Brazilian / Dutch death metal powerhouse CRYPTA is ready to re-open the portals of hell by presenting the third single, “Dark Night Of The Soul”, off their upcoming debut album, along with an official full band playthrough video.
The new single delivers a bold message of pure hardness, perilous atmosphere and underlines the heightened level of potency and experience from their successful past and current projects, enhancing influences from both classic and modern death metal genres.

CRYPTA’s debut album will be out this Friday – descending upon the earth like an apocalyptic meteor! Echoes of the Soul was recorded in January 2021 at the Family Mob Studio (Brazil), mixed by Arthur Rizk (Code Orange, Powertrip  etc.) and mastered by the famed Jens Bogren (Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Sepultura etc.). The cover artwork was created by Wes Benscoter, who is internationally famous for his stunning covers for bands such as Slayer, Kreator, Black Sabbath and many more.

Watch/Listen to “Dark Night Of The Soul” HERE:

Order the thrilling debut album Echoes Of The Soul NOW!

Atmospherically dark and threatening, the 55-second intro “Awakening” prepares the listener for the oncoming ferocity of Echoes Of The Soul, dispensing murky, fiery fuel into the death metal machine. Their significant sonic texture derived from various death metal subgenres and traces of classic thrash becomes instantly evident as the album begins, reflective of the entirely vicious, infernal aura the 10-track debut is about to unleash. CRYPTA unbridle high-powered sonic demons and nourish cumulative, explosive energy with raging guitar riffs, Fernanda Lira’s unmistakable vocal color and Damettos’s menacing drums. Tracks like “Starvation”, “Kali” and “Blood Stained Heritage” incite an uncontrollable storm of pure rage and belligerence, while offerings like “Under The Black Wings” and “Dark Night Of The Soul” deliver a message of pure hardness in perilous atmosphere. “Death Arcana” provides its listener further insight into CRYPTA’s sonic mastery and captivates with sprawling solos reminiscent of earlier times, yet spiced with a modern twist.

Echoes Of The Soul tracklisting:
1. Awakening
2. Starvation
3. Possessed
4. Death Arcana
5. Shadow Within
6. Under the Black Wings
7. Kali
8. Blood Stained Heritage

After more than two decades of silence, Finnish cult black/epic metallers and pioneers of the scene DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED carve their long-awaited comeback in stone by signing a worldwide record deal with Napalm Records!

In 2020, the old horde from the original line-up rejoined forces, now augmented by former session keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen as a full member of the band, bringing a significant contribution to the creative process, and Kai Hahto (both Nightwish) as session drummer.

Founded in 1993 in Kitee, Finland, DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED quickly gained a cult status in the black metal underground. In 1995, they released their debut album, Heirs of the Northstar, followed by sophomore album, Autumn Roars Thunder (1996), and Witch-Hunts (1998). Shortly after, the pagan flame of DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED became but a fleeting glimpse in the nocturnal darkness of Eastern Finland. But it never faded away completely.

Be prepared for an onslaught of melodic black metal and epic majesty!

DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED are:
Pasi Kankkunen – vocals, guitar
Jouni Mikkonen – guitar
Teemu Kautonen – bass, backing vocals
Tuomas Holopainen – keyboards
Kai Hahto – drums (session)

ANTI-FLAG Announce Fall 2021 Tour Plans

ANTI-FLAG have announced their return to the road and their Fall 2021 headline North American tour dates.

The first leg will kick off on September 14 in Grand Rapids, MI and run through October 14 in Vancouver. Support will come from Dog Party, Grumpster, and Oxymorrons. The second leg features Bad Cop/Bad Cop and Doll Skin. It kicks off on November 2 in Buffalo and runs through November 20 with the ANTIfest show in their native Pittsburgh. All dates are below. Tickets are available here.

“The last time Anti-Flag embarked on a North American tour, it lasted two days before COVID-19 brought it to an end,” the band recalls. “After more than a year of challenges, hardships, and misfortune for many the world over, we are pleased to announce that we are hitting the road again. In the grand scheme of current events, this announcement is small but we also take it as an optimistic sign that life is slowly inching out of the pandemic and that gives us a cause to celebrate.”

The band continues. “These shows will be a celebration of the fact that we have all come through a very hard time and pay respects to those lost over the past year. They will also be a gathering place for all who believe in and support equality, human rights, and those who stand against authoritarianism and fascism. In the wake of the past year, these issues are front and center, which makes our desire to connect with friends, allies, and accomplices even greater. There is power in connectivity and knowing that you are not alone. We want everyone who believes that Black Lives Matter, that neo-fascism has no place in this society, that LGBTQ+ people are free to be who they are, that war and war profiteering is morally reprehensible, and that capitalism is fucked, to walk away from these shows feeling re-energized for the struggles ahead and to know that they are, indeed, not alone and to keep up the good fight.”

TOMMY CONCRETE Streams New Video For “The Blind Man Shines Light On The Truth”

Tommy Concrete streams new video for “The Blind Man shines Light on The Truth” from his highly anticipated upcoming album “Hexenzirkel” via Doomed & Stoned, at this location.

Marked by relentless persistence and an ever-evolving creative spirit, the music of Edinburgh, Scotland solo artist Tommy Concrete pushes new boundaries with the upcoming album Hexenzirkel.  Due out via Trepanation Records later this year, Hexenzirkel features an array of guest artists and incorporates unexpected musical genres to deliver a soundscape that fans of Devin Townsend, Ihsahn, The Gathering and Opeth will enjoy.

Concrete says of the album,

“It uses the same musical ingredients as my previous work, as in it’s a combination of black, doom, prog, and trad metal.  But this time I’ve tried to create a fusion of styles as opposed to swapping between them.  This concept came from listening to 70s flamenco/rock fusion artists such as Al Di Meola and Cameron De La Isla.  Hexenzirkel also contains elements of flamenco, trip-hop, rap, and alt-rock thrown in with the usual blend of extreme metals.”

Lyrically, Concrete considers the album an exploration of psychosis of which he was diagnosed in 2019. A condition which he came to terms with during the global pandemic, in so far as it gave him the drive to create Hexenzirkel. The lyrics were written in order as they appear on the album, in almost diary format from March 2020 – May 2020.

Concrete, who is autistic, experiences synesthesia which is the ability to experience sound and music visually. His recent Unrelaxed 1 & 2 albums had neurodiversity as the lyrical concept. This time Concrete decided to represent neuro-diversity musically, by utilizing his synesthesia as a creative tool. In as such as drawing the music first and composing the songs to fit the shapes and colors. Hexenzirkel is literally the sound and shape (if your have synesthesia) of psychosis.

Hexenzirkel contains more doom metal influences than his previous releases. A genre he is more known for outside his solo work, having most recently appeared in three of the forty bands of the recent ‘Doomed & Stoned in Scotland’ compilation, namely Psychotic Depression, Jackal Headed Guard of the Dead and of course Tommy Concrete.

He has taken a definite turn from his time with Scottish punk legends The Exploited, forging his own solo identity.  Now with Hexenzirkel, his ninth solo album and the second with Trepanation, Concrete welcomes a wealth of collaborators to continue this musical evolution.  “The word ‘Hexenzirkel’ is German for ‘witches coven,’ which I felt was an appropriate title as so many people have contributed to the album,” he says.

Concrete is joined by the following vocalists:

  • Laura Gilchrist of doom metal band King Witch
  • Jenni Sneddon of witch rock band Juniper Grave
  • Michael Brannagh of Tommy Concrete and the Werewolves and formerly American hard rock band Warrior Soul
  • Christian Kimmet from Warrior Soul and American glam legends Love Hate
  • Jamie Herkes from Tommy Concrete and the Werewolves and Scottish punks Critkill
  • Bryan Ramage from prog metal band Ramage Inc.

Ramage also produced, mixed, and mastered the album.
Hexenzirkel will be available in CD and digital formats on 25th June 2021

REAPING ASMODEIA Return With New Cover Single ‘Day 69’

REAPING ASMODEIA return with a brand new single, available to stream on all digital platforms from today. This standalone single is a cover of Decapitated’s Day 69 – originally found on the Polish band’s 2006 album Organic Hallucinosis – and is a bludgeoning taste of what this Minneapolis modern death metal trio is capable of, with more to follow in the coming months.

Listen to Day 69 via Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

Of the track, the band comments:

“Early Decapitated has had a profound influence on all of us in REAPING ASMODEIA. When we think of albums that have had an immense impact on ourselves, and our respective genres, there is no question that Organic Hallucinosis will be mentioned. The skill, technicality, and sheer ferocity on this album is as relevant as ever. With this year being the 15th anniversary of that album, what better time than now to unleash our version of Day 69 before we begin to share our new album with all of you very soon!”

Having spent much of the enforced downtime of 2020 in the studio, REAPING ASMODEIA have been hard at work crafting the follow up to 2017’s Impuritize – their first release under the Prosthetic banner. More information on their upcoming full length will be available this summer. Prior to the pandemic the band toured relentlessly with bands such as Dying Fetus, Allegaeon and The Acacia Strain; plans are already under way to return to the road later this year.
