October 15th. The single is available via iTunes/Amazon/Spotify/Apple Music and all the usual platforms and is also be supported with a music video via the Sweet’s official YouTube Channel.

Sweet founding member and guitarist, Andy Scott said, “During the rehearsals for Sweet’s forthcoming Hellraiser UK Tourin November and December 2021, we were trying out various songs from our back catalogue that could be added to the set list. As soon as I heard Paul Manzi and Lee Small’s vocals on the song Everything, I knew that we needed to get it down and record it as our new single.” 

The song Everything 2021 is a total new recording. It was original featured on the album Sweetlife released back in 2002. “I think the new version is a far superior production,” says Scott. “It’s much closer to how I envisaged it when I co-wrote the song back in the day.”

Sweet embark on their “Hellraiser UK Tour” on November 25th. Special guest on all shows is Limehouse Lizzy. Tickets are available from www.thegigcartel.com. This is the Sweet’s first major outing since restrictions were eased due to the global pandemic.

Sweet are a British rock and roll institution with a pedigree of 50 years of hit singles. They’ve sold 55 million albums and had 34 number #1 hit singles. 21 years ago, the Swedish Heavy Metal powerhouse HAMMERFALL , travelled to Nashville to record their third album with legendary producer Michael Wagner, leaving the safe space that was Studio Fredman in Göteborg. 

Fredrik Nordström had recorded the two previous records, so naturally that was a huge change for the band.

The Wagner experience and the “Renegade” album turned out great, as we all know today.

For this anniversary edition, the band felt that they needed to close the circle and have Fredrik remix the Renegade album.
The result is “Renegade 2.0” which will be released via Nuclear Blast Records on November 12th in many beautiful formats and with a brand new album artwork made by famous cover artist Andreas Marshall,  which makes every HAMMERFALL fan heart beats faster!

Icelandic atmospheric rock ‘n’ rollers SÓLSTAFIR and Norwegian Sognametal brigade VREID have joined forces for a unique and spectacular event! Airing today, October 15, these legendary performers will unveil a collaborative concert stream in which they will transport viewers right from their living rooms to the breath-taking mountaintops of the bands’ respective homelands. The performance is free to watch, but generous fans may donate as they wish via VIPS and PayPal. The stream will air live at 3:00 P.M. EST // 19:00 GMT // 21:00 CET via the Season of Mist YouTube Channel and members from both bands will be in the chat!

The ACROSS project is a cinematic experience that brings two unique artists together to share their cultural identities and bridge the sea between the two fjords. Spectacular views of the Storehogen Mountain in VREID’s hometown of Sogndal, Norway and of Hellisheiði in SÓLSTAFIR’s native Iceland lay the majestic backdrop for this one-of-a-kind, 90-minute long digital streaming event. Each band’s signature sound rings through the cavernous expanse, creating a symbiotic musical dialog that can be heard from across the globe.

SÓLSTAFIR‘s Aðalbjörn Tryggvason comments: “Playing live music in sideways rain on moss grown lava. They wanted something Icelandic. Doesn’t get any more Icelandic than this.”

VREID songwriter and bass player Jarle Kvåle adds: “SÓLSTAFIR‘s and VREID‘s stories are two parallel stories of the north. In this weird world, our paths have crossed on several occasions and this time they have merged into something new.  This is the third streaming event VREID has done, and in many ways, it represents the end of a trilogy for us.
