The past year has hit almost all artists hard. Anyone who knows STEPFATHER FRED can imagine what must have built up with this cult live band if you don’t let them on stage for so long. The first single from the new album, which will be released in autumn, gives a foretaste.
“If She Falls” combines passion and current affairs with powerful dynamics!
With almost five albums and almost 500 live shows, STEPFATHER FRED have established themselves in the club and festival scene.
The Allgäu rock band has been touring Europe since 2005, and fans are longing for the new album, which will be released in autumn via El Puerto Records.
Saturday, July 17th LA based band WARRIOR reunited to celebrate the life of their bass player ROB FARR at Cooks Corner in Trabuco Canyon, California. This was the first time WARRIOR has performed live since their performance at the Keep It True Festival in Germany, on April 26, 2014. Rob Farr was very well liked and frequented the Southern California rock scene playing in a variety of bands over the years. Rob Farr’s other band NATIONAL DUST and RADIO EIGHTIES performed also. Roy Z and Ira Black headed up an all-star jam as well to finish off the day.
The WARRIOR line up included Joe Floyd the founding member, AC Alexander (Lizzy Borden) on guitar, Dave Ducey (Rhino Bucket) on drums, Mike Davis (Halford, Lizzy Borden, Death Dealer) on bass and Sean Pec (Cage, Death Dealer, The Three Tremors) on vocals. There are suggestions that WARRIOR may be preparing new original material for release and booking additional live performances in the near future.
The WARRIOR setlist was as follows:
FIGHT OR FALL MIND OVER MATTER ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE COLD FIRE DEFENDERS OF CREATION FIGHTING FOR THE EARTH WELCOME ABOARD
Following up to the announcement of their new album Molotov Rocktail (out September 3 via Napalm Records) and releasing their new single “Careless (In The Age Of Altruism)”, Norwegian power trio BOKASSA are not stepping down from their stoner punk rampage, revealing their new single “Burn It All (P.T.S.D.E.A.D.)” today! Airtight, dense production and raspy, unmistakable vocals by guitarist Jørn Kaarstad make this heavy rock banger an unmatched joyride. The melodic chorus and speedy guitar solos prove BOKASSA to be on top of their stoner punk game!
BOKASSA adds: “’Burn It All (P.T.S.D.E.A.D.)’ is just a great song in our opinion. A perfect uptempo Bokassa track. Everything from the stoney lead riff, the melodic verses and choruses to the metal riffage in the bridge makes this song pop. One of our favorites on the record. And it probably includes our coolest solo yet. The video was really fun to shoot as well, although we wouldn’t recommend dressing in corpse paint with fake blood when it’s 30 degrees and a hell of a lot of mosquitos around!”

Hailing from Trondheim, Norway, hard rock trio BOKASSA have recently made a name for themselves with their brand of hard-hitting, melodic, catchy punk and stoner rock, right from the first full length, Divide & Conquer (2017). During the Worldwired tour with METALLICA, the band released the critically acclaimed Crimson Riders (2019). On top of this, the Norwegians were nominated for the prestigious Spellemann-Award for Breakthrough of the Year in 2020. Now, BOKASSA are ready to enter the explosive next chapter with their exciting new album, Molotov Rocktail!
Vocalist and guitarist Jørn Kaarstad’s unmistakably raspy voice and crushing guitar riffs hit satisfyingly hard with the snappy drumming and fat bass tone of drummer Olav Dowkes and bassist Bård Linga. Songs like “Herticules” effortlessly pull off the transition between melodic choruses and punishing breakdowns, while the title track “Molotov Rocktail” is two minutes of pure stoner punk paradise with its dense songwriting and dynamic production. The album closer’s intro riff (“Immortal Space Pirate 3 Too Old For This Sith”), meanwhile, could be lifted straight off a classic BEHEMOTH album. On Molotov Rocktail, BOKASSA’s daring but cohesive tightrope act of singalongs and neck breaking grooves is highly contagious – mixed and mastered by Machine (CLUTCH, THE BRONX, EVERY TIME I DIE) the powerhouse from Trondheim misses no chance to entrance the listener with every second of runtime!
Molotov Rocktail Tracklisting:
1. Freelude 2. So Long Idiots! 3. Pitchforks R Us 4. Hereticules 5. Low (And Behold) 6. Godless 7. Molotov Rocktail 8. Burn It All (P.T.S.D.E.A.D) 9. Careless (In The Age Of Altruism) 10. Code Red 11. Immortal Space Pirate 3 Too Old For This Sith

METAL CHURCH lead singer and frontman Mike Howe has sadly passed away. No cause of death has been revealed.
The band has issued the sad news via their Facebook Page: “It is with our deepest regrets that we must announce the passing of our brother, our friend and true legend of heavy metal music. Mike Howe passed away this morning at his home in Eureka, California. We are devastated and at a loss for words. Please respect our privacy and the Howe family’s privacy during this most difficult time.”
Psychedelic sludge-rockers THE STONE EYE have revealed a new music video for their latest single “Catatonia“. The video was directed by Stephen Burdick. Watch it right now at this location. “Catatonia” is the second single from the band’s sixth full-length album South Of The Sun which is scheduled for a worldwide release on October 15, 2021 via Eclipse Records.
“Catatonia was our attempt at writing a simple, circular tune with a strong hook that would stick in listener’s minds, like the way Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana does,” says lead vocalist & guitarist Stephen Burdick. ” The idea behind the video wasn’t anything too elaborate, just us trying to be as absurd and ridiculous as possible whilst also making some sense. Why not have a rogue, alcoholic police officer with a handlebar mustache try to dish out a parking meter ticket, then proceed to have the pursuit of his life which ends with him standing face to face with a risqué representation of the devil who proceeds to smack his bum? We’ve never seen that done before, and what’s more ridiculous than that?”
The new record, titled South of the Sun, is one of those gems that is familiar somehow, yet takes the listener on a journey mapped out in new pathways. The album’s music invokes the spirits of Frank Zappa and Kurt Cobain while applying their influence upon music which easily falls alongside the likes of Queens of the Stone Age and Alice In Chains. Heavy with a layer of glorious weirdness, this album combines a raucous, dirty guitar sound with clever musicianship … vocals that are as hypnotic in harmony as they are diverse in range, and a rhythm section as daring as it is ornate and, at times, funk-a-licious. With thirteen mesmerizing songs altogether, the singles from the album certainly showcase the wide range of influences upon the band’s writing. For the first single “Witches & Raptures“, the band sings about being trapped in the big picture of the world around us and how servants eventually are consumed by their social masters after they have served their purpose. The second single “Catatonia” is more of an exercise in meditative songwriting designed to just lose the listener in the lyrics which represent such philosophical questions such as ‘who’s out there, what’s there?’. The third single “Aleutian Summer” can be best described as a scene out of The Shining, going stir-crazy because you’re figuratively trapped in the middle of God knows where. They are soulful songs, and in their own way erotic, both perfect for rock, alternative, stoner, and even metal radio playlists as fuzzy stoner sludge wrapped up in a progressive, pop metal take on the rock genre.
On July 24th, Tokyo based “Samurais from Hell” SURVIVE – active in the world for 20+ years – performed ‘Nemo&Gaku Acoustic Live‘ show, now available on the band’s YouTube Channel, watch it below.
Tokyo’s Thrash Heroes SURVIVE – active in the world for over 20 years – have forged their own indelible path within the jmetal scene. It was back in 1998, when former Death File guitarist and mastermind Nemo decided to form a thrash metal band of his own which soon became the juggernaut known as SURVIVE. Over the next two decades the band have played many big festivals (Loud Park, Beast Fest, Multiplex-motorbike event, Korean Live Rock, Formoz Festival, Asia Metal Festival, Dongducheon Rock Festival, Trendkill Extreme Feast, etc) and toured all over the world with acts such as Behemoth, United, Killswitch Engage, Dope, Pulling Teeth, Testament, Outrage, Anthrax, Hatebleed, Napalm Death, Amon Amarth, Venom Inc, At The Gates, to name just a few, cementing their place in Japanese metal history. Still going strong, SURVIVE‘s latest album “Immortal Warriors” was released to the Japanese market on September 12th, 2018 and a year later, on September 24th 2019, the album is out worldwide via Sliptrick Records. SURVIVE have lost none of their verve and “Immortal Warriors” is an absolute must for fans of this fantastic, often overlooked band.
