Swedish MAD INVASION combines classic 70’s hard rock influences with a modern approach and soundscape. The vast experience of the band members as musicians, songwriters and performing artists − includes numerous album releases and tours over the years.

In September MAD INVASION release their long-awaited debut album entitled ’Edge Of The World’, an album that offers a wide range of heavy songs with bone crushing guitars, airy keyboards, and a dynamic rhythm section – adding the final touches to the very distinct MAD INVASION sound. The three first videos also feature special guest Mikkey Dee from Motörhead and Scorpions. Join the MAD INVASION journey and rediscover the golden age of rock – in a new suit of armour.

Watch the new video `Crazy & Wild´ on YouTube, and stream the song on Spotify, Apple Music, , Deezer and Amazon Music.

About the song and video

A head-on groovy rock song with a party mood and high sing-along factor. The song is based on a older guitar riff that was updated for a more modern purpose.

We used the same two girls in this video as in the previous one ’Devil’s Calling’, both our trademark ’Fallen Angel’ in white (the evil angel) and the girl who is usually our Black Angel (the good angel) but in this video is the ’Party Girl’.

The theme of the song and video is that we all should get a bit crazy once in a while – just because we can. No serious messages, just having fun in the name of rock’n roll. The video was record at Slagthuset in Malmö (Sweden), which is big venue used for both live concerts and exhibitions.

The guitars that were used in the recording were an old Ibanez Destroyer (Björn) and Gibson Les Paul (Hal) together with a classic vintage Marshall amp and speakers from the early 70’s. The guitars are tunes in a 5-semitone-drop which means that a regular E-string becomes a B-tone, and an A-string becomes an E tone. This creates a heavier and more dynamic rock sound but also requires thicker strings (011-052) to be able to carry the lower tones well.

The guitars were recorded in 6-dubbed stereo with Tri-Chorus and Delay, which created the massive and broad sound in the song.

For the vocals we used the amazing Swedish microphone Ehrlund, with an Audio Tube Pre-amp, Audio Tube Compressor and Urei 546 Equalizer.

After the release of last month’s single, ‘Underground Star’, Dublin’s GREYFACE are once again pushing the boundaries of their genre-bending sound, releasing their video for stunning new single ‘Dead Men (Don’t Walk In Circles)‘, watch it below.

Listen/buy ‘Dead Men (Don’t Walk in Circles)’ HERE

‘Dead Men (Don’t Walk in Circles’)’ sees GREYFACE present a wonderfully sombre ballad-like opus, that blossoms into a gargantuan aural monolith, loaded with their, now, trademark anthemic, dark-pop approach to song writing.

Speaking of the new single, ‘Dead Men (Don’t Walk in Circles) the band comments:
“’Dead Men…’ is our third single and features ‘Tadhg’ on piano accompaniment. It serves as a defining rock-opera moment within our upcoming EP, backed full-force by distorted guitars, and expressive rhythms and riffs. The track swells providing orchestral backing to match intimate piano-lines, and whispered vocals, which gradually develop the song into a power-ballad.”

Following the fantastic reception of their most recent single, ‘Underground Star’ (June 4th), GREYFACE have been featured on independent radio around Europe, The United Kingdom and the USA, as well as receiving a video premiere and write-up from Ireland’s own ‘Hot Press’. They also featured on Ireland’s National Broadcast on “RTE 2FM” radio station. Lyrically the song serves as a looking glass into the band’s conceptual character of the ‘Underground Star’, whose story shines light upon human nature and it’s many grimacing vices.

More info on GREYFACE:
The band’s philosophy is loosely based on the universal Freudian/Jungian ideas of the inner shadow. Each member of the group names and paints this inner idea most people choose to ignore, or reject for its undesirability. The group refer to their shadow as their “GREYFACE”, taking these ideas to the stage in a theatrical and explosive way. Each member brings a certain element to the bands collective image and sound. Here’s a profile of each member: “We like to see each character personally as a ‘true-self’, and feel that shows mostly in the bands physical appearance.”

Éalu (Drums) – Makeup Inspired by Celtic roots, and usually dressed in a black kilt and coat. Most commonly seen with ‘blind eyes’ making reference to ‘blinding revelations’ that occur when looking deeper into ones psychology. Éalu translates to, ‘Escape’, as Gaeilge.

Icarus (Guitar) – Makeup inspired by designs and ancient symbolism. Seen in black and leather or high-fashion streetwear. The name Icarus derives from the Greek fable, and reflects on a deep lack of control mixed with a desire to escape from the burdening chains of reality by any means.

Evra (Bass) – Makeup usually wet and running black. Evra paints their entire body creating a stark contrast to their dress, which is usually seen in pink or blue. The name Evra originates from a fascination with reptiles, and the physical loudness of their appearance relates to inward frustrations and the extreme, chaotic means of releasing them.

Shaye (Vocals) – Makeup inspired by MTV and Glam, seen in gold, black and red. His name originates from a Californian art project by Eric Fournier known as, ‘Shaye Saint John’. The name relates to the inability to define or understand oneself in the face of vanity and self-obsession. His eyes are usually red, reflecting an obsession with goals and plastic desires.

Through high-energy performance, the band performs a stylised mix of music branching from hip-hop, to rock/metal, to electronica which was a refreshing experience for their German debut at Wacken Open Air; in 2019. After their 2019 debut single, ‘Yin’ (listen here) was played on radio stations nationwide, the group received positive press Irish music and politics magazine, Hot Press, interviewing frontman Shaye in the “Hot For 2020 Issue,” and describing them as, “A force to be reckoned with”, after witnessing them live.

Following the fantastic reception of their most recent single, ‘Underground Star’ (see video here), GREYFACE have been featured on independent radio around Europe, The United Kingdom and the USA, as well as receiving a video premiere and write-up once again from Ireland’s own, ‘Hot Press’ Magazine. They also featured on Ireland’s National Broadcast on “RTE 2FM” radio station. Lyrically the song serves as a looking glass into the band’s conceptual character of the ‘Underground Star’, whose story shines light upon human nature and it’s many grimacing vices.

Of the second single ‘Underground Star’ (released June 2021), the band commented: “The Underground Star is an eclectic mix of insecurity and braggadocio. Inspired lyrically by the anthems and dramatic niches of Glam metal, and sonically by more groove focused Industrial riffing and rhythm based playing. Conceptually the character is built from fake confidence. The average front-person of a nothing band, with the spirit and mind-set of an influential arena God. Although more vulgar and extreme in lyrical content and sound to the other tracks, It finalises the underlying narrative in the EP, connecting the lines of the songs that came previously with a crowd pleasing chant and an abrasive character.”

On the overall sound of ‘GREYFACE’ they stated: “The true essence of the group is to experiment and flirt with different musical ideas as one consistent unit.”

Modern day has left genre behind, and GREYFACE are no exception. Inspired to naturally bend styles in the same vein as artists like Linkin Park, Billie Eilish, or The Prodigy. Each song differs sonically ranging from the use of hardcore rave synths, to orchestral filled piano ballads, to metal breakdowns and emotionally fuelled indie-rock bangers. The group’s conceptuality, sound and essence, however, stays consistent throughout, remaining recognisable as GREYFACE.”

TERMINALIST Release Thrashing New Video for ‘Estranged Reflection’

This past May, Danish hyperthrash quartet TERMINALIST released their debut album ‘The Great Acceleration’ – an ambitious outburst of sci-fi laden aggressive and progressive metal working within the conceptual framework of dromology, a theory of speed as proposed by the French thinker Paul Virilio. After videos for the initial two singles, the band has once again created a visual companion to their music alongside director Johan Von Bülow, this time as a close up performance video for the album track ‘Estranged Reflection’. Lead singer and guitarist Emil Hansen states on the video:

Where the narrative on ‘The Great Acceleration’ is about venturing further out into space, much like the billionaires of our time, the visuals for the album have taken the opposite direction: We started off in macro perspective on ‘Relentless Alteration’, descended onto Earth on ‘Terminal Dispatch’ and now, on ‘Estranged Reflection’, we conclude the journey in our rehearsal space where the album was written.

Also watch TERMINALIST’s video for ‘Terminal Dispatch’ HERE and also the video for ‘Relentless Alteration HERE

Terminalist has just been confirmed for the prestigious Danish showcase festival SPOT Festival in Aarhus on Sept 17th and also a headliner gig at Pumpehuset, Copenhagen on Sept 23rd alongside DK sludgers Dirt Forge and Dying Hydra. But before hitting the fall dates, the band will play a free pandemic regulated outdoor show at Byhaven Pumpehuset, Coepnhagen on August 7th alongside tech death act Mother Of All. More shows in both Denmark and abroad are being planned and to be announced in the coming months.

The world is ruled by speed. Speed which drives history forward in a state of ever-increasing acceleration. Such is the central claim of dromology; a theory of speed originated by French philosopher Paul Virilio (1932-2018). It is on this premise that the new Danish-American Sci-fi thrashers Terminalist base their conceptual universe. On their debut album ‘The Great Acceleration’, they bring the dromocratic philosophy together with their own science fiction narratives as they describe a world in crisis and a planet in collapse being abandoned in favor of colonization of space.

Artwork by Ryan T. Hancock

Terminalist formed in 2018 and debuted a year later with the EP ‘Abandon All Liberties’, followed in 2020 by the single Voyagers. The four-man band harken back to the traditional and technical thrash metal of the late 1980’s, bringing it up to date by fusing it with black metal blast beats, death metal growls, and grandiose prog rock concepts. The result is modern in its concoction, yet retro in its appeal; a style the band itself has dubbed hyperthrash.

Terminalist use the lens of dromology to describe the duality of technology and investigate Virilio’s thesis that the invention of the ship was also the invention of the shipwreck; continuing the thrash metal tradition of political criticism and pessimism about the future. Yet, Terminalist fit in among a new generation of metal bands using the genre’s monstrous sounds to illustrate the downfall of modern society in favor of something new and unknown. This is conveyed in a sound which is fast and aggressive, melodic and dynamic; catchy yet technical.

‘The Great Acceleration’ was recorded and produced by Lasse Ballade (Konvent, Alkymist, Deiquisitor, Slægt, Orm) at Ballade Studios in Copenhagen during the summer of 2020, mastered by V. Santura (Triptykon, Dark Fortress) at Woodshed Studio in Germany, and the artwork is created by Ryan T. Hancock. The album was released on May 7, 2021 on vinyl, tape and digital formats via Indisciplinarian and the vinyl versions limited to 300 black and 100 red copies are available via Indisciplinarian’s webshop HERE

US hard rock band RESIDUAL SELF have released a new official video for the track Mistress Of Pain. The song is the second track from their recent album Revenge, released via Sliptrick Records on April 27th.

“Mistress Of Pain is about what every soul of lust is after, and she knows it. Using her charms, she dominates those infatuated with her. She feeds off the pain of the flesh and pain of the mind. Now caught in her web, you’re into deep. The realization comes… you’re the demon’s prey. Let the guitar licks guide you, as you heed the warnings of Rex. Scream out her name, and we’ll curse her in shame.”

Residual Self – Revenge
Primarily and a mix between hard rock, grunge and goth, Residual Self utilizes scything guitars, booming effects, thunderous claps of the low-end bass and drums, while their leader Rex grunts, growls, howls, and snarls his way through their apocalyptic journeys. Accompanied by their themes of demons, lust and power, Rex aims to bring forth the “residual self” in us all. Their stark sounds and somber lyrics are designed to awaken the true primal nature and strike one’s soul at its very core, unveiling who you truly are! Read more …here
