TOMMY CONCRETE Streams New Single “The Blind Man Shines Light On The Truth”

TOMMY CONCRETE streams a new single “The Blind Man shines Light on The Truth” from his highly anticipated upcoming album “Hexenzirkel” via Ghost Cult Magazine, here.

“There are people who say there is nothing new in rock and heavy metal these days, and then there is Tommy Concrete.  (He is) quite possibly one of the most thought provoking and intelligent writers and composers out there today.” Gary Cooper, The Moshville Times

“Sometimes harrowing, sometimes enlightening, there isn’t a second […] that doesn’t feel completely genuine.” – Nathan Tyler, Astral Noize

Marked by relentless persistence and an ever-evolving creative spirit, the music of Edinburgh, Scotland solo artist Tommy Concrete pushes new boundaries with the upcoming album Hexenzirkel.  Due out via Trepanation Records later this year, Hexenzirkel features an array of guest artists and incorporates unexpected musical genres to deliver a soundscape that fans of Devin Townsend, Ihsahn, The Gathering and Opeth will enjoy.

Concrete says of the album,

“It uses the same musical ingredients as my previous work, as in it’s a combination of black, doom, prog, and trad metal.  But this time I’ve tried to create a fusion of styles as opposed to swapping between them.  This concept came from listening to 70s flamenco/rock fusion artists such as Al Di Meola and Cameron De La Isla.  Hexenzirkel also contains elements of flamenco, trip-hop, rap, and alt-rock thrown in with the usual blend of extreme metals.”

Lyrically, Concrete considers the album an exploration of psychosis of which he was diagnosed in 2019. A condition which he came to terms with during the global pandemic, in so far as it gave him the drive to create Hexenzirkel. The lyrics were written in order as they appear on the album, in almost diary format from March 2020 – May 2020.

Concrete, who is autistic, experiences synesthesia which is the ability to experience sound and music visually. His recent Unrelaxed 1 & 2 albums had neurodiversity as the lyrical concept. This time Concrete decided to represent neuro-diversity musically, by utilizing his synesthesia as a creative tool. In as such as drawing the music first and composing the songs to fit the shapes and colors. Hexenzirkel is literally the sound and shape (if your have synesthesia) of psychosis.

Hexenzirkel contains more doom metal influences than his previous releases. A genre he is more known for outside his solo work, having most recently appeared in three of the forty bands of the recent ‘Doomed & Stoned in Scotland’ compilation, namely Psychotic Depression, Jackal Headed Guard of the Dead and of course Tommy Concrete.

He has taken a definite turn from his time with Scottish punk legends The Exploited, forging his own solo identity.  Now with Hexenzirkel, his ninth solo album and the second with Trepanation, Concrete welcomes a wealth of collaborators to continue this musical evolution.  “The word ‘Hexenzirkel’ is German for ‘witches coven,’ which I felt was an appropriate title as so many people have contributed to the album,” he says.

Concrete is joined by the following vocalists:

  • Laura Gilchrist of doom metal band King Witch
  • Jenni Sneddon of witch rock band Juniper Grave
  • Michael Brannagh of Tommy Concrete and the Werewolves and formerly American hard rock band Warrior Soul
  • Christian Kimmet from Warrior Soul and American glam legends Love Hate
  • Jamie Herkes from Tommy Concrete and the Werewolves and Scottish punks Critkill
  • Bryan Ramage from prog metal band Ramage Inc.

Ramage also produced, mixed, and mastered the album.
Hexenzirkel will be available in CD and digital formats on 25th June 2021

KING BUFFALO Share Brand New Single & Video ‘Silverfish’

June 4th will see Rochester, New York heavy psych rock act KING BUFFALO release their third, full- length album, entitled The Burden of Restlessness, as a self-release throughout North America and via Stickman Records in Europe. The Burden of Restlessness is the first of three records the trio has planned to issue during 2021. Repeat: THREE!

After the previously- released first album single, “Hebetation”, King Buffalo have now unleashed a second track taken from The Burden Of Restlessness. Just exclusively premiered with Consequence.net and Germany’s Visions Magazine, you can now watch the brand new, trippy video for the prog- rock juggernaut “Silverfish” right here:

The Burden Of Restlessness marks the band’s most focused progressive offering to-date. The album not only continues to push King Buffalo’s progressive aspects forward into new avenues of melody and exploration, but at the same time, it is not mistitled. There are deep undercurrents of frustration and even an aggressive pulse that coincide with the spaciousness for which the band has been so widely lauded since their 2016 debut, Orion. Guitarist & Vocalist Sean McVay drops what’s bound to become one of the record’s signature lyrics in opener “Burning” when he declares, “Another year lost in the wasteland, and more succinct summaries of canceled plans and rescheduled, lost or damaged lives are hard to come by.“

He continues: “The Burden of Restlessness was written over the course of what most would consider a pretty stark and stressful time period. The end result is our darkest, most aggressive, and most intimate work to date. We are extremely proud of what this record became.”

Followers of King Buffalo will find the band’s time was not at all wasted.
While some of the synthesizer driven elements of early-2020’s Dead Star EP have been stripped back, the rhythmic complexity in The Burden of Restlessness is yet more new ground the band are claiming as their own. They do so with confidence and a creative depth of atmosphere that comes through in more than just the effects being used, and the urgency in their material is unmistakable.

“Since Covid stopped all touring, we’ve been hard at work and made the commitment to not waste the opportunity. We’re excited to share the first of three records of 2021, which has expanded our sound in a lot of different ways. We hope you enjoy it and we look forward to eventually playing these songs live.”  Says drummer Scott Donaldson.

The Burden of Restlessness was written and recorded by King Buffalo in Rochester, NY at the Main Street Armory in December of 2020 & January 2021. Produced, engineered & mixed by Sean McVay, and mastered by Bernie Matthews. The artwork was created by Zdzisław Beksiński with cover fonts by Mike Turzanski and an album layout by Scott Donaldson. The album pre-sale for North America is available at THIS LOCATION, while European fans may want to check out the Stickman Records store HERE!

BRUNHILDE Release New Single And Video “Miss God”

The best comes at the very end! A fact that is illuminated by the streaming figures of BRUNHILDE and their 14 songs from the new album To Cut A Long Story Short. Here, the opening track Miss God is the undisputed number 1 in the band’s internal ranking! None other than this song will be released on the 28th of May as the eighth and last single from the current album. For singer Caro Loy and guitarist Kurt Bauereiss, it has been clear from day one that Miss God would complete the cycle of their single releases.

Front woman Loy reveals: “I’ve always loved this song. With its drum intro, it’s the perfect opener to the album.” By the way, the original idea for the song is already 13 years old. Caro: “Back in the days I was thinking with a friend what she and me would do if we could replace the Lord above for one day and play Miss God.” Of course, there’s not a lot of what remains of the original lyrics today – except for the line “What would you do, if you had the chance to play Miss God for one day” – and the idea of having child molesters castrated and giving the fortune of the super-rich to the poor!

Caro: “The song is supposed to make everyone think: What would you do if you could play God for a day?” If you listen closely to Miss God, you’ll find out that Caro would then fly without fear of heights, study at Hogwarts and turn water into gin and tonic …

The frontwoman explains: “I am a big fan of Miss God and wouldn’t want to do anything different or change anything about this song. It’s absolutely wicked the way it is, so of course we really wanted to release it as a single.” BRUNHILDE save the best for last!!!

PROGENY OF SUN Release New ‘Dark Wanderer’ EP Along With Music Video ‘Eclipse’

Finnish extreme metallers PROGENY OF SUN have released their new EP Dark Wanderer via Inverse Records. To celebrate the release the band also released a music video for Eclipse track.

The band comments:
“We think this is a huge improvement from the first EP. The sounds and texts have gotten increasingly dark and gained a pressuring twist. All in all, the material feels more unified this time around even though we have more people behind it. Vocals are bit more straightforward compared to the first EP, still with a lot of variance, but with more taste.

This EP summarizes well the direction we want to take our music, and the next album will be killer.

The video is also an absolute cracker especially considering it’s fully our own making. Joni did absolutely amazing job getting it done. We think the video also summarizes our energy and enthusiasm precisely. The video shoot was easy, we just played the song as we would with an audience. We had only one small setback when the person who was supposed to shoot the video got quarantined because of coronavirus. Fortunately, Joni was able to step up and with little additional help from our “manager” we handled the situation well.”

Polish Grindcore Veterans SCHISMOPATHIC Release First Full-Length Album In 33 Years’ History ‘The Human Legacy’

Polish grindcore act SCHISMOPATHIC have released The Human Legacy – the band’s first full-length album since its inception in 1988 – through Selfmadegod Records.

Founded in 1987 under the name Schismopathic Torment, in 1988 the band changed its name to SCHISMOPATHIC  under the lineup of bassist Jacek B., guitarist Robert F., and vocalist/drummer Robert G. A year later, they released their debut demo, Kharkharamapathic Regurgitator, resulting in a plethora of shows throughout Poland with bands from the top tier of their country’s underground. In 1991, SCHISMOPATHIC recorded their debut album, D.E.M.O.C.R.A.C.Y., which, due to the band’s inactivity, was released with the first demo and live recordings in 2013 on CD, and then a few years later on LP via Selfmadegod Records.

The band’s reactivation in 2020 was preceded by a split 7” EP with Antigama, also released through Selfmadegod. The band rebooted the original lineup but without Robert G., who was replaced on drums by Janek (ex-Psychoneurosis, ex-Bottom) and new vocalist Adrian. With this lineup, SCHISMOPATHIC composed and recorded material for the full album, The Human Legacy, which will now see release through Selfmadegod Records.

SCHISMOPATHIC’s The Human Legacy was recorded and mixed at 125 Studio between May 2020 and March 2021 and produced by Michal “Maly” Kwiecień. The record’s intro features Kwiecień and Artur “Janek” Jasiński, and the outro features Sebastian “Stecyk” Steć. The cover art and layout were handled by Jasiński and DIY Zrup Leprzy Prod. The track “Proof Of Ignorance” is a new version of the 1989 track “Construction Of Ignorance,” here re-recorded in a new arrangement with new lyrics. With twelve new songs recorded with two original members, The Human Legacy is old-school grindcore frenzy at its best!

Stream SCHISMOPATHIC’s entire crushing The Human Legacy now at THIS LOCATION and see the band’s video for “Time Of History” HERE and the “Vote For Me” animated lyric video HERE.

Find The Human Legacy on CD and digital formats at the Selfmadegod Records webshop HERE and Bandcamp HERE.
