MAJESTICA Release New Single ‘Glory of Christmas’

Last year, MAJESTICA released their new album “A Christmas Carol” as a wonderful Christmas gift for the whole metal scene. It’s pure symphonic power metal in the true MAJESTICA spirit along with elements inspired by the likes of TWILIGHT FORCE, RHAPSODY, ALAN SILVESTRI, DANNY ELFMAN and JOHN WILLIAMS. 

And this year, the band have again prepared a very special surprise for their fans: an extended version of the album, that will not only be available on vinyl, but that will finally complete the story surrounding the grumpy old Ebenezer Scrooge with two previously unreleased songs. “A Christmas Carol – Extended Version” will be out and getting you into the heavy Christmas spirit on November 12th, but the first new single, ‘Glory Of Christmas’ is already available today. It comes with a beautiful art video, drawn by vocalist Tommy Johansson.

The band comment: “When we released “A Christmas Carol” last year it was a dream come true to finally release a real Christmas album. But it was not available on vinyl, and we felt we had a bit more to give to complete the story.
So now we have added two new songs to the story where we get to know more of Scrooge’s hate for Christmas and also how scared such a powerful man can get when believing his judgment day is dawning.
With these two new songs we now have “A Christmas Carol – Extended Version”, which completes the story of Scrooge and his Christmas ghosts.
The first single “Glory of Christmas” is heavier than the previous songs, but the Christmas feeling hasn’t gone anywhere and it has one of the strongest choruses on the album.
During the upcoming tour in December people will hear the entire album from beginning till the end with the new songs.”

DION Releases “Angels In The Alleyways” Music Video Feat. Patti Scialfa & Bruce Springsteen

“Angel in the Alleyways,” a new track and video is out from Dion today. The song, on which Patti Scialfa and Bruce Springsteen are featured, was written by Dion and Mike Aquilina and is one of the selections from the forthcoming Stomping Ground album. Stomping Ground is set for release on November 5 through Keeping The Blues Alive Records.

The new track is the third Stomping Ground cut to have been made available in advance of the album. The two released earlier are “Take It Back”with Joe Bonamassa guesting and “I’ve Got To Get To You” with Boz Scaggs, Joe Menza and Mike Menza joining in.

Dion has long been known as a man of faith and “Angel in the Alleyways” reflects that in terms of its lyric and the setting of the video clip.  It was shot at the Monastery of St. Bernard de Clairvaux, a Spanish monastery constructed in the eleventh century.  It fell into disuse in the 1830s and was ultimately shipped in pieces to Miami where it was reconstructed in 1950s.  Patti Scialfa and Bruce Springsteen’s contribution was shot in their home studio. The song’s theme is one of abiding belief with a line that underscores Dion’s dedication to the blues:

An angel walks
An angel prays
By your side at night unseen in the alleyways
Who guides the hand that comes to play?
Like BB King and Stevie Ray
Who takes the pain we didn’t choose?
Turns it into Chicago Blues

Patti Scialfa and Bruce Springsteen previously worked with Dion on “Hymn To Him,” a track from his 2020 Blues With Friends album. Dion credits Scialfa for the richness of the song’s arrangement. “Everything you hear — that’s all her,” he explains. He had sent her only the most basic track on which to lay her vocal and she returned with 64 tracks that were fully arranged. Dion quipped, “64 tracks is more than I’ve used on all my records combined.”

In the liner notes that accompany Stomping Ground, Dion writes, “I gave Patti a simple, raw demo of ‘Angel in the Alleyways,’ with just my guitar and vocal. What you’ll hear now is what Patti made of it. There are five verses, and she treated each of them in a unique way. This is her gift. The lady’s imagination is unlimited. Her husband contributed the right tones on guitar and harmonica. They are my dream team. They truly make me feel loved.”

Stomping Ground, produced by Wayne Hood and Dion, features a total of 14 tracks and includes musical contributions by Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, Billy F Gibbons, Keb’ Mo, Sonny Landreth, Marcia Ball, Jimmy Vivino, G.E. Smith, Rickie Lee Jones as well as the aforementioned Bonamassa, Scaggs and the Menzas. The album also includes original liner notes by Pete Townshend.

PACHIDERMA Share Brand New Video ‘Il Diavolo’ From Upcoming Album

Italy’s extreme sludge and stoner metal trio, PACHIDERMA, who just recently announced their worldwide signing with powerhouse label Argonauta Records, have served a first taste of their upcoming debut album. “Il Diavolo, La Peste, La Morte”, a one-track concept album which is divided in three acts, will be released as Vinyl only on November 19, 2021.

Recorded during the summer of 2019 in a “one shot-weekend” session by Andrea Lenoci at Molotov Recordings, PACHIDERMA‘s first album is heavily inspired by the philosophy previously issued in Bergman’s filmography. Both from a musical and philosophical perspective, the bands adds a unique touch to their sound while combining various movie samples and vibrant effects, inspired by dark myths and reality of humanity, yet driven by the soul of heavy stoner rock and sludge metal. Their enthralling fusion of monolithic and brutal- heavy sounds with a haunting visual concept, makes PACHIDERMA‘s first output most likely one the most exciting record releases the heavy scene will get to hear by the end of this year!

GHOSTS OF SUNSET Release Video Clip for ‘If You’re Not Coming Back’

After coming to our attention in 2020, GHOSTS OF SUNSET are really establishing themselves as a major player in the hard rock scene. The band have clocked up several hundred thousand streams to date on the back of some classy singles.

The band released their latest single ‘If You’re Not Coming Back’ via Golden Robot Records in September and have now released a great video clip for the track.

‘If You’re Not Coming Back’ sticks true to their hair metal / Hollywood rock stylings, with a ballad-esque vibe. The single demonstrates that it’s hard to really know what ‘gone’ means until you come to grips with what ‘forever’ means. A slow fadeaway allows time for preparation, but a quick flash and burn leaves you with more questions than answers. Asking your only true love what to do if they’re not coming back.

Rioghan is a solo project performed by singer Rioghan Darcy. Rioghan was founded in 2019 and is based on Lapua, Finland. Rooted deeply in both gothic and progressive metal scenes, she sure should bring something interesting on the table. She started off in 2010 as a poetry and lyric writer, but in 2019 she finally wanted to add some more to the mix and decided to fleshen up some of her words with music. She teamed up with a few skilled songwriters and together they came up with a 4 song EP “Blackened Sky” which was released earlier in 2021 via Inverse Records. Yet unnamed debut album is set to be released in 2022.
