Napalm Records is proud to announce the signing of the outstanding progressive/melodic death metal band PERSEFONE. Hailing out of Andorra, the five-piece outfit is known for the creation of rich soundscapes and technically precise work that sets new standards in modern extreme progressive metal.

Founded in 2001, PERSEFONE has released five studio albums, each one showcasing the band’s myriad of musical principles: high technicality, distinct melodies, plenty of head-turning riffs and musical acrobatics. The band has toured worldwide with notable acts like Obituary and Leprous, and has hit the stages of important festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Metal Days, Brutal Assault, ProgPower and 70,000 Tons of Metal.

For their previous albums, the band collaborated with producers such as Jens Bogren (At The Gates, Haken, The Ocean), Logan Mader (Gojira, Periphery, Once Human) and Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Epica). Recently, PERSEFONE finished recording their sixth studio album, which will be released in early 2022. The album is mixed by David Castillo, who has worked with genre greats like Leprous, Soen and Opeth, and mastered by Tony Lindgren (Enslaved, Ihsahn, Sepultura).

PERSEFONE comment the signing:
“We are excited to announce that we have signed a worldwide deal with the renowned label Napalm Records. Since we started working on the new album, we knew we wanted to bring this whole experience that is PERSEFONE to a new level. Teaming up with Napalm Records will allow us to reach a new stage we couldn’t get to otherwise and we can’t wait to show you all what we’ve been working on these last few years. Stay tuned for more announcements about our new album and tours coming up!

The amount of hours and resources we have put into this release is way beyond any other album we have ever conceived. We have put the question mark on every little detail – from the writing process to the very last production element. Also, the commitment David has shown during this whole process definitely shows in the final sound of the album as it sounds huge, powerful and very organic. For us, every new album means a new challenge to surpass and this particular one has been no exception. For the first time ever we couldn’t be happier with the result. Much love.”

Sebastian Muench, A&R at Napalm Records adds:
“PERSEFONEs album ‘Aathma’ is unquestionably one of most creative and inspiring progressive metal albums of the last decade! Having eagerly listened to some of the new songs, fans can expect another masterpiece! I am looking forward to working with PERSEFONE and the Welkin Entertainment Management around Tim and Rahul. Welcome to the Napalm family!”

The album’s release is planned for early 2022. Stay tuned for more news!

South African VULVODYNIA Release New Single/Video ‘Banquet of Enigmatic Horrors II: Agony’ Ft. ARCHSPIRE vocalist

South African death metal six-piece VULVODYNIA have released new single / video ‘Banquet of Enigmatic Horrors II: Agony’ ahead of their new album Praenuntius Infiniti, which is out 17th September via Unique Leader Records.

The band commented: “We are super excited to release this single, it’s the second half of a two-part epic. ‘The Banquet of Enigmatic Horrors, Part 2: Agony’ is for sure a band favourite! Not only for how pummelling it is but also because of the guests we have on it. Malcolm Pugh of Inferi shows up on our track-list again with his tasteful display of Orchestration and alien theremin use. But what really sends this single over the edge is machine gun vocal extraordinaire Oliver Rae Aleron of Archspire. He completely blew us away with his absolutely insane yet precise speed vocals. We hope old fans and new fans alike can appreciate this behemoth!”

Featuring guest vocals from Oliver Rae Aleron (Archspire), watch the video for ‘Banquet of Enigmatic Horrors II: Agony’ here:

An unending sea of carnage, a God-turned-beast devouring everything within its path, an epic, sprawling tale of the consumption of galaxies and their inhabitants – and the duality of battling deities that takes place to bring the reign of Praenuntius to an end. What does this all mean? Simply put, it means Vulvodynia – South Africa’s premium death metal export – are back with Praenuntius Infiniti, their fourth full-length release and a label signing to boot. Completing the tale established in their critically acclaimed 2015 EP Finis Omnium Ignorantiam, Praenuntius Infiniti is one hour of flesh-melting, bone-busting death metal, infused with slamming elements and spine-shrinking breakdowns that capture the very crux of heavy, intense music. Produced by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy), the band’s Unique Leader Records debut displays Vulvodynia’s continued maturation and incorporation of melodic, technical and hyper aggressive elements into their backbone of brutal slamming death metal, to achieve what stands as their most diverse, engaging and immolating offer to date.

On the concept, the band conclude: “Praenuntius Infiniti tells the story of an inter-dimensional godlike being and his quest for ultimate power. After being cast out into the abyss by the elder Gods, Praenuntius begins devouring all of the known Multiverse on his journey to divine omnipotence. At the end of our 2015 release Finis Omnium Ignorantiam the earth gets eaten and travels through centuries of darkness down his gullet into the eternal wasteland of galaxies. The heavens are slowly torn asunder as the Gods scramble for a plan to defeat him. Battles rage and drama unfolds as the earth and other planets within his belly try to fight off the ruthless invasion of his spawn. Shall the Gods prevail or shall Praenuntius devour all!?”

THE ABSENCE Release New Video for “Faith In Uncreation”

Florida-based melodic death metal masters THE ABSENCE have unveiled a new video for “Faith in Uncreation”.  Another track from the group’s new album “Coffinized,” released June 25 via M-Theory Audio.

Drummer, Jeramie Kling adds:

“From the moment I heard this song, I was hooked. It became one of my favorites on the record. It was a pleasure to work Anthony at Zenbeast. He captured exactly the vibe and visuals we were going for. I hope everyone enjoys this video as much as we do. ”

The video is now Live via the bands YouTube and can be viewed here:

Hailed by Decibel for “leaving the majority of melodic death metal’s recent history chewing dust,” “Coffinized” – which can be ordered on CD and limited-edition colored vinyl at https://www.nightshiftmerch.com/collections/The-Absence – is THE ABSENCE’s follow-up to their acclaimed 2018 comeback record, “A Gift For The Obsessed.” That album was the band’s first in eight years, as well as their first for new label home M-Theory Audio. The time period between that album’s release and the COVID outbreak saw the band stay busy by taking their new songs to the road, touring alongside acts such as Deicide, Origin, Jungle Rot, Exmortus and Hatchet. The group’s members also stayed busy with outside endeavors, with drummer Jeramie Kling manning the kit for Venom Inc., bassist Mike Leon, a member with Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy and guitarist Taylor Nordberg playing with Massacre.

Those three band members took the experiences from their touring gigs and reconvened in the studio with Stewart – who has also been busy with his other project, Hot Graves – to put together the 11 tracks of pummeling death metal that compose “Coffinized.” The album was produced and engineered by Kling and Nordberg, mixed by Kling and mastered by Jonas Kjellgren (Immortal, Overkill, Scar Symmetry) at Sweden’s Black Lounge Studios. Its track listing is as follows:

Coffinized
Future Terminal
Choirs of Sickness
Radiant Devastation
Cathedral Dawn
Black Providence
Discordia
Treacherous
This Consuming Nocturne
Aperture Expands
Faith in Uncreation

The music videos for
“This Consuming Nocturne” can be viewed at https://youtu.be/jM0eMeLkyis
“Coffinized” can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urazX0XlLBU

THE ABSENCE first burst onto the scene in 2005 with their crushing, Erik Rutan-produced Metal Blade debut “From Your Grave.” That album and its two follow-ups, 2007’s “Riders of the Plague” and 2010’s “Enemy Unbound,” showcased a perfect mixture of heart wrenching melodies and skull-pounding aggression, truly making them one of the premiere bands of the melodic death metal scene. THE ABSENCE further cemented their reputation via numerous tours supporting some of the biggest names in metal, including Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Amon Amarth, Sabaton, Goatwhore, Evergrey, Malevolent Creation, Kataklysm and Destruction. Following a lengthy hiatus, the band regrouped in 2016 with a new lineup uniting founding members Stewart and Kling with long-time bassist Leon and guitarists Nordberg and Joey Concepcion for “A Gift for The Obsessed.” (Concepcion appears on four tracks on “Coffinized.”)

DEATH POP RADIO Release Single And Video “I Melt For You”, Hit Song From Modern English

DEATH POP RADIO have announced the release of their new single “I Melt With You”, a twisted take on the 80’s mega-hit originally written and performed by Modern English. The song will be available on all major streaming services including Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify on August 20, 2021. The band decided to release a studio version of this song after multiple live performances of the cover received rousing responses from audiences throughout the midwest. Death Pop Radio’s rendition shows a heavier side of the band with staccato palm muted chords followed tightly by thumping double bass drums, but yet still manages to maintain the memorable pop feel to the chorus. The repeating melody in the verses originally performed by clean guitars are replaced by distorted keys with a 4 on the floor support.

“A unique twist to a popular song that will definitely turn some heads” – Jeffrey A. Swanson / President / Dark Star Records

“The original version of I Melt With You sounds pretty bright and happy at first listen, but there is an underlying sense of longing and obsession underneath the bubbles. This is the vibe we were trying to capture in our take.” – Dee J Nelson – Death Pop Radio

CORNERS OF SANCTUARY Drop Second Part Of “Blood And Steel: Volume 2”

Philadelphia’s CORNERS OF SANCTUARY (COS) drop the second edition of the two-part EP Collection, “Blood And Steel: volume two,” the follow-up to their critically acclaimed first installment. “Blood and Steel: volume one,” has been hailed as the band’s most dynamic effort yet, and “Volume Two” has some big shoes to fill, but is definitely up to the challenge. The bands latest video, “Casualties Of War,” maintains the same, darker feel that embodies both Volumes and keeps the collection solidified. The “Blood And Steel” collection offers something for die-hard COS fans, but also offers something for the fans that are just now hearing the band for the first time with its straight up, classic, early 80’s metal sound and production.

“Blood and Steel: volume two” was again, produced by COS founder, primary songwriter and guitarist Mick Michaels, and mastered by Thrash legends Blood Feast guitarist and studio owner and engineer, CJ Scioscia, (Ross the Boss, Mike LePond of Symphony X) at Le Chateau Bow Wow Recording in New Jersey, “Blood and Steel: volume two” fires on all cylinders and delivers a blistering array of the band’s unforgiving signature songwriting approach. Maintaining their traditionally inspired riffing and arrangements, Volume Two continues the charge of Volume One with another battering set of traditionally influenced tracks by the united hard work of the band’s popular lineup featuring: bassist James Pera, drummer Mad T, guitarist Michaels and singer Frankie Cross. “Blood and Steel: volume two” also includes guest performances on the 80’s inspired track, “Earth Fighter,” by Seeker and Corporate Mass guitarist John Coonan as well as Femmes of Rock bassist Michael Kelly who delivers an ensemble keyboard introduction.

The band has shared the stage with a myriad artists and bands including UDO, Stryper, Bulletboys, Saxon, Grim Reaper, Saving Abel, Janet Gardner, Tantric, Butcher Babies, Sponge, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Anvil, Jackie Chambers of Girlschool, Joey Belladonna of Anthrax, the Iron Maidens and Britny Fox among many others. COS has also toured overseas and performed throughout the United Kingdom, Germany and Belgium.
