It’s been four years since the last THE RASMUS album Dark Matters. During the last pandemic-infused year, The Rasmus have been busy recording their 10th album together with UK based, Danish born producer Joshua.
The Rasmus return with the first fruits of those sessions in the form of new single & lyric video“Bones”.
The Rasmus‘ singer Lauri Ylönen discusses Bones: ”It’s about bad karma. Whatever you leave behind in life, you’ll find in front of you one day. This song presents a slightly different sound but still has the typical dark layer of The Rasmus.”
“Bones” will be followed by more singles in the Autumn, leading up to a full album release in 2022 (details to follow). The album release will be backed-up by a worldwide tour. All dates can be found listed below.
The single and album were produced and mixed together with Joshua whose credits include Kent, MEW, Kashmir, Guano Apes, Broder Daniel, Carpark North and many more. • Producer of the Year Denmark (2000) for Kashmir “The Good Life” (6 Grammys) • Producer of the Year Sweden (2010) for Kent “Röd” (7 Grammis’) • Multiple Platinum/Gold Albums as both Producer, Engineer and Mixer. More info on The Rasmus: The Rasmus were formed in 1995 while the members were still in high school. Their debut, Peep, rapidly went gold in their homeland Finland, making the members rock stars at the age of 16. The follow-up, Playboys, also went gold and earned the group an Emma, Finland’s version of a Grammy. Their third album, Hell of a Tester, included “Liquid,” a track that was voted Best Single of the Year by Finland’s music critics. 2001’s Into album went double platinum in their native country, with its debut single, “F-F-F-Falling,” hitting the top of the charts. An international audience started to build, and the band toured throughout Europe. Their fifth album Dead Letters, released in 2003, became the band’s biggest breakthrough yet, due in large part to the success of the single “In the Shadows”. 2005’s Hide from the Sun went platinum in Finland. Their fourth Finnish chart-topper, Black Roses, was released in 2008, produced by Desmond Child. After the release of compilation Best of The Rasmus: 2001-2009 and a 2011 solo LP from Lauri Ylönen titled New World, The Rasmus released their self-titled eighth album, The Rasmus in 2012. The band returned in 2017 with the album Dark Matters. The Rasmus are still one Europe’s most in demand rock acts. They have toured Scandinavia many times as well as Central Europe, Asia, Japan, Canada, USA and South America. The Rasmus are vocalist Lauri Ylönen, bassist Eero Heinonen, guitarist Pauli Rantasalmi, and drummer Aki Hakala.

The debut album of SILVER LAKE by ESA HOLOPAINEN is available on May 28th via Nuclear Blast Tonträger Produktions- und Vertriebs GmbH and comes not only with the legendary guitar riffs of Esa Holopainen from AMORPHIS, one of Finland’s biggest guitarists and metal songwriters, but also seven famous rock and metal vocalists such asJonas Renkse (Katatonia), Einar Solberg (Leprous), Björn “Speed” Strid (Soilwork),Anneke Van Giersbergen and many more, that dive you into a world of catchy, progressive metal masterpieces that breathe the beauty and melancholy of Finland.
Today, the band releases their second and new single “Ray Of Light” featuring vocals ofEinar Solberg from the norwegian Progressive Metal masters LEPROUS. The song comes with some 80’s vibes that leaves you dancing in magical spheres.
“”Ray Of Light” was one of the first songs that I wrote for the album. The only vocalist I imagined to sing this song was Einar Solberg. We have toured together in the past and beside he is a true gentleman he is absolutely one of the most unique singers that I know. I hope you all enjoy this song and the music video as much as I do”, says Esa Holopainen.
The self-titled album is available as a CD digipak, in various coloured vinyl editions, a limited CD boxset (incl. the digipak, signed card, guitar pick and flag) as well as digital. Pre-Order here: http://nblast.de/SL-SilverLake Pre-Save here: http://nblast.de/SilverLakeAlbumPre

Due to their recently released collaborations with DENNIS LYXZÉN (REFUSED), NEIL FALLON (CLUTCH) and additional musical appearances by Ryan Sinn (The Distillers) and Dave Dinsmore (Brant Bjork), THE PICTUREBOOKS created some wild rumors within the last weeks with their unstoppable activities and tirelessness.
As announced last week, the gritty blues-rock-duo release the rock single of the year today, entitled “Rebel” featuring the outstanding Grammy winning vocalist LZZY HALE of HALESTORM!
The video for this track was filmed in Nashville and Berlin (Sony ‘Circle’ Studios) by LZZY HALE and THE PICTUREBOOKS and is set for a premiere today at 5pm CET which can be seen HERE!
Just before the video premiere is taking place, THE PICTUREBOOKS and LZZY HALE will be live on Instagram to give you insights about the song creation and further hints. Check out their live chat HERE at 4.45pm CET.
As of today, the single is available on your favorite streaming platforms and can be streamed HERE!
With an intangible honesty and emotionality, LZZY HALE finds the following words:
“This project came into my life at a time when I really needed it. The Pandemic stole a huge part of my life, and my identity. I was forced to look myself in the mirror and figure out who I am without that missing piece. I had to remind myself that no matter what is happening outside…the flame that burns inside of me is still alive. Writing these lyrics was like drawing a road map to guide myself back to who I am. No one can do it for me, no one can save me but myself. In order to do that, I have to start a revolution inside my soul, and be a rebel from the inside out. This song is my war cry.
The instrumental music was so inspiring that by the third listen the melody naturally spilled out like some alien hybrid of all my influences.
I am so grateful to The Picturebooks for bringing me into their world and giving me the freedom to express my personal journey of rediscovering myself. And I know that, in times like these, this song will bring the listener hope for the future and the confidence to survive whatever that future becomes.” – Lzzy Hale, Halestorm
THE PICTUREBOOKS further continue:
“It’s hard to put in words how excited we are about this collab. Lzzy has been the number one artist we wanted to work with when we started this project and bottles were poppin’ when she gave us the go to be a part of it.
Honestly, the stuff she came up with for this song was beyond our expectations. When we wrote the song we knew that if we send this to anyone, it’s gotta be Lzzy.
We knew about the potential of the song, but we didn’t know it could be this good. How in the world did she pull this off?
This said, it is also time to put an end to the secrecy and herewith officially announce “The Major Minor Collective”, the new album by THE PICTUREBOOKS which will be released 3rd of September, 2021!
„The Picturebooks & The Major Minor Collective“ was born out of the insane idea of bringing together various artists who have either inspired the two or who they are just friends with. The idea was to have some kind of creative exchange in these crazy times, a bridge to fellow artists if you like.
It also opened the musical range of the band in many ways and leads to the most varied musical work THE PICTUREBOOKS have ever done in their career.
Stay tuned, more details on this will be revealed very soon! For now, have fun listening to “Rebel” and repeat until death!

Remember, remember, the Fifth Of November? Last autumn, British metal legends PARADISE LOST exorcised the demons and ghosts of a dreary dry spell without concerts and thrilled the world with their stunning livestream “At The Mill”. Today, the band is proud to announce the captured testimony of this special night to be released as live album on July 16th!
Captured at The Mill Nightclub near the band’s hometown in Yorkshire, England, the recording of the BluRay was directed by Ash Pears, who previously worked with the band on their music videos for ‘Medusa’ and ‘Obsidian’. Mixed by Les Smith and mastered by Jaime Gomez Arellano, the audio version of the show will be available in various formats including CD, Blu-Ray and different vinyl colours.
To bring back first bittersweet memories from better days when concerts were still a thing, the band releases a haunting yet beautiful live version from “Darker Thoughts” that you can watch here:
“Due to the ban on live music, we, like many other bands, have had to adapt and do something we never thought we’d have to do”, reflects guitarist and songwriter Greg Mackintosh on the release. “No, not stacking shelves in Aldi like Metallica, but playing a show at a disused mill in Yorkshire with no one else there. We decided against trying to pretend there was an audience in the room with us, opting instead for a rather moribund version of a live lounge show. Whilst never being pleased with anything, we were however slightly less miserable at the result. It was also almost fun playing some of our new album Obsidian within the set for the first time too. We can now announce that we will be releasing this show as an official CD/Blu-Ray and vinyl imaginatively entitled At the Mill.”
PARADISE LOST will tour next February together with MOONSPELL in the United Kingdom. You can catch the package here: February 5th, 2022 – Leeds, UK – The Warehouse (Obsidian Album Launch Show) February 6th, 2022 – Colchester, UK – Arts Centre February 7th, 2022 – Norwich, UK – Waterfront February 8th, 2022 – Brighton, UK – Concorde 2 February 9th, 2022 – Stoke, UK – Sugarmill
