May 20th, London based metallers JASON PAYNE & THE BLACK LEATHER RIDERS performed live their new single ‘The Dark’ at Under The Bridge (Chelsea Football Stadium). The band has posted the official live video on their YouTube channel, watch it here:
‘The Dark’ single was released on June 4th, and it’s taken from the band’s debut EP – ‘The Abyss’ coming out 16th July 2021.
Jason Payne on ‘The Dark’: “Starting this new chapter of my artistic life is a dream come true for me. “The Dark” is a perfect starter to showcase the artistic direction of this project, and it’s a pleasure to finally release this track. I couldn’t be happier with the result – I believe this EP and this specific track is one of our best works so far. I’ve always been interested in philosophy, and this song really showcases my interest in that field, our cohesion and friendship as a band, our image and our sound. I feel good about our chances of building a long-lasting career with Jason Payne & The Black Leather Riders, and I know that this is the beginning of our long journey in the music industry.”
On the single artwork Jason adds: “Created by the incredible Gustavo Sazes, the artwork captures the feel of the single; Death, obscurity and the “nothing”. The single talks of things like trying to reach to the void, feeling confused and betrayed, and about a person that’s losing his essence. Without a consciousness, and with no purpose in our lives, we’re just a bunch of roamers taking a road to the abyss, and that leads us to the dark and lashes us to insignificant beings floating in “the nothing”.“
Read what Jason has to say of their upcoming 6-tracks EP “The Abyss”: “The Dark is a song that sums up the theme of this EP, “The Abyss”. It’s about death, obscurity and the “nothing”. It talks of things like trying to reach to the void, feeling confused and betrayed, and about a person that’s losing his essence. Without a consciousness, and with no purpose in our lives, we’re just a bunch of roamers taking a road to the abyss, and that leads us to the dark and lashes us to insignificant beings floating in “the nothing”. When I was writing this EP, I got affected by the outside world. It’s a dark period that we’re living. I caught the essence and the feelings that this time put me through and made a whole EP about existentialism and nihilism. This period made me question who am I, what’s my purpose, what have I done with my life and what if this all ends now? Would it matter? Do we matter? Does life matters? Of course, it does! In my opinion, there’s no point of doing anything or living if this doesn’t matter. However, when I wrote this EP, I don’t give you the bright side of the story. That’s for the fans to find out. My whole point with this work is to make people question their lives and feel these emotions. This record means so much to me, since it’s about everything I felt and still feel. I’m a person who never stops asking questions. I always want to know more. Specially, when it comes to existentialism, I’m always in internal conflict, since I question everything. This is my message, this is my music and it’s about how I feel, and hopefully, people will relate to it.”
Stay tuned for more details.

K.K. DOWNING talks to The Metal Voiceabout the new album, tour plans, band name and next steps.
Watch the chat below.
When asked, now that you have this new solid Album coming out has it become so fulfilling that have you lost interest in wanting to reunite with Judas Priest. “Wild horses, nothing could drag me, that’s it you know, when it’s a no, it’s a no. You can only hear it so many times, then you have to go that’s it but now this has happened. I am already putting down material for the next record. Did I feel a bit insecure? Could I do it? And when I found out I could (do an album) it was really enjoyable. I don’t want this to be the last thing I ever do.

The band is proud to release the music video for the single, ‘Pathkeeper’. Watch the video featuring footage courtesy of Nikkie Marie Kephart and Miles Baker and compiled by Jerry Clubb, here:
The deep cohesiveness of INTERLOPER’s writing process for “Search Party” allowed for a creative project with no real boundaries or restrictions. The album was produced by the band and Joey Virrueta. Drums were recorded at Big Bad Sound LA by Jack Ruley and Zach Fisher, with the mixing and mastering completed once more by Andrew’s brother Joey Virrueta. The album artwork was created by Caelan Stokkermans.
Miles Baker comments, “I am thrilled to have “Search Party” out in its entirety. It has been a long time coming and I can’t thank the fans enough (old and new) for sticking with us and digging what we are doing. It has been a lot of hard work making it to release day and I couldn’t be more proud of all the time, effort, energy, and emotion that the guys and myself put into “Search Party”! I hope you all enjoy our first full-length record as much as we do.”
Aaron Stechauner states, “We made it! Thank you to all of our fans who have been patiently waiting upwards of half a decade for us to pull ourselves together and finally make a record! We hope every one of you, as well as every new listener to Interloper, thoroughly enjoys what we have to offer from our debut LP. In the words of Dave Grohl, “Done, done, on to the next one.”

German metallers DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER have released a new track from their upcoming experimental record, “The Divine Horsemen”, which will be out July 2nd, 2021. “Ymir” is again referencing black metal, but in a more expansive way compared to the very straight forward & compressed last single “Nachtblume”. The song’s lurking mid-tempo slowly builds up an eerie & melancholic mood, and finally culminates in an outburst of cathartic fury.
DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER on “Ymir”: „The history of creation in Germanic mythology tells about “Ymir” as the first living creature. Yet his story is mostly unknown, compared to the early Germanic deities. In our piece we’re building a world of ice and eternal frost in memory of this ancient hermaphroditic giant. The majestic sounds go hand in hand with the powerful pictures we have chosen for the video.”
On July 2nd, 2021, Nuclear Blast will release “The Divine Horsemen” physically as strictly limited double LP with 32-page LP booklet featuring illustrations for each track crafted by vocalist Fuchs, as limited 2CD with 36-page booklet and on all digital platforms. In line with the uniqueness of this recording, the physical formats will only be available once!
